Marinette woke up late and had to run to get to school on time. Downstairs, she saw that her parents and Saber were talking about his outfit. His armor was on and there was a blue cloak with golden lining that replaced his hood. Marinette leaving for school gave him the opportunity to run away from the conversation. He told her that he woke up looking like that and couldn't change back into his causal wear, he also suggested that they needed to talk to Shirou about it.
Marinette wasn't having any of it, she was running late for school and didn't have time to think about the war or what Saber looked like. She told him to wait until after class and they would deal with it then.
In class, Marinette had a hard time holding her tablet, her purse, and her bag. She even tripped over herself more than usual. There was clearly something wrong and Saber continued to pester her about seeing Shirou. For both of their sakes. He was stuck in the boy's bathroom most of the time trying to get out of his armor, but it changed back no matter how hard he tried.
"Everyone, grab your tablet," Miss Bustier told the class.
"Master, this is serious," Saber told her again in a whisper.
"After school," Marinette grabbed onto her tablet only for it to slip and for Saber to catch it. She slammed her head on the table in frustration and Saber sighed.
"This is getting ridiculous we should-" Saber's outfit changed to his armor and he slammed his head on the desk as well.
"Are you two alright?" Miss Bustier asked.
"I'm just going to lay here."
Saber finally dragged Marinette to the church where Shirou was and explained their troubles. He couldn't get out of his armor and Marinette was out of balance. Shirou told Marinette to sit down and put his hand on her back. He told her that after she boosted Saber's power, she opened the mana circuits in her that were previously dormant. It caused a strain on her body and needed to be fixed quickly.
He told her to stay still as he pushed on her back and calmed down her mana circuits with a pulse. With that, the problem was solved. Saber would also be fine after a little while. Shirou instructed Marinette to not do anything to cause such a strain again, meaning not to boost Saber's power again. She wasn't a good mage and one more time could kill her. She thanked him and left the church while Saber stayed inside, he wanted to wait until he could get out of his amor like normal before he went outside so people didn't look at him weird.
"Hey Karna," Leticia said as she entered her apartment with Karna behind her.
"What is it master?"
"Do you think I'm worthy of being your master?"
"What are you saying?"
"Well, Jeanne is so competent and powerful and I'm just...I'm just your regular everyday girl."
"There's nothing wrong with that."
"Huh?"
"Let me tell you master," Karna kneeled before her. "Any master I have is precious to me, both you and Jeanne I have sworn to protect, neither is better than the other."
"Karna..." Leticia started crying. "You're the best!"
She hugged Karna who patted her head. She had only known him for a short time since Ruler was in control most of the war, so didn't know what to do with him. She didn't even know what to do about the war. She was so focused on giving Karna a better master, she didn't think what would happen if Jeanne was out and she needed to take the reins. She didn't even know if Karna was okay with any of it, she could see everything Ruler saw, but didn't know how to interpret it.
She looked down at the ring in her hand and told Karna to close his eyes. When he did, she put the ring in his hand, it was gift she bought him to commemorate their friendship. He told her it was a precious gift and he would always keep it with him. Even if he thought as their relationship as master and servant, she thought of them as friends.
Karna wore the ring on his left hand while in casual clothing. He followed Leticia to the museum the next day where there was a new exhibit, she was curious about Paris and wanted to experience through her own eyes instead of Ruler's. She took pictures of the outside of the museum then gazed at the wonders of each exhibit. But there was someone who caught Karna's eye, Archer and his Master were present.
Karna wandered over to Archer to talk as Leticia watched them from afar. Archer had a dark blue long-sleeved shirt under a white vest, a light blue tie, white pants, and white boots. Archer was both pleased and annoyed to his older brother at the event. Since he wasn't supposed to start trouble, he just let Karna walk up to him.
"What do you want Karna?" Archer asked.
"I want to ask how you're doing," Karna replied.
"I'm doing fine, Minami has been less demanding due to Caster being dead. Speaking of that. Thank you for your help, I don't think we would have solved that problem without you. However, you did lose your armor due to using your Noble Phantasm, what are you going to do now?"
