Harry and Ron were astonished. Out of the three years they had been at Hogwarts Dumbledore has never been in their common room much less their bedroom.

"Headmaster. Wh-wh-what are you doing here?" Ron asked stammering.

"I'm here to talk with Harry." Ron looked at Harry and he started to stand up and get off his bed. "Mr. Weasley you may stay."

Ron went back onto his bed and he started to play with his chess set not trying to eavesdrop on their conversation.

"Headmaster. What's the matter, am I in trouble?" Harry asked the man with fear rising in his voice.

"No Harry. But I would like to talk about your feelings as of late. I understand that you've heard some news about your parents-"

"Did Hermione tell you?" Ron asked the Headmaster.

"As a matter of fact, yes she did," Dumbledore said in his soft voice. Harry and Ron exchanged looks. "Harry, she said that you learned some new information last Saturday and that you've been acting differently for the entire week. If this is true, I just want you to know that Hogwarts staff and faculty will be here to help you out."

Ron scoffed and said under his breath, "Not all the staff and faculty."

Dumbledore just ignored the boy and continued. "Now I may be right to assume that you have some questions for me. I have some questions for you as well. Now go ahead and ask me all the questions you're dying to get out."

"Why do you think he did it?"

"I don't know why he did it. I hoped that it didn't happen, but it did and I couldn't believe it. He had so much promise and potential. But I'm guessing he used it on the wrong things."

"Do you remember him? Do you think he could've done it?"

"I believe that he probably didn't want to do it. I remember when he came to Hogwarts. As I said before such promise. Such potential.

"I do have another question that doesn't revolve around Sirius. It's about the Book of Titan. Do you know what it is?"

"Of course, Harry. Every professor here knows about the legend of the Book of Titan. I've told many students about it in my time as Headmaster and they all loved to hear about it. Especially some of the first years. Now Harry, when classes resume, I shall be with you for your first day of classes because I want to make sure you are the best you, you can be." Dumbledore grinned and then he walked out of the dormitory down the spiral staircases and he was gone out of view.

The rest of the break went by easily and fast. He was with Ron for most of his break and that made things so much better. But the day came where everyone came back from the holidays and they would have to go back to their classes. Harry and Ron walked out of the dormitory to the Great Hall to eat breakfast and once they were done, they made their way up to the History of Magic classroom. Once inside Harry noticed Dumbledore sitting by Professor Binns pretending to give him an evaluation while he truly just watched Harry. The class went by with Professor Binns going on and on about something; what he was going on about Harry had no idea but he wished that sitting in the classroom with Professor Binns would've showed how boring his classes were and he would've changed them up.

Harry then went to the Charms classroom and walked in to see Dumbledore sitting in the classroom behind Flitwick. They were learning about mind-affecting charms. "Before you learn potentially dangerous mind-affecting charms, it's important that you are prepared to use them properly. Ordinarily you would just review the spell components and be on your way, but this set of spells requires training your minds in new ways. The following two exercises will help you control mind-affecting charms and are critical to helping you use them properly. Please practice them between now and our next lesson," Flitwick said in his high voice, walking around the class. "First, consider the emotions you're feeling right now. Are you happy? Frustrated? Disappointed? Angry? Perhaps a combination of these? I would like you to choose an emotion and do your best to experience it for a moment. You don't have to focus or direct the emotion, like being angry at any given person, but simply bring to mind thoughts or circumstances that make you feel that way. Begin with happiness, recalling the things that give you the greatest joy, happiness and fulfillment in your life, and why they make you feel happy. After you've done that for a few moments, consider things that make you feel sad, then angry, then guilty. The goal is simply to recognize that we carry a wide range of emotions with us and that it's actually pretty easy to bring them to mind, even if we don't have a trigger (like receiving a birthday present or sitting an exam). Don't spend too long on any one emotion, of course; we wouldn't want you to feel overwhelmed. Instead, try cycling through all your emotions and their causes so that you can bring each of them to mind at a moment's notice."

Harry started to think. What emotions was he feeling? He wasn't angry or anything. He felt calm. Although he felt a little embarrassed that Dumbledore was following him everywhere. Something that made him feel happy. Playing Quidditch. Something that makes him feel sad. My parents. Something that makes him feel angry. Sirius Black. He went on and on and on about what made him feel certain types of emotions. And he expected to learn a spell that class, but they didn't. They just focused on their emotions and mind-affecting charms. He left the class and went to Lunch with Hermione and Ron. After lunch they went to Divination and once again, they saw Dumbledore in the class pretending to give another evaluation. The class arrived to see Professor Trelawney standing off to the side of her desk with her back to the students. They don't initially know what she is doing, but those in the seats closest can distinctly hear what sounds like fingerprints and disrespect for property. As the bell tolls to initiate the start of the lesson, she jumps and turns. She quickly places a cloth and gem on the table before addressing the gathered students.

