Previously,

Magnus gasps and says, "Alexander?"

"Hey, Mags," Alec croaks out.

Magnus stares at Alec with wide eyes, "What? How? No. No this is not real. You're not here. This is not real. You died. You're dead,"

Magnus starts trembling and Alec reaches out and puts his hands on Magnus' arms. "It's real. I'm here. I'm alive."

Magnus shakes his head, "How? I went to your funeral. You're funeral Alexander!"

Alec closes his eyes and whispers,"I know."

"You know?! Was your death some kind a joke? Did I not matter to you, that you had to fake your own death. Is this ring not what I think it is?" Magnus rambles all these questions because he cant believe that Alec is right in front of him.

"Mags, no you are everything to me," Alec says

"Then what the FUCK is going on?" Magnus asks as Alec winces. Magnus usually does not curse.

"I'll tell you. C-can we go inside?" Alec asks.

"Whatever you need to say, you can say it here," Magnus says,crossing his arms.

Alec looks around, hoping no one finds him there, he doesn't see anybody but he doesn't want to risk it."Mags, please."

Magnus closes his eyes and lets out a breath,"Fine." Magnus gestures to Alec to follow him but he keeps on glancing back to make sure Alec is still there.

They go inside and walk towards the living room. Alec looks around the new place and lets out a sigh. There's no spark. Nothing that screams Magnus.

Is this what I did to him?, Alec thinks. But Alec is broken out of his thoughts when Magnus immediately stops and Alec bumps into him.

"W-wha-" Alec immediately stops talking when he sees Raphael. "Shit."

"What the hell are you doing here?!" Rapahel asks.

"Raph… Wait. Just wait. You knew?" Magnus says with wide eyes.

Raphael realizes his mistake and looks away.

"Magnus," Both Alec and Raphael say at the same time.

"Stop. Just Stop," Magnus says, rubbing his temples and then faces Alec. "Talk."

"I- I uh. It's a long story", Alec says.

"I have time," Magnus replies.

"Remember that night when we first met?" Alec asks Magnus but Magnus is still staring at Alec , not believing that he is actually there in front of him.

Magnus clears his throat and says, "Yeah. We met at my club. I saw you and I thought to myself that you're the most beautiful man I have ever seen, so I sent you a drink."

"That was the plan," Alec says, looking down.

"What are you talking about?" Magnus says, starring Alec down.

"I went there to see you on purpose Magnus. I saw you go to the bar, so I followed you and stood next to you. Getting you to notice me, check. We made eye contact, check. Made sure you watched me leave, check. Send me a drink, check and you approach me, checkmate."

Magnus' eyes get wide."What the hell are you talking about?"

Alec closes his eyes and breathes in and out, "That whole night was planned by me because getting to know you was part of my mission."

"What mission?" Magnus says as he gets agitated.

Alec sighs and the truth comes out "I'm an undercover agent and I was given the mission to take down asmodeus. But in order to do that I had to use you to get to him. I had to gain your trust and gather information about him and I-I had to see if you were working with him."

Magnus lets out a breath he was holding "What? But I wasn't. I had nothing to do with him."

Alec closes his eyes and whispers "I know."

That did it.

"You know. YOU KNOW. Then why. If you knew that I wasn't. Then why did you keep on seeing me? No wait. Using me," Magnus says as his voice breaks. Magnus stares at Alec with so much pain and anger in his eyes.

"Mags-"

"Don't. Call. Me. Mags." Magnus says, furious.

Alec flinches, "Magnus, I never meant to hurt you. I knew from the moment we had our first date that you weren't working with Asmodeus... That's a lie. Even before that."

Magnus crosses his arms. "You haven't answered my question."

Alec sighs, "I needed proof."

"Well I'm sure you got your proof and yet you kept on seeing me. Why?" Magnus shakes his head. He couldn't believe that this was happening.

"Because you weren't just a mission for me. I was in too deep," Alec admits.

Magnus scoffs, "You expect me to believe that."

"Yes. Baby, yes. I always set up rules for myself before going on an undercover mission. I can't get attached. Most importantly, I can't ever sleep with anyone or fall in love. I was never meant to fall in love with you. But I did and I couldn't let you go," Alec says trying to make Magnus believe him."