"I'll fight just like everyone else should. This is a war."
"I look forward to seeing you in the battlefield, and know this Karna, I will show no mercy in coming battles."
"So, you were merciful in our last? I must thank you for your consideration."
"That's not...how do I say this? Sometimes you miss the point Karna."
"Oh sorry!" A woman bumped into Karna and disoriented his scarf.
"It's okay, I was standing in the wrong place." Karna fixed his scarf which revealed the ring on his hand to Archer.
"Karna freeze!" Archer got Karna's attention then grabbed his hand to point out the ring specifically. "What is this?"
"A gift my master gave me as a show of our bond. Or that's how she put it."
"A gift?" Archer looked to Minami who was on her phone.
"Arjuna?"
"A gift from your master..."
"Are you okay?"
"I'll see you another time Karna!"
Archer quickly went out of the museum with Minami walking behind him. When she got home, she started to laugh, Archer was jealous Karna got a gift and he didn't. Typical sibling behavior. Minami told him to wait until she got done with her parents on the phone and she would take him out to buy a gift for him.
Her parents wanted to know how things were going in Paris, especially with the war. Her great grandfather was a participant in the last war, with an Archer to add on, and nearly won. Minami's mother was ecstatic to know that she was in good relationships with her Archer and that nothing bad happened to her. Her father wasn't happy about it all, he didn't want her to get into trouble.
Minami told him everything was fine; her Archer was from the age of gods and he would keep her safe. She then hung up before her father went on another tangent about her great grandfather's Archer servant. She put her phone on its charger and told Archer to get ready, they were going out. She wasn't in the mood to let him complain about Karna.
She let Archer pick out whatever he wanted while she looked at the typical jewelry Paris had in stock. The jewels were nothing compared to what the Tohsaka family had, then again, the Tohsaka family used their gems as weapons, not as fashionable items.
Archer was pleased with the necklace Minami bought him. It had a golden chain with a blue gemstone shaped like an arrow. Saber was the first to see the new addition to Archer's outfit and had a somewhat jealous look on his. Marinette offered to go to the store just as Minami did to buy him something. Saber rejected her offer, he had another plan in mind, he gave her a small box with the letter M engraved in the velvet. He saw that servants and masters were giving presents, so did he part in giving Marinette a present.
She opened the box to see a necklace with a white rose on the chain. But that wasn't it, he showed Tiki a small bracelet with colorful macaroons charms. They were like the ones Marinette gave her to power up. Saber was glad his master and her friend liked the presents he got them. He would have felt bad if he didn't give them anything and made Marinette feel pressured to get him something because Leticia and Minami did so with their servants.
"I got a message from Shirou earlier today," Saber mentioned.
"About what?" Marinette asked.
"Someone set up a summoning ritual in the middle of town. They might be trying to summon another Caster."
"Are you sure?"
"Positive."
"Why would someone do that?"
"Probably to gain an advantage. Shirou asked Rider to handle things and for me to act as back up in case he needed help. We have no idea who could be summoned at this time."
Adrien and his friend Nino walked down the street until something caught Adrien's eye. A marking on the ground that was much like the ones Caster spread inside an old garage. Nino pulled Adrien away, it had to be dangerous if it was Caster, but Adrien reassured his friend that is was fine. Caster was dead, and from what he knew, it was impossible to summon the same servant twice.
Adrien touched the sigil and picked up some red paint from it, it was new. Then, a shuffle was heard, Nino told Adrien that they had to get out of there, but something was thrown at Adrien, hard enough to make him fall into the middle of the sigil. The sigil glowed with a red hue and the attacker made themselves known. It was Rider. Rider went after Adrien, but before his sword touched the boy, someone got in the way. A girl with pink hair in twin tails, fox ears, a fox tail, and wore a blue dress akin to Japanese kimonos appeared before them. She hit Rider with a mirror and a blast that sent him flying back.
"Now that's just rude!" She said, "I get summoned and you immediately attack my master! Rude! Rude! Rude!"
"Who are you?!" Rider held his sword up.
"Who am I? I am the playful Caster, Tamamo no Mae!"
