Rebirth of Ares
Deceptions

The five men sat around a conference table in a dark room grinning at each other. They were close to removing a loose end so they could now move on to larger targets. "Evans Industries is pulling ahead in the computer and energy sectors, we need to stop them or acquire what they have" demanded one elderly man.
"We've tried infiltrating and the people we sent in haven't turned up at all. I know a number of spy agencies that have tried to get in and their people have been recovered a day or two later, but ours have disappeared entirely" another complained.
"Do you think they know about us?" a middle aged man asked worriedly.
"Nah, probably just got shot or something, we have nothing to worry about" the elderly man said dismissively from the head of the table.
"It's Britain you idiot, they don't use guns" one retorted back.
"My point still stands, they're probably dead. We will try again once we know Kinsey is dead. We must stop them from denting our profits too much. Our hacking of their computers, how has that gone?"
"Pitifully, whatever firewalls they have it's like another language, in fact some of it looks like the snakes stuff just like what we found in the SGC data files our friends in the NID acquired."
"Do you think they found some Goa'uld tech here on Earth then?"
"Dunno, but something didn't feel right from what my cyber division was able to tell." The man would have said more but a well built, 30 something man stepped into the room wearing a crisp suit.
"Agent Devlin, how'd it go?" asked the elderly man.
"Kinsey's dead" Devln answered simply.
"Are you sure? He was supposed to be dead the first time" the middle aged man seated to the left asked.
"Well, he wasn't wearing a bulletproof vest this time, so yeah, I'm sure. There were a few complications though; I had to engage a few guards."
"Secondary casualties are not our concern. Major Davis can answer for those as well" said a third member from the right side of the table dismissively with a wave of his hand.
"We still have a loose end. They have Dr. Langham in custody" the elderly man retorted.
"That's not important. His accusations will be little more than a minor inconvenience for us. Instead of worrying about him, I suggest we use the mimic devices to eliminate another thorn in our side" the third replied.
"Someone at the SGC?" Devlin asked curiously.
"Yes, General Hammond. Once he's out of the way, we can replace him with someone more…sympathetic to our concerns" the third said with a smirk.
"If they know about the devices, they'll be prepared for something like this" Devlin said cautiously.
The middle aged man nodded in agreement, "Devlin's right. Besides, now that Kinsey's dead we have other options, like focusing on Evans Industries, we need them dealt with. They are becoming too powerful and show signs of potentially aiding the SGC with their power generators and computers."
The elderly man hummed in contemplation for a moment before speaking. "I think it's time we sent someone to talk to Hammond. Get him to reconsider those retirement plans."
"He doesn't seem like the type to bow to outside pressure" the middle aged man retorted.
"Well then, we're going to have to be very convincing" a fourth man said with a grin.
"Fine, we'll try your way. Agent Devlin, I would like you to pay General Hammond a visit. Impress upon him our…concerns for the safety and well-being of his family" the middle aged man commanded.
"And if he still refuses to play ball?"
The third man learnt forward. "Then kill him." Devlin nods, but then his shape seems to morph and blur before switching back and forth between Carter and Devlin. The Committee members watch in shock.
"What is this?!" the elderly man says in confusion. Devlin's image soon disappears completely, leaving Major Carter standing there before them in his place. Carter looks at them and smiles.
"General Hammond sends his regards." At that signal the doors burst open and several heavily armed men and a slim tall man with short hair and a dark suit storm in.
"All right, get your hands up. Come on, get 'em up!" the man says as the soldiers move in on the men around the table. Carter plucks off a mimic device from her shirt which was hidden under her white jacket. The Committee members all slowly and reluctantly put their hands in the air. Sufficiently covered by others, the man in a suit re-holsters his weapon. Carter looks at her watch. "Wow it lasted six and a half minutes, that's a new record" she exclaimed with a grin. The committee men were marched out of the room grumbling the whole time or walked in silence while glaring at Carter.