"So what, Alexander. You kept on going with your little facade and lied every chance you got? Wait. Just wait. Is Alexander really your name? Or was that a lie too?" Magnus asks incredulously.

"No. That's my real name. But people call me Alec," Alec says slowly, knowing what Magnus will ask next.

Magnus eyes widened a bit, "And your last name?"

Alec winces.

"I'm taking that as a yes." Magnus sighs and shakes his head, "What is it then?"

"Uh. Lightwood," Alec says in a small voice. Yes. This whole name thing was ridiculous and stupid of him. But you can't blame him. It's Magnus. Magnus makes him fluster.

"Light. Lightwood. Wow," Magnus rolls his eyes and stares at the ceiling.

Raphael snorts in the back.

"I was supposed to introduce myself as… but I was so captured by you, that my real name slipped out. I would have told you my last name too if I didn't catch my mistake."

"Such a terrible name," Raphael mumbles.

Magnus turns to look at Raphael and points at him "Shut it. You're not getting out of this, so easy." Raphael gulps and looks down.

"What else did you lie about?" Magnus asks as he puts his attention back to Alec.

" life. Clearly my occupation. Um. Family. I'm not an only child. I have three siblings. Where I live." Alec admits, hating himself for hurting Magnus this way and the fact that Magnus is staring at him, like he's a stranger.

Tears fall down on both of Magnus and Alec's faces. Alec out of guilt and Magnus out of anger and betrayal.

"So pretty much everything," Magnus states with a small voice as he tries to wipe his tears away..

"Not everything. My feelings for you are real." Alec says.

"I'm finding that very hard to believe right now." Magnus whispers.

Alec flinches. It's as if someone stabbed him in the gut.

"Who's place was that? We spent a lot of time there. Intimate times." Magnus says after a moment of silence.

"It's my adoptive brother's second place," Alec answers.

"Second place?" Magnus asks, looking at Alec,confused.

"He's an undercover agent too. You actually met him."

Magnus looks confused at first and then realizes something,"Jonathan?"

"Yeah. He goes by Jace."

"Of course he does. Oh my god" Magnus sways a bit and Alec and Raphael try to keep him steady but Magnus puts a hand up and says, "Don't."

Magnus sits down, more tears running down his face. "This whole time.. This whole time I was being lied to. Our whole relationship was a lie. You created this whole persona just to grab my attention and made me fall in love with you."

"I'm so sorry," Alec says, knowing that it's not going to change anything.

"Were you even going to tell me?" Magnus finally asks the loaded question.

"Yes. I was going to tell you everything. There were times where I was about to but didn't. I just kept on hurting you and me in the process." Alec says. He wants to move closer to Magnus but he knows that Magnus will push him away.

Magnus stays quiet for a while and shakes his head.

"How did you do it? How did you get him behind bars? That was you right?" Alec nods. "How?" Magnus asks again.

"The day he showed up at your loft, he approached me in the hallway. I had to pretend that I was interested in his work but I had to keep you out of it. I made a deal with him. Told him that I would work with him as long he doesn't threaten you, or bother you again."

Magnus looks down.

"I worked with him as I gathered more information about his business. I worked my way up, so that I can earn his trust and completely shut down his business. I reported everything to the agency about his plans, his schedule and I became his second hand. I was able to find all the proof I needed to put him behind bars. I did. Pretty much had another team of agents to raid the place," Alec continues.

"Did he know it was you?" Magnus asks, worried.

"Yeah. He looked right at me and immediately knew." Alec admits and doesn't elaborate more because he knows how much of a touch subject Asmodeus is.

Magnus looks away for a moment and sighs,"Thank you. I know it was your mission but I know you did it for me too. Unless I think you did."

"Of course I did. You mean everything to me." Alec takes a chance and tries to step closer but Magnus shakes his head. Alec looks down and backs away.

Magnus looks at Raphael and crosses his arms.

