Fifteen

The next morning, Jasper wasn't in bed with me but I noticed he was at the table with Alice at his side; both were leaning over another sheet of paper. Drowsily I walked over; Jasper did a double take, his eyes darkening at my attire, but returned to Alice's drawing.

"You see something else?" I asked Alice.

She drew a square room, with dark beams across the low ceiling. The walls were paneled in wood, a little too dark, out of date perhaps. The floor was carpeted, dark with a pattern in it. There was a large window against the south wall, and an opening through the west wall that led to the living room. One side of that entrance was stone – a large tan stone fireplace that was opened to both rooms. The focus of this room was the perspective. The TV and VCR balanced on a too small wooden stand, in the southwest corner of the room. An aged sectional sofa curved around the TV and a small round coffee table sat in front of it.

"The phone goes here," I murmured eyes wide, and my heart beating steadily harder.

"That's my mother house,"

Bella had woken and come out into the living room. Alice was already off the couch and dialing. I felt calm flood through the room as Jasper tried to control the emotions in the room.

"Bella," Alice called to her.

"Edward is coming to get you. He and Emmett and Carlisle are going to take you somewhere, to hide you for a while."

"Edward is coming?" She asked hopeful.

"Yes, he's catching the first flight out of Seattle. We'll meet him at the airport, and you'll leave with him."

"But my mother…he came here for my mother, Alice!"

"Jazz and I will stay till she's safe."

I couldn't help but realize that she held only concern for Charlie and Renee. I bit my cheek and walked in to the other room, not really wanting to hear Bella's hysterics. Eventually Bella shoved away from Jasper and slammed the door to the other room. I winced, it was incredibly childish of her. Jasper came over and sat behind me on the bed. Pulling me closer his face buried in my hair, arms around my waist and chest just holding me. I must have fell asleep because the next thing I knew I was being moved I woke up. Jasper looked apologetic.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake ya."

Glancing at the time I realized it was five thirty in the morning.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"They're boarding the plane; they'll land at nine-forty-five." Alice informed.

I noticed Jasper was putting on his boots.

"Where are you going?" I asked now thoroughly awake.

"To check out,"

"Can I come with?" I asked.

Alice and Jasper shared a look, but Alice nodded. I pulled on some sweats from the duffel bag and some flip flops. Hand and hand Jasper led me to the elevator and to the front desk. I got some side long looks at my attire. Even in a fancy hotel like this my outfit was sure to draw attention. Unfortunately still being human - nature called, I asked the hotel concierges where the bathrooms were. Getting the side eye from them they pointed them out, a few feet away.

The bathroom was just as obnoxious as the rest of the hotel – expensively decorated and kind of tasteless with two entrances, one from the main lobby and the second from the elevator hall. I was busy washing my hands, the running water sort of disconcerting, especially since I was the only one in this obnoxiously large bathroom.

Tap.

The noise caused me to freeze, I could understand the tapping of heels from a women's high heel shoe but – but that wasn't it. Looking up, before I could yell – a sharp pain to my head rendered the world going dark. Red eyes gleamed gleefully in the mirror's reflection.