February 2003
Jack was walking through the base like he had many times, sauntering through while currently off duty. He approached an elevator on level 19 and swiped his ID card to enter it. He turned to the lift buttons, inserted his ID card and selected the one for level 28. A few seconds into his ride down to the main SGC levels the lift jolted to a stop and the lights dimmed. He sighed and picked up the call phone on the wall. "Hello? This is Co...Hello?"
"Jack?" O'Neill put the phone to his ear again thinking he heard something. "Jack. Hi Jack." O'Neill looked sceptical as he turned around to see Daniel, giving him a quick look over Jack saw he was wearing the sort of desert clothes the people of Abydos wore. Daniel gives him a little wave and a smile. "Jack, Abydos is in trouble. Anubis is on his way. He's after the Eye of Ra. I have that replica Catherine gave me, it looks like this." Daniel held up the golden Eye of Ra medallion, given to him years ago, for Jack to see. "Now, I'm pretty sure the real one is located in some secret chamber in Ra's pyramid on Abydos but I'm not sure where exactly. Although now I think of it Ares might have it, I can't remember, too much is in my head to focus on, perk of being an ascended I guess. Anyway, according to legend there were six Eyes including those held by Apophis, Osiris and Tiamat among others. Each is powerful on its own but to use them in combination increases that power ten fold. Recently, Anubis has managed to track down two of the six Eyes and is hunting desperately for the others. He's currently looking for Ra's and he's looked everywhere Ra used to hang out except Abydos. Now he's on his way there. One benefit for us though is that he has come into conflict with Ares for going through his space." Jack still looked bemused and turned to place the handset back on its rest.
"I'm sure that was an aspirin I took this morning" Jack says disbelievingly.
"Jack, it's really me. It's me, you have to help, you have to find the Eye of Ra before Anubis does. Keep it, hide it, destroy it, whatever, it doesn't matter, we don't have much time."
"Hey Daniel, how you doing? Long time. How are things on the higher planes?" Daniel turns away from O'Neill, grimaces for a moment and then turns back.
"Hey Jack, long time no see. H…h…how you doing?" Daniel says with a false smile knowing he'd have to play along with his friend if he wanted to get anywhere.
"Fine, just fine" Jack replies modestly.
"The knees? The back? Everything's…" Daniel trails off.
"Oh you know, kind of weather contingent actually" Jack says nonchalantly.
"Right, right, right, so, what's new?"
"Uhm…actually a funny thing happened to me, today. I'm riding an elevator and an old friend of mine, someone who never calls, never writes…" Daniel rolls his eyes at Jack's words. "Just shows up and tells me all about this very important and apparently urgent mission that may need my attention."
"You gonna help, or, or…" Daniels asks leadingly.
"No, wait, wait! Let me tell it, it's good. You see this buddy of mine, this pal, this chum has…ascended to a whole new level of existence. Do you see the irony? He's asking for my help and he's this great and powerful being" Jack says very much both annoyed and bemused by it all.
"Jack, we've already been through this, I can't actually do anything."
"See, I'm still not clear on that."
"The Others have rules; just talking to you is a violation" Daniel replies firmly.
"What like jay walking, double parking, what?"
"The point is, taking action that changes human existence, that's a big one."
"Let me ask you this. Have you met any of these Other guys?" he asks curiously.
"No" replies Daniel sullenly.
"Well then, how do you know they're any kind of a threat?"
"Oh good, that's, that's a good one. As it is, Oma's an outcast because she believes that helping people ascend is our duty."
"And that's…okay?"
"Technically, no. But she does it anyway. Those of us that follow her are walking a very fine line."
"Why don't they try to stop her?"
"I don't know."
"You don't know?" Jack says incredulously.
"No I don't know. All I know is what Oma has taught me. Ascension doesn't make you all knowing or all powerful. It is just the beginning of the journey. The point is, if I were to help you, if I were to take any action to help you, Oma would step in and stop me herself to avoid drawing the wrath of the Others. If they wanted to, they could stop everything she's been trying to do for a long, long time." The lights switch back on and the lift begins to move. "I can't jeopardise that" Daniel finishes before vanishes when Jack's back was turned.
