Two chapters in a day? Yes, I really have that much free time. Enjoy.
Thursday Night
Garrett walked in the house on the phone.
"Yeah, that sounds good. Let me ask her real quick." Garrett said.
Garrett rounded the corner and saw Maggie fixing a snack.
"Hey baby." Garrett said.
"Hey, love. What's up?" Maggie asked.
"Do you want to go to Malibu tonight and stay for the weekend?"
"Yeah. With who?"
"Reagan and Hunter."
"Then double yes."
Garrett smiled and kissed Maggie.
"Hey dude, sorry about that. She said double yes." Garrett laughed.
Maggie left the kitchen and went outside where Shawn and Juliet were sitting.
Shawn heard the back door close and saw Maggie coming outside.
"Hey, Princess. What's up?" Shawn asked.
"Can you keep Morgan tonight and this weekend?" Maggie asked.
"I guess, why?"
"Hunter and Reagan invited us to Malibu this weekend."
"Are you leaving tonight?"
"Yeah. Garrett just got home and told me."
"Well ok then. Just before you leave, put her in our room."
"Thank you so much."
"Of course."
Maggie went back inside and went down to the basement to pack for the weekend. She shut the door and saw Garrett packing for her.
"What do you think you're doing?" Maggie asked.
"Packing for you. I know what you like." Garrett said.
"Do you know?"
"Yeah. See. I got you this little cute outfit and put you some sandals with it."
"Ok, that's actually pretty cute."
"Yeah. I'm already packed."
"I'm not surprised."
Garrett laughed.
"Hurry up! I'm bringing Morgan up to mom and dad's room." Maggie said.
"I'm right behind you." Garrett said.
Maggie went over to Morgan's crib and picked her up trying not to wake her up.
Morgan moved and stretched and opened one eye and smiled.
"Hey baby girl." Maggie whispered.
Maggie went up the stairs and brought Morgan to Shawn and Juliet.
Juliet saw Maggie come out with Morgan. She got up and went and grabbed Morgan from Maggie.
"You two behave ok?" Juliet said.
"Yes ma'am. Thank you so much." Maggie said.
"Of course. Have fun."
"Thank you."
Maggie bent down and kissed Morgan on her head, "Be a good girl, baby."
Maggie turned around and went and met Garrett in the car.
"Ready?" Garrett asked.
"Yep." Maggie said.
Garrett backed out of the driveway and started on the hour long drive to Malibu.
30 Minutes In
Maggie looked at Garrett, "What prompted this trip to Malibu?"
"I have no idea. But I'm not saying no to a free vacation." Garrett said.
"I don't blame you. We need it. Having a teething baby is no fun."
"She's not fussy."
"You're not with her most of the day."
"How bad is it?"
"Bad. Like I know she's hurting, but I can't do anything about it, but give her medicine. That medicine makes her sleepy."
"Is that why we give it to her at night?"
"Exactly."
Garrett nodded and continued the rest of the drive.
They got to Hunter's beach house and got out and went to the front door.
Maggie knocked and Hunter came to the door.
"Maggie!" Hunter exclaimed.
"Hunter! What's up?" Maggie asked.
"Nothing. Where is your husband?"
"Getting the stuff out of the car."
Hunter moved past Maggie and went to talk to Garrett.
"G-Man!" Hunter said.
"What's up dude?" Garrett asked.
"I'm doing it."
"Doing what?"
Hunter pulled the ring box out of his front pocket.
"Tonight?"
"Tomorrow night. It's kinda late right now."
"It is 9:45."
"But yeah, that's why I invited you guys down here."
"Did you get a photographer?"
"Yep. He is heading here tomorrow afternoon."
"Perfect. Let's go inside."
Garrett and Hunter made their way inside the beach house.
Garrett walked through the door and saw Maggie on the phone.
"Who is she on the phone with?" Garrett asked.
"Juliet." Reagan said.
"We just got here not even 5 minutes ago." Maggie said.
