Chapter 19-Unity day

Billy wakes up early in the morning. Raven was still asleep, her head on his chest while the blanket covered her and Billy's chest. Billy kisses Raven's head. Raven smiles and laughs. "How long have you been up?" Billy asks her.

"A few minutes before you," Raven says.

"We have to get up," Billy says.

"No. We should stay here all day," Raven says.

"It's unity day. We have to celebrate with our people," Billy says to her.

"You would rather be with them and not me in this tent alone," Raven says to Billy, who smiles.

"I would rather be in here with you, but if we don't go out, Wells and Murphy will drag us out without our clothes," Billy says to Raven, who sighs.

"Fine," Raven says. Raven gets up and pulls on her underwear and her pants. Billy watches her.

"I know I look great, but get up," Raven says. Billy smiles and stands up. He starts to put on his clothes. Raven kisses him as they finish getting dressed. "Want to go wake up Murphy and Harper?" Raven asks with a grin.

"Sure," Billy says. They leave their tent. The sun was still rising. They both walk over to Murphy and Harper's tent. Billy and Raven walk in and see Murphy and Harper sleeping with no clothes on either of them. A blanket covered them. Billy grabs Murphy's boot and sets it on Murphy's head. Murphy hits the boot off his head, which falls on Harper. Harper opens her eyes and looks at them. "Morning," Billy says. Harper hides her head in Murphy's neck.

"Murphy, you dumbass best friend, is in our tent," Harper says. Murphy opens his eyes and groans.

"I hate you both," Murphy says.

"Come on, get up. It's Unity day we have things to do," Billy says to Murphy, who nods.

"Fine, we'll get up. Get the hell out of my tent," Murphy says.

"See you soon," Billy says. He and Raven walk out of the tent and see Wells and Charlotte walk out of the tent they share with Emma. Billy sees Emma looking around the camp. He walks over to her.

"Looking for your boyfriend's flowers," Billy asks his sister, who blushes.

"I didn't think you knew," Emma says.

"I'm always watching," Billy tells her. Soon the hundred were up and all listing to Jaha.

"My friends, this is a historic Unity Day. Every year, we mark the moment our ancestors of the twelve stations joined to form the Ark, but this is the last time we do so while aboard her. Next year, on the ground," Jaha says.

"Right after we did all the work. Someone shut him up," Miller says.

"Shut up Miller nobody's forcing you to watch," Raven says to him.

"For ninety-seven years, we have eked out an existence, hoping that someday our descendants would return to Earth," Jaha says. Clarke looks at Finn.

"Don't tell me you don't like unity day," Clarke says to him.

"Unity Day is a lie. The Ark only came together after the thirteenth station was blown out of the sky. Just not the version of history we like to tell each other at parties," Finn says.

"The Unity Day story gives people hope, though, and peace came out of that violence," Clarke says.

"Monty strikes again! Call this batch Unity Juice! Who's thirsty? Monty! There you go," Jasper says.

"Hey. Save me some," Monty says to him as Athena, and Westley gets some. Westley hands a cup to Octavia, who smiles at him.

"Happy Unity day. Pass it around," Jasper says.

"To our sons and daughters on Earth listening to this message, we will see you soon. The first Exodus ship will launch in under sixty hours, carrying you the reinforcements that you need, so stay strong. Help is on the way," Jaha says.

The Ark

Jake was standing and watching everybody when Kane came over to him. "So you going down on the first ship?" Jake asks.

"Yeah. They need you here to bring everybody else on with the Ark," Kane says to him.

"I know. Just tell Billy and everybody else I'll see them soon," Jake says. Kane looks at his Callie. "How have you two been?" Jake asks.

"Good. We have been doing good was happy for the first time in a while," Kane tells him. Jake walks away as Kane's mother, Vera, comes over to him.

"They tell me you'll be on the first Exodus ship," Vera says to her son.

"Yes. I'm overseeing security on the ground," Kane tells his mother.

"Will you take the tree down for me?" Vera asks. Kane looks at his mom for a moment.

