That Pineapple hurt the Little Fox.
Hibari held back a growl as his grey eyes fixated on the blood-soaked shirt of his little prey. The Pineapple was a lot more stronger than he thought if he was able to injure the blond-haired girl before him. Not once in the two years he knew Naruto, had he ever been able to land a single hit against her. She was always so fast to attack people.
But her speed was useless against someone like that Pineapple. That Pineapple was able to play tricks and just like him, his little fox hadn't been able to see through it. He presumed if he brought her with him then he wouldn't be able to fight. He was wrong. If he had brought her with him, she would have been in the same boat as him.
Hibari grinded his teeth together at the knowledge and locked eyes on the blood that clung to her shirt. Her shirt stuck against her stomach, revealing to him just how slender the Little Fox was. But it also reminded him again of how small she was. He inhaled and moved closer to the unconscious girl. He grimaced.
His ribs screamed but Hibari pushed himself forward. Little Fox was more important. His injuries was less than her own. Pineapple only used that stupid trident to attacked him when those cherry blossoms appeared. Pineapple used dirty tricks. The thought made him growl and he locked eyes on the bottom half of her shirt.
He would not be able to determine how much he wanted to hurt Pineapple until he saw Little Fox's scratches. I will determine his punishment after this. Bobbing his head, Hibari placed his hand on the bottom part of her shirt and then paused. He was going to see her stomach. If he pulled it up then he could see…
Not the time. Hibari grunted and moved the shirt up till it reached the underwire of her lacy orange bra. He stole a glance at the sleeping girl, grey eyes fixated on her relaxed expression before looking at her stomach. There was a deep cut but it was odd. Stream rolled off of her stomach and with a closer inspection, Hibari could see the injury was healing like there was no tomorrow.
Little Fox won in terms of natural selection. Not many humans could heal from such extreme injuries but Little Fox had always been different. She was faster than anyone. Stronger too. But it had been no use against that Pineapple. If it weren't for her genetics, Hibari knew his little prey would be close to death. The knowledge made him growl.
His irritation grew at the knowledge that he could have lost the Little Fox.
"That son of a bitch!" Hibari jerked his head down and irritated sapphire eyes met his own. His lips twitched when those furious blue eyes went from his hand to her stomach. Fury was quickly replaced with embarrassment and the Little Fox flushed a deep shade of red. He smirked. Cute. That was the only word he would use to describe the expression of her face.
His little prey always kept her emotions in a bottle but when she showed an emotion, Hibari felt an intense desire to keep it to himself.
"W-What the hell are you doing, Hibari?" His little prey asked. There was a squeak in her voice and he felt his lips widening the smirk. The cold fierceness of Little Fox was gone, replaced with a shyness that he knew the girl would never show anyone else. No one would ever see the girl like this and he would rather not have anyone else see her.
"Checking your wounds, Little Fox," he replied. Blue eyes widened and there was a flash of mortification in her eyes as if she was embarrassed of her own thoughts. Little Fox spends too much time with that Toad. The thought made him pause as he realized his little prey had a different thought process to what he had been doing. "You should spend less time with that Toad."
"Your eyes kept flickering to my breasts so you shouldn't be the one to talk," she grumbled, yanking his hand away and pulling her shirt down. Hibari shrugged. He would never deny it. As much as his little prey liked to forget, he was still a healthy male and like any male his eyes were drawn to her ample chest. It was just that he had respect for her not to do it in public like his subordinates.
Whenever they do it, he would make sure to punish them under the guise of something else.
"Little Fox, I am a male."
The words hung in the air and the whiskered girl flushed to an even deeper shade of red as her blue eyes wandered down to his pants. Embarrassment shone through her eyes and Hibari knew she recalled the incident between them. The incident where he squirmed underneath her as those blue eyes looked at him with so much innocence.
