Summary: 8 Years after Bell Cranel becomes an adventurer, everything he has built as well as love has fallen after the mysterious awakening across the globe. As a final resort he managed to travel back in time to right before he started his march to the great city of Orario to become an adventurer. Follow Bell Cranel as he fights for a future where everything that he holds dear may survive and faces supposedly impossible odds to achieve his goals.
A/N: I am terribly sorry for the late release. Some personal Business took longer than expected to handle as well as I had to prioritize studying for the Finals. Anyway, as a side note, I won't be releasing a chapter one Wednesday for that reason. The finals will take up to much of my time, so I will continue once they are finished. 16: Escalating Events
Bell's POV
=Hostess of Fertility=
We finally arrived in Orario at 3 PM. The War Game ended within an hour and a half. The first location we headed to was the Hostess of Fertility to drop off Ryuu and celebrate a little bit alongside Welf. Even some people from the Takemikazuchi and Miach familia were joining in.
We walked into the lively bar which I could even hear from outside that they were talking mostly about the war game. Once we entered the entire bar went silent, before spontaneously combusted in loud cheers and congratulations. I smiled, I haven't had this kind of welcome in a long time. Back when we were running from the Kyros, there was no time for it as well as we were unable to do it since they are extremely sensitive to sound so a warm loud welcoming would completely give our position away.
Although it seems that sound could be a weakness to them, the annoying part is that they could willingly change their sensitivity to it, causing any sound based attacks to become useless.
"Welcome back Bell-san! Congratulations on your incredible victory!" I smiled at Syr's welcoming voice
"Thank you Syr. I was wondering, has Kami-sama come back here yet to meet us? We agreed to meet here once we returned" She nodded
"Yes, she's upstairs. Um… by any chance are you going to update your status?" I looked at her for a single moment before nodding.
"Good luck then! I hope for something good to happen!" I thanked her as I headed up to the room we had rented for a couple of days now. I opened the door to find Hestia sitting on the bed, smirking with a needle in hand. She was waiting, seriously, she knew that I was going to update my status as soon as I could.
Hestia patted the bed, and I laid down as usual as she got to work. I could hear some confused voices from her, from my experiences, she only made these noises when something she has never seen pops up in my status, so I wonder what it is.
"Alright, Bell-kun, I'm done! You can Level Up!" I sat up and noticed the lack of a paper.
"Nice, Kami-sama… wait, where is the status sheet?" She looked at me before making a face as if she remembered something.
"Right, last time you leveled up you only had luck as a choice for the development ability. On the other hand, this time around I'm not doing a sheet since before I level you up I want you to choose one of the three that you've got as possibilities" I understood now, I must have gotten some unheard of development abilities in order for her to have that reaction. I nodded as she opened her mouth.
"The choices you have are as follows, Hunter, which increases the effectiveness of your attacks against monsters you've already fought. Rush, which seems like a development ability that increases your movement speed while running towards enemies" So basically the opposite of Escape "and lastly, you have Universal Resistance, which I have never heard of and the description only reads 'Increased resistance from all sources'. So which one do you want, Bell-kun?"
Hm, Hunter and Rush sounds pretty good, all of them help me kill the monsters faster. Although I already have enough of that, so far it seems as if the Skills from my previous timeline are leaking over to this one. Every one of the ones I've got so far are identical from before, so I will eventually get Focus which will help me basically make me an unstoppable killing machine.
Then there is Universal Resistance. It was one of my choices as I leveled up to level 12, it is the ultimate resistance development ability and can only be unlocked after level 10, so seeing it here now, means that the skills and development abilities, whether if I had them or didn't choose them, are leaking over to this timeline. It would honestly be a waste to not get it since Hunter and Rush I could easily get any time. I already continuously kill so many monsters that I can almost get 'hunter' at every level up.
