Lexie was seething with rage as she stormed out of the hospital after her shift ended that evening. All she wanted was to sleep in her own bed instead of the one in the On-Call room because it was more comfortable, especially at this stage of her pregnancy.

But Mark had refused to leave the hospital as long as Callie and Sofia were still there, and when she had suggested that they spend the night apart until the two of them were released so she could be more comfortable, he had accused her of pushing him away again.

Meredith and Derek were making out on the couch when they heard the front door slam shut. Quickly jumping apart like two teenagers, they caught a glance of Lexie storming upstairs to her room, clearly upset about something.

"I'll go talk to her." Meredith sighed, looking at Derek. "But if she's upset about something that Mark did again, I might actually kill him this time."

Lexie had essentially turned her current room into a nursery. With the exception of a few essential items, most of her stuff was still in the attic to make room for her child. So when Meredith entered the room, she was unsurprised to see Lexie folding tiny baby clothes as she cried. The task was soothing to her, and she enjoyed marveling at the adorableness of them.

Looking up, Lexie wiped the tears running down her cheeks as Meredith sat beside her on the bed. "Mark accused me of trying to push him away again when I suggested that we spend the night apart until Callie and Sofia are released from the hospital so I can sleep more comfortably. He refuses to leave while they are still there, and I understand that he wants to be there for them, I really do, but they always seem to come first. Callie always seems to come first."

Meredith shook her head. "Lexie, you need to stick up for yourself. Callie may be the mother of his daughter, but she's not his girlfriend. You are, or you were. If he wants to rebuild his relationship with you, then he needs to put you before her. Not before Sofia, but before Callie. Callie has Arizona, she doesn't need Mark hovering around her too, acting like a worried boyfriend."

"Try telling him that." Lexie muttered angrily.

"I'm serious Lexie! You need to tell him to set some boundaries with Callie. As soon as Sofia is ready to be discharged, he needs to step back from his involvement with Callie, starting with leaving the hospital. Look, Sofia will always come before you. It will be the same with your son. Mark will always put his children before anything and anyone else. It's just who he is. But after them, his priority should be you, not Callie, if he wants to be with you again. But the only way that's going to happen is if you tell him."