His little prey was a contradiction. She killed without a problem and knew the order of the world but was so innocent in the ways of males. Had he not wanted to focus to what she had to say, what would have happened? Would she have continue to grind against him, trying to test the limits of his patience and felt what he felt? Or would she realize just how dangerous her position was and run away?
Hibari would never know and he would not want to think about it again. The black-haired teen would rather not have to deal with fixing a problem. So he decided to change the topic and focused on what was on hand. Once this whole thing was over, he would find a new way of luring the Little Fox to him and not to that Peacock.
"How did Pineapple injure you?" He asked. No emotion leaked out of and even as he focused his eyes on her. A scowl played on her lips and irritation flashed through her eyes before being schooled into a blank one. She doesn't like being reminded. The knowledge made him sigh and he slumped against the wall as his little prey kept quiet.
He could push her to answer but Hibari knew his little prey was a stubborn young vixen. Pushing her would get no results. Keeping quiet and allowing her to make a decision would get him what he wanted. That was something he learnt from their meetings. He also learnt from those meetings when his little fox chewed on her plump lips that she debated to tell him to fuck off or come clean.
It had never bothered him until a few months ago when he had the longing of biting her lips.
"Pineapple Head can use illusions," his little fox answered. Bitterness leaked out of her voice and Hibari could see that his cute little prey was furious with herself. He wounded her pride. That was a feeling he knew all too well. His little fox was strong. Behind those thin arms was someone that could break a whole building and someone ruined it. "I'm weak against illusions."
"He fought dirty," Hibari said. It was a fact but it was also his own way of reassuring the girl and his Little Fox knew it too. The slight smile playing on her lips showed it. Amusement flashed through her eyes before fading away into blankness. It did not bother him. Herbivores would see it as her being cold.
He saw it for what it was: a defense mechanism and he was not going to call her out for it. Instead he would ask the other question that bothered him. The question that nagged at him from the moment that little canine herbivore tossed the little girl here.
"Why did you come, Little Fox?" He asked quietly. Blue eyes did not budge from its emotionless expression but Hibari knew for the signs to look for. A slight increase in her breathing rate. The way her pupil would move only just an inch to the left and then to the right. The way she fiddled with her hand. All of that were signs of her being concerned.
But he doubt the girl would be willing to admit.
"I was worried about you," Little Fox admitted. Hibari paused as blue eyes looked right at him. Sincerity shone through her eyes alongside another emotion that he thought she would never fully show. Fear. Little fox was scared for me. Did it irritate him? No. Maybe it would have irritated him a year ago.
But he knew it took a lot for Little Fox to worry and it took even more for her to admit out loud. She was never the type to vocalize her feelings. Hibari sighed. He couldn't even tell her that she was being silly for worrying about him. The fact his own blood soaked his clothes made it impossible for him to say anything.
If it had been anyone, he would be very irritated with their concern. But it seemed like his little prey did not realize that she was different for him since Naruto kept staring at him like she was expecting him to make a scene. He knew if it was anyone, he would make a scene. But he probably should make her realize he did not mind.
"Little Fox, I don't care," he informed her. Hibari could see that his little prey understood his words even if it was incomplete. Her shoulders relaxed and the whiskered-girl locked eyes on the ceiling instead of looking at him. He couldn't really tell what was going through her head when she didn't look him in the eye.
"I went to the hospital and did a check on all of the victims," Little Fox said. Tiredness colored her tone and she fixated her blue eyes on him. Do you want me to continue telling you what I found that made me concern? That was what he could see from her eyes and Hibari bobbed his head at her. "They pulled out the victim's teeth in a form of a countdown and when I figured it out…it made me realize that they were confident in their skill."
Hibari grunted. He figured that out when they attacked his committee but he never thought that the Pineapple would be a trickster. He thought fighting Little Fox had been difficult but that Pineapple was a different form of difficulty. He cheated and hurt the Little Fox. The reminder angered him even more.
"I'm going to bite that Pineapple to death."