"Shit Magnus. I found out recently but couldn't say anything. My precinct chose a couple of us to work with some people at the Nephilim institute. I did not know that Alec was part of that institute. Trust me, the moment I saw him, I let him have it. I was so angry for what he did to you. Pretty much would have killed him if Jace didn't stop me." Raphael begins talking.

"How recent?" Magnus asks

Raphael looks down..

"Right. So what? Now you're working with him?" Magnus asks nodding towards Alec.

"Not necessarily. Asmodeus had people keeping an eye on you," Raphael says.

Magnus freezes. "What. Why?"

"To get to me. He wanted to kill me." Alec answers. Mgnus looks at Alec for a moment and then looks back at Raphael.

"Jace and I had to make sure you were safe and keep this idiot from coming to see you and ruin everything. Which he almost did. Many times. Almost ruined his career for good," Raphael says, annoyed.

Magnus looks at Alec. "You came to see me?"

Alec nodded, "But got caught a couple of times. Wasn't allowed to go near you. I was suspended for a year after the mission for breaking the rules."

"I can't believe this," Magnus says shaking his head.

"We wanted to keep you safe," Raphael says.

"So my best friend and the love of my life both lied to me. Good to know how much of an idiot I am."

"Magnus, no," Raphael and Alec say at the same time.

"Save it. Both of you. I mourned for you. Mourned. For two years and you were alive all this time. You had so many times to confess, but didn't. That's not keeping me safe. That's being a coward. I can't even look at you right now. Any of you," Magnus says, leaves, enters his bedroom and slams the door.

Alec and Raphael stay looking at the bedroom door.

"He's never going to forgive me is he?" Alec asks.

"I wouldn't. But he's a fool in love so just wait until he cools off," Raphael says.

Alec looks at Raphael in shock,"Are you actually letting me stay here to wait for Magnus to come back out?"

"Look, you two clearly have a lot of stuff to talk about. I'm just going to stay at Catarina's tonight. Don't screw it up. But tell me one thing, how the hell did this happen?" Raphael asks, crossing his arms.

Alec sighs, "I was waiting to see a glimpse at Magnus and I stepped on a twig. Magnus heard and demanded me to show myself. I should have been more careful."

"Sure you did. How did you sneak past your babysitters. I'm sure you were followed,"Raphael says,suspicious.

"I was. But I managed to trick them but not for long. They are probably looking for me now."

Raphael rolls his eyes and shakes his head, "Idiot. I'll figure something out. Just stay here."

"You're going to help me?" Alec looks at Raphael, surprised. He was not expecting that.

"I'm doing it for Magnus," Raphael says and starts walking towards the door.

Alec sighs and sits down on the couch, waiting for Magnus.

Magnus comes out of his bedroom and stops when he sees the sight in front of him. Alec is sleeping on the couch. Magnus wants to reach out and touch Alec's hair but decides not to.

Magnus clears his throat, startling Alec. Alec opens his eyes, sees Magnus and immediately sits up. "Mags, uh Magnus. How long have you been standing there?"

"Not long. You're still here," Magnus says with red rimmed eyes.

"Yeah, of course. I'm not going anywhere," Alec says.

"So it's true. Everything that you said, You being here, alive. You're actually alive. I didn't dream it," Magnus rambles.

Alec stands up, "Magnus?"

"I'm so angry at you. I'm furious. So furious. The only thing I asked of you was to not hurt me and you did. You completely broke my heart. All those times. All those memories I have of you. I can't even think about them because you weren't completely honest with me. The person I fell in love with, is not even real."

"I was always real with you. The person you fell in love with was me. I showed you, Magnus. I was myself when I was with you. That's why it was so hard not telling you the truth," Alec says.

"Not always. I don't even think I really know you. I don't know your story. Just the person you came up with. That's not being real Alexander. I only got some of you. Not all of you. I wanted all of you."

Alec looks down as tears run down his face.

"I want to hate you. I want to hate you so much for what you did," Magnus continues.

"You should," Alec whispers.

"But I don't," Magnus says and Alec looks up, with wide eyes. "I've missed you so much," Magnus says and runs towards Alec and hugs him.

