Chapter 18- Megatron

(Note: This chapter takes place during season 1 ep 14 "Out Of His Head" of TFP.)
"Let me guess Breakdown's busy and you need my help with Megatron." I said keeping my optics focused on my computer's screen, once again I was busy doing the job "Lord" Starscream had assigned hacking into the human's weak and very very simple defence systems to get more junk Screams needed for his "secret" project. Whatever that was, Knockout stood behind me. I'd heard him approaching so I already knew he was coming and he only ever came to come see me when he needed help.
"Well you could put it that way. But yes I do need your help, those Autobots when they were here the other solar-cycle (Day) seemed to have tampered with one of his monitors and his frame." Knockout said, I sighed and turned around. I was busy, as usual, and Screams was going to be blissfully mad if I didn't get this stupid work done for him. "Knockout, you do realize that I have other things to do other than help you and Breakdown or get you out of trouble. You know that right?" I asked, because really at this point they'd understand i had a lot of things to do and very little time to get everything done.
"Yes yes, I know. But come on, you don't look like you're having any fun with that so why don't you come help me with this?" he asked, still overly hopeful. "If I help he'll be out of my helm and I could actually get some work done around here for once." I reminded myself, I sighed "Fine, but I'm not getting blamed for anything at the end of this, this was your idea." I got up from my workstation and turned my computer off.
I glanced over at Soundwave's station, I hadn't been seeing much of him of late because he was always busy with something for Starscream. Either that or he was watching the camera's around the ship.
"You coming or..?" Knockout asked motioning for us to leave, "Yeah yeah, I'm coming." I said walking over to join him. "So, what's breakdown busy with today?" I asked. There had to be a reason why Breakdown was unable to help Knockout today. "I sent him to go scouting for dark energon, because of its ability to bring back the dead and is possibly the reason Megatron stayed alive this long. I think if i could get a big enough piece of it, it might be able to help bring him back though I don't think it will do much for his mind." Knockout finished.
We were about to enter the lab and Starscrem was inside it dancing around Megatron's body holding a purple glow stick. "You mean like a piece of dark energon that big?" I whispered , pointing to the piece of dark energon that Starscream was waving around like a glow stick. "Yes exactly like that one." knockout whispered back entering quietly into the lab.
I followed in after him staying quiet and observing Starscream's long winded rant about, well I'm assuming his great plan. "And I will convince them that I am the true heir to your thone, with a plan so epic-." Starscream said until Knockout interrupted, "Not even the mighty Megatron could have conceived it?" Knockout finished asking. He was leaning against a wall and I was standing next to him, my optics tracking Stacreams movements.
"You know Screams, I've already tried dancing around him with a light show but I don't think that's the best way to wake him up." I sneered, Starscream realized he'd been caught and slipped the dark energon shard behind his back and started to laugh nervously now. "That was the idea of Knockout. And Rainjet, I don't see how dancing around someone would get them to wake up. How long have you both been there anyways?" I rolled my optics, Starscream had clearly missed the point I was trying to make.
"Long enough." Knockout replied for the both of us getting up and walking towards him, "And it's 'Commander Knockout' to you, once and future Lord Starscream." Knockout finished bowing. Starscram and I both had an optic ridge (Eyebrow) raised. This was a very new thing, Knockout rarely respected Starscream or at all for that matter. "Well this has been lovely femmes, but I believe you have some things to do Starscream, oh and before you go. Soundwave probably saw that whole rant you just did there with one of his camera's so I'd be more careful next time." I said shooing Starscream out of the lab.
I watched Starscream leave, making sure he was gone before I went over and joined Knockout. "So, when'd you two start being in cahoots?" I asked sarcastically though something was clear up between the two and I was pretty sure the only thing standing between their plan and it becoming a reality was Soundwave.
"Well, I figured I'd play nice until we get Meatron here on his pedes again. Speaking of that, would you come help already? You know instead of standing on a wall." Knockout said as I came over to join him, "So what did they break?" I asked, nothing seemed to be wrong with the monitors but Knockout was right about Megatron's brain activity being through the roof.