He could see that the Little Fox did not approve of his words from the way her eyes shone with irritation and disapproval. She grunted and pushed herself up from the ground. The whiskered teen poked him in the rib and Hibari hissed. Blue eyes narrowed and he could see the orders in her eyes.
Show me how bad your wounds are or I will do it myself! The demand made him pause and his grey eyes locked onto her. It was rather odd for someone to ordered him around. He should nip her by the neck to tell her not to do it. But her eyes looked like it meant business and that she was willing to fight him about this.
If he didn't want to have another situation again then he should listen to her. Hibari sighed and unbuttoned his shirt. He could see the innocent curiosity and worry shining through her eyes. The little fox moved closer to him, not wincing one bit as she came closer to him. Instead her eyes drank him in as he uncovered his flesh to her.
"Little Fox, I like your demands."
The blonde sighed.
"You are lucky you are injured or I would have smacked you for saying it like that."
He only smirked.
"There is no way that I can defeat Mukuro when not even Uzumaki hasn't come back."
Tsuna ran his hand through his hair as several students from other school scrambled away from him, Haku and Reborn. There was no point for him to argue against the order given by the Ninth. Not when Naruto reminded him that he needed to prove that he was worthy of the job before trying to decline it. He knew that, which was why he didn't kick up a big fuss.
But he was also a realist. The chances of him defeating Mukuro was very low. As the ranking had put it, Naruto and Hibari were the best fighters in the school. Hell, he did not even think the whiskered girl was even natural with what he had seen her do in her training. If someone like Uzumaki struggled to defeat Mukuro then how could he do it?
He was weak.
"I found you, Haku!" A familiar voice yelled. Tsuna twisted his head around and relaxed his shoulders at the sight of Jiraiya. The white-haired man walked up to them with a wide smile playing on his lips, but the brown-haired boy could see the concern shining through his eyes when he saw Naruto wasn't with them.
"Jiraiya-sama," Haku greeted. The brown-haired boy kept his tone light and calm even though a frown played on his lips. Tsuna watched the high-school student as he flicked his eyes to his watch. He knows something is up. It had been hours since Naruto left to rescue Hibari and it seemed like this was not something that the teen expected to happen.
"She hasn't come back, has she?" The middle-aged man asked. Tsuna stole a glance at Reborn and wondered what his tutor would do. Was he going to jump in and answer? Or was he going to give Haku the opportunity? It was hard for him to tell with his tutor. Also what would Haku do? Would he tell Jiraiya the truth? Tsuna doubt that he would ever have the courage to do it.
Only because the white-haired man kept making him squirm with the way his eyes kept looking at him like he was a ghost.
"She hasn't even sent me a text message to tell me that she is done," Haku replied. The brown-eyed boy blinked. So Uzumaki actually did tell the boy when she was done with something? Tsuna always thought Naruto would just disregard the concern of other people like Hibari did. But it seemed like his classmate did know when to send a message.
Jiraiya closed his eyes and rubbed his chin. Tsuna could tell from the way that the man was frowning that he was concerned with this piece of information. Five hours had passed since Naruto left. No phone call or message to tell Haku that she was done with the work. If he was to connect the dots then Tsuna would have to say that it pretty much confirmed she was in trouble.
"Tsuna is going to rescue her," Reborn said. Black eyes widened and the white-haired man twisted his head to look at him. Tsuna bit back the reflex to tell the toddler not to put words in his mouth and instead waited for Jiraiya to laugh. After all how could he defeat Mukuro when Naruto struggled? It was insane.
But those black eyes did not seem to think that Reborn was making a joke out of him. If anything it was thoughtful as if he actually believed he could do it. It was rather odd when he thought about it. If Uzumaki was here, she would be the one telling Reborn that he shouldn't send someone like him to Mukuro.
"Your opponent isn't going to be easy but I doubt Reborn will send you in there if he isn't certain you can win," Jiraiya commented. Tsuna opened his mouth to correct him, only for the toddler to whack him in the head. I'm not lying to him! He could never look the man in the eye if he failed to do this.
