Misfit Chapter 21: "The Deep Dark Mysteries Of Louie Duck"
- 20 minutes Before June Found The Note -
"Loser, loser. Oh look, it's Loser Duck!"
"Gahhhhhh I can't take this anymore! I'm going to go insane!" Louie sobbed.
He sighed. Louie concentrated on his thoughts.
The darkness was mocking him ruthlessly, and he couldn't think straight.
He sighed, remembering June.
Her sweet voice, her calming presence…
Louie found himself in a room inside McDuck manor.
"How did I end up here?" He wondered aloud.
Everything seemed…..well, weird.
The room he was in looked a lot like the room he and his brothers shared, except the colors of everything weren't blue, red, and green. They were yellow, orange, and purple.
A pretty girl duckling with a yellow hoodie sat on the bottom bunk, reading an article.
"Hello?" Louie said. He looked down and noticed he somehow had his body.
He frowned. The duckling seemed to be stuck in the same position, unmoving.
Louie's eyes darted to the clock, and he noticed that the hands weren't moving. This might not be a big deal in a normal household, but Scrooge always made sure that all the clocks in the house were in working condition.
He looked back at the duckling, and somehow he just knew it was June.
He just knew.
The way June was able to communicate with him meant in theory, he should be able to do as well. Oddly enough, he had somehow done something wrong, because time had stopped passing.
Louie looked at his feet to see that he was fading. Hurriedly, he rushed out of the room he was in and into his. Huey, Dewey, and Webby were inside, and he felt a pang of grief when he saw Huey's face.
No time. He though, rushing to his desk, spotting a pad of his famous green sticky notes lying on top of it. He quickly grabbed it, and he noticed that his legs had completely faded, and that he was basically floating. Unfortunately for him, there was no pen around.
Without thinking, Louie grabbed Huey's camping knife and cut his finger. He paused for a second. He needed to be quick, so he could only write one word. He needed something that June would understand. He smeared his index finger onto the paper, writing out "MISFIT" in bold letters.
He quickly ran back to the room June was in and put the note under the article. Right before he completely faded away, he got to study June for a bit: Her hair was poofy, and one strand of hair was in her face. Her eyes had thick, curly lashes with yellow eyeshadow in the form of a cat-eye, matching perfectly with her neon yellow hoodie.
Louie snapped back to reality.
- After June Found The Note-
"Louie?" The presence returned.
"June?" Louie asked.
"The note….." June's voice trailed off. She wondered if she should tell Louie about the article. She decided last minute that she didn't want to push his nerves, especially considering that Louie had gone through severe depression and she didn't want to risk losing his trust, "I'm sorry you feel like that…..but it's not true."
"How do you-"
"I know everything."
"What happened then? Can you tell me that?"
"I'd rather not."
June scowled, why did Louie have to be so secretive?
The whole mood of the conversation changed from casual to grim, "I'm not telling you. You're just going to think I'm….."
"You're what?"
"Bad."
"You aren't bad."
"And that's what scares me." Louie mumbled before he could stop himself.
"What scares you?"
"June, just listen. I AM bad, okay? What scares me is that you won't accept that."
"Louie….Louie…" June didn't know what to say.
She was speechless.
But not in a good way
Good and bad are scary things
How can you tell if something is actually good or actually bad?
Somebody else's good could be your bad….
And that's what's scary.
June disappeared, and Louie was alone once more.
He wanted to cry, except he couldn't.
He wanted to call for help, but no one could hear him.
He wanted to do so many things.
But he just couldn't.
He didn't know how to feel about June.
He really didn't.
Was she even his friend anymore?
No…
He didn't think so.
She was just like the rest.
Just like Della, like, Dewey, like everyone.
A perfect little angel.
A good person.
After all, how could she want to save a bad person?
- At McDuck Manor -
June sat down on the couch, shaking.
June, just listen. I AM bad, okay? What scares me is that you won't accept that.
What did he mean?
And even worse, the team had absolutely no idea what Glomgold and Magica were doing. Weeks had passed, and there was still no sign from either of them.
The whole case was as confusing as ever.
June sighed as she remembered her conversation with Louie.
"Maybe...hey wasn't Louie tech-obsessed like you? Did he have a computer or something?" April asked, walking up to her.
"I mean, he did mention that he had a computer in one of his sound diary recordings….why?" June told her older sister.
"Maybe that can help us figure out more about him. Come on!" April said, "So where do we look first? Where would Louie keep his computer?" April pondered.
"Probably in his room." May answered.
"I think we all know that, May." April rubbed her temple, "That's obvious. I meant where in his room."
"Let's go search." June said.
"But if we don't know where we're searching, it could take ages." April huffed.
"We should figure out a way to occupy Huey and Dewey while we're in there searching." May suggested.
"On it." June chuckled, "Hey Huey!"
"Yeah?" Huey entered the girls' room.
"I saw Dewey cheating off your homework!"
"He-WHAT?!" Huey immediately rushed out of the room.
April rolled her eyes at June, "real smart."
"Like you could do any better." June snorted in annoyance.
"Come on!" May urged.
The three girls ran out of their room and down the hallway to the boys' room.
"Start searching." April told her sisters.
June looked through the drawers of Huey's desk, in the closet, and under a plant.
"I give up. I'm too lazy to search for more." June dramatically laid down on the floor, "Wait what's this?" She looked over to her right where there was something under the bottom bunk of the triple-bunk bed.
She pulled out a grey computer with the Waddle logo adorned in stickers, "This must be it you guys!"
April and May peeked over her shoulder as she opened the computer, "It asks for Louie's password."
"I could probably hack my way into it." April said, fingers jabbing at the keyboard, "We're in."
The kids searched and searched, looking through the footage. They found videos of Louie pulling pranks on his brothers and annoying them, while in other videos he acted sweet.
June curled her lip, "This doesn't sound like Louie at all! Louie would never harm his family…"
"June, just listen. I AM bad, okay? What scares me is that you won't accept that." Louie's voice echoed in June's head.
"You're right! It's almost like he has two different personalities." April said.
I'm going to get a pen and paper to write all this down." June said, searching through the drawers in Huey's desk. "Wait a min. This is a false-bottom drawer." June took out the false bottom, "There's stuff in here."
"Be specific." May hissed.
"Well, it has this stuff about Louie. Like hospital records and such. And articles about something called 'split personality disorder…'"
"Wait what is that?" May asked.
"A mental illness in which the patient has two distinct personalities." April explained, reading off her Junior Woodchuck guidebook.
"So Louie has a good side and a bad side?" June was starting to understand.
"Precisely. " April said.
June looked through the papers and spotted a note jotted down on a piece of notebook paper in Huey's handwriting:
He's getting worse…
"What's getting worse? His mental disorder?" June wondered.
"I think." May said.
"He's getting worse….wait…..Louie felt like he didn't fit in…..I think it got worse when Della arrived….and Magica and Glomgold must have taken advantage of that!" June gasped.
"So then Magica and Glomgold must be using his bad side to have access to his evil schemes." May realized.
"This is not going to end well." June gulped.
Don't forget to review, follow, and fav! Bye! :) ;D