Maggie continued her conversation with Juliet.
Maggie got off the phone and went over to Garrett.
"What's wrong babe?" Garrett asked.
"Nothing. Just wanted a hug." Maggie said.
Garrett dropped the bags and hugged Maggie back and kissed her on the top of her hair.
"Are you sure?" Garrett whispered.
Maggie nodded.
Garrett picked the bags up and went and put them in the bedroom.
Maggie went and sat down next to Reagan.
"What was that about?" Reagan asked.
"She was just making sure we got here safe." Maggie said.
Hunter came over to the couch and squeezed himself between Maggie and Reagan.
"Uh excuse you." Reagan laughed.
"Oh, sorry Maggie, didn't see you." Hunter joked.
"Yeah, ok." Maggie said.
Maggie saw the box outline in Hunter's pocket.
"Can I talk to you for just a second?" Maggie asked Hunter.
Hunter nodded and got up and followed Maggie outside.
"What's up?" Hunter asked.
"You're really gonna do it?" Maggie asked.
Hunter thought about what Maggie was asking and caught on and smiled really big.
"Yeah, I am." Hunter said.
"Ahhh, so that's why we're here." Maggie said.
Hunter nodded, "How did you know?"
"I saw the ring box in your pocket. You're lucky I caught it before she saw it."
"Yeah thank you for that. Want to see the ring?"
"Nope! I'm waiting for when you're going to propose. Did Garrett see already?"
"Of course he did. Remember when we went out a few weeks ago? We went to the truck? Well I showed him the ring."
Maggie hit Hunter on the arm, "Hunter! You're really gonna make my best friend your wife."
"Yeah I am. I've been wanting to do it for a while, but the timing wasn't right."
Maggie gave Hunter a hug.
Garrett came out of the bedroom and saw Hunter and Maggie hugging.
"What are they hugging for?" Garrett asked.
"Your guess is as good as mine." Reagan said.
Garrett realized and went outside to get Maggie.
"Maggie. How'd you find out?" Garrett asked.
"I saw the box in his pocket." Maggie said.
"Plain as day?"
"Exactly. I told him that he's lucky I caught it before she saw it."
Garrett nodded.
Maggie left the boys and went back inside with Reagan.
"Is everything ok?" Reagan asked.
"Yeah. I just remembered to tell him something that my dad asked me to tell him." Maggie lied.
Reagan nodded and went back to the TV.
Hunter and Garrett came back inside and sat down next to their wives.
Garrett put his arm around Maggie and pulled her close.
"Hey you." Garrett said.
Maggie looked up at Garrett and smiled, "What are you thinking about?"
"What do you mean?"
"You have that look on your face."
"Nothing. Just thinking."
Maggie nodded and curled into Garrett and watched the movie.
12:30 A.M.
12:30 rolled around and Maggie woke up on the couch and saw everyone else on the couch.
Maggie pushed Garrett's knee, "Gare, get up."
Garrett opened his eyes and saw that he was in the living room.
"Did we all fall asleep in here?" Garrett asked.
"Yeah. Go get in the bed. I'll be there in a minute."
Garrett nodded and went to the bedroom.
Maggie gently shook Reagan out of her doze.
"What?" Reagan mumbled.
"Hey, we all fell asleep out here. Go to bed." Maggie said.
Reagan nodded. She grabbed Hunter's hand and woke him up and told him to follow her to the bedroom.
Everyone finally got in the bed at 12:45 that morning.
8:45 AM
Maggie woke up at 8:45, not having slept that late since Morgan was born. She rolled over and saw Garrett still sleeping. She curled up to him and went back to sleep for a few minutes.
10 minutes later, Maggie's phone rang.
"Who is it?" Garrett asked.
"I don't know. Let me check." Maggie said.
Maggie got out of bed and went to her phone and found Karen calling.
"Hello?" Maggie asked.
"Hey Maggie, are you ok?" Karen asked.
