The Lost Knight
By Kellie Fay
Disclaimer: Sonic and Co. Belong to Sega and all connected parties. My creativity demons just require I do this.
Thanks to all who have taken this ride with me. Especially those who have left their feedback. To ShadAmy1Fan: No comment on the special guest that Sonic and Shadow met? Or are you trying not to spoil it for others. Bonus points to those who can figure out the names of Sonic's two cousins who own a tailor shop, and their sister. (evil grin)
Epilogue: He did this, he had to have done this!
Sonic lay on Amy's bed missing her. Sonic came by earlier to find an empty house, and a hastily written note.
Going into Season. In shrine on Angel Island. I'm fine will be back in a week; Amy.
Since Amy's gonna be gone for a week, I should check with the girls to see if they got an answer from mom. A few days after Knuckles' festival Sonic made it a point to swing by the town where two of his cousins kept their tailor shop. He wanted to ask his mom a bunch of questions about Chance and didn't want his dad to see the letter. He learned long ago that if he wanted to keep his mom appraised on his adventures it was better for him to send his letters through his cousins. They would simply add his letter to their own. His dad thought they didn't like him, but that wasn't why they denied knowing him. They didn't want it known that their cousin was the famous Sonic the Hedgehog because they wanted their shop to be a place of business not a tourist attraction.
It's been a month since the festival, and six since Amy went into Season that first time. Sonic quickly reviewed the aftermath of that and decided that getting kidnapped was the worst of it. At least that wasn't his fault. Everything else pretty much was.
Well not everything, he thought to himself. He turned his mind inward to check on what his dark reflection was doing. So how is it going?"
As well as can be expected, Shadow answered. How long are you going to let this go on?
At least an hour, Sonic answered. Maybe a little more he's gotta learn this lesson. He's not going to find them. After I buried them, I ran over the spot about a thousand times. It looks just like regular ground. I'll tell you where in a little bit if you let me veg here.
You are so buzzed from that Chaos Lamp, Shadow teased.
Even though he wasn't anywhere near Shadow, Sonic shrugged. Pretty much.
I thought you had forgiven him, Shadow commented, watching the proceedings.
Sonic chuckled a little. I did, but when I finally told Pie and Kat exactly what happened they both agreed it is not appropriate for a prince of the blood to use the geis against me especially because I volunteered, and it was a promise. This is coming from the closest thing they have to a high priestess, and the heir to the Kitsune throne. And guess who gets to tell him that?
You did it, it should be you, Shadow countered.
Oh. but you are so much better at being mean, Shadow! And technically I just obeyed the Kitsune princess. It was her call. Sonic couldn't resist listening through Shadow to the commotion in Tails' workshop.
"I can't sense them anywhere Tails," Silver said apologetically.
Tails flew around his workshop looking in every corner and crevice furiously. "He did this, he had to have done this!"
"Why would Sonic do this?" Silver asked.
"If I didn't know better, I'd swear he was getting even with me for something." Tails suddenly paused in midair and turned to Shadow. "You know where Sonic is."
"I do," Shadow admitted calmly, "and even though Sonic admits to being the perpetrator he insists the punishment is coming from Katrina and Pie. They seem to think you committed some offense by forcing Sonic against his will."
Tails' face fell, and he descended to the ground. "Oh, yeah they would think that. So, I'm guessing you're not going to tell me where Sonic is."
"Sonic is being lazy and quiet right now," Shadow said firmly. "So, I'm not going to let anyone bother him. He said he will tell you after he's certain you understand how unsettled, worried, and frantic you made him." Still glaring at Tails, he added, "Remember I can read Sonic's thoughts if I make the effort. The longer you were missing, the more of his mind became occupied with finding you. He couldn't even hold still to talk to Knuckles, and he could not even think of where you might have gone."
"Okay, okay, I probably deserve this," Tails admitted. With a heavy sigh he went to his drafting table and selected a new page and a pencil. "I might as well design a new security system then. I think Knuckles needs a system with a panic button if Angel Island is ever invaded again."
"And to keep Sonic out of your workshop?" Shadow asked amused.
Tails shook his head then focused on drawing. "I can't, in less than a week I'll need him to come in here for some reason. Believe me I've tried. This isn't the first time he's hidden my tools on me."
The End.
