Tuesday June 28th 2022

1 month later.

5pm

Jamie and the girls were in the middle of eating dinner when the power went out. The apartment turning silent.

"Huh!" Emmalyn exclaimed confused, Jamie sat their for a second looking around. It wasn't raining or windy out.

"Bababa" Scarlett randomly babbled to herself but kept eating.

"What happened?" Emmalyn asked when Jamie got up to look out in the hall.

"The powers just out." Jamie told her and checked to see if their was light coming out from under any other apartment doors. There wasn't, he went to the window and saw the whole city, as far as he could see was dark.

"Hm." He thought, this wasn't just a transformer box that blew up, something was going on. He got his phone out to call Eddie, she was at work and maybe knew what was going on but she didn't answer.

"Daddy I'm scared." Emmalyn said.

"It's okay Em, it's just a power outage. It'll be back on soon." He said, hoping he was right. Scarlett was unphased by the whole thing and kept chowing down on dinner. Jamie was a little worried and tried to call Danny. No answer.

It was 45 minutes later, Eddie should've been home by now but wasn't. He had the girls coloring at the table with a lantern. While he was still trying to find out what was going on, but was hard to do with some cell towers down.

"When will mommy be home?" Emmalyn asked again for the 3rd time.

"Em I don't know, just color your picture." Jamie said.

"Scarlett has the color I need." She said, Jamie looked at Scarlett she wasn't using the crayon she was eating it.

"Scarlett! No! Em you can't let her eat them c'mon now..!" He said and dug out as much purple crayon chunks as he could. She started crying as he was practically gagging her.

"Yucky!" He said when he got most of it, her lips stayed purple and she kept crying. Jamie got her out of her seat and put her down on the floor to go play with something else, she lost her privilege. She sat on the floor and cried at Jamie not happy. He ignored her and decided to try and call Eddie again.

"See Scarlett that's why you don't eat things you're not supposed to." Emmalyn said shaking her head and coloring her picture. Eddie answered Jamie's call, finally.

"Hey what's going on?" He asked and walked further away from the girls so he could hear.

"We don't know but we got people walking in here left and right for the past hour who want to report suspicious activity and burglaries. It sounds like it's some kind of planned attack, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens are all black." Eddie said.

"What...!? That's insane! Do they need me down there?!" Jamie said, just thinking about how crazy it probably was.

"If someone can get take the girl's for the night..? It's an absolute zoo here, Espinoza said he was trying to call you in but couldn't get through with cell towers in and out so I figured I'd just try." Eddie said, There was a knock at the door. It was pop and one of the commissioners body guards.

"Hey, you gotta go." He came in and said.

"Eddie I'll be there in 20 minutes." He hung up.

"Do you know what's going on?" Jamie asked him. He talked quietly seeing Emmalyn was nearby.

"It's not terrorists, I don't know what kind of gang it is, I can't get a hold of Francis. They sent this guy to the house and told me I was coming here so you could go." Pop said, Jamie was a little worried but knew he had to go.

"Okay um. Okay, they ate dinner, Scarlett ate a crayon so she's pissed at me, she gets a full bottle before bed. I think that's it. Oh make sure Emmalyn goes potty before bed." Jamie said and then opened a drawer in the kitchen, he set out a couple more flashlights.

"Don't worry, just go catch these guys." Pop said. Jamie kissed the girls and said goodbye, put on his gun and left.

Jamie got to work and saw Eddie sitting down at a desk in the complaints office taking a witness statement from these two big guys. He went in to Espinoza's office but he was busy on the phone so he went out and talked to the other sergeant who was here all day.

He basically just said the same thing Eddie said, they were just sending officers out to bring in whoever fits any descriptions that were given. The holding cells were filling up quick it was a madhouse. He started to make his way to the locker room to get dressed, but got distracted when he heard commotion behind him coming from an office. Two big guys were bantering, getting handsy with each other and an officer was getting mixed up in it. He approached quickly to help when he realized it was the two guys Eddie was dealing with.

"Hey! What the hells going on!? Enough! Back up!" He yelled and pulled them apart he threw the one on the ground.