He rubbed the back of his head as Jiraiya fished something out of his pocket. It looked almost like a talisman. There were some familiar characters on the paper but Tsuna could not understand why he brought it out. From the amount of times he met the man, not once had the 14-year-old believed that the white-haired man was superstitious.
"It won't look good if I get involved with civilian affairs, Haku," Jiraiya said as he handed the talisman to the boy. Haku inspected the paper and Tsuna wondered if there was something special about the paper since Haku gawked at it. "But if Naruto is really in deep trouble then you need to use this."
"But this is—"
"—It is necessary," Jiraiya said, darting his eyes at them. Tsuna could only scrunched his eyebrows together as he tried to understand what was going on. What was so important about that piece of paper? Why did Haku look at it like he was terrified? He wanted to ask but something told him that neither of them would answer the question. "The moment you feel that, use it. No one is safe when she enters that state."
Haku grimaced and pocketed the paper into his pocket. His brown eyes looked troubled and Tsuna knew if he glanced at Reborn then his tutor was probably looking at them with curiosity. He couldn't blame him. What did Jiraiya meant by that? And what state? Was there something else more terrifying about Naruto that they did not know.
"Do you really think it will come to that?" Haku asked. "How many…"
"Nine but even one is dangerous for a civilian," Jiraiya answered. It felt like they were talking in a code that Tsuna could never understand. What did they mean by nine and one? It was tempting to ask but then he thought of Uzumaki. If he asked about her personal affair then she might charge him for asking about her personal life.
She had a way of knowing things after all.
"It looked like the Pineapple Bastard stabbed you with a large fork!"
Blue eyes narrowed her eyes as her fingers traced around the punctured wounds on his ribs and stomach. She didn't know much about first aid but she did have some idea. If I had seen this when I found that bastard, I would have killed him. The thought made her growled and the blonde glanced at his white shirt.
It would look less inappropriate if it was Hibari that looked half-naked then her. She grinded her teeth together, grabbed the shirt and tore off the clean half of the shirt. Grey eyes did not widened at her approach and the blonde pushed the teen up against the wall. This shouldn't be too hard. She straddled the teen, making sure to plant herself firmly on his legs as she began wrapping the white shirt around him.
"Do you have to put yourself in this position?" Hibari asked. His grey eyes looked down at her and Naruto paused. Position? She looked down at her ass and locked onto the familiar bulge on his pants. Her cheeks burned and the blonde looked back at the older teen. His grey eyes gazed at her with an intensity that made her feel like she was drowning in his eyes.
She could see his eyes flickering back down to her chest and the blonde was suddenly reminded that he was a boy. Don't be flustered! He needs this. But it was kind of hard for her not to be when she could really feel it poking against her. She shook her head. Not the time for her to focus it.
"Well it will be awkward for me to do it by the side," she answered. Her tone was cool and calm as she continued to wrap the white piece of his shirt around his wounded area. Grey eyes never once strayed from her hands. It almost felt like he was trying to burn her hand or maybe it was something else.
She pressed herself against him as her hand moved to his back. Hibari leaned forward, making it easier for her to continue the job, and his breath tickled her. It was so warm. So hot that she felt tempted to check his forehead but then it would mean moving back. That would then lead to her squirming against him and…
She needed to stop sneaking peeks from Jiraiya's books.
"How did he hurt you?" Naruto asked. She should distract herself. There was no need for her to focus on his knife and how it was rubbing against her. There was no need for her to pay attention on the heat radiating from him. Hibari was injured. Just because she was at the age of exploration, did not mean her mind should wander there.
"Pineapple attacked me when there were Cherry Blossoms," he answered. His breath ghosted against her ear and Naruto found her eyes wandering to his lips. He was injured. She should patch him up. So it was a definite no for her to pay deep attention to those thin lips. If she even think of going near his lips then it would make her no better than Sakura or Ino. "I get sick around them."
