Emma got up early to fix breakfast for her and Killian before he had to go to work. Killian was surprised given that Emma likes to sleep late. "You're up early love!" Killian said as he placed a kiss on Emma's forehead. "Yeah, I couldn't sleep last night. I wasn't feeling too good so I just decided to get up early and surprise you. Besides, Regina invited me to her playdate with Zelena and her daughter."
"Regina invited you or you told her you were going to accompany her and bargained with her?" Killian said sarcastically.
"Okay so maybe I invited myself. Only because I'm bored from being home! Mom and dad only let me work two days out of the week and I get lonely because you're gone all day." Emma said with a slight sadness in her voice. "Ah…love. I know and I'm sorry. I'm looking for a break so that we can welcome our little girl when she's ready. I promise I will make it up to both of you. I won't be working this much when she's here, which is why I'm putting in the hours now. Are you going to be alright?" Killian embraces Emma from behind while she is sitting on her chair trying to finish her breakfast. Emma smiles and leans her head against his arms. "Yeah, I'll be fine. I enjoy giving Regina a hard time. Makes the time go by fast." They both chuckled. "Ok, my love, you have fun and I'll see you later tonight."
Henry has adjusted to his sophomore year as best he can. He's had some ups and downs just like most high schoolers. He's dabbed at student council and was voted as treasurer for the Sophomore class. He was encouraged by Regina to run and went as far as helping Henry make campaign posters and participating in school functions and meetings. Henry was also nominated into the National Honor Society and has even made a good set of friends that have encouraged him in participating in student organizations and functions that Storybrooke High School had to offer.
It's the start of the third hour and the bell rings to indicate the beginning of class. Henry pulls out his homework and finishes the last two problems he didn't get to finish last night. "Alright class, we have a new student joining us today!" Mrs. Ali announced to the class, "please welcome…" she is ruffling through papers to introduce the new student, "Violet Morgan from Camelot, Massachusetts." Henry bolts up from his homework from the familiarity of the name. Mrs. Ali hands Violet her work and points her to her seat. "Violet, you can sit next to Henry." Violet sees where Mrs. Ali is pointing and her eyes light up. "Violet!" Henry said with a wide smile, "Henry! It's good to see you!" Violet smiled back.
"It's good to see you too! What are you doing in Storybrooke?"
"My dad got transferred here last week! He's working out in the docks. He's their new crew technician."
"Oh cool! My dad works there! He's the Director!"
Mrs. Ali brings the class to attention, "alright class, please turn in your math assignment. It's due today, if you don't have it, 10 points a day will be deducted from your grade. Violet, you're excused from this assignment so don't worry about it." Violet replied, "thank you, Mrs. Ali." Mrs. Ali begins her teaching until the end of the hour. The bell rings and Mrs. Ali dismisses her class, "What's your next class?" Henry asked Violet. "It looks like I have Ms. DeVill for U.S. history." Violet handed Henry her schedule. "Ms. DeVill is dramatic so don't get scared, fifth hour you have Science with Mr. Hyde, he's pretty cool, and it looks like you and I share sixth hour with Ms. Mal for English!" Henry handed the schedule back and Violet gives it a second glance, "what is L1?" "That means you have the first lunch! I do too. Come on, I'll show you where the cafeteria is!" Henry and Violet walk together, while Henry shows her around on the way. They sit down and open their lunches that their moms packed with love. After about ten minutes, Henry's phone rings but ignores it. "You're not going to answer that?" Violet wondered. Henry shook his head, "no, it's probably my mom asking how my lunch is going. Every other day she'll call me around this time and just say hi." He smiles and continues on his lunch. "That's sweet!" Violet added. Henry's phone rings again, "ugh…she's not going to stop until I answer. Give me a second," Henry said as he answered, "Hi, mom, I'm doing good…mom?" Henry is stopped abruptly and Violet looks on with curiosity as Henry continues, "wait, who are you?" There is a brief pause, "is she alright? Okay, let me call my dad and I'll go to the office and wait for him there. Thank you for calling me!" Henry hangs up the phone, "sorry Violet. I have to go. It's my mom…I'm sorry I have to go." Henry quickly gathers his things and rushes to the office.
It's a busy day at the docks as Killian oversees his crew. His manager walks in with a new employee. "Killian, this is Hank Morgan. He moved here from Camelot, Massachusetts, and is your new Crew Technician!" Killian recognizes and remembers him from their trip to Disneyworld. "Mr. Morgan! Yes! I remember you, very happy to have you on my team, mate! How have you been?" Mr. Morgan grows more relaxed, "Mr. Jones! Yes! I remember you! I don't feel so nervous now! I've been good, I'm excited to get started!" Mr. Morgan shakes hands with Killian, "come on, let me show you around." Killian and Hank make their rounds around the warehouse and dock station as Killian goes over Hank's new job. They take a break and head to the break room and have a small chat.
