What happens when Hevy from the Domino Squad befriends a clone from the Vanglorians, who are famous for killing anyone with ties to the outside? Will they fall in love? 19. Chapter 19 Awake

When Starlight and Heavy got back to the Medical bay they found that Burn and Long Shot had also woken up. This took precedence in Starlights mind as she ran to hug her brothers and they all started talking (in Starlights's case signing) at once. To Heavy's surprise, Standing Bear waved him over. The Vanglorian didn't cut corners, "I felt Starlight's distress just before you left the mess hall. What happened?"

After Heavy finished explaining, "But he was an exception. No one else here would treat her like that and now his case will be seen as a warning."

Standing Bear tilted his head to one side, "I know that." Before Heavy could finish his silent sigh of relief, "What confuses me is why the rule breaker is allowed to live. Wouldn't it be more efficient just to kill him?"

Only now did they realize that Captain Rex was in the room as he spoke, "We prefer to correct our people when they have done wrong. Not to kill them over any thing." Realizing his severity he continued in a milder tone, "How else can they get better?"

Nodding slowly Standing Bear answered, "That is logical." Looking at Heavy, "Your people are more forgiving. We would have gutted him, and strung him up so that his slow death was an example to other troublemakers." Then with a long sigh, "I will probably be facing that fate soon." Seeing their confusion, "Did you forget? I was supposed to have Starlight be placed in a cylinder by the engine so that when we blow up the ship she would die too." He shrugged,"It's standard procedure if we have to abandon ship."

Neither member of the Republic had anything to say to that. So they were happy that Starlight ran up and tugged on Standing Bear's arm to get his attention. Dead Shot spoke up, "Sarg, we need you to translate what shes saying. All we can make out is mess hall because she's so excited."

Giving an apologetic look to the Republic clones Standing Bear spoke, "Is there anything else we can help with?"

Rex shook his head, "No. Heal up."

Starlight hurried forward and tugged on Heavy's arm as Rex headed to the door and the Vanglorians started into a brotherly banter. When he looked at her she signed that she hoped he would come later so that they could have dinner together. He nodded, "Of course." Then he followed his Captain out of the room. The shutting door cut off Standing Bears description of the ship.