"Ah, students, hello! I apologize. Time got away from me; it seems. Today we will be covering our last topic on runes: spreads. The tarot and rune casting share many similarities, and, as I mentioned in your extra credit assignment last week, people of all different cultures often have the same questions about life and the future, which contributes to similar divinatory practices across disciplines. There are certainly many differences and spreads specific to the Norse practice that I will be sure to highlight, however! For the sake of understanding the spreads, I have taken the liberty of putting up a few posters on the walls. I will be pointing to them for reference when we discuss each spread. We will start with the simplest and move on in complexity each time, ending with the most difficult. Please know that this is not an exhaustive list of spreads, and many of these spreads have multiple names." The class continued and she told them about One Rune Pull, the Three Norns, Five Rune Spread, the Midgard Serpent, and the Worldstead.

"Sadly, that is all the time this year we have for the art of rune casting. As we progress through the years, you will find this to be a common theme. It would be impossible to help you achieve mastery in all of these divinatory approaches, while still giving you exposure to a wide enough variety of methods. My main goal is to help you find your niche, your passion, and your greatest strength instead of forcing you to study five years of clairvoyance specifically because it is my favorite! Because of this, the goal of this course and our studies of varying length are designed to give you enough knowledge to start you off on your journey if you find one of these practices interests you above all others. With that in mind, if you ever want more information on a particular topic, please do not hesitate to come to me and ask, or even just for a chat!" Trelawney said in her normal misty voice. Harry has stood up and he and Hermione were the first ones out of the classroom.

Once they exited the classroom Ron said, "Learning about runes is more boring then tessomancy. Who would've thought!"

"I told you boys that this subject was unnecessary. I might drop it," Hermione told the two.

The two made their way to their final class of the day Transfiguration. Professor McGonagall sat at her desk, twiddling her thumbs and looking around. As the rest of the Third Years entered the classroom, the first thing they noticed was that their Transfiguration professor was not alone in the room. In the corner sat a blonde woman that many recognized as their Alchemy instructor, Professor Rose, who was flipping through a book on Bavarian desserts.

"Welcome to midterm day everyone! Now don't you groan at me, you knew it was coming and I hope to make today's lesson a little more exciting, as we're mixing it up and taking a little break from transformations in addition to getting a guest lecture from the one and only Professor Rose! Earlier in the year we discussed natural transformations and today I would like to discuss some magical transformations that don't necessarily occur via spell," McGonagall said. She started to talk about shapeshifters. "There are many creatures throughout the magical world that possess the ability to transform themselves at will… It is unknown what it looks like when unseen, but it can transfigure itself on the spot depending on the greatest fear of the person nearest to it… This is often the form of a horse, but could be nearly any other creature, from man to sea serpent… The Dukuwaqa is native to the waters of Fiji and can transform between a man and shark at will."

"For those of you taking Alchemy, you should by now be familiar with the concept of transmutations, or the changing of one metal into another, typically a base into a noble metal. Though this appears to be a transformation at first glance, as one thing is being changed into another, the physical process through which this change occurs is entirely different. Professor Rose has graciously agreed to join us today to discuss this a little more! Professor? ... Serafina?"

Professor Rose continues to flip through her book of Bavarian desserts, completely focused on the sweets. Around the third time Professor McGonagall calls her name, her head snaps up and she glances around the room with wide eyes. Remembering what she was supposed to be doing, she closes her book and stands up from her seat, slightly flustered.

"Oh! Sorry about that," Professor Rose said. Her voice was sweet and calming, "the desserts were simply too hard to resist. For those of you I haven't met yet, I am Professor Rosenquist, your residential Alchemy professor. Professor Mitchell asked me to stop by today to explain transmutations. As she just mentioned, transmutations are the process of changing one metal into another completely different metal. She is also correct that they typically involve changing a base metal into a noble metal, however, noble metal to base metal transmutations are not uncommon. There have even been instances of base metal to another base metal and noble metal to another noble metal transmutations. Although they are indeed similar to transformations, transmutations are different enough to have their own category." She continued to talk about alchemy, and she made the subject seem fun. The opposite from Snape with Potions.

"Thank you all for paying attention throughout today's lesson and thank you once again, Sera, for joining us! I will be passing out the midterms now, so please put away all your notes. There is both a test and essay section and you can leave them both up on my desk when you are finished. Good luck!"

Harry looked at the first question in his test and it read What are the four stages of Holometabolism in order? He couldn't remember the answer, so he went to the next question and decided to come back to it. Which animal class has a pair of antennae on their head? Insects! He knew the answer to that one as soon as he finished the sentence. True or False: It is possible to transfigure a caterpillar that will build its cocoon and turn into a butterfly if enough concentration is applied.

They sat their midterm and once they were done left to Gryffindor tower. They didn't have much time because they took forever on their midterm, but they did change their robes to go and eat dinner. After dinner Harry walked into the dormitory to see a package on his bed. Ron and Neville both looked at him confused and the three walked over to the bed. Harry picked up the package and opened it. He saw the bristles of a broomstick. He smiled and then ripped the entire package. He laughed. In front of him was a Firebolt. The fastest broom known to wizard kind. He looked at Ron and then at Neville and then he did a dance around the room.