Alec hugs him back and holds him tightly,"I missed you. I missed you so damn much. I never stopped loving you."

Magnus looks up, "Really?"

"Yes, really. I love you so much Mags. You're my whole world."

"I love you too, but I don't think I can forgive you," Magnus states. Alec looks down, nodding. "At least not now," Magnus continues.

"Okay, I understand," Alec says.

"And here," Magnus says as he reaches behind his neck to unclasp his necklace. He slides the ring off and gives it to Alec.

"No. Mags it's yours. I bought it for you," Alec explains.

Magnus gives Alec a sad smile, "I know. But I don't think I should wear this right now. Were you really going to ask me to marry you?"

"Yes. I was," Alec states.

"Without telling me the truth?"

"No. I was going to tell you. I swear, I was going to tell you but it was going to be your decision whether you wanted to stay with me or not."

"I would have stayed. But I would have said no. Just like I am now. It's going to take a lot for me to trust you again. I'm not going to be that naive guy that you met."

"Okay. Okay. But how about this? How about you keep the ring and the day I earn your trust again,you wear it," Alec says pleading Magnus with his eyes.

Magnus thinks about it for a second and sighs,"Okay. Let's do that." Alec gives Magnus the ring back and keeps his hand in the air.

Magnus looks at it,confused. "What are you doing?"

"What I should have done from the beginning," Alec says. "Hi, I'm Alexander Gideon Lightwood. I prefer to be called Alec but I only love it when someone says my full first name."

Magnus smirks, "Gideon?"

"It's a long story. I'll tell you all about it," Alec says.

Magnus shakes Alec's hand and says, "Magnus to meet you, Alexander."

Alec pulls Magnus into a hug and whispers into his ear,"I will make this right, love."

"There's a lot we need to talk about first," Magnus says.

"I'll tell you everything," Alec replies.

Epilogue:

Alec is looking at the mirror, fixing his tie when he hears a knock at the bedroom door. Alec turns to look and sees his mother and sister.

"Hey, what are you guys doing here?" Alec asks.

"We wanted to see how you were holding up," Izzy says.

"I'm good. Excited," Alec replies.

"I can tell by that big smile on your face," Maryse says and reaches out to fix Alec's tie.

"Thanks mom. How is he?"

Maryse laughs and says, "He's a love sick fool, like you."

Alec has a big smile on his face,"So is everyone ready?"

"Been ready big bro," Izzy says as she goes and hugs Alec. "I'm so happy for you and Magnus. He looks stunning," Izzy whispers in his ear.

"Thank you, Iz and he always does," Alec says as he lets go of Izzy and she leaves the room.

"I should head back to see the other groom," Maryse says and gives Alec a kiss on the cheek.

"Hey ma?" Alec says.

"Yes my boy?" Maryse looks back.

"Thank you."

"Anything for you. You two deserve the world." Maryse says and leaves the room as Robert enters the room.

"You ready son?"

"Yeah. Let's do this," Alec says.

"But before that, I just wanted to apologize-"

"Dad. You already apologized two years ago. We forgave you. He forgave me. Now, lets get me married to the love of my life."

"Well, I'm proud of you son. Truly, I am," Robert says, pats him in the back and they both leave to head to the garden.

Alec stands next to Jace. Jace pats him in the back and Alec faces his guests and sees his friends and family. He sees Raphael and he nods at Alec with a small smile on his face. He sees fellow agents in the crowd. He sees his baby brother, his sister and Simon. He sees Clary. He sees his father. He sees Catarina walking up. He sees everyone that is here to celebrate his love with the man of his dreams. Speaking of him, he sees Magnus entering with his mother and wow does he look stunning.

Alec and Magnus just stare at each other with big smiles on his face. Alec didn't think this would happen. Their relationship went through a rough patch after everything came out in the open. But here they are, completely happy, about to get married.

"Look at you. You're beautiful," Alec says with tears in his eyes.

"You don't look bad yourself," Magnus winks.

For Alec and Magnus, it felt like a dream until they had to say their I do's. They kiss and say "I love you, Mr. Lightwood-Bane. Forever and always."

They finally got their happy ending.