"Doh" Jack says upon realising he's alone in the lift again.
A short while later in the meeting room General Hammond and SG1 were discussing Daniel's visit and warning. "Obviously, we can't match forces with Anubis but apparently the Abydonians are willing to back us on this one and we may be able to finagle Ares into helping" Jack was saying as he walked around the room.
"Colonel, how'd you come by this intel?" Hammond asked curiously, after all there had been no gate activity today.
Jack coughed and looked down, "I er didn't say?"
"No, you didn't."
Jack clears his throat again before replying, "Daniel told me." Carter and Jonas look surprised at the news. Teal'c raised an eyebrow while Hammond looks on.
"You saw Doctor Jackson?" Jonas questioned.
Jack looks down again. "Actually, it's not the first time." Teal'c looked unsettled by O'Neill's news.
"Is he all right?" Sam asks with concern for her friend.
"What else did he say?" Hammond asked.
"Whoa, wait. You guys don't think I'm nuts…or anything…like that?" Jack says with surprise.
"I too have recently seen Daniel Jackson" Teal'c said firmly to Jack's surprise.
"Really?" Sam says with a hint of sadness at being left out.
"Why didn't you say something?" Jack asked.
"Why did you not?" Teal'c returned simply.
"Well to be honest, I wasn't quite sure it was really happening the first time."
"Neither was I."
Jonas interrupted the moment by leading them back to the point of the meeting. "Did he tell you where we could find the Eye?"
"Uh, he doesn't know" Jack answered despondently.
"He doesn't know?" Sam said in surprise.
"I know! Personally I think this whole ascension thing is a bit overrated" Jack commented.
Hammond sighed thinking on what he'd heard. "Well that's good enough for me, Colonel. If Dr. Jackson is right, we have to find that Eye before Anubis does."
"Did Ares not already possess such a device?" Teal'c said.
"Hmm he's not wrong sirs we know Ares collected four of these Eyes, are we sure about which ones he picked up?" Sam said. The group looked at each other speculatively.
"We'd still need to go regardless to make sure it's empty and to keep the Abydosians safe" Jack suggested.
"I'll send a message to Ares informing him of what is occurring. Anubis is already proving difficult with his upgraded ships as you reported from the engagement with the Asgard, and since then we know he's begun raids on a number of planets on top of being difficult with the aforementioned Asgard. If we can get Ares to attack him we might stand a chance against this rogue Goa'uld." SG1 nodded in agreement at Hammond's appraisal. "Alright Colonel O'Neill, you and SG1 have a go. Godspeed."
Areya
James was annoyed. He'd tracked Anubis from planet to planet within Ra's old domain and he couldn't help but feel Anubis was searching for something. There'd been reports of attacks on one of Ba'al's worlds along with one of Morrigan's along with a few elsewhere. Nothing added up but something was niggling at the back of his mind. A warning that was close to blaring loudly. A Jaffa came in to his office spaces and bowed before him. "My lord a message from the Tau'ri."
"What is it they have to say?"
"It's a live broadcast my lord, they wish to speak with you."
"Have it routed here, I will speak with them myself" the Jaffa nodded, bowed a gain and left. James called up his communications area and connected to the signal from Earth. "This is Ares, what is it I can do for you?"
"Ares, we have a situation with Anubis, apparently he's going after the Eye of Ra and we wanted to give you the heads up, he's got two so far and we know you recovered others but we weren't sure of which ones. He's going to be at Abydos shortly looking for the one Ra had." James then started cursing and swearing upon realising just what the raids had been, distractions for getting Ba'al's and Balor's Eyes. The searching within Ra's domain was for the Eye of Ra, an Eye he already had along with the other three. Well this will make the confrontation interesting, four eyes versus two. "Given your reaction I'm guessing you know what I'm on about" Hammond commented.