"Yeah. I'll take it down," Kane tells her she smiles. A girl comes over with other kids.

"Long ago, when the Earth was on fire, through space all alone. Then one day, Mir floated by Shenzhen, and they realized life would be better together. The other stations saw this, and they wanted to be together, too. When all the stations were formed, they called themselves," The girl says but was cut off by a bomb.

Kane sees his mom on the ground with a glass shard in her stomach. Kane holds her as Abby and Callie come over. Abby stands up after looking at Vera, knowing she can't be saved. She walks away as Callie hugs her husband. "In peace, may you leave the shore. In love, may you find the next. Safe passage on your travels until our final journey to the ground. May we meet again," Kane says as his mother dies. Jaha comes over.

"Kane, I'm so sorry. We need to get you out of here," Jaha says to Kane, who nods.

"Sir. This was a coup. Councilors Cole, Kaplan, Muir, and Fuji are dead. If you hadn't cut your speech short," Kane says

"Where Sydney?" Kane asks.

"She left," Abby tells him.

"I'll find her," Kane tells them.

"You do that, and double the guard at the dropship. I'm putting the Ark on lockdown," Jaha says

The Ground

Hey. The comms are still dead. They cut out during the pageant," Clarke says to Billy and Bellamy, who talked while watching Westley and Octavia talk with Monty Athena Charlotte and Wells.

"Best Unity day ever," Bellamy says.

"Do you really think now is a good time to be having a party? I mean, the Grounder is out there," Clarke says.

"Grounders. By now, he's made it home. He's probably putting together a lynch mob. Relax. I got security covered. Why don't you go get a drink? You look like you could use one," Billy says to her.

"I could have more than one," Clarke says.

"Then have more than one. Clarke, the Exodus ship carrying your mother comes down here in two days. After that, the party's over. Have some fun while you still can. You deserve it," Billy says to her.

"Fine. What about you two?" Clarke asks.

"I'll have my fun when the grounders get here," Bellamy says.

"And I'll have my fun when the ark is down here and we have peace with the grounders," Billy says to her. Finn walks into Raven's work tent.

"Making bullets on Unity day?" Finn asks.

"We have to be prepared I'm almost done," Raven says to him.

"Good come out when you're done. Join your boyfriend and your friends," Finn says before he leaves. Finn sees Emma leave and traits her. He fines here kissing Lincoln.

"Finn?! Lincoln, wait, wait! He's my friend," Emma says to Lincoln, who nods.

"I think you lost this," Finn says, showing Lincoln the knife Lincoln used to stab him. Emma and Lincoln lead him into the cave.

"So, what the hell are you doing here?" Emma asks.

"I could ask you the same thing. I could also ask how long you've known he speaks English or if your brothers know and I bet he does I also bet Raven Murphy Harper Charlotte and Wells know about that, but I won't ask any questions," Finn says before he grabs Lincoln's horn. "You blew this when your people were hunting us. You saved our lives. I have to believe there's more like you," Finn says.

"I stabbed you," Lincoln says.

"And we almost tortured you. If the two of us can get along, then maybe there's hope. Learn from history instead of repeating it, right? Finn asks.

"How's that gonna happen?" Emma asks.

"For starters no more killing," Finn says.

"I don't have the power to call a truce," Lincoln tells them.

"Then bring me to someone who does. Hey, look. The rest of our people are coming down here. The first ship lands in two days," Finn tells him.

"It's true," Emma tells him.

"And because of the attacks, they're sending mostly soldiers, the people that enforce our laws. The Ark is about survival at any cost, and they'll kill people who fall out of line. When those people get down here, if they feel threatened, they will start a war, and Billy and I don't want that. Neither do you, and I think that's why you blew that horn. Once the soldiers get here, it will be too late, and we'll have no power to stop them, but if they see that we're at peace, then maybe we have a chance to stay that way," Finn says to him.

"All right. You bring your leader. I'll bring mine," Lincoln says.

"Billy Clarke or Bellamy?" Finn asks.

"Billy," Lincoln says. Finn nods as he and Emma leave.
