Trigger warning for old fashioned beliefs on being gay. This does not reflect my beliefs.

its a short chapter just dinner and chats.

Stephen returned just as dinner was served to them.

"Alexander did you complete the case for the trial?" Stephen asked him. Eliza resisted the urge to say something. She did just as much work as he did today. Women never get credit though.

"It's mostly complete. I'll work tomorrow until Angelica's arrival", Alexander replied.

"Adaylia, pour us two glasses of whiskey", Alexander ordered her.

He offered one to Stephen, he took it while thanking him.

"We should sit outside. It is a warm evening", Alexander suggested. Eliza looked out the window. She smiled as they stood up.

"Peggy and I will meet you out there", Eliza caressed Alexander's arm. He nodded.

Peggy followed Eliza upstairs.

"Here", Eliza handed Peggy a cardigan before they headed outside.

Stephen and Alexander were sitting at a bench with a bottle of whiskey beside them.

"Ladies, please sit down", Stephen moved to give them room. They sat beside their husbands.

"I trust you are in college, Stephen. What are you studying?" Alexander asked Stephen. He nodded.

"I am studying law and classics at Harvard", he took a sip of his drink.

"That sounds very interesting", Eliza smiled.

Stephen shrugged.

"School is rather boring. You're not missing much", he laughed.

"But there's so much that I wanna learn and I can't just go and get taught. I have to steal random bits of information I can get my hands on", Eliza ranted. Alexander squeezed her hand and gave her a look to say stop talking.

"Wouldn't be boring for me because my brain works", she retorted. Stephen glanced at Alexander.

"Hey, that's not nice. Besides, we couldn't allow girls at school. It would be too distracting", Alexander silenced her. Eliza bit her lip. She couldn't say anything without disrespecting her husband.

"I have to agree. They would be very distracting indeed", Stephen said as he checked out Peggy. Peggy blushed slightly.

Eliza zoned out of their conversation. Instead she leant into Alexander while thinking of what it would be like to go to another country. She had seen Shakespeare plays about foregin lands. She had seen Othello with Angelica and Peggy not long before she met Alexander. It was set in Venice. It seemed like a very magical and relaxing country. It would be amazing to travel but it isn't safe.

"Don't you agree Eliza?" Peggy asked her. Eliza shook her head.

"I'm sorry I wasn't listening", she apologised to them. Stephen laughed.

"You always did that. Even as a child", he smiled at her. Eliza nodded and smiled politely.

"Do you agree that god would never intend man to love another man? It's unnatural", Peggy asked her. Eliza glanced at her husband. He had his gaze focused on the ground.

"Yes, of course it's unnatural. It must be an act of lucifer himself", she agreed with Peggy. She noticed how he tensed slightly.

"Alexander doesn't agree", Peggy laughed. Eliza interlocked her fingers in his.

"What do you believe?" She asked him. He repeated what he had said earlier when she wasn't listening.

"In the scripture it says God created humans in his own likelihood. He made us perfect. So what if a man loves another man. It doesn't concern us", he shrugged.

It started to drizzle, a light summer rain. Eliza gathered her dress.

"I am quite tired. I'm going to retire to bed", she announced. Alexander took her hand as she stood up.

"Stay, the rain will stop", he smiled at her. Eliza shook her head.

"I am tired", she restated to him. He nodded as he kissed her hand.

"Goodnight, until tomorrow", Eliza smiled at Peggy and Stephen. She took the pins out of her hair, cleaning her face and putting on her nightdress. She jumped when she saw Alexander watching her.

"Mr Hamilton, spying on a lady is a sign of very poor manners", she glanced at him through the mirror. Eliza stood up, pulling the sheets back.

"My apologies, Mrs Hamilton", he smirked at her.

Eliza shivered slightly.

"The bed is awfully cold, won't you join me?" She smiled innocently at him. He stripped to his socks before getting into bed. Eliza caressed his cheek before kissing him.

"I love you", she ran her fingers up and down his chest.

"Let me show you how much I love you", he whispered in her ear. Eliza moaned just at the thought of it. His words always had her undone.

Eliza woke up to Alexander watching her.

"Were you watching me sleep?" She rubbed her eyes. Alexander smiled at her.

"Yes", he admitted.

"Don't do that it's creepy", she laughed at him. She sat up and reached for her diary. She looked over their household budget.

"Have you gotten paid? We're running low on money", she asked him. He sighed lying on his back.

"No, I'll be paid after the trial. I'll be getting payment for fighting in the war soon as well", he let out a deep breathe. Eliza ran her hand over his arm.

"Don't stress yourself. We'll be fine", she put the diary away.

"I have to start work", he said as he got dressed. Eliza walked around to him.

"One thing before you go", she kissed him on the cheek.

"I love you but I also love coffee in case you want to bring me some", he smiled at her. Eliza laughed.

"I'll let you know when Angelica gets here", Eliza smiled as he kissed her hand before heading to his office.
