I'm so glad you all liked Bella's gift. Shall we get on with it?
An hour a day, three days a week didn't seem like enough time to teach these kids. Edward was frustrated with that. They just weren't getting it. Or most of them weren't. Edward could see most of the kids were getting fed up with how the rest of them were acting. Even Emily, a quiet girl in the class, stood up and shouted at Sam for pissing her off.
He'd been showing off with his friends, taking nothing seriously, when all of a sudden, Emily stood up, ranted at him about being a total idiot, then stormed out of the gym. Same stood there in total shock before running out after her.
They both came in later looking a little happier.
Bella, on the other hand, was in a world of her own.
"How's business?" Charlie asked as he sat down at the table outside Edward's office. Edward smirked.
"Hmm, what you really want to know is how Bella is coping with our teaching methods, right?"
Bella was interesting to Edward. Yes, she was feisty, but she was more than that. She reminded him of a little caged animal, pacing the floor, just waiting for her chance to escape. Edward noted that she had a lot of pent up emotions, and no matter what he tried to do; he couldn't coax her to let go.
She held in her emotions very well for a teenager. Yes, he'd seen her snarky and a little angry, but nothing more.
"The kids give her a hard time for being your daughter, Charlie. It's not easy being a cop's kid. I had the same being a doctor's kid and Angie, too, being the daughter of a preacher. Bella wants to walk the straight and narrow, I can see that, but underneath, she's desperate to break the mold. It's not Forks that she's ready to run from, but the little shits that give her a hard time. All the kids have been quite vocal about Bella being the 'good girl'. She hates it. I can see it in her eyes. She's just about ready to blow. I hope you're not going to have to end up arresting her," Edward explained, and Charlie was nodding.
"I had an idea about it but getting info out of Bella is like getting blood out of a stone. She's got this stupid idea that she can protect me from things. She forgets who the parent is. You know full well that her mom did a number on her, and she basically grew up overnight. We talk and we're open with each other, but as soon as I ask her about school, she clams up on me," Charlie sighed.
"I can help her out with it if you're on board. She'll probably end up hating me, and you'll certainly question me, but I can help her," Edward pushed.
"Do what you have to do to make my girl happy, Edward. That's all I want for her," Charlie replied as he stood back up again.
"Anything?" Edward asked.
"Anything, Edward. I want her happy. That's all I've ever wanted, for her. She smiles for me, but I can see that it's half-assed," Charlie replied.
"Oh, Charlie? Business is booming here, by the way. And that brings me on to my next plan. Think you'll be on board for this one?" Edward asked with a laugh as he pointed to something. Charlie looked puzzled, but then laughed.
"You're on, Kid."
So, Edward has another plan brewing. Any ideas?