"Kami-sama, I will choose Universal Resistance since it's one of my weak points, I barely have any defense and my endurance is the only defense I have and it's my weakest stat. Having Universal resistance would help me tremendously" Hestia nodded as she pricked herself once again and started updating my status. Once she was done she put the sheet on my back and copied it before giving it to me.

I actually reached X in agility, this means that since I just leveled up to level 3 and every level gives a boost of 1000 points, I have a total of… 5612 points in agility! An average level 4 has around 5500 points in Agility, this means I am moving above my level at this point. Honestly, I'm happy about it but also creeped out, my stats have never risen as fast as they are doing now. Previously I believed that after 1500 points, I grew like a normal adventurer but I can just throw that out the window now. Does this also mean I can go higher than 2500?
I was brought out of my thoughts at the door opening to reveal Welf, smiling at us.
"Did you just update your status man? Any good?" I smiled at him.
"Yep, Welf, You're looking at Orarios newest level 3" Welf's eyes looked like they would explode.
"DUDE! HOW FAST DO YOU GROW?" I smirked
"Faster than you can comprehend" Welf waved his hands in the air in an exasperated manner.
"Anyway man, Let's get downstairs and celebrate the great news!" I nodded as I headed downstairs into the celebrations
Bell's POV
=Dungeon Entrance, After visiting the guild=
"Man, it feels like forever since we entered the dungeon together. The damn War Game held you guys up so I had to solo it" Welf made a sad expression as Lili butted back at him, I looked back and saw the entertainment district tower. I felt a wave of sadness run through me. Haruhime was probably sitting in a brothel right now, waiting for her death.
No reason dwelling over it. I can't just barge in there and grab her. Also, they won't get their hands on a Killing stone for another month or two, so she's safe for now.
"BELL!" I jumped away in response to the scream
"What happened Bell, you were gone like you were in a trance?" Was I really that gone in thought?
"Sorry Lili, how about we head inside. Let our goal be the 19th floor today"
Lili and Welf looked at me weirdly "Dude, seriously, we are level 1. Going to the first half of the middle floors is already a stretch, but going down to the second half?"
"Welf, Don't worry. Right now, i'm fighting higher than my level" Welf and Lili just stared at me again
"What are you talking about Bell? A person higher than your level is always stronger than you"
"Not necessarily. What if a person exceeds the boost of the level? What if a person has enough points between levels to be more powerful than a normal adventurer that level?"
"Well, then it may be possible but you have only leveled up 2 times. You can't be more powerful than your level" I smirked
"Well, what if I told you my stats in each level… was beyond S" I prepared myself, just wait for it
"HUH! WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?" I still winced, thankfully no one was around.
"Well, let's just say that i'm growing faster than normally, and because I grow so fast, my stats overshoot the supposed limit allowing me to outclass people above my level" Lili and Welf just seemed confused and decided to chuck it up as if I was insane
"Yeah right man, Like that is even possible" I sighed, maybe it was for the better that they don't know since my growth alone could shake the very foundations of Orario. An adventurer that is more powerful normally than an adventurer that is a higher level. It sounds utterly absurd.
"Anyways let's just get down there. I already told Kami-sama that we will be gone longer than a day probably since it takes around half a day to get to the 18th" Welf and Lili nodded as we set our goals on the 19th floor.
Bell's POV
=Floor 18=
"Man, nothing is interesting in the middle levels anymore, Bell just destroys everything before we even move!" I laughed as I scratched the back of my neck. Maybe I am overdoing it, after all, Welf and Lili still need some experience themselves if they are going to stand a chance in 6 years.
"Sorry, I will try to let you guys handle some of them since you also need the experience" Both of them glanced at me in annoyance.
"Yeah, seriously man, I still need to get to level 2" I turned my head away from them and looked at the entrance to the 19th floor at the central big tree. I pulled out my Dungeon Guide and was positively happy with the 18th floor entry, before scribbling down the beginning of the second part of the middle floors, floor 19-24.
