French Narrator: Two months later...
Early Wednesday, September 15th, 2010. Week 14 in the Culinary Arts Program.
In the dark of night, as the animals slept inside the Mid-Peninsula Pet Shop and Hospital in downtown Menlo Park, there was a CRASH!
Upon hearing the sound of an alarm going off, the parrots squawked, the fish hid in the sand, the turtles ducked into their shells and the chameleons turned themselves invisible.
Nathan: In the morning, while waiting for the bus, I was reading the reviews for "The Light in the Piazza*" in the newspaper.
"What do you think?" I asked Flynn. "Something worth seeing?"
"Yeah, I'm not into one of those cheesy romantic comedies." said Flynn.
"Doesn't say anything about a comedy." I said while re-reading the reviews.
"Or otherwise." added Flynn. "Besides, I thought you were only into the movies."
"I am." I said. "But now that I'm reading this, there could be a baby step towards a different direction of interest. Something that Rapunzel might have."
Before Flynn could speak, someone cried out. "Oh, goodness me!"
It was the owner of the Mid-Peninsula Pet Shop and Hospital, which was across the street from the CalTrain station.
"Excuse me. What's going on?" I asked, walking up to the pet shop owner, who replied. "Someone broke into the shop and stole all the chameleons."
Flynn and I saw that there was a hole in the store window and that the chameleon habitat was empty.
"Wait, don't they just disappear?" asked Flynn. "Isn't that, you know, their thing?"
"Well, yes, but..." began the pet shop owner before Flynn cut him off, saying. "Then, I'm sure they're around somewhere. Now if you excuse us, we..."
Before he could continue, we heard a squeal of fright.
Flynn and I looked down to see a stray chameleon hurrying towards the shop.
"Found one!" I called out.
But before the chameleon reached the shop, a black cat pounced on it, hissed at us, and took off into the sky with his captured prey to our shock and surprise.
"I recognize one of those cats." said Flynn.
"I recognize one of them too." I said upon seeing...
"Meowrice!"
"Who?" asked Flynn.
"I'll explain on the bus, where it's safe." I whispered.
From outside his lair, Meowrice watched as Flynn and I hurried to ths bus.
"Keep an extra close watch on them." he instructed to his henchcats. "We wouldn't want anyone straying into things they shouldn't."
Once the black cats have flown off, Meowrice gobbled up the chameleon that was caught while those that were caged watched in terror.
Author's Note:
*Ever since I read the reviews for "The Light in the Piazza," which was performing in my area around that time, I had a keen interest in seeing it for myself, for the aspects and environment of this romantic musical made me think of "Tangled," especially the music that was being put into it.
