It was three months into Luther's mission and he had gained a work schedule. It seemed like every second of his day had been planned out with surveillance or other jobs. Until the second week, when he saw a ship crash into the surface. Driving out to it he found that there was no way that it would fly again, and was about to turn around when he saw the survivor. The girl was about five years younger than him and was unconscious with several possible breaches in her suit and a piece of pipe sticking out of her side under her ribcage.

He knelt next to her and was about to look for any identification when she suddenly grabbed his arm. Knowing that she wouldn't survive long he scooped her up and rushed her back to his pod. Taking off her outer suit to reveal a jumpsuit he also treated her wounds and bound up the one in her stomach as well as he could.

It was about a day before she woke up, and was startled to find herself in a strange pod and on a stranger's bed. Trying to it up shot pain through her body and a huge man came in and knelt by her, "Hey, It's alright. Your safe here. My name is Luther."

"Eight. Is this?" Pain shot through her causing the question to sound bitten off.

He finished, "The moon? Yes it is." He stood up and went to the kitchen. Bringing back a bowl of soup for her, "I found your crash, and brought you to my pod."

ELEVEN? No, can't show emotion. Taking the bowl,"Was there anyone else?"

He shook his head, "No, I didn't see anyone else?" Seeing her stricken look, "I'm sorry." After a minute, "Who was it?"

"My sister. She begged me to let her tag along, I shouldn't have let her." While she said this her hand clenched on the blanket.

He covered her hand with his, "It's not your fault." She nodded, "Now miss?"

"Eight."

"Miss eight, I think you should get some rest." He was standing up and she clutched his arm instinctively, "Don't worry, I'll be just outside the pod working on the Rover." Motioning to the radio on the stand, "You can use that to call me if you need anything." Seeing the nod of understanding, he left.

Well, she thought, this might not be so bad after all. After finishing the soup she allowed sleep to claim her again.

Luther really was working on the Rover, but he wondered about the girl Eight. There were not that many in the Academy, and she was too young too have been born on that same day. Why was she so afraid when she looked at him. It was almost as if she feared him but needed his comfort at the same time.

Well, I have to help her. He concluded, but how do I help someone who is terrified to let anyone close to them? After work and thought he decided on showing her that she could trust him and that he at least would not hurt her. Now knowing the plain turned his mind over to ways of executing the plan. It would take some very careful planning, but he might be able to pull it off for both of their sakes.
