Approach the Pit.

Sakura gulped as she stood before the belly of the beast. That is, the entrance to the Pit.

Take a stance of prayer,

Sakura stands in the shallow water. She squeaks, and looks to see a large fish swimming by, having bumped into her ankle. "Ok, ok! Take a breath, Sakura, girl!" She takes in a deep breath and slaps her cheeks a couple times. She recalls her grandmother's orders.

Take a prayer's stance.

Sakura kneels as so.

Be brave, and assert yourself.

"I am here to see the Water Bearer!" Was that assertive enough? "Right now!" There, that should be good.

There is a silence, yet soon the sound of rushing water deeper within the cave resounds. The water pooled around Sakura warms, much to her relief. The water has begun to move faster.

Recall your desire.

"To be with Sasuke -"

Well… that's what she wanted to say. Somewhere inside, at least. However, the proper wish to be made to the Water Bearer is: "I wish to share with the Earth."

She sounds like such a tree-hugger…

For a long while, there is nothing. Sakura eventually drops her hands into her laps, and looks up to glance around. Nothing other than darkness still…

Sakura sighs. Maybe this is why so many people never learned this oh-so-mysterious "kekkai genkai" or whatever of the tribe. Was it even legitimate? Besides…

She probably wouldn't even be able to learn it. Sure, Sakura picks things up rather quickly, but even still, she's not strong enough. It's annoying, and it's unfortunate, but it's also simply true. In fact, she'd dare admit that had it not been for her newfound superpower, Sakura wouldn't have been able to do even half of the things she's done. Her power gives her a boost: a leverage. It's almost like a cheat code. She's like a… fraud, even.

As Sakura reflects on this, she can't help but think of the familiar faces back in the Leaf Village.

Without a doubt, Sasuke is strong. Now, there's a lot of reasons for this. He's a hard worker, and he trains like crazy. He's everything a ninja outta be, having the perfect knowledge in precision, decision making, efficiency and more. Not to mention the fact that he's pretty cool, to boot. But in a sense, despite his terrible past riddled by misfortune, he's also lucky. Certainly not lucky to have what happened to his kind occur, but more so lucky for ever having been born into said community to begin with. In fact, had it been a couple years back, then he would've been held in much higher regard by the village as compared to today. More importantly, he was born with a sharingan. Something like that comes in handy in so many more ways than one would ever imagine.

As for Naruto, well…

Sakura wasn't sure if the Uzumaki clan had any special abilities aside from strong sealing jutsus (that of which she has yet to see Naruto exhibit) -yet even so, Naruto is full of strength, and bubbling with potential that he is sure to take advantage of. No doubt about it, it won't be very long before he becomes much of a powerhouse himself. He has the power of a beast enslaved to his belly, and yet even aside from the demon within him, Sakura knows he's simply got a lot of chakra to spare (even though he's still struggling to properly manage it). Soon, Naruto won't just be strong, but he'll be mighty. And as for Sakura…

"I'm still weak…" She mumbles. "Weak…" the cave echoes back to her.

"Useless…" Sakura begins to reflect on all of her past battles. Even in the ones where she'd done better than usual, simply knowing that it was due to her sudden new ability rather than anything else makes her uncomfortably torn. She still barely knows how to use this ability of hers, so… so if she doesn't figure it out soon, then what will become of her if she's unable to use it right?

"Useless…"

"Pathetic…"

"Pathetic…"

"If only there was someone who could help me…"

"If only there was someone who could save me…"

Sakura gasps and hops to her feet. With her mouth agape, she slowly spins around to watch a single wave of water whipping around her in a wide circle. It shot by again and again and again, and in the echoes of the cave, she heard a voice speaking to her.

"You are weak."

"You are useless…"

"You are pathetic."

"You don't truly want to be a shinobi. You only did to try to get the attention of a guy. "

"I wouldn't feel so assured knowing that a fake shinobi like that was coming to "save" me".

Before Sakura grew a tower of water. It grew and grew until it was at about the same height as Sakura. "Who… Who are you -what are you?!" Sakura screamed. With terrored eyes, she watches the water solidify and mold into a washed out version of herself. Its features are smaller, however, in a more exaggerated kind of way -and it's eyes…

It's eyes were strange; they were almost engulfed in green, and wide white circles served as its "pupils". Its pupils glowed even though there was no strong light coming in. It was somewhat on the bonier side, and its skin was much more pale as compared to Sakura's -pale as a corpse, that is. Coldly, the entity glared at Sakura. Somehow, it had a strange air around it. An intense, uncomfortable air -like the kind ick that one would feel if they stood in a red stained cotton field in the dead of night. It felt like hate.

"You are weak, and useless, and pathetic," It said. "You will never be as powerful as Sasuke. You will never be as capable as Naruto. You will never even dream to reach the levels of Kakashi. He made a mistake in letting you pass, because as you know…" It smiles at Sakura, lifting a hand and channeling a familiar glow into its palm. "You can ride on the success of your teammates for only so long. Soon, it will become too clear to see that you, Sakura, are but a bud rather than a blossom…" It leaps into the air. Hurling itself downwards towards Sakura, it smashes it's heated palm into Sakura. In just a nick of time, Sakura had held up her arms to block. The heated slap burst into a wave of flames and electric bolts upon contact. Sakura flew into the air and then crashed into the water - further than the water, actually! Now wedged into a newly formed crevice in the dirt below the water, Sakura quickly finds herself terrified. Terrified, sure -but feeling a sense of dread. The cloud of doubt was coming back towards her, something that naturally would happen at the worst of times. Cackling, It continues to talk down to Sakura. "Soon, it'll be clear that on her own, Miss Sakura Haruno…" It rubs its hands together, slowly pulling them apart to reveal cackling whips of electrified chakra.

"... will never survive."
