hello hello hello!

qotd: who's your favourite character so far from this fic?

my answer: even though this fic is moonscar sentric, she's an unreliable narrator (yes i know i'm writing her lmao.) my fave is probably either berryfoot or sheepfur, though i adore writing for moonscar and developing her character.

Mintflight0245: Thank you! Writing romantic stuff is HARD, i literally have to plot out each vaguely fluffy scene to the letter otherwise it looks odd. And yep lmao i can defo see that after starting sita

SomeStormLeaf: Hahaha it's okay, her thought process is VERY bitchy. We stan character development! And yes, most romantic date idea ever.

I might write a one-shot about berryfoot growing up in windclan i really want to explore her character more tbh.

Hintofmint223: I AM SO CONFUSED. "LARK SONG SOUND HARMONY?" "PEARL PAW?" "WOOF WOOF?"

(this person is my sister who has never read warriors and is reviewing 4 kicks. Please stop x)

Honeyferns: Awww thank you so much! And i've loved writing her journey sm, i'm really pleased that i changed the ending of her story. (when i explain what i had originally happening you are all going to be ANNOYED.) and sheepmoon 4 the win!

I will probably go back and try to add like 300 words to each early chapter, and rewrite the first two main chapters from an actual POV.

ReadingEevee: Oh mad really? Thank you very much for the fave+follow btw! (also i reviewed ur fic but i am unsure if you've seen it because of the reviews issue)

Duskspiral:!Oh awesome, i'll defo go back and re-write/edit them at some point. And (this feels really weird to typeout) I LOVE THAT DEATH ACTUALLY LOL. love the kit 00names as well! And yep, berryfoot will probs join thunderclan. You'll have to see in this chapter!

Crystalshine of Lightclan: heh, you will see!

Sunkit is such a cute name oh my

Thank u! And she is dw she'll be back to her usual self soon enough.

right, i think that was every review! Thank you so much if you reviewed. (not hintofmint. Why do u think my user is succulentgarden lmao) (once again hintofmint is my sister, i am not bullying)

as always! feel free to review, and pm me ! :D

Moonscar thought that Berryfoot and Sheepfur were settling in quite well.

They had only been in Thunderclan for a moon, but Moonscar felt like they'd been there all her life. Berryfoot seemed to fit right in among the other Thunderclan cats, she'd already struck up a friendship with Heatherskip. (Moonscar had finally gotten the dappled grey she-cat's name right the other day, which had felt like a miracle in itself.) She offered herself for every dawn and dusk patrol, which Moonscar had been confused about until she confided in Sheepfur. Apparently Berryfoot always had done those two patrols, because they were quieter. That made sense to Moonscar. Berryfoot had always been a relaxed cat, it made sense that she didn't want to be surrounded by that many cats.

The Thunderclan camp had been anything but relaxed this past half-moon.

Emberlight had given birth to four healthy kits a half-moon ago. Moonscar had visited them once, poking her head in before a border patrol. She didn't really want to stay for long. Sparrowthorn practically hadn't moved from the nursery since the birth of the kits, and Moonscar was still apprehensive about spending too much time with the brown tom. She didn't really know why. She had no real reason to dislike him; he was a good warrior, and it was very clear that he loved Emberlight. And he'd been an excellent father so far. The tiny kittens still hadn't opened their eyes; but they were bumbling around the nursery on unsteady feet. From what Moonscar had heard, Sparrowthorn had been watching them wobble about, ready to step in with a paw to help them up when they fell over.

Moonscar had decided to visit the kits properly this morning. Sheepfur had offered to join her with Berryfoot, but she'd told them that she wanted to visit them alone for a while, and then they could join later. Sheepfur had nodded at that, and had gone off hunting with Berryfoot, Pebblepelt and Heatherskip.

She waited outside the nursery, waiting to see if Sparrowthorn was inside. She assumed he was, but she could be lucky. She didn't seem to be. She could just about make out his brown coat through the entwined brambles that made up the Thunderclan nursery, and the faint mew of his voice as he murmured to the kits.