"They didn't break anything in here, but they did break something in there, I just don't know what yet." he said pointing to Megatron's helm I nodded. I walked to the back of the analyzing table and knelt down, a power cord that had most likely been used to create the cortical psychic patch between Meagtron and Bumblebee was still attached to the input at the back of the table.
"Well then Knockout I can't help you but- Knockout?"I asked if the room had gone oddly silent and I was suspicious that I'd been left again.I poked my helm around the back of the table to get a better look at the room in front of me. Knockouts usual red paint job didn't give his position away, so I guess I'd been right. "Great, alone with myself and one dying Megatron. And I can't even fix the bloody thing." I muttered moving out from behind the examination table.
"Knockout is probably doing something off with Starscream and decided to leave me to fox something by myself. Ugh this whole place is just one big mech club." I muttered, I didn't hate the Nemesis and the bots on it but sometimes it felt like I was the only person on there that was taking trying to win a war seriously.
"I mean the least I can do is try to unhook that power cord and put it back to where it came from." I thought, I sighed, I really wished I'd just told Knockout no and stayed in my computer room hacking for Starscream. Maybe then I wouldn't be stuck doing Knockouts clean up.
I was about to follow the corad when I heard fighting outside the lab's door, "Did Autobots make it onto the ship?" I thought. I mean i knew Starscream, Knockout and probably Breakdown were fighting them outside but I didn't actually think they'd bring it inside the ship. I transformed and readied myself for a fight, the sound of blaster shots and all out fighting drew closer and closer to the lab's door.
I got an idea and quickly ran over to one of the shadowed corners near the doorway, "Surprise is your greatest advantage when fighting an unknown foe." I quoted my sire in my helm. I remembered him telling me that when i told him I'd started training with Twinwave after she went missing for some three days and almost got her memories whipped.
I pressed my back against the wall and waited for the door to open, I stayed silent lying in wait to see who was coming through the door. Because it clearly wasn't Knockout or breakdown there ahd wayyy too much crashing and banging against the walls leading towards the lab for it to have been them.
If I had to breathe I would've held it as I heard the door open, pad steps I didn't recognize very well come in. "Bumblebee?" I thought watching the mech walk in. He walked towards Megatron's body, I saw a glow of purple in one of his servos and when he turned in the direction of the door to I'm assuming making sure he wasn't followed. I saw him holding a shard or dark energon, "What is he doing?" I wondered but I knew whatever it was it probably wasn't good.
"Bumblebee, I'm going to have to ask you to step away from Megatron." I said emerging from the shadows, I pointed my blaster at him and he still wasn't moving. "I'm going to ask you again or I will shoot. Step away from Megatron." I reported stepping closer towards the scout. He still didn't move, and he looked like he was going to start getting aggressive soon.
"I warned you." I muttered taking aim and firing a shot at bumblebee, He jumped out of the way last second and just barely missed Megatron's body. He in turn drew his own blaster and fired back slowly advancing towards me with every shot he took, I was firing back but trying to hit Bumblebee and avoid hitting Megatron if he dodged so I wasn't getting as many shots in as him.
We were engaged in the firing fight until Bumblebee finally managed to get close enough for me to switch from blaster to blade, I took swing after swing at him trying to get him to leave or at the least knock him out. I didn't usually try to do this but I actually didn't mind Bumblebee so I was trying not to hurt him too badly.
Which in turn wasn't working out in my favour, Bumblebee was advancing on me and was getting a little too close for comfort. I also noticed while we were fighting that he wasn't acting like himself, usually Bumblebee preferred to fist fight instead of starting out with his blaster. Especially if he was in close quarters with his enemy.
I took another slash at him and just barely missed his torso, in response Bumblebee curled one of his servos into a tight fist and threw a right hook. Knocking me out.

"You coming Wave?" I asked Twinwave, the two of us stood in front of some sort of make shift colosseum and I immediately recognized where we were, Slaughter City. She shook her helm shaking off her thoughts, "Yeah I'm coming." she smiled something I hadn't seen her do in forever and I smiled back. I grabbed her servo in him and engagled our digits as we took our first steps into the coliseum.