Dungeon Guide
Floor 18:
General Information: The floor is the first safe zone in the dungeon with the next being the 50th floor. This floor has a circular structure with one large forest covering the entire floor. It's vegetation is able to support life allowing any race to survive down here. Unlike the rest of the dungeon, the 18th floor is bright with a multitude of colors. This is because of the crystals around the floor glowing in different color schemes and the roof which is filled with them. At the center is one humongous tree with the stairway to the 19th at its center.
Floor usage: This floor is best used to recuperate your stamina as well as look for food since the vegetation has many delicacies. Some adventurers even live here in the town that was built called Rivera.
Warning: Monster can still come from the floors under and above so always be on guard.
I put down the dungeon guide and headed started heading down with Lili and Welf to the 19th floor, waiting for their reaction to see a new world
We walked towards the light at the end of the staircase to reveal a floor filled with vegetation to the brim. The walls and roof looked like they were made of wood creating the feeling of being inside a tree. The floor was luminescent with glowing moss hanging around creating a blue atmosphere. The floor also generally smelled with a nice forestry aroma alongside some sweet smells which I had warned Welf and Lili not to follow since it is a predatory plant that lures in it's prey with that smell.
I looked down the path and saw some Bugbears. From what I remember they are a lot faster than they look and have strength and endurance on par with a minotaur. Basically a minotaur with speed as well.
"Lili, Support me and Welf. Welf keep close to me, there monsters are as strong as Minotaur's but faster" Welf nodded as Lili started firing arrows at the Bugbears.
Me and Welf got ready as the bugbears headed towards Us. I quickly ran forward and weaved myself through them, cutting off their limbs as Welf finished them off. They were really slow to my eyes, since they are classified as a level 2 monster.
As the fight went on other monsters joined in such as battleboars, lizardmen and a couple of mad beetles. Most of the monsters were focused on me but at the corner of my eye I noticed a lizardman sneaking up on Lili. The lizardman in front of me swung at me as I front flipped over him, and threw my knife. The knife pierced it's neck before I reached out and directed it towards the lizardman going for Lili.
The knife sliced its head clean off its shoulder, making the monster crumble to dust as the magic stone landed safely on the ground right next to Lili. She looked at me and smiled in thanks as the knife traveled back into my hand.
Okay, more monsters are coming, guess it's time for that since it's going to be too much for Welf and Lili.
"Welf! Get back to Lili, I can handle the rest!" Welf didn't have time to acknowledge me as another lizardman came and attacked him. Welf managed to defeat it, and headed back towards Lili
All the monsters were gathered in a big group, this is good. Alright, here I go.
"HEAT TEMPEST"
Flames encircled me as I launched forward,much like Ais's tempest. Whenever I got close to the monsters, the fire that had encircled me infected their bodies and burned them relentlessly. The flames wouldn't even go out even if they found water. From what I know the flames are special, I don't know why but they are. As I sliced and burned my way through the monsters the rest started to scatter and run.
"NO YOU DON'T!"
I slammed my fist into the ground, as the flames that had engulfed me spread across the entire battlefield, killing anything in its path but creating an opening to where Lili and Welf were to not hurt them.
The rest of the monsters on the battlefield instantly crumbled to dust as the flames' strength were too much for them.
In the end, this magic, evolved from firebolt, Is almost identical to Ais' Ariel, yet different. Hers focuses on precise slashes after activating it while mine on area of effect destruction.
"Bell! That was incredible! What was that fire you used?" I turned around to see Lili and Welf walking towards me while looking around at the burning ground.
"Well, It's an evolution of my Firebolt, called Heat Tempest. It's a self enchantment Fire magic"
"That's incredible, it was amazingly strong at that. That alongside that other skill, I don't even want to imagine what you can do with that" I gazed to the side, thinking about one of times I did, I nearly killed the entire party I had with it. If I'm going to do it sometime, I have to be careful. The magic is already really powerful, and with argonaut, there is only one way I can use it effectively without backlash on my team, by focusing it into a blast like firebolt.
