A/N: Did someone say "upload schedule"? Who needs that?! No, but for real, school is a piece of shit. I do what I can.

Chapter 18: Future ahead!

Even without bringing the flag, we really passed. It seems like we all underestimated our teachers. They REALLY saw everything that had happened. But I was also worried. Did we talk about Eevee's past as well? Did they hear that too? If they did, they didn't show it.

Meanwhile our enemy seemed frustrated and desperate. She had everything planned out perfectly. But she did not think of our teachers. Chaos started to burst. Nobody seemed to really get what was going on and Officer Günter appeared. But I didn't really keep attention. Neither did Eevee. We looked each other in the eyes. We did it. We won this little war. We passed the final exam. School was over for us. And Darky would get what she deserved.

Sometime later, after Günter was gone, taking Darky with him, things went back to normal. Raichu continued his little speech. "I'm sorry for all the inconveniences now. Most of you probably don't really understand. To make it short, while traveling with her group, we could hear Darky telling that she was the one behind the attack on Eevee near the beginning of the year. That's all you need to know. I once again want to congratulate all of you. Everyone did well and I'm proud that I can say that all of you are officially done with school. You can now go into the world and fulfil your dreams. Show them the same talent you showed us. I wish all of you good luck for the future."

The event was now officially over. Still, most students stayed on the campus for a little longer. Me and Eevee were the only ones who didn't. Everyone else wanted to talk to their friends that they may never see again. And as you should know… there were none of these for me or Eevee.

But there was actually someone waiting for us. Both my parents were waiting at the entrance to our school. They obviously waited for the two of us. "There you are! We already heard everything that had happened. I'm glad you're fine." "Me too. I heard you met your aunt, didn't you Flame?" Before my talk with my parents could continue, Eevee interrupted us. "I… should probably be on my way. Tyrunt will be waiting. See you soon, Flame…" Before she could leave, mom stopped her. "Wait. We already talked to him." Answering Eevee's questioning look, mom continued. "We wanted to visit a new restaurant to celebrate your success. And you're invited of course. Tyrunt knows, so don't worry about being late." As always Eevee seemed hesitant, because of her shy nature. But she still happily agreed.

Throughout the whole evening it showed, that Eevee still wasn't that confident around my parents. I was a little worried, that she may think that her past was their fault by bringing her egg to the orphanage. And maybe it was in a way. But they didn't mean to do anything bad! I just hoped that this was not the reason. It's not like Eevee was that talkative otherwise.

During the evening my parents started talking about my former dream. "So now that you are done with school Flame, you can now join Wigglytuffs Guild. Do you already know, when you'll go there?" Eevee seemed surprised. "You want to join the guild? You never told me!" "Well, it was actually the only reason I even went to school. Because my parents told me that I won't be allowed to join them, before I passed school." "Since he's able to speak he always told us about becoming an explorer. He never wanted to do anything else.", my dad continued. Suddenly, Eevee seemed to become sad. I knew what she was thinking. Being part of the Warriors, we would've been able to stay in contact in Metro City. But the organisation has nothing to do with Treasure Town. With me living in the guild, we would probably not see each other again for a very long time. But well…

"I… I don't want to go there anymore." My parents were startled. It had been my dream all my life. And suddenly, as I finally had the chance, I didn't want to take it? I explained myself. "It's just… before visiting school, I wanted to experience adventure. And I still want to. But I've learned a lot of new stuff. And I felt what the guild would truly be. It would be running through the world, exploring places and sometimes a little fighting. But… I want to have a greater focus on battles. During the exam I learned how weak I really am. I want to get stronger. I want to go on TRUE adventures. And I want to stick with my only friend. I want to become part of the Warriors of Light!"

I can't really describe the look in Eevee's eyes. It was like a mixture of disbelief, happiness and worries. "Are… are you for real? You don't just do this for my sake, do you? I don't want you to give up on your dreams because of me!" "I know that you wouldn't accept that. But I explained it already. I just didn't know what I truly wanted before." Mom and Dad both seemed unsurprised. "I never thought you'd really want to be part of the guild for a long time. You probably would've realised that it's not as amazing as you thought after some time. If your wish to become one of the Warriors instead, I'll definitely not be stopping you." "Neither will I. And I don't think Tyrunt will either. But of course, you'll still need to ask him." "I will! Thank you!" While we were talking, Eevee just stared at me in awe. And as we are done, she started smiling.

This was the day me and Eevee graduated from school. And it was the day I became a warrior. Just before midnight arrived, I officially became one of them. But as a beginner, I was not allowed to work alone. I would have to work with someone more experienced… and Tyrunt paired me up with Eevee.