"Indeed General, I have the Eye Anubis seeks along with three others making four of the six. He has raided the locations of the remaining two along with raids on countless worlds. I am close to declaring war on him for these rogue actions. What is it you seek of me then?"
"Confirmation mostly which you have just given. Perhaps you could destroy Anubis' mothership?"
"I will consider it General. For now I have much to think on."
"Of course, Stargate Command out" and the signal cut leaving James alone with his thoughts and worries.
Abydos
Jack and the rest of SG1 stepped through the gate to see Skaara and another young man meeting them in the Egyptian style pyramid. "Skaara!" Jack called in greeting. The young boy, man now really, smiled and gave a hug.
"O'Neill, welcome. Major Carter, Teal'c and..?"
"Hi I'm Jonas Quinn. I...replaced Doctor Jackson when he died and have been helping the team for the past year or so."
"Welcome to you as well then."
"Any sign of Anubis?" Jack asked straight to the point.
"No and we have found no sign of the Eye. Though we have found a section of catacombs where it is mentioned a few times plus an area that has been searched but it appears old.." he trailed off at the unhappy news.
"Teal'c, go set up a perimeter, I want to know ASAP if Anubis shows his ugly face." Teal'c nodded and left with the other Abydosian. "Skaara lead the way to this catacomb thingy." The group moved off deeper into the temple led by Skaara who held a flaming torch while the lights from their P-90s pierced into the darkness. They went down a series of steps before eventually coming to an outer chamber with hieroglyphs and pictograms on the wall, sand covered the floor. And there in the middle of the wall furthest from the steps was a doorway leading into another chamber this one however had the appearance of having been thoroughly searched, a few trinkets still lay on the ground covered partially by sand, and a hole about waist height on a shelf was quickly spotted indicating where a false wall had been. "Well it looks like we're a bit late. Someone seems to have searched this place, they've taken everything by the looks of it and even checked for false walls. They were good whoever they were. Skaara you sure you know of no one coming here?"
"No O'Neill, we knew nothing of anything down here until you asked us to look. The gate has been watched yes but while we keep a close eye on it we haven't been consistent. We have had other things to do or lacked numbers spare to keep watch. I'm sorry I failed you."
"No worries kid, I think we know who took it and he would've left you alone anyway. No we need to worry about Anubis now. Hopefully we can get him to leave you alone since it's not here but I'm not hopeful."
"O'Neill" came a voice over the radio.
"What's up T?"
"We are under attack! Ground forces have landed. We will not be able to hold them off for long." Silence over the group in the temple at the ominous news. They then felt the ground vibrate slightly and dust fell from the ceiling as well as now hearing dull thuds from far away. They knew then that bombing runs must have been conducted against Teal'c and his band of resistance fighters. They gave the rooms another quick once over and then returned to the gate room.
"So what now?" Jack asked his team.
"I'm not sure what to tell you Colonel, maybe Daniel could give us a clue if he was here?" Jonas suggested.
"Oh he's here, trust me. Son of a…Hey! Where are you? We're only doing this because of you, you got some great plan?" A faint woosh was felt by the four and they turned and saw Daniel standing there in his desert clothes.
"Jack, it's not here is it?" he asked sadly.
"No its not, so why are we here?"
"Because the people of Abydos could still be attacked if Anubis finds it gone and he'll want to know who took it which no one here knows. Even you and the SGC are only guessing that Ares has it." The sound of the battle raging above came be heard faintly down in the silent catacombs. Jack points towards the roof, "you hear that?"
"I can't do anything about that, you know that" Daniel answered sadly.
"I don't care. Do something or we walk. Right now."
"Remember that fine line we were talking about?"
"Cross it." Daniel turns away, nodding slowly and sighs.
"Okay" he says quietly. "Well what I am suggesting is you fake finding it, I can give you a fake which will convince Jaffa and you fall back down here to buy time while I tell Ares to come here, I thought maybe to have those two duke it out as we escape. Hopefully Ares will win and he'd likely leave Abydos alone."