That was a knowledge that made her push him back against the wall and jerked her head at him. Grey eyes shone with irritation while Naruto stared at the wounds with a new found knowledge. When had he started getting sick? Why hadn't he came to her for help? Haku would have known how to heal him.
Was his hatred for Haku that great? There were just so many more questions for her to ask but she ignored it. Now was not the time to scream at him for his behavior. They were currently in an enclosed space. A very enclosed space. She gulped. Had the room always been this small? Because she just realized that even if she did remove herself then there wouldn't be as much room.
Half of the room was covered by his legs and Naruto shook her head. Again not the time to notice these details. It was time for her to babble or else she might end up noticing something even more weird.
"Is that why you have been avoiding the Cherry Blossoms around school?" Naruto asked. Hibari grunted and she took the answer as a yes. Her hand rested on his chest as she looked down at the makeshift bandage. She should finish bandaging him up. Unlike her, he did not have a furry monster inside of him that could heal his wounds.
She hummed a small tune as her blue eyes focused on patching him up. Goosebumps formed around her arms as grey eyes continued to watch her with a burning intensity. Naruto kept her hand steadied and darted her eyes back to the grey orbs of her ally. She could feel her heart speeding up as those grey eyes looked down at their position.
"Are you going to break us out of here?" He asked. Naruto paused and looked at his bandaged ribs and chest before looking back into his eyes. His wounds were now bandaged but she doubt he could walk or even move properly. If he could then she wouldn't have to do this. She could break them out right now but she knew Hibari.
The fact she knew him made her decision.
"You are injured and sick," Naruto muttered, putting her head down on his neck. She needed to think and his usual scent of pinewood always allowed her to calm down. Hibari sighed and rested his hand on her lower back. "If I break us out of here, you are going to charge right at him without thinking about your injuries."
Hibari placed his hands around her waist and steadied her. She could almost feel the scotching heat of his hands, trying to burn through her and that only made her sigh. She didn't know what they were doing but it felt reassuring in a way. Naruto always thought he would get pissed with her for pointing this out but he was listening to her.
"He mocked me," Hibari growled and she guessed she was wrong about him being reasonable. "And injured you."
Those two words made her heart stop and Naruto tilted her head up. Rage shone through his eyes. He was definitely furious for the mockery Mukuro had done on him. That was something she longed suspected. But to hear his fury over her injury made her throat dried up. Hibari was emotionless most of the time but he was showing anger for what happened to her.
That was not what she expected to happen.
"If you go to him and he makes those cherry blossoms then we are back to square one," she reminded him. Hibari grunted and she took that as his way of pouting to her. Her ally might never actually pout but a different tone to his grunt would tell her if he was pouting at her. The older teen narrowed his eyes and the blonde sighed. "It will be pointless to recklessly attack."
"Little Fox, we can't stay here."
Naruto grimaced and slumped her shoulders. "I know but I don't know how to defeat someone like him."
"How do we get rid of his trick?" He asked. The blonde sighed and combed her finger against his hair as grey eyes locked onto her. What would be the way to defeat him? She could always injured herself. Pain took away from the genjutsu. But would it work with what illusions like Mukuro? She couldn't know.
She also couldn't tell Hibari because he was going to be so reckless.
"If I knew, would I still be here?" She asked.
Hibari grunted and the blonde blinked when the teen nipped her ear. Her face burned up as his breath danced around her ear. The pain was sharp and short, probably unnoticeable but the blonde felt it. She could feel her breath increasing and her eyes looking everywhere but at him as she tried to understand what just happened.
"Why?"
The teen curled his lips into a smirk. "Lying doesn't suit you, Little Fox."
Her eyebrows twitched.
"Well being a damsel in distress also doesn't suit you, Hibari."
That only earned her another nipped on her ear.
She really should have kept her mouth shut.