"Get your hands off me!" Eddie yelled at the guy still attacking her, he was a lot bigger and stronger then her.

"Hands behind your back!" He commanded.

"Janko give me your cuffs!" He shouted. (Jamie didn't have his uniform on so he didn't have any cuffs) As he was holding the one on the ground fighting to keep his hands behind his back, he saw Eddie was struggling but he couldn't help her.

"Don't fight it!" Jamie yelled as he was starting to struggle to keep his guy on the ground.

"YOU'RE GONNA GET TAZED!" Eddie threatened her guy as she managed to get it from her belt, the guy wasn't letting up and started choking her with his huge hands.

"Dammit!" Jamie saw what was happening and panicked, he got the tazer from her and did it himself just to get him off her. Her guy fell to the ground and Eddie was gasping for air.

"Hey we need help in here!" Jamie yelled out to the hall after he realized Eddie was incapable.

"CUFFS EDDIE!" He yelled losing his strength with his guy, she was coughing and still trying to catch her breath, but she got her cuffs off her belt and handed them to Jamie.

He slapped them on the guy and Eddie plopped down in the chair out of breath trying to regain life. 2 officers came in to cuff the tazed guy and then took both of them out of the room to central booking.

"Janko you good!?" He asked concerned after he just witnessed her getting briefly choked forcing her to give up on apprehending him.

Eddie looked scared and didn't know if she was or not it was scary, one second these guys were cooperating giving statements and the next they were attacking her for no reason. Jamie knelt down infront if her, wanting to see her face, he grabbed her hand.

"Eddie? Are you okay? Talk to me, can you hear me?...hey...!?" He said worried. She slowly looked at him, her face turned white, her eyes rolled back into her head and shut, her whole body went limp. Jamie caught her before she hit the floor.

"Woah! Hey! CALL A BUS, 10-13! Officer needs medical assistance! PUT A RUSH ON IT!" He panicked and the other officer in the room immediately called it over the radio. Jamie slowly laid Eddie flat on the ground and listened to see if she was breathing, she was.

"Eddie!? Wake up!" He said patted her face but she was just out.

"Janko!" He was getting more scared and kept listening to see if she was breathing. The other officer stayed with them trying also concerned and trying to help. Jamie ordered him to go wait for the ambulance so they knew where she was and could get to her ASAP.

3 minutes later..

The paramedics got there and got her on the gurney and out into the ambulance, Espinoza was talking to him about what happened while they got her situated and then Jamie of course rode along with her. He had to walk the emts through what happened too, and then she woke up.

"Jamie..?" She mumbled after hearing his voice for the last 5 minutes. She was confused at what was going on. He was right by her side holding her hand while the EMTs took her vitals and were checking her over.

"Hey! you're okay, you passed out, do you remember what happened?" He asked her just happy she was awake and alert, she tried to think back.

"Yeah that son of a bitch choked me." She said.

"Do you remember how long?" The EMT asked her stepping in.

"Uh no I don't know, not long just a few seconds." She said.

"Any idea why she blacked out after the fact and not during? Cause she was hearing me, I mean she handed me a set of cuffs and everything when I asked." Jamie said.

"Well your blood pressure is a little on the lower side." He told them.

"Don't worry they'll check you out and let you know for sure but that's my guess." He added.

They got to the hospital and in a room to do a more invasive check up, they took her blood to get tested. In the room the women looked over her for any signs of brain damage or signs of anything more severe, broken bones, bleeding, etc.

"Alright everything looks good here officer, baby is perfectly fine, fainting this early is not uncommon." The doctor said as she finished the ultrasound.

"...Baby!?" Eddie said looking at the doctor in utter shock.

"Wait what..!?" Jamie has the same expression looking at her. The doctor looked at them both confused.

"Oh, you weren't aware?...!" She asked. Neither one of them could speak Eddie just shook her head no with her eyes bugging out at the doctor.

"Oh! well yes, you are about 6 weeks along from what I can see, congratulations." She said and pointed at the screen to show them the baby. Jamie looked at Eddie and she looked at him.

