no idea where I'm going with the story, at this point I'm just along for the ride like the rest of you.

chapter's called the kitchen sink because I threw it together very hurriedly and also because I don't feel like thinking of a creative title. quite similar to the cookies it really depends on the person; it could be horrible or amazing.

you decide.

"...and it seems over the years that my respect and fondness for you has somehow turned into a love so deep and passionate- wait what?" Clover wrinkled her nose and came to a stop, completely mortified by the words that suddenly flowed from her mouth. "Blech! Nobody says that Clover."

Groaning, she ran her hands over her ears in frustration.

"Oh come on-why is this so difficult?" Because for some reason she couldn't recall declaring her love for Koto and Sage being quite so nerve-racking.

"I've never had this much trouble before. It was always just yadda yadda sappy sappy-boom, love declared and new lemur-hunk-fighting-machine at my service." Sighing she took a seat on a nearby rock.

"Who am I kidding, this isn't some fangirl crush on a passerby mountain lemur-" she paused, "muscular passerby mountain lemur. No, this is me telling my best friend of six years that I want to date him. No wonder it's so freaking hard." Sliding down to the ground so her head was laying on her previous seat, Clover gazed thoughtfully at the sky.

How do I do this without making it weird? Maybe if I asked someone for some advice-

No! Make it weird.

Completely caught off guard, Clover jumped to her feet and spun around in a fighting stance, ready to face her attacker.

Who was none other than- "Mort?" she called out, lowering her fists in confusion. "What are-what're you doing here? Were you in my head?!"

Mort giggled cheekily as he wiggled from side to side, "Maybe..." his expression turned serious, "you really shouldn't think so loud, Clover. I bet they can hear you all the way from the evil foot king dimension, but also not really king dimension because I'm in charge now dimension- and that's a long way."

Not even bothering to decipher her friend's gibberish, she knelt down in front of him, "Mort can I talk to you about something really important?"

Closely investigating the finger that had just reemerged from his nose, Mort absently nodded at her. "Uh-huh."

Clover sat down in front of the mouse lemur and lowered her head to catch his gaze. "It's a secret though, ok? You can't tell anyone about it." She paused for a second before whispering, "Not even King Julien." Especially not King Julien.

Mort suddenly glared at her with an intensity that had her heart skipping a beat, "Not tell my KING JULIEN?!" The vicious shriek echoed all around them as storm clouds gathered in the sky; lightening cracked and thunder roared as Mort seemed to grow in size, towering over a now quite disturbed Clover. She closed her eyes.

"Ok. Sure."

Eyes flying open Clover took note of her surroundings; everything had gone back to normal. The clouds were gone and Mort was back to being the size of a large potato.

Flabbergasted she attempted to stutter out the question to ask what had just passed as Mort stood uncharacteristically still and calm in front of her.

"What? I-how? You were-? And then you were-! And the sky and-" the words came to a halt when she noticed Mort's completely clueless face. Rubbing her forehead to ease what she was sure was soon to be a horrible headache she sighed a frustrated "nevermind" as Mort edged closer and started to jump at her feet excitedly.

"What's the secret Clover?"

"So... let me get this straight, "Mort said matter-of-factly, "You love King Julien too?"

Clover threaded her fingers together awkwardly and sighed, "Yes. And I was going to go tell him before I ran into you, but..." her voice trailed off while Mort watched her with a growing ferocity.

What came next had been completely unexpected.

"Well THEN," Mort's sudden raised tone caused Clover to jump, "-what're you waiting for woman? You ain't gettin' any better looking."

Clover just stared.

"But I- what do I say?"

"What do you think?!" He snapped.

The female lemur regarded him awkwardly, "I...I love you?"

Mort threw his hands in the air, "So she's not hopeless after all. Now go so I don't have to deal with any more awkward interactions between you too." Shaking his head he muttered to himself, "I declare it's like watching some cheesy soap opera."

Completely taken aback by the sudden turn in events Clover watched her friend in almost awe.

"Wow Mort. Not what I was expecting when I spilled my guts to you." She grinned and gave him a quick hug before taking off, "Thanks."

Mort watched her sprint towards the plane and let out a hiccup. "For what?" As if suddenly remembering recent events he called after her, "Clover what was the secret?"

"No she didn't already tell us you stupid old man," Mort snapped, singling out smart Mort from one of the many incessant voices inside of his head, "I've been here the whole time."

With a new found confidence Clover climbed the baobab tree, finally prepared to take the final step that would change her life forever. As she entered the plane she took in a deep breath, and approached the curtains. Shakily exhaling she whispered I love you under her breath for practice and with her head held high, threw open the curtains, prepared to tell Julien everything.

But not prepared to explain things to his parents too.

Both of which stared at her accusingly and with eyes full of hatred when she entered.

And she knew. Before being told she knew.

Helplessly her eyes flitted over to meet Julien's as her face drained of color and she felt as though she might pass out. Please Frank, please no.

But as their eyes met, one pair looking shocked the other quickly filling with tears, she saw it in his gaze.

He knew too.

As her heart sank into her stomach and her lungs fought for air, Clover did the one thing that anyone else in her situation would immediately think to do.

Run.

In case there was any confusion when Mort was acting ooc it was because smart Mort was trying to come out for a bit but he didn't quite make it. So what I wrote was the result. The whole storm thing was just Mort being Mort and terrifying me and everyone else half to death, so nothing new there.

*rubs hands together* review time!

Clov2000: aww happy you're still reading

You're Great: Still so glad you're still reading too :D I hope you liked it. I did kind of just "throw this together" but I hope it's ok. Schoomp to come in next chapter-this I promise! Try to carry on until then uwu

FunkyFrank: ok but THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS. I really REALLY wanted to keep everyone in character and for you to say that I'm doing just that makes me so happpyyyy. and I inspired someone? Well then I can die happy :) and I would LOVE to read your fic whenever it's done. is it for ahkj or something else? Can't wait!

JoverShipper: idk if you'll see this or not...I forgot you go by Raven? Clo's fine for me then xD) sorry if I missed responding to anything it's been awhile...
1. I started Grimm so you can rest in peace now.

2. My shoulder angel (and yes I quite agree with the demon part but he doesn't so let's not upset him) is actually quite content right now. Granted he has been stealing all of the food that you throw at me, half of it he eats, half of it he throws at me anyway...BUT with two chapters coming out so close together he's been doing much better.

3. This didn't come out sooner because I was on vacation and among other things I saw a bear and that just took some processing time ya know?

4. I don't play video games but glad you're having fun with them and all. thanks for the german lesson btw (always wanted to learn german *sighs in badly spoken french*). At least I'm attempting to learn another language so yay? Also why are the ahkj characters attacking you. Should I be concerned

5. Enjoy the cliffhanger!

Peace out,
