Lessons In Love: Chapter Twenty-Two: Viva La Vida (Part 3)
Tony was organizing all the stuff that he packed. He was thinking about a number of things, as he zipped the bag closed. Stephen was in the shower, and it was hella early.
He decided to change his approach. It was hard for him to sleep because he kept hearing those eternally connected best friends chat and laugh all night.
They were inseparable, and it started to intimidate Tony. He wasn't sure what he was actually trying to do. He knew that he wanted to be alone with Steve, but those thoughts started making him feel like he was being selfish.
He wasn't sure how to behave. Tony thought about it until he fell asleep. Presently, he was going to attempt some sort of plan. The brunette headed out of the room, and he grabbed a bunch of food from the hotel lobby. He grabbed fruit, bagels, and a bunch of juices.
Tony carried them in his shirt, and he walked all the way to the room that Bucky and Steve were in. He used his foot to knock on the door.
After a moment, the door was opened and Tony looked at the person that stood in the space. He saw Steve's freshly pressed button up shirt, and he slowly looked upward toward his face.
Uhmahh.. Tony started to shift his foot around inside his shoe, and he forgot to say something. Steve smiled at him and asked Tony if he wanted to come in.
"I brought breakfast."
That was Tony's response. He walked in slowly, and he saw Bucky laying down on one of the beds. The two feisty brunettes made eye contact, and Steve shut the door.
Bucky studied the blushing breakfast bringer, and one of his eyebrows raised upward. They already had breakfast in the room. Steve and Bucky gathered what they wanted from the lobby.
Steve didn't want Tony to know that, of course, and he tried to hide the pile of goods. He blocked the view of it with his body, and he hoped that Tony didn't see it.
Well, Tony saw it. He felt stupid right away, but he powered through it.
"Thank you. I'm always hungry, so.."
Steve could eat for days. He helped Tony set what he brought over onto the small table, and Tony immediately started rubbing the back of his own neck.
He felt so nervous. Tony wanted to leave the room, and he noticed the sweat that was building on his neck.
"Ok. That's good. See ya."
Tony seriously needed to vacate the earth. He spun around where he stood, and he tried to make an exit. Whoa whoa whoaaaa. Steve immediately reacted, and he hopped over in his direction.
He didn't want him leaving like that. Steve gently touched his arm, and asked Tony where he was headed.
"I've gotta pack this, in the car. Stephen's in a hurry, so..."
Soooooooo...Tony needed to head straight for the hills. Bucky Wonder just remained exactly where he was and he watched that other brunette try to function.
He thought that Tony was a bit odd. Bucky figured that he was really sweet on Steve, and his presence was making things difficult for the little heartbreaker.
Well, that was some tough shit.
Bucky didn't intend to say anything about it unless he had to. He kept his mouth shut, and his opinions to himself. Steve actually offered to carry Tony's bag out to the car for him. It was amusing for Bucky to watch, and his eyebrow remained arched as they interacted.
Tony was already carrying his bag, so Bucky wanted to laugh at them both. Could they be anymore awkward? He knew it was because that sort of interaction was new for Steve. The blonde was a hopeless romantic, and his sinless behavior was showing.
Steve wanted to talk to him, but he couldn't just say, "Hey Tony, I want to talk to you." That statement would imply their potential involvement. The blonde really struggled with it, and he wasn't completely sure why.
Tony slowly gave him his bag, and the two of them left the hotel room. They forgot about the breakfast that Tony brought, and they both forgot to shut the stupid door.
Bucky thought they both were lost in la la land. He finally laughed at them when they LEFT. After a moment, Bucky hopped up to his feet. He proudly helped himself to all the stuff that Tony brought to the room. Bucky started eating, and he looked at the mess he made in the room.
Bucky had some pretty lazy moments. He sighed and debated his next step.
Outside the room, Tony and Steve walked to the car. Tony realized immediately that he didn't have the keys to the car, because he gave them back to Stephen. The brunette cursed himself for not thinking right, but then he ended up just staring anyway.
Steve set the bag on top of the trunk. He smiled at Tony, and he waited for him to say something. Tony looked like he had something on his mind, so the blonde waited it out.
Tony swayed for a bit, but then he started talking when he looked back over at the hotel rooms. He didn't think that he had that much time, so he rushed what he wanted to say.
"I want to ask you something, before they show up."
Tony stepped twice, and he noticed that Steve moved in close. The blonde responded, but Tony's mind wandered off. He wanted Steve even closer, and he wanted to touch that beautiful skin.
Tony wanted to feel his arms and shoulders again, and kiss him, like before. All of that made Tony's temperature rise up, and he rushed his thought out again.
"Was I too forward with you? The other night? I feel like I overwhelmed you. Or well, was it me or, what we did that overwhelmed you?"
Tony hoped that he made sense. He just felt like he messed up, and the lack of communication didn't help. He wanted to know what Steve thought about their encounter, and it nagged at Tony all the time.
Steve had a policy. Honesty was the best policy there ever was, so... he answered Tony's question after he translated it in his head.
"It did overwhelm me."
Oh. Tony's young heart felt that comment. A slow pain started swirling around in his chest. Steve noticed Tony's mood sink immediately, and he gently touched his face.
It really overwhelmed him, but that wasn't a bad thing. Steve felt that warm face, and he glanced over at the hotel rooms.
"It was overwhelming, but I think about it all the time."
He liked what Tony did. Steve liked it a lot, and it fueled something within him that he didn't expect. The blonde wanted it to happen again. He wanted it to go even further.
Tony felt very encouraged. That initial feeling that he had in his chest softened up, and his expression changed to a bright smile. He brought his hand up to his own face, and he slowly touched Steve's skin.
His thumb was pretty close to Tony's mouth. The brunette turned his head slightly to the right, and he brought that thumb in between his teeth. That action reminded Steve of what Tony did to him immediately, and the blonde's body felt a strong rush of warmth.
Steve felt a frenzy going on beneath his skin, and Tony started doing a few more things to that thumb. Steve felt that tongue, and he almost lost it. He pulled his hand back, and the blonde took off.
Tony was beyond shocked, because Steve really needed to leave. He couldn't control that burst in energy, and his body needed to move. Steve was gone in an instant, and Tony gasped in a deep breath of air.
Stephen Strange was totally oblivious to what happened. He approached the car after a minute, and he noticed a frozen Tony standing beside it.
"Move."
Tony was in the way of the trunk. His shit was on top of it, and Stephen wanted to GO. Tony was out of it, and his face was burning up.
Stephen sighed, and he pushed Tony's bag onto the ground. He intended to snap him out of his peculiar daze.
"Steve ran off. He ran.."
Tony pointed to his left. Stephen opened up the trunk, and he started looking where Tony was pointing. What the fuck. He ran? Ran where?
"Why?"
"I.. well, that.."
"...Is he coming back?"
"I'm not sure?"
Stephen tossed his stuff into the trunk. He kept looking for any sign of Steve as he tossed Tony's stuff in as well. Stephen rolled his eyes. Tony's lovebird face was something that Stephen was not in the mood for. He was also not in the mood for Steve taking off.
He wanted to leave soon, and he asked Bucky to go retrieve his friend. The other brunette approached. He brought their things out of the room, and he was just as confused as Stephen.
Tony kept spacing out. He just walked around the car and he sat down in the passenger seat. He had too much on his mind at the moment.
Tony started doing some serious planning in his head. He tuned the others out entirely, and figured that the world around him would sort itself out.