"So, Hank, how is the family?"
"They're doing good! My daughter is a sophomore and she was nervous this morning starting her first day at Storybrooke High."
"Oh, she'll be alright. My son, Henry is Sophomore there too!"
"My wife starts her new job at the Town Hall. She's the new Office Manager there."
"Oh, so she'll be working with Regina! She's the Mayor. You remember, Regina? She's the one whose daughter got lost whom Violet found."
"Oh yes! I do! Such a nice lady!"
"You'll like Storybrooke. My wife is the Sheriff but took an early maternity leave."
"Aww, congratulations, man! Boy or girl?"
"Girl. I'm excited! This is my first daughter."
"Oh man, daughters are great. It's a special bond you develop that just keeps growing long after they start talking and even walking. My Violet is my everything, she makes me so proud every day. I know you're going to have so much fun with your new little girl, trust me when I say it's a special feeling. Sons are great don't get me wrong, my son is an amazing kid, but there is just something about little girls that just completes you."
"Wow. That's good to know. I can't wait to hold my little girl, now." Killian beamed with pride.
Just then, Killian receives a call from Henry, "excuse me, Hank, it's my son." "Go right ahead, I'll get started on my tasks!" Hank cleans up their table and starts to look over his tasks that he took notes on. Killian answers, "hi son, what's up?" there is a pause, "are you at school? Did you call your dad?" Killian puts his hand on his head, "is she okay? Where's your, mom? Ok, I'll go pick you up and we'll head over to the hospital."
"Ok Robin, we moved all the lumber from the lake and hauled it to the sawmill for you," Little John said as he dusted his hands off. "Good work my loyal noblemen! I appreciate the hard work you all have been doing this past week," Robin said as he praised his noblemen. "All in a day's work, Boss!" Little John uttered. Robin gathers his workers around him, "let's take a break and have some drinks before we head home for the day, my treat!" They all make their way to the lounge down the street. Once they get a table, they wind down and allow the stress to depart from them. Little John pops the top of his lager and starts to question Robin. "So, Robin, another baby! And another girl at that! How are you taking it all in?" Robin took a big swig of his beer before he answered, "quite the shocker if you ask me! What can I say other than I'm excited!" "Oh, I bet! I hear daughters are a little harder to deal with than sons but don't let that discourage you! Riley is an angel!" Little John commented. Robin nearly chokes on his beer, "ha! Haha! Okay, you watch her overnight one night and you'll be begging me to take her back!" "She's not that bad now, Robin! I know my little partner in crime is nothing but an angelic soul with a heart of gold." Little John talks up little Riley and Robin can't help but smile, "yeah, I'll have to agree with you on that." Robin's phone rings and he picks it up, "Killian my most trusted…." Robin is stopped by Killian's voice. "Killian…what's wrong? What? Is she okay? Where are the kids? Okay, I'll meet you at the hospital." Robin hangs up the phone and rushes back to the table, "I'm sorry guys, I have to go. Family emergency."
It's 11 AM and Zelena has readied herself and little Ashley for their playdate with Regina and Riley. "Ashley, darling, are you ready for your playtime with Riley? We've got to go." Ashley rounds the corner and has her favorite toy in her hand, "yes mommy, I'm ready!" "Let's go then." They start to make the short walk to the park where they await Regina and Riley. Meanwhile, Regina and Riley are ready for their playdate. Emma pulls out the stroller from the closet while Regina packs a small snack pack for Riley. "Memma! Bye-bye!" Riley shouted. "You want to go to the park, Riley?" Riley jumps up and down in excitement and starts to climb on the stroller. "Hold on there, kid. Let me help you." When Emma gets back up, she has a dizzy spell that nearly makes her sick. She grabs on to the wall for support. "Whoa." Emma stands for a second to gather herself and regain her composure. Riley notices it, "Memma okay?" Emma shakes it off and brings her focus back to Riley, "yes, baby, Memma is fine," she smiles at her. They wait for Regina before they head out the door to the short walk to the park.
Regina, Emma, and Riley arrive at the park where they see Zelena pushing Ashley on a swing. Zelena sees them from afar and goes to greet them. "Hey, guys!" Riley grows anxious as she sees her new best friend Ashley. "Mama…out…pweese." Riley reaches out her arms and Regina pulls her out. "Hold on, Riley wait for mommy." "I'll take her to the swings, so you and Zelena can talk." Emma smiled as she escorted Riley and Ashley to the swings. "Thank you, Emma," Regina said. Zelena also gave her thanks.
"So, Regina, how are you?" Zelena asked.
"I'm great! Just ready for this baby to be born! Can't wait to meet her."
