Another month has gone by, Peridot had delivered the geodes which were currently resting inside a make-shift nest in Garnets room. In the end, she delivered 6 geodes, 3 lime green, 2 ruby red and 1 orange. The orange geode was a surprise to everyone, but Garnet was quick to deduce that it could either be a fusion or an off-colour Peridot/Ruby.

Each Geode was unique and thus names were given to each one, the smallest, a peridot, had red spots located all over the geode, so they decided to name that one Dotty. The second smallest was also a Peridot, this time the geode was purely green, so they named it Data. Next came a Ruby, this was unique because the geode had green stripes all over it, so they named it Stripe. The final Peridot geode was next, this one had a big red splotch in the middle of the geode, they ended up naming it Paint. The second biggest geode was a ruby, it was pure red in colour, so they went for the name Heat. The final geode was the orange one, they wanted to give this one more of a human name, so they went for Jessy.

Peridot and Matthew were over the moon with the number of geodes they had, they were excited for the gemlings to experience the beauty of Earth and to be able to live their lives however they saw fit.

…..

Matthew was busy collecting rocks for the gemlings when they hatched while Peridot was keeping a close eye of them. It was been a week since they were laid so she was making sure they weren't hatching early. Garnet came to accompany her and share some news …

Garnet put a hand on Peridot's shoulder which made her jump but was soon calmed when she saw it was Garnet. "Peridot, you don't need to worry so much, my future vision tells me we still have a week before they arrive …"

(Peridot) "Yeah I know but I can't help it, I just want to see them and love them … and also introduce them to Camp Pining Hearts …"

Garnet chuckled a bit at the last part since it was Peridot she knew that she would show them CPH. "We are all excited to see them, we are all going to help you guys the best we can, but it might be difficult with what's going to happen …"

Peridot was worried about Garnet's tone; she didn't know if she wanted to ask but Garnet continued. "We have found an ancient gem location on Earth; we need to find out what's inside and figure out what to do with it … Most of the team will be away so it will just be you and Matthew at the temple. We aren't leaving till next week so be sure to be ready, okay?"

Peridot nodded and gave a small smile knowing the gemlings would be here next week but was now also worried as it would just be Matthew and her looking after the gemlings. "Garnet, are you sure all of you have to go? Why can't Steven stay here?"

Garnet thought for a minute. "I have no problem with Steven staying here but my future vision mostly says that it won't be dangerous, it would give Steven more experience as well. As for the rest of them, it just makes it, so we have security in numbers. Remember, it is an ancient gem site so I can't predict it entirely …"

(Peridot) "I understand, if you find anything that might be useful to me would you be able to bring it back?"

(Garnet) "Of course Peridot, I'll be getting out of your way to do some meditation, Matthew should be back in a few minutes. Take care."

Garnet was correct, Matthew came back with a few jars full of rocks and Pebbles. "Sorry I took so long, it was annoying to find rocks and pebbles that were small enough for the gemlings, but I think these should suffice for now."

Peridot gave a warm smile to Matthew. "Thank you, it is really appreciated. All I want to do is protect these little ones."

Matthew walked over to the nest; he was happy to see all the colour in each geode. "I'm with you on that one, I can't wait for them to hatch. By the way, Garnet filled me in with the plan for next week, I'm happy that it will just be me and you for a little while. I get to spend time with my favourite gem."

(Peridot) "Nyehehehe, I am too. Especially when with have the 6 little ones, I believe it won't be too much work when they hatch. From what I've read, they sleep for most of the time until they reach 2 months old."

(Matthew) "That's good news for us then!" Matthew let out a yawn before kissing his girlfriend on the cheek. "I think I'm gonna head to bed, I'm exhausted. Goodnight, I love you!"

Peridot held her cheek where he kissed, that never gets old to her. "Goodnight, I'll be here if you need me. Love you too!"

(The next chapter will have the gemlings hatch and the chapter after that will have the other gems exploring the ancient gem site. I plan on Steven finding out he's pink diamond in that gem site. Thank you for reading!)