Jack nodded, a contemplative look on his face. "Could work, would Anubis fall for it?"
"He's desperate Jack. Desperate and angry because he's looked everywhere and only found two when five should have been easy to get. This should have been his last to acquire but it's not."
"Ok maybe we can work with that." Jack grabs his radio and tells Teal'c to fall back to the gate room. When he turns to look at Daniel he sees that he's gone as if he was never there.
Up in space Anubis sat on his flagship silently fuming. His search had not gone as easily as he had foreseen. The Eyes, the keys to his super-weapon, had not been where they should. He'd taken Ba'al's and Balor's but Apophis', Tiamat's and Osiris's had not been where they should have been, the locations in question looking searched already. But no one should know what the Eyes were, no one. Ra had thought them mere trinkets or weak power boosters while most had believed them a myth. So who had the other three? He needed Ra's to balance out whoever had the other three. If they had Ra's too…No it was best to consider it would soon be three each. But the humans of the Tau'ri were here somehow, much to his annoyance, costing him Jaffa and wasting his valuable time. He was brought out from his thoughts as Herak came in to his throne room. "My Lord. Humans from Earth and the one named O'Neill have found the Eye of Ra. We have them trapped. But he says if we do not grant them free passage he will destroy the Eye." Anubis silently fumed. Curses, could nothing go right.
Anubis looked at the Jaffa sternly. "He will give you the Eye of Ra or I will destroy Abydos."
"Yes my Lord." Herak bowed then turned and left, heading for the ring room.
"You won't touch Abydos" a voice called from the other side of the room. Anubis turned to look at where the voice had come from.
"And how will you stop me?"
"I can. And I will, if one more person down there is hurt" he said confidently. Anubis mentally snorted at this fool's attempts to threaten him.
"You can do nothing but stand there and utter empty threats because I know what you are."
"If you know what I am, you know very well I can wipe you from existence" he threatened.
"I know who you are Daniel Jackson, but you know not of who I am." And with that Anubis dropped his face guard to show his incorporeal self, a taste of his true power. Daniel looked aghast and backed off. "With a wave of my hand, I will bombard the surface. You can try and stop me if you choose."
"What makes you think I won't?" he dared.
"Your words mean nothing. Take action if you dare." Daniel walked towards the viewing screen where fifteen Ha'tak motherships could be seen exiting hyperspace. Daniel turned back to Anubis with a small grin. "Maybe I won't have to."
"My lord, ships exiting hyperspace" called a Jaffa and Anubis could see the fleet of ships appearing and then surrounding him, chief among them the flagship of Ares. That accursed Goa'uld, he had taken his rightful place as Supreme System Lord, he would pay for it. It was his sensor scans that caused him a moment of pause though. All fifteen Ha'taks before him read the same, they read of Ancient inspired upgrades. Upgrades almost on par with his own Ha'taks. This worried him as no other should know of the Ancients and their technology like him. He quickly scanned the flagship and the saw just what it possessed, making him shiver in fear momentarily. Plasma beam weapons, energy cannons made in the Ancients style along with improved staff cannons and to top it off, its shields read as pure Ancient in design, vastly superior to any Goa'uld made shield and superior even to his own which was Goa'uld but with some Ancient tinkering. If he could gulp still he would as that was not a ship to be trifled with. "My lord a signal from the opposing fleet" came the call from the Jaffa. Anubis would have ground his teeth in silent fury if he was solid enough.
"Display it" he spat out and on the screen before him came the view of Ares sitting casually upon his own marble throne.
"Anubis, what brings you into my territory again? Have I not destroyed enough of your ships for you to learn not to enter my domain?" Ares said with a smirk.
"It matters not, I have what I wanted and I shall leave here with it."
"You think that I will allow another incursion to go without challenge?" he returned with a raised brow. Anubis fumed some more, if he had more of the Eyes he could fight them off but with their upgrades and that flagship he daren't start a fight right now.
"I can still destroy your petty fleet Ares, do not waste my time" Anubis bluffed. Ares laughed at him. Laughed, how dare he.