She stepped inside the nursery, and mewed a quick greeting to Maplethroat, who was pregnant with Smokeshadow's kits. Even though it would be Dovefoot raising them alongside Maplethroat, she hoped that the kittens would carry on some of Smokeshadow's better traits. However, if there were mini copies of Smokeshadow running around, snapping at every cat in sight, she'd think she'd go insane. It was bad enough with just one of him.

(That was a lie, really. She loved Smokeshadow deep down, the grumpy old furball.)

She padded over to Emberlight, and sighed. She was curled up, fast asleep, with Sparrowthorn watching over her and the kits protectively. He looked up when she entered, his eyes narrowing.

"Moonscar." He mewed, his voice rough. "What are you doing here? Don't you have a clan to run?" Moonscar winced at that barb, a clear jab towards her incompetence as deputy.

"I thought I'd visit the kits." Moonscar said, as calmly as she could. "What are their names again?" She asked, sitting down, wrapping her thick tail around her paws.

Sparrowthorn yawned, and stretched out as he stood up. He padded round to the kits, who were all fast asleep. "This is Dawnkit." He mewed, holding his paw up to show Moonscar what kit he was talking about. Moonscar peeped closer. The kit looked somewhat like Daffodilheart, he was a soft golden colour, and splattered with white patches. Moonscar blinked at the tiny kit, not caring that he could see her. "This is Sunkit." Sparrowthorn continued, pointing at a light ginger tom.

"Hi." Moonscar mewed quietly. Sparrowthorn looked at her curiously as she pushed her face closer to the kits, smiling down at them.

"This one is Bramblekit." Sparrowthorn said fondly, gesturing at a small brown she-cat. She was the spitting image of Sparrowthorn, down to the white under-belly. "And she's Finchkit." He finished, smiling dotingly at the litter. Finchkit was a dusky brown she-cat, flecked with darker brown dots. The tiny kit reminded Moonscar of Emberlight, and she grinned at her.

"They're perfect." Mewed Moonscar, meaning every word. They were.

Sparrowthorn nodded. "Is anybody else joining us?" He mewed, his tone slightly urgent. Moonscar blinked.

"I told Sheepfur and Berryfoot they could visit after they've finished hunting, will that be a problem?" She asked politely. Frankly, she couldn't care less if it would be a problem, but she was deputy now and she had a certain reputation to uphold.

Sparrowthorn shook his head. "It shouldn't be." He mewed. "Any idea when they're coming?" He asked.

Moonscar turned around, and looked outside. She turned back to Sparrowthorn. "They said just after sunhigh."

"Alright." Mewed Sparrowthorn. "Look, I just wanted to talk to you about something."

Moonscar flicked her ears, and leaned back slightly. "I'm listening." She said, looking just past Sparrowthorn at the kits. Sunkit had just woken up, and was burrowing into Emberlight's belly. She smiled at the little kit, and looked back up at Sparrowthorn.

"I think that we got off on the wrong foot as apprentices." Sparrowthorn mewed. His tone was carefully measured, diplomatic. "Emberlight said that you didn't like other cats talking to her as apprentices, and that's why you were so- well, you were quite rude."

Moonscar stiffened. Emberlight had said that? About her? To Sparrowthorn? Starclan, if she'd told him about their pact, she'd- she didn't know what she'd do. Follow through with whatever Starclan wanted her to do sooner than expected, probably. "Go on." She mewed.

"And we never really spoke after your accident." Sparrowthorn stared at the ground. "I should have probably comforted you or something. I'm sorry."

"It's okay." Moonscar murmured. She was confused. At first, she thought that Sparrowthorn wanted her to apologise, but now it seemed like it was the other way round. Weird.

"Look." Sparrowthorn started, his voice tight with emotion. "I just want you to know that I love your sister. With all my heart. And I'll do anything for her, and she asked me to talk to you. Because she wants you to feel like I'm part of your family." He mewed, all in a rush.

