Responsibility
Minutes later, David and Summer were now walking together as night approaches as the setting sun is now a purple hue. For the first time in his life since David has been living away from his past, David has now reunited with Summer, his best friend, who's now his lover. While walking together for a while, David spoke " Isn't it a great farm?" asked David to Summer, " It is beautiful. But I don't understand something. You've been alive all this time. Why didn't you come back to The Great Red Barn?" asked Summer, " Well, I just needed to... get out on my own. Live my own life and I did and it's great," said David as he climbs onto a hammock, but David sounded almost like he was trying to convince himself as well as Summer.
" But we really needed you at home," said Summer, " No one needs me," said David quietly, " Yes, we do. You're the leader," said Summer, " Summer, we've been through this. I'm not the leader. Duke is," said David, " David, Duke has let the Strays take over the Farmlands," said Summer, David seemed shocked by this. " What?" asked David, " Everything's destroyed. There's no food, too much water. David if you don't do something soon everyone will starve and drown," said Summer, " I can't go back," said David as he gets off his hammock and starts walking away, " Why?" asked Summer loudly, " You wouldn't understand," said David, " What wouldn't I understand?" asked Summer, " No, NO, No. It doesn't matter. Patch Of Heaven," said David hastily, " What?" asked Summer confused, " Patch Of Heaven. It's something I learned out here. Look sometimes bad things happen…," said David, " David!" said Summer, " ...And there's nothing you could do about it. So why worry?" said David now being irritated, then David starts to walks away from Summer, but Summer trots back up to him and said " Because it's your responsibility,".
" Well, what about you? You left?" asked David to Summer, " I left to find help! And I found YOU. Don't you understand, David? You're our only hope," said Summer, " Sorry," said David now being more irritated, " What happened to you? You're the David I remembered," said Summer, " Well, you're right. I'm not. Now are you satisfied?" said David, " No, just disappointed," said Summer, " You know, you're starting to sound like my father," said David as he starts to walk away again, " Good. At least, one of us does," said Summer, David suddenly stopped and was obviously cut by the comment about his father. How dare she talks about hs father like that? David turns to Summer angrily and said " Listen, you think you could just show up and tell me how to live my life? You don't even know what I've been through,".
Then David begins to walk away again. " I would if you just tell me," said Summer, " Forget it!" said David as he storms off into the bushes, " Fine!" said Summer as she looks away angrily.