"You seem to be under the delusion you can beat me Anubis. Your Al'kesh is returning to your ship, once they have boarded we shall see if you still feel that way." The channel went dead with that proclamation leaving Anubis to growl in anger.
"You won't survive that many motherships" Daniel said smugly.
"They are not attacking because they fear me" Anubis retorted but even he felt that was a weak argument seeing the ships against him.
"Maybe. Maybe I'll tell them you don't have the Eyes, and they can beat you if they strike now."
"Do you know that for a fact?"
"Yes, since you don't have the Eye of Ra and only have two of them."
"I will recover the others and then no one will dare challenge me."
"Doubtful" Daniel said and disappeared in a cloud of white leaving Anubis to ponder his next moves carefully.
On his flagship James was pondering himself. He spotted a faint glow of white out of the corner of his eye and saw Daniel standing there. "Hello again. What can I do for you Doctor Jackson?"
"Will you protect Abydos?"
"I have no interest in the planet below. It has nothing to fear from me."
"Anubis only has two of the Eyes but I bet you knew that since you have four yourself."
"Indeed I do" James said with a smirk. "What do you propose?"
"Anubis wants the Eye of Ra, attack now before his troops kill any more, you can deploy your own troops and gliders to finish off his. Strike now and make sure to let SG1 leave and not to shoot the Abydosians."
"How about I wait until he realises that the Eye is no longer there? I want to see the pure and unadulterated fear in his eye when he realises just what this ship is to him" James said evilly. Daniel sighed knowing he'd probably not get anything better and disappeared again.
A short while later Anubis saw Herak return. "Did you get it?" he asked impatiently
"My lord, all they handed over was this and I returned on the Al'kesh" he said bowing to him. He held out a red crystal that was circular and about the size of his hand. When Anubis touched it though, he immediately knew it was not it. "You fool!" he shouted and threw the red gem to the ground where it smashed into tiny pieces. "This is not the Eye. It's a fake!" he hissed out. "Destroy the planet below for their treachery!"
"Stop!" Daniel shouts as he appears in the doorway, quickly approaching Anubis. Herak grabs his staff weapon and fires on Daniel but the shot passes through him as if he was a ghost.
"Stop me, if you can" Anubis crows smugly. Herak knelt down behind them at this clash of the gods. Daniel raised his hands, within which appeared glowing white orbs which began gathering in light as they grew brighter and larger.
"Strike me down. Do it now or I will destroy Abydos" he gloated, egging Daniel on. Daniel raised his hands and began to blast the energy he had gathered towards Anubis. Suddenly the energy froze midway and was blown back as Anubis raised his hands as if to defend himself. Herak cowered on the floor behind them barely watching this battle.
"No! Don't do this!" Daniel gasped out as he tried to resist the pull he felt upon him. He struggles for a few more seconds before he is finally spirited away leaving the room silent apart from the quite humming of the various machines and ship engines. Herak looks up, fright written upon his face.
"You are indeed all powerful my Lord" he says shakily but proudly.
"What you just saw was not my doing. However, this is" Anubis answered angrily and he began firing his heavy staff weapons upon the planet below. Before he could fire more than a few shots however his ship is rocked violently, shaking the room and knocking Herak back to the ground. Anubis looked to his sensors and spotted the fleet of Ha'taks had begun firing upon him. He then looked at the flagship of Ares and saw its power reading begin to spike dramatically.
"My lord, a transmission from Lord Ares" Herak calls out now standing at his post.
"Anubis, did you think I would allow you to level one of my worlds? You dare?! Consider this a declaration of war, a war you will loose. Oh and by the way, say hello to the power of four Eyes" he finished with a smirk before ending the signal. Anubis stared as the power readings kept climbing on the flagship, now forty fold on what it was before as the four Eyes came online. Once it settled he was staggered at the power beheld by the vessel wishing it was his that had the power.
"Retreat" he commands bitterly.
