Gary's pov
"I got this match along with the captaincy of the team" as he was running towards the spectator's site where ash is seated.
"Hey Ashy boy" he called Ash as he was talking with Brendan, Serena & Dawn
"Yup, Gary? Why aren't you practicing with the others?" Asked Ash with curiosity
"Get yourself together, because you're going to help us practice because we have one player short" answered Gary with a smirk.
"You aren't kidding me right?" Asks ash as his eyes started to sparkle with excitement.
"Of course he is kidding, otherwise why would he ask a basketball player to play soccer with them just before our practice session," says Brendan as he grabs the attention of all of them.
"Yeah, I think Brendan is right," said Dawn in an uncertain manner.
"OH! Don't worry Ashy boy is a tough cookie" says Gary smirking to Ash making others confused.
"I think I should give it a chance," says ash winking to Gary but no one else takes notice of this.
"As you wish but don't overdo it because our basketball practice starts right after this," said Brendan to Ash
"Ah don't worry I can manage that" replied Ash as he stands up to go after Gary and he watches Serena giving a somewhat worried look.
"Ashy boy hurry up," says Gary as they both run towards the practice area
Serena's Pov-
"Well he sure is confident about playing soccer," said Dawn to Serena sensing her worried glance
"Yeah but he must be careful and not be overconfident" replied Serena to Dawn as they watch Gary & ash move to the field.
"Someone is getting worried for someone" whispered Dawn to Serena
"It's nothing like that Dawn" defended Serena as she saw Dawn smirking at her.
"Oh really? I can see that" teases Dawn while Serena blushed
"What are you both talking about?" Asked Brendan in a confused manner.
"Nothing! It is just some girl talk" replied Serena as she defends herself.
Third person's pov
ON THE FIELD
"Wow, so he chose Ketchum over the players of Football team," said Calem as he watches Gary coming alongside Ash.
"Congrats Calem, the captaincy is all yours," said Paul while laughing
"Yeah, looks like it's going to be a win-win situation for us so let's get moving," said Calem as he started moving towards Gary & Ash
"Hey, Calem, Ashy boy is on my side, and I guess you got the players you wanted?" Said Gary in an uncaring manner.
"Oh yeah but tell you one thing this is not a basketball game" taunted Calem while laughing.
"Laugh all you want for now because after that match you would be so stunned to even say a word." Said Gary while smiling.
"Talk all talk, let's play now," said Calem while picking up the ball.
While playing Gary passed the ball to Ash to which he just normally let them steal showing he is just an amateur to which Gary got angry and Paul scored a goal
IN THE STANDS
"What else can you expect from a basketball player if he plays soccer." Said Dawn as she saw Ash handling the ball.
"Don't be so hard on him" said Serena
"I am not being hard on anyone, I am just stating the facts," said Dawn
ON THE FIELD
"You did that intentionally I know ashy boy, don't you?" Asked Gary when Ash just mishandled the ball"
"Maybe or maybe not," Ash said sheepishly
"Please for me, you know it is the title of captain on line," Gary said in a serious manner.
"HURRY UP! DON'T MAKE US WAIT MORE FOR THE WIN" Shouted Calem while taunting.
"Okay! For you, gare bare but let me fool around now, let them celebrate till it's time" said Ash as he winked to Gary.
"I didn't know you had that much devil inside of you & it's going to be fun," said Gary as he takes his position.
After 15 minutes
IN THE STANDS
"It's 4-1 and Calem is really showing up why he is Captain," said Serena
"Someone showing a lot of confidence in her ex-boyfriend" teased Dawn to which Serena glared at her.
"Don't know about you guys but I can see Gary is still pretty confident & look at Ash there he is just enjoying, don't know what's up with them" says Brendan as he points to them.
Serena watched them & noticed Ash mainly for a bit more and coincidentally Ash gazed over her at the same time & then winked to her and then she averts her gaze.
"What did he just do?" asked Dawn in a staggering voice.
"What?" Serena asked Dawn thinking that she caught him winking at her.
"4-2 now because of Ash, he just scooped the ball from Calem & passed to Gary," said Dawn while Serena just breathed a sigh of relief
"It's just luck, maybe," said Brendan with not much to say
"Not sure about that, even Calem didn't saw that coming," said Dawn
"Well it's just 5 minutes remaining & they can't turn the tables now, so I think we should go Dawn for our own practice sessions," said Dawn to Serena while standing for her seat
"Yeah, let's go & will see you again, Brendan," said Serena in a chubby manner.
"Tell Calem that I said bye," says Serena while winking at him.
ON THE GROUND
"Ashy boy that was some steal," said Gary as he runs towards Ash for a hug.
"Told you just let me fool around until it's time," said Ash while gazing towards the empty stands where Serena was once seated
"Too bad for you ashy boy, now the spectators are gone," said Gary while teasing.
"Not so bad you know, she won't have to see her defeated ex-boyfriend, it's just a trailer after all," said Ash to which Gary began to laugh.
AFTER 10 MINUTES
Gary had won & Ash had already left for his basketball practice.
"I can't believe, we lost," says Paul to Calem.
"Me too" replied Calem in a low tone
"Told you already that I am going to win, "said Gary in an arrogant manner.
"Well you're now captain, so don't let that win go on your mind," said Paul
"Well I won't knowing that will be for a very short period," said Gary with the last part mumbling to himself
"Anyways Gary, Ash does play well for a newbie," said Calem.
"Yeah, I know but now I must go, Lillie, must be waiting for me," said Gary as he walks away while waving at them
"Calem, do you really think the steals Ash made was just lucky?" Asked Paul in a curious manner as soon Gary walks away.
"I don't know Paul it's just difficult to process at this time & we surely need to think over it but we will see that after tomorrow's match," said Calem as he began to walk away
MEANWHILE WITH ASH
"Ash, you really stunned others with the steals you made," said Brendan
"Ah! You're here, I thought you were gone & that's nothing like that. I was lucky and they were just overconfident that's all I guess" said Ash in a staggered manner.
"But still three steals in just the last 5 minutes it's not a small thing," said Brendan.
"Hmm yeah I guess or maybe I would love to play both the games," said Ash in a joking manner and he left behind a staggered Brendan.
