The Adventures of Max and Leo: A reunion of best friends
Max came into the kitchen where Marv, Harry, Pete, the girl Max saved at the beach, and a couple of other people from the basketball team were making and serving breakfast to each other. Marv was the first to notice Max coming in the kitchen.
"Good morning, Max," Marv said. "Well, today's the day."
"Yeah, Leo's coming home from camp today," Max said.
"This is kind of exciting," Pete said. "It's a reunion of best friends."
"It sure is," Marv said. "I know Max is excited to see Leo again."
"I sure am, although it feels great that my other friends have been here to keep me company," Max said. "Thank you all so much."
"Of course," Pete said. "Are you looking forward to going to the beach with Leo?"
"I sure am," Max said. "We'll be there for a whole month. I can only imagine the things I will be doing while I am there."
"Are you going to patrol up and down the ocean like you did when I needed saving," the girl said.
"I just might do that," Max said. "That was kind of fun."
"I'm sure it was," the girl said. "It's almost been ten months since that happened."
"Yeah, time goes by fast," Max said. "So, what's for breakfast?"
"Pancakes, eggs, sausage and bacon," Marv said. "Ready for me to fix you a plate"
"I'd love a plate of that," Max said. "Thanks."
Marv fixed Max a plate of breakfast and handed the plate to Max. Marv also fixed Max a glass of orange juice. Max sat down at the dining table and began eating breakfast . . .
After breakfast and the group cleaned up the kitchen, they regrouped in the living room.
"So, what do we want to do while we wait for Leo to return home?" Max asked.
"Well, one of us is going to look and listen for him," Marv said. "So, when he does come home, that one is going to let you know so you can greet him."
"I love the plan," Max said. "So, I guess in the meantime, we can have some fun."
"We sure can," Pete said. "So, who's going to look out for Leo while we have some fun?"
"I'll do it," Harry said.
"Awesome," Marv said. "So, what do you want to do, Max?"
"Do we still have Road Rash set up in Leo's bedroom?" Max asked.
"We sure do," Marv said. "Let's go play."
"Sounds great," Max said.
Harry stood in the living room and waited for Leo to get back while the rest of the group went in Leo's bedroom to have fun . . .
While Max and Marv were playing Road Rash, Leo's landline phone rang and Marv went to the phone to answer it.
"Hello?" Marv asked.
"Hey, Marv, it's Leo," Leo said. "I just wanted to let you know that I am getting ready to start the journey home."
"That is great," Marv said. "I'm having someone wait for you to get here so he can let Max know so you two can greet each other."
"Awesome," Leo said. "I am really looking forward to seeing Max again. I know he misses me and wants to see me again."
"He was just talking about it earlier," Marv said. "He's really excited that you're coming home."
"I'm sure he would be," Leo said. "Well, I'll see you all here."
"Alright, see you here, Leo," Marv said and then the two hung up.
"How's Leo doing?" Max asked.
"He's on his way home," Marv said.
"Awesome, I hope he has a safe trip here," Max said.
"I hope so, too," Marv said. "Let's get back to our game."
Marv sat next to Max and the two resumed their game . . .
An hour or so later, while Max and Marv were playing Bulls VS Blazers and the NBA Playoffs, Harry came to the bedroom and said, "Leo and his dad is coming to the front door."
"Well, are you ready to see your best friend again?" Marv asked.
"I sure am," Max said. "I've missed him while he was gone."
"I know you did," Marv said. "Run to him, Max. Embrace him."
"Alright," Max said.
The group stopped what they were doing and followed Max out of the bedroom and into the living room. Leo and his dad came in through the front door.
"Hey, Max," Leo said.
"Welcome home, Leo," Max said. "I really missed you."
"I know you did," Leo said.
Max burst into tears as he and Leo hugged for several minutes. Once they finished hugging, Max wiped his eyes and face.
"So, now that you're here, what do you want to do?" Max asked. "I'm sure you miss some of the activities you do in here."
"I do, but right now, I'm tired," Leo said. "I think I need to take a nap."
"Well, get you a nap," Max said.
"Well, the couch is still pulled out from where Max and his adorable little friend slept at last night," Marv said. "Maybe you and Max can rest together for a little bit now that you two are reunited."
"Oh, she's still here?" Leo asked.
"I sure am," the girl said. "How are you doing, Leo?"
"I'm doing great," Leo said. "Are you looking forward to being at the beach?"
"I sure am," the girl said. "I really look forward to seeing the Super Swimmer patrol in the ocean."
"I'll see to it that he does that," Leo said.
"So, did you have fun at camp?" Max asked.
"I did," Leo said. "I was able to learn some new things that might benefit me when it comes to making our game."
"That's awesome," Max said.
"So, what did you all do while I was gone?" Leo asked.
"Well, once we got Max's good spirits restored, we had a lot of fun both indoors and out," Marv said. "We played board games, video games, swam in the pool, watched movies and went outside to the park for a little bit and even watched Max perform some moves in the skate park with his skateboard."
"I'm glad you all kept Max busy," Leo said. "Thanks to everybody that helped keep Max company while I was gone."
"And thanks for arranging for company for me," Max said. "This means a whole lot to me, Leo."
"Sure thing, Max," Leo said.
Leo and Max shared another hug.
"So, you ready to take a nap?" Max asked.
"Yeah, I am," Leo said.
"And I think since your best friend is back, maybe you two can rest together," Marv said. "We'll still be here if you two need us."
"Would you be okay with that?" Max asked.
"I would," Leo said. "Maybe after I get rested, I can make us all some lunch."
"I'd love that," Max said. "Would you like for someone to take your shoes off?"
"I'd love that," Leo said. "Go ahead and lay on the couch and I'll follow suit when my shoes are off."
Max went to the couch bed and lied down on one side. Leo sat down on the other side and Marv knelt down at Leo's feet, untied Leo's shoes, took Leo's shoes and socks off and laid them aside. Leo lied down next to Max and Marv placed the blankets over the both of them.
"Rest well, you both," Marv said. "We'll be in your room if you need us."
"Alright, well, you all have fun while we rest," Leo said.
The group left Leo and Max alone in the living room.
"It's great to have you back, Leo," Max said.
"It's great to be back, Max," Leo said. "I look forward to us going to the beach and getting some down time for a whole month."
"Me, too," Max said. "Rest well, Leo."
"You, too, Max," Leo said.
Max and Leo closed their eyes and fell asleep on the couch.