"My lord?" Herak asked, eyes blinking in confusion.
"Withdraw us now" Anubis calls quickly, starting to get desperate. Without all the Eyes his super weapon would not fire, in fact with only two it would barely twitch. The ship continued to shake and then there were two violent explosions which shook the ship badly.
Outside James watched as the two beams impacted and shredded Anubis' shields in two locations. The rest of his fleet was pounding away at the shields as they tried to wear them down. "Target his hyperdrives and main weapons. I want it crippled" he commanded to a chorus of 'Ayes'. The flagship of Anubis shook repeatedly as his fleet assaulted it and attempted to penetrate its shields, of which so far only his plasma beams had had success although they had the power of the Eyes behind them. Anubis' ship began moving way from the planet, attempting to escape its entrapment and the circle of ships that continued their relentless fire upon it. "My lord its shields are weakening" came the weapons controller and as James watched he could see more gaps in the shields appear where staff weapons began to impact the hull tearing away panels of metal and burning through into other parts of the ship. The Achilles hummed with power as the four Eyes boosted his various weapons' rate of fire and the force behind each blast. Then it all came to a rather anticlimactic end. The shields of Anubis' ship eventually collapsed completely under twenty minutes of tireless bombardment by 15 upgraded Ha'taks and the plasma beams of the Achilles. As the shields fell a small portion of the flagship was seemingly jettisoned away from the top of the main part of the ship and quickly sped away from the battle. "My lord an escape craft of some sort has departed from the mothership, orders?" Honeric asked.
"Try and shoot it down, prepare boarding parties for the mothership, I want it secured and searched."
"As you command my lord" he replied and went off to organise assault squads to board the ship.
The small escape ship dodged shots fired at it and jumped to hyperspace leaving the battle behind and the flagship to its fate. With the shields down and hyperdrive disabled, boarding parties made their way quickly across through the use of transport rings and their complement Al'kesh and Tel'taks. Resistance was stiff at first, fighting bloody deck by deck, section by section skirmishes but eventually after almost an hour the Jaffa remnants eventually surrendered. The surviving Anubis Jaffa were herded into a number of cargo bays and placed under heavy guard allowing James to march through the ship unchallenged as he headed for the power core where he hoped to find the last two Eyes. Upon arrival he found a lot of debris from the battle and the skirmishes on board littering the room. A few Jaffa lay dead from staff weapons fire while a Goa'uld in the service of Anubis lay under a support beam, blood having pooled under him and his neck was pointing at an odd angle. Scouring the room he eventually came across a large socket like object mounted on the wall in a shelf like manner which was divided into six sections, within which two crystals sat. "The last two" he whispered reverently, gently picking them up to feel the faint sense of power given off by them. He pocket them within his armour and left the room heading for the Peltak. When he got there he found Honeric looking over various consoles checking power readings and the like. "Report" James called out. Honeric turned and knelt before him.
"My lord, the ship is secure and we have begun an initial survey for possible recovery if that is your wish." The thought of capturing the ship to use as a potential flagship and to spite Anubis was interesting but he found that the Achilles was preferable and in a way more powerful despite the rumours of a super weapon onboard this vessel which he felt was wasteful in its use of the Eyes.
"I will consider it, what is the state of our ground forces?" While the boarding action had been carried out a number of gliders and Jaffa had landed near the temple to deal with Anubis' Jaffa, though most had already returned to the ship beforehand.
"A few remained my lord, they appeared to be in the process of withdrawing to the ship when we attacked. The humans of Earth remain though, what shall be done with them?"
"Let them go, we shall honour our agreement." He paused to think more on it. "Wait, bring them up here. Begin making copies of everything in Anubis' database, it doesn't matter if it is encoded just copy the database we can investigate it later. Have the ship fixed slightly, priority to the hyperdrive and the systems needed for navigation. I will aid slightly in this, go bring the humans aboard." Honeric looked on for a moment in confusion before bowing and leaving to issue orders. James made his way to a control console and began looking over its systems for viruses and recall measures. Finding five of them and removing them took around two hours and by then SG1 had appeared. "Nice digs, bit of a fixer upper isn't it though?" came the witty remark of Jack O'Neill. James turned to see the four people before him and two Jaffa behind them.