"Yeah. I just got up. We're in Malibu for the weekend. What's up?"
"I was calling to see if you've heard from your parents today."
"No, I haven't. It's still early. Why?"
"I called them last night to say we had a case, but they never came in."
"They are taking care of Morgan this weekend. I'm sure they didn't want to bring Morgan to the station or just leave her at the house."
"That makes sense. Thank you."
"Of course. Have a good weekend."
"You too, Maggie."
Maggie hung up the phone and not even 15 seconds later, Juliet called Maggie.
"Hello?" Maggie asked.
"Are you ok?" Juliet asked.
"Yeah. I just got up. Oh and Karen called me looking for you two."
"I thought I told her we couldn't come in, since we're watching the baby."
"I don't know. She said she called you guys in the middle of the night."
"I'll call her back later."
"How's Morgan?"
"Still sleeping."
"Really?"
"Well, she got up at 4:45 hungry, then went back to sleep with dad."
"He does like his sleep. Well, let me go. I'll call you later."
"Ok. Bye. Love you."
"Love you too."
Maggie hung her phone up and put it back on the dresser and went back in bed with Garrett.
3 hours later, Maggie and Garrett got out of bed and went to the beach with Hunter and Reagan.
Garrett walked over to Hunter, "When are you going to ask her?"
"Around 6:30. So in a few hours." Hunter said.
"That sounds good."
Maggie got out her camera and started taking pictures with Garrett.
"Can you get some of me and Reagan?" Hunter asked.
"Of course." Maggie said.
Maggie took several pictures of Reagan and Hunter. Then she had Hunter take pictures of her and Reagan.
They spent the next few hours at the beach and Hunter signaled to Garrett to get the girls ready.
Garrett walked up to Maggie, "Baby, you and Reagan are going to get your nails done. We have a few things to take care of."
Maggie caught on, "That sounds fun. I haven't gotten my nails done in a while."
Reagan walked up to Maggie, "What are we doing? The boys have something planned that doesn't involve us."
"We are going to get our nails done." Maggie said.
"Well let's go get dressed. Are we going to dinner or anything?"
"Yeah, a nice restaurant."
"Fancy."
Reagan and Maggie ran up the beach back to the house. They ran inside and both showered, got dressed, and put makeup on.
Maggie ran downstairs to get her purse and everything ready.
"Rea! Are you almost done?" Maggie asked.
Reagan came down the hall with her purse in her hands, "Yep. Let's go."
Maggie and Reagan got into Maggie's car and drove to the salon.
Hunter & Garrett
Hunter and Garrett walked up to the house and got everything ready for Hunter's proposal.
Garrett got the candles and began making a trail from the house to the beach. Once he got done setting the candles out, he grabbed a wood fence and began putting pictures from all stages of Hunter and Reagan's relationship. While Garrett was digging through the pictures, he found a picture of Hunter and Reagan holding Morgan when she was first born. He took out his phone and took a picture of the photo.
Hunter was inside getting the inside ready with candles.
After the candles, Hunter went upstairs to shower and put on the suit he had for tonight.
Maggie & Reagan
Maggie pulled into the nail salon's parking lot. The girls got out and walked into the salon.
"Welcome to Fancy Nails. How can we help you?" the nail tech asked.
"We are here to get mani-pedis." Maggie said.
"Alright, just follow me."
The nail tech guided Maggie and Reagan to the last two seats available.
"Thank you." Reagan said.
"Of course." the nail tech replied.
A few minutes passed and two nail techs started working on Maggie and Reagan.
5:45
5:45 came around quickly and Garrett starting lighting the candles.
Hunter came around the corner and bumped into Garrett.
"Sorry dude." Hunter said.
Garrett looked up at Hunter, "You ready?"
"Ready as I'll ever be."
Garrett put the lighter down for a second and hugged his lifelong best friend.
"Finish this up and then go get dressed." Hunter said.
Garrett nodded.