"How..." Jamie said staring at the monitor.

"I took a test a few weeks ago and it was negative..!?" Eddie said.

"Unfortunately those are not always 100% accurate." She said.

"Oh my god." Eddie started to laugh not believing this. Jamie joined in smiling with raised eyebrows at her in shock as the doctor was done and wiped the jelly off her stomach.

"Holy sh..." Jamie was still shocked. Eddie covered her mouth and started to tear up thinking about how big this was. She was so happy, Jamie kissed her forehead after he saw the emotion filling her eyes.

"Okay well I am all done here so you two are free to go whenever you're ready, just take it easy from now on and congratulations again!" She said and left the room after they said thank you.

"Guess we are having another baby" Jamie said and laughed, Eddie was just crying tears of happiness. Jamie gave her a hug and kissed her in the lips, catching her tears on his cheeks.

"I am just. Ugh. I can't believe this." She said through her smile and tears.

"Yeah, I can't believe the test was wrong... see I knew you were pregnant Janko!" He said and got up wanting to leave. Eddie sat up and got dressed, she couldn't stop smiling.

"I want to know when I'm due." She said.

"Well let's do the math here...6 weeks..." Jamie said and started thinking and counting in his head

"...end of February." Jamie said, Eddie nodded liking that. They left and got a taxi. The power in the entire city turned back on when they pulled up to the precinct. They got out and the chaos had died down.

"What are you doing back?" Espinoza asked.

"Oh they said I just had to take it easy, I can sit and-" Eddie said.

"No absolutely not, your tour was over hours ago, go home." He told her.

"Do you still need me sir?" Jamie asked him.

"No Mcnichols just got in. We should be okay. Both of you go home get some rest, that was one hell of a fight Janko. Reagan, you take good care of her" He said and hit him in the back.

"Yes sir." Jamie said and Espinoza walked away. He put his arm around Eddie, they turned around and left.

"We'll get your car tomorrow." Jamie said when they got into his car.

"I can't believe I'm pregnant." Eddie said as they drove home.

"Yeah it's a little crazy huh?" Jamie said.

"I just don't know how I didn't know for 6 weeks! I never got sick or showed any side effects." She said.

"Eddie you've been a bit of an emotional mess..." Jamie said.

"But with good reason.." she defended.

"Well yeah, now." He laughed.

It was almost 9pm when they got home. Pop was asleep on the couch catching flies with Emmalyn cuddled next to him also asleep.

"Pop." Jamie said quietly, he woke right up.

"Home already? When did they power come back on?" He was all kinds of confused.

"Bout half hour ago." He said and attempted to carry Emmalyn to her bed.

"So what happened?" He asked Eddie, she sat on the couch.

"Well we aren't sure what gang or gangs are involved but it was definitely something planned because people were coming in reporting burglaries left and right, and so of course their going to be hard to catch with no video surveillance for close to 2 hours straight across 3 huge cites." Eddie said.

"Whoever's behind it knows what their doing then...So why are you home?" He asked confused beings in sounded like these investigations were far from over.

"Oh well I was taking a statement and the guys turned on me and choked me so I ended up passing out and had to go to the hospital but I'm fine I was only out for a few minutes." Eddie said like it was no big deal. Jamie came back from putting Emmalyn down.

"What!? Where was everyone else?!" Pop got concerned and said to Jamie.

"I was with her actually when it happened, they were big guys, they got locked up don't worry." He said.

"They didn't want you to stay overnight?" He questioned. They said no and tried to ease his thoughts without having to tell them she was pregnant and that's why it wasn't a huge deal.

Eventually he had enough answers and left.

They headed straight to bed, Jamie put his hand on her belly when they laid down.

"3 kids Janko." He said smiling.

"Ha...that's insane." She said shaking her head.

"Maybe it'll be a boy." Jamie told her.

"Or maybe you'll just have to live with all girls for the rest of your life." Eddie laughed.

"Uh, kinda hoping for a boy." He said laughing obviously not caring what it was but he can dream can't he? They both went to bed smiling, thinking about how busy life was gonna be getting in the next couple months.