It was how I remembered Megatron's fights being when he was a gladiator , the coliseum was packed full of bots of every size and age. Each one of them workers from this district or another. "See it's not so bad." I said to Twinwave as I guided her up to the seating area, "Yeah I guess you're right." she said quietly. I guess I'd gotten so used to her attitude now that I'd forgotten how shy she used to be.
"Hey, it's going to be fine and if you want to leave at any point during the match just ask me and we can. Okay?" I said, all she did was nod her helm as we sat down to wait for the match to begin.
I barely remembered when we'd done this before the war on Cybertron but I remembered taking her here. I could tell this was one of my memories, "Damn my subconscious must be working over time so that I can relive this." I thought as both gladiators came out. They weren't announced assuming to not draw attention from the authorities to this area, it was illegal to have a gladiator battle outside the organised ones in Kaon.
When I looked back towards the fight it was already clear which bot was winning, one of them had already landed a few major hits on his opponent and the other bot was clearly in pain but wasn't yielding. I moved my helm to get a looked at Twinwave, she just had a blank look on her face, even when the crowd erupted in cheers as the winning gladiator made another major hit on his opponent she just stared there blankly. "Are you alright Wave?" I asked, she turned around to look at me.
"Can we leave? I know you wanted to come see this but can we go explore some more of the city instead?" She asked, I just smiled and nodded grabbing her servo to make our quick escape from the coliseum. We weaved through the crowd trying to get to the exits without disturbing too many bots. We stepped on a few bots pedes as the background noise of the more grewsum part of the fight started.
I felt Wave's grip tighten on my servo as we made our way out of the coliseum, she was getting more uncomfortable as the background noise got worse in the background. I didn't understand why she'd become a scout if she hated violence, I knew that her and Bumblebee had come across some pretty gruesome things that our battalions had done during the war.
Once we'd slipped out of the coliseum successfully I felt her grip losen. "Better?" I asked once we stopped some forty meters from the coliseum. "Much." she agreed, smiling a little. I smiled back, but I noticed how the defined lines around her and the objects around us blurred. It was like I was getting tunnel vision, and then I woke up.

I woke up with a start, I was laying down on a med berth in Knockouts lad. He was across from me checking something on his computer, breakdown was on the opposite side of the room doing something I couldn't see. "Ugh, what happened?" I asked rubbing my helm with one of my servos, I remembered being knocked unconscious by Bumblebee but I didn't know what had happened while I was knocked out.
"Well Breakdown and I found you in Megatron's lab sitting against a wall unconscious, we brought you back here and did a standard check up. Everything seems fine but take it slow for the rest of the day, you were out for quite a while." Knockout said turning around from his computer I nodded, "How long was I out for?" I asked sitting up to see Knockout better. "Mmm, long enough for something to blow up and for Megatron to come back for the brink of death." He responded flatly.
He was clearly very unhappy and Starscream's grab for power failed, while nobody was talking in the lad the faintest sound of screaming could be heard. "I guess Megatron got to Starscream." I noted to Knockout, "Yes it was the first thing he did when we awoke." he replied.
I tried to get off the berth but Knockout stopped me, "Ah ah ah, no leaving just yet. I haven't cleared you and while you may be fine physically and your processor isn't damaged, you need rest. That Autobot hit you pretty hard and you're going to need a few hours to recover, so in that time you can hang out with Breakdown and I or sleep." Knockout said blocking me from getting up.
I sighed, as much as I didn't want to hang out with these two, I had to because Knockout was being responsible and not letting me leave until he was absolutely sure that I was fine to go. "Alright fine I'll stay, but only long enough for Starscream to come in for repairs." I said smiling, I'd tired to warn him, I really had but mechs had a pattern of not listening very well to a femme with an opinion so now he was suffering the consiquences of his own misktakes.
"Fine, you can stay until Starscream gets here. But I doubt that will be soon, Megatron said that even he'd be surprised if Starscream survived this round of punishment." Knockout said, "Well I had a feeling it'd end up that way." I thought about laying back down. If I was trapped in a room until Primus knows when I might as well get some sleep out of it.