Moonscar blinked quickly. This was very different to what she'd first thought. She'd assumed that Emberlight was okay with her not having any kind of relationship with Sparrowthorn. Not that she wanted them to be like family.

"Okay." She whispered, so quietly that Sparrowthorn hardly heard her. When he took in what she'd said, his face lit up. Even with Moonscar's obscured vision, she could see how happy the tom was.

"Really?" He asked, like he could hardly believe it.

"Of course. I mean, you're technically family now. And these kits…" Moonscar looked down at the tiny kits, and smiled. "I want them to be in my life, and I guess that comes with you."

Sparrowthorn full on grinned at her. Suddenly, his ears pricked up, and he looked outside the den. When he whirled back to look at her again, he had an amused smile on his face. "I think your friends are back." He purred.

Moonscar looked outside the den, and snorted. Berryfoot and Heatherskip were struggling to drag a hare to the fresh-kill pile, while Pebblepelt and Sheepfur watched on, bent over with laughter. Foxstar was even wearing a half-smile, looking down on the little scene from the highledge.

Berryfoot and Heatherskip finally managed to drop the hare on the fresh-kill pile, which sent half of the prey already stacked flying. A squirrel landed on Berryfoot's head, which only set Pebblepelt and Sheepfur into fits of giggles. Heatherskip muttered something to Berryfoot, and the black she-cat's ears turned bright red. Moonscar murmured "Huh." under her breath. She'd suspected that the two she-cats were growing close, but not like that. She was happy for them, though. It was a sign that Berryfoot was settling into Thunderclan, and thriving.

Sheepfur looked up from the fresh-kill pile, and up at Moonscar. He grinned, and bounded over.

"Hey!" He mewed, squeezing into the nursery. Berryfoot followed after him, slightly sheepish.

"Hello." Purred Moonscar. "How was hunting?"

"It was brilliant, I caught a bird!" Exclaimed Sheepfur. "Not sure what it was though."

Berryfoot rolled her eyes. "I told you what it was. It was a crow. Honestly." She said affectionately.

"I saw the hare." Moonscar mewed to Berryfoot. "Who caught that?"

Berryfoot shrugged. "It was kind of a group effort, really. Me and Heatherskip chased it, and Sheepfur managed to corner it." Moonscar looked closer at Berryfoot. At the mention of Heatherskip's name, her ears tinged a faint red and the corner of her mouth lifted. Moonscar smiled slightly, and decided to keep it to herself.

"It clawed me." Sheepfur said sulkily. "Look." He said, baring his side to Moonscar. She was worried, for a heart-beat, before looking closer. The hare's claws had hardly parted Sheepfur's thick fur. Moonscar laughed, her mew deep.

"Poor thing." She said, in a deadpanned voice. Berryfoot chuckled.

Berryfoot peaked around Moonscar, and tried to look at the kits. She couldn't quite see, and turned to look at Moonscar with pleading eyes. "Can we see the kits?" She asked.

Moonscar blinked at her, and moved out of the way. "Of course!" She purred.

Berryfoot and Sheepfur walked hesitantly in, mewing a quiet greeting to Maplethroat, who sleepily meowed one back. Sheepfur headed straight to the kits, but Berryfoot hung back to quietly chat to Sparrowthorn.

"They're beautiful!" Exclaimed Sheepfur, taking in the sight of the tiny kits. Moonscar hummed an agreement, and walked to stand next to him. She knelt down by his side, and explained which kit was which in a hushed voice.

"They're gorgeous names, when you have kits we shou-" Sheepfur stopped talking very suddenly, his eyes wide. "Sorry." He stammered. Moonscar turned to stare at him. Her heart was pounding. She had never considered that before, but now that she did- she quite liked the idea.

She bumped into Sheepfur playfully. "Of course I want kits, you mouse-brain." She mewed affectionately. "Just not quite yet."

Sheepfur gaped at her, his jaw hanging wide open. "Ar-are you sure?" He asked.

Moonscar nodded, and she knew she'd never been more sure of anything in her life. "Positive."