"Leave us" he commanded to the Jaffa who bowed then left. "Indeed it is a fixer upper as you say Colonel, however it will be yours to fix." The group just stared at him in shock and surprise though it looked like Carter was slightly drooling at the thought of looking at this ship. "Before you get too excited, the super weapon is currently in the process of being dismantled, further than what damage was done in the battle and the Eyes have been removed."
"It can't see then?" came Jack's reply. James just sighed and he saw Carter roll her eyes.
"Its sensors will work fine once fixed Colonel. The only things we are repairing though are the hyperdrive and things related to navigation. You will have to learn and repair what is left."
"So just to be clear, you're giving us this ship?" Jack asked for clarity.
"More or less, less a super weapon and a few viruses, but more intact than it could have been. You still have to fix it and fly it. Well try and fly it wherever you want it to go as I doubt you'll want to keep it around Abydos." They looked at him in amazement for a second time, it finally sinking in that they could have a large and very capable ship to fight the Goa'uld.
"What are its capabilities?" Sam asked, clearly trying to get an idea of how it compares to a Ha'tak.
"It is 2,000 meters long, mine is 1,900 for comparison and a Ha'tak is 700 meters. It has numerous upgraded staff cannons, upgraded Goa'uld shields, both done using knowledge from the Ancients, and also an upgraded hyperdrive. It's an interstellar model so not quite up to Asgard standards but still faster than many. I'm sure it will suffice for you."
"Carter?" Jack prompted at Sam's stunned expression.
"Er sir well this ship is just...wow. It's so much better than the Ha'tak we have. The shields and weapons alone mean this should have taken a whole fleet to damage it, how many ships did you have?"
"15 upgraded Ha'taks plus my flagship which had four Eyes installed. Combined it was more than enough firepower to breach its shields. Plus you have to remember he only had two of the six Eyes, so it wasn't at full strength. But yes, likely you would have needed anywhere from 20 to 30 Ha'taks to do any real damage." Sam nodded in agreement.
"Yeah from what I've heard that would probably do it. Colonel this ship would trounce any other Goa'uld, and the technology and intelligence we could gain, we need it sir."
"Alright alright you sold it to me with big honking space guns and strong shields. I'll have Hammond send a few more soldiers and scientists to come lend a hand and we'll take this baby to...er...well, some place safe. And I'm not lending it to the Tok'ra, we still haven't got Cronus' back yet after they asked to borrow it" Jack whined. James just raise a brow at that.
"Very well then, upon finishing repair to the hyperdrive my people will depart. We have begun moving the prisoners to the planet below to sent through the gate. Some will be taken on my ships but I felt it best to send some away now before they got ideas. I bid you and your team farewell as I return to my ship. I'm sure you can figure out how to call me if you need anything before we go." With that James nodded to them and took his leave escorted by the Jaffa outside to a ring room and returned to his ship.
Upon arrival James walked along the corridors of his ship. It faintly hummed with power from the Eyes even though they'd been powered down so as to not over use them. He headed down towards the power room where he turned to face his own interface designed for the Eyes. He brought out the last two and placed them, one by one, into their slots. When the last was inserted the six glowed brightly, almost flashing, before dimming and reverting to their inert state. All six, now Anubis will not stand a chance and Earth will be safe once more.
AN: So I hope you liked this chapter, Anubis gets his arse kicked and is forced to abandon ship and the Eyes as its implied in the series that they're located in a separate room so if he is trying to flee he won't have time to retrieve them. Also with his own flagship why would he want Anubis' hence why he copies the database and gives the ship to Earth after they lost their own mothership to the Tok'ra as I can imagine they would have asked for it even without Apophis turning up. Hope you're enjoying it so far and stay safe out there with the virus around. J signing off.