It took Garrett 20 minutes to finish lighting the candles. After he was done with the candles, he went upstairs to shower and get dressed.
Once Garrett got out of the shower Maggie called him.
Garrett walked over to phone and picked it up.
"Hello?" Garrett asked.
"Hey, you. Are you boys almost ready?" Maggie asked.
"We just need about 10 more minutes."
"Ok. I'll see you in a bit."
"Ok. Love you."
"Love you too."
Garrett hung up the phone and saw Hunter in his spot taking a few pictures before the girls got there. Garrett got the rose petals and started scattering them on the path on the way to Hunter.
Once Garrett got outside, the photographer wanted a few pictures of Hunter and Garrett.
6:15
At 6:15, Maggie pulled into the driveway.
Hunter heard a door open and got Garrett's attention.
"Garrett, they're here." Hunter said.
"Ok, got everything?" Garrett checked.
"Yes."
Garrett left Hunter and went and waited at the bottom of the stairs.
Reagan
Reagan walked in the house and saw the lights out. She rounded the corner and saw a trail of rose petals and candles. She looked at Maggie, "What did you do?"
"Nothing. We just went to go get our nails done." Maggie said.
Reagan continued down the path toward Hunter. She crossed outside and saw Hunter waiting for her at the end.
"You little liar." Reagan whispered.
"I have no idea what you're talking about." Maggie said.
"Shut up. Hold my stuff."
Reagan handed Maggie her stuff and started her way to Hunter.
Reagan reached Hunter and smiled.
"Hey, baby." Hunter said.
"Hey, baby. What is all of this?" Reagan asked.
"I've been doing a lot of thinking recently. I've been planning as Garrett would say it. I've planned out the rest of my life, and you're in every part of it. I know we only started dating a little over a year, but the first time we went out, I just knew you were going to be the woman I was going to spend the rest of my life with."
Reagan looked at Hunter with tears flowing down her face.
Hunter got the ring box out of his pocket and got down on one knee.
"Reagan Elizabeth Scott, will you marry me?" Hunter asked.
Reagan nodded, "Of course. Of course I will. I love you."
Hunter put the ring on Reagan's finger.
Reagan bent down and kissed Hunter.
Hunter got back up and grabbed Reagan's face and gave her a proper kiss.
Garrett and Maggie clapped.
Reagan pulled away and went and showed Maggie the ring.
"Oh my God! This is absolutely stunning!" Maggie gushed.
Reagan smiled, "He did good."
"He did really good."
Garrett went over to Hunter and gave him a hug.
"Congratulations, dude." Garrett said.
"Thanks, man. I couldn't do this without you." Hunter said.
"Yes you could've."
"No, I really couldn't. You and Maggie are the ones who set us up. I literally couldn't do it without you."
Garrett smiled.
Maggie saw Garrett and Hunter walking over.
Reagan went up to Hunter and grabbed his tie and kissed him.
"I love you." Hunter whispered.
"I love you, too. I'm ready to love you forever." Reagan said.
"Forever…I like that."
"More like love that."
Hunter walked over to Maggie.
"Hey Mags, thank you so much for your help today." Hunter said.
"Hunter, you are more than welcome. Just do me a favor." Maggie said.
"What's that?"
"Please don't hurt her."
"I could never hurt her. I wouldn't live with myself if I did."
"Good."
Maggie pulled Hunter into a hug.
Garrett went over to Maggie, "We have champagne in the house."
"Let's go." Maggie said.
Reagan and Hunter walked back inside and saw 4 glasses of champagne.
Garrett grabbed his and handed Maggie hers.
"Thank you, both for doing this." Reagan said.
"Of course. Hunter planned it, we just put it in motion." Maggie said.
"Oh, by the way, when we get home on Sunday afternoon, you and Reagan are coming over. Just a little thing for you two. It's just going to be Shawn and Juliet at the house." Garrett said.
"Thank you." Hunter said.
They sipped on their champagne and reminisced about all of the fun they've had together though the years.