"Aww. Do you have a name yet?"
"No, but Robin and I have been researching."
Zelena and Regina walk toward a bench that is not too far from where Emma and the girls are. They refocus and get lost in conversation.
"So how are you liking Storybrooke?" Regina asked
"Well we have only been here for a week so we haven't made the time to explore it."
"I'll have to show you around! Bring Ashley and Hades with you; and me, Robin and the kids would love to show you guys around. We can think of something to do!" Regina offered.
"Sounds like something we would love to do!"
"Yeah, sure! Just name the time! We have a lake, an amusement park, Robin can give us access to the state park here…" Before Regina continues, Ashley runs toward Zelena screaming, "Momma! Momma!" Regina can hear Riley cry as Ashley continues, "it's Ms. Emma! She's on the ground! She's fell on the ground!" Regina and Zelena turn toward Riley's cries and there they see Emma on the ground. They rush toward her and check on her. "Zelena, call 911!" Regina is looking down at Emma and then reaches for Riley who is crying in hysterics. She tries to calm her, "it's okay, baby. Emma will be okay. Riley, honey, go stand next to Zelena ok? I'm going to check on Emma?" Riley calms down and walks toward Zelena who is on the phone. Regina kneels and checks for a pulse. "Emma, please." Emma has a faint pulse but is still breathing. Regina taps Emma on the side of her face but no response. She starts to grow worried and tears begin to form. "Emma, please, wake up," Regina whispered. She places her hands under Emma's head for support while still checking for breathing.
Zelena walks up to them. "They're on their way, is she still breathing?" Regina shakes her head as tears begin streaming down her face. "Emma!" Zelena shouted. She knelt to Emma. "She's still breathing, that's all that matters."
"Where the hell are, they?" Regina shouted in fear.
"Regina, it's okay. They're coming. You don't want to scare, Riley."
"I'm sorry, it's just. I'm worried."
"I understand." Zelena lays a hand on Regina's shoulder to comfort her.
The ambulance pulls up and the paramedics run to their side. "Do any of you know what exactly happened?" the EMT asked. Regina was too upset to answer when Zelena spoke up, "no, my friend and I were talking to and my daughter ran up to me and said that she just collapsed." The EMT shook his head up and down, "okay, what's her name?" "Emma," Regina said sniffling and wiping tears away. The EMT spoke into his radio, "white female, looks like she's in her mid-30s and is pregnant." He preps Emma, who is still not responding, for transport to the hospital. The paramedic tries to wake her up, "Emma! Can you hear me?" After no response, he administers the IV, "how far along is she in her pregnancy, ma'am?" "She's seven months. Is she going to be okay?" Regina said in controlled sobs. "We're getting there ma'am but you're going to have to let us focus on her." Regina gets up with the help of another EMT. "Ma'am I'm going to need to ask some questions so we can help your friend out, okay?" the female EMT moved her to the bench to get more information; Zelena followed with the girls in tow.
"Okay, what exactly happened?" The EMT pulls out a clipboard and starts to take notes.
"Well, I was talking to my neighbor and her daughter came running to us saying that Emma was on the ground."
"Has she been complaining about anything as far as not feeling good or pains or anything like that?" the EMT began jotting down notes.
Regina shook her head as she wiped away tears, "no. She never said anything to me."
"Has she had any complications in her pregnancy as of now?"
"She is high risk. I think her doctors diagnosed her with pre-clam something? But she hardly talks about it because she says she's alright. She's so stubborn!"
"Preeclampsia. Okay, this is making sense; well we are prepping her for an IV and we are transporting her the hospital. Do you want to follow us there?"
"Is there a way I can ride with her?" Regina asked.
"We may have room for you, I can check." The EMT walks toward the ambulance where they have Emma ready to go. Regina turns around and realizes that she has Riley with her. "Oh my God, I forgot about Riley, I'm going to have to take her to her Godmother's." Zelena chimes in, "no, Regina, I'll watch her for you. Don't worry about her. She has Ashley to play with. Emma needs you." "Zelena, no. I can't…" The paramedic interrupts, "ma'am? Did you still want to ride with us? We have a room but we have to go now!" "Go, Regina. Riley will be fine," Zelena insisted. Regina gave a last request before leaving, "can you do me a favor? Can you call Henry, Killian, and Robin for me? Tell them what happened and to meet us at the hospital. Thank you so much, Zelena." Regina doesn't have time to bid her goodbye as the paramedic rushes her to the back of the ambulance. Riley is left crying but Zelena picks her up and coaxes her while Ashley tries to help. "It's alright darling, your mommy is going to help Emma get better. Let's get you girls home and we will have some ice cream. When they get home, Zelena settles the girls and calls Emma's family to let them know about her.
