Lara laughed.

"I find that hard to believe," she said, "You seem like the most agreeable person I ever met?"

"You'd be wrong about that," Chris said, "I was quite challenging as a child... and even as an adult."

"Was that because of something you went through," Lara asked.

"Yes. I went through a stage of being a brat when I was a kid. I outgrew it."

Kim and Lara laughed and soon Chris joined in.

"What happened with you as an adult," Lara asked.

"I reacted poorly to something Ellen did," Chris said, "I really can't talk about it. It gets me all emotional"

"Tam on the other hand," Kim said, "Has had some trauma in his life before we got to America."

"Really? He seems so well balanced."

"Well for instance I found out that the engineer-"

"Who?"

Kim told Lara all about the engineer.

"He sounds like a disgusting man," Lara said.

"He is. I hate him. He used to lock Tam in a bird cage with actually birds in the cage that would peck at him. That's why Tam is so afraid of birds."

Lara gasped.

"Why didn't you stop him from doing that," she asked.

"I had no idea it was being done," Kim said, "If I knew..."

"Tam was also almost murdered about six months ago," Chris told Lara.

"What? How? When? Why?"

Kim told Lara all about Thuy trying to murder Tam.

"Good for you," Lara said, "I would have killed Thuy if he had tried to hurt Hao... or anyone that tries to hurt Hao for that matter."

Kim smiled.

"Spoken like a mother," she said.

Lara laughed.

"Are you taking Tam to a therapist," Lara asked.

"Yes," Chris said, "Her name is Renee Booker."

"She's great," Lara said, "Hao works with her."

"Hao's seeing a therapist?"

"Yes. She got depressed for awhile after her father died."

"How did he die anyway," Chris asked.

"He had a heart attack," Lara said, "Right in front of Hao."

"Wow," Chris said, "That had to be hard for Hao to handle."

"Trust me it was."

...

"Daddy," Tam said, "Can I have some ice cream. I'm hungry."

"Of course," Chris said.

He got him an ice cream cone.

"Can I have one too," Hao asked.

"Sure," Chris said grabbing one for Hao.

"Aren't you afraid your going to get them sick with so much junk food," Lara asked.

Chris shook his head.

"Tam never knew what ice cream was before," Chris said, "or a bed or a bath or toys. He's just catching up."

"Seriously?"

Chris nodded.

"He draws beautifully," Kim said, "Want to see some of his work?"

"Sure," Lara said.

Kim went to get Tam's drawings. Lara was amazed.

"It looks as though a 12 year old drew this," Lara said, "Not a 2 year old."

Chris grinned proudly.

"My son has quite some talent," he said.

"So," Lara changed the subject, "Where are you and Kim going on your honeymoon when you get married."

"Probably Disneyworld," Kim said, "It's child friendly."

"You're taking Tam?"

"Oh yeah," Chris said, "We don't feel ready to leave him behind yet."

Lara nodded.

"Can I go too," Hao asked overhearing them, "I always wanted to go to Disneyworld."

"Honey," Lara began but Chris nodded

"As long as Tam and Kim is okay with it I'm fine with it," he said, "and your mom too of course."