"Anyway man, thanks, I was starting to get overwhelmed" Welf smiled at me, thanking me for what I did.
"It's alright Welf, I purposely dragged the battle on as much as possible so you all could gain some experience on the 19th floor. If you manage to get used to it like me, then you will have a better chance at survival" There was a pause as Lili made a confused face
"'Like Me'? What do you mean? This is the first time you're down here right?" Shit! I didn't mean to say that at all. I can't think of a way out of this. Fuck!
"Well… ehh..-" Lili looked sternly at me
"Did you head down into the dungeon without us?" She looked absolutely pissed
"Hehe, Yeah, Definitely. I definitely did that. Nothing else is wrong here. Heh" Yeah, I sure sound convincing. Both were looking at me with uncertainty.
"Fine, We will drop it… for now! We will talk about this at a later time" I sighed, well. I guess I hope that I won't have to reveal myself, that would be a drag.
We continued exploring the 19th floor as I started taking notes of everything and creating the entry. I already know that the giant tree labyrinth (What we are in now), stretches down to the 24th floor before the rest is called the lower floors.
I looked up from my notes and noticed something off about the water, there was a hole in there. That's when it struck me, we were at one of the hidden villages of the Xenos. Most of them were hidden behind small ponds and this was one of the ones closest to the surface. At least for now.
Perhaps I should leave it for another time and mark it on my personal map, and copy the rest off on a separate paper. I decided to do that and continued forward.
"Yo! Isn't that a rare beauty? We managed to kill a Vouivre, the damn monster was crying! Haha, that's what you get for killing us you damn monsters" I froze, and turned my head towards the sounds, seeing a party of adventurers holding the Vouivre's tear and magic stone. I got flashbacks from the Knossos, and Dix as he ripped the tear out of another Vouivre's head. Someone very special to me. I decided to calm down, I had to focus. That was most likely not her. It was probably a normal monster in the dungeon.
I mean, what are the chances that she was a vouivre before I met her?
Bell's POV
=Floor 20, Dusk=
I looked around me and started noticing the lighting dissipating slowly, I turned around and signaled Lili and Welf to get over to me.
"Lili, Welf. We have to head back to the 18th floor. It's getting dark and we need to regather our strength before heading back to the surface" Lili and Welf nodded as we got into position.
"Heat tempest" I whispered as I aimed at the wall of the dungeon as blue flames shot form my hands, creating a large hole in it.
"Bell! Why did you do that?" I chuckled, right they didn't know about the strategy Aisha taught us previously.
"To stop monsters from spawning in this room. Since they spawn from the walls, if we destroy the walls, then they can't spawn until the dungeon heals. Also the dungeon can't spawn and heal at the same time, meaning that the monsters spawning around the floor are significantly reduced to not affect the other floors around it" Lili and Welf looked like they had an epiphany. I chuckled as I looked at said Blacksmith
"Welf, I'd have to say you were lucky today. You found some high quality orichalcum, I could help you forge that into Durandal if you want. That should fetch a high prize" Welf's face went ecstatic.
"No, No, I want to remodel your armor. I've got some ideas, such as if I mix in Durandal, as well as some of the Titanium from the ilmite we found, It should make the arm-"
"Welf, Lili looks like she will pass out of boredom. We can discuss this later on, and yes I know it should make the armor more durable without losing the lightweight properties" Welf gave me his signature smirk, before we continued our way towards the 18th floor.
On the way back I couldn't shake the feeling of being watched, and it wasn't Freya. Not the same lecherous stare.
Bell's POV
=18th Floor=
"What do you guys think about visiting Rivera before setting up a small camp?" Even though I know that Rivera is filled with scammers, it's still interesting just looking around.
"Yeah, that sounds fine Bell. But I don't really want to buy anything there. It's way too expensive from what I hear" Lili was right-
Okay, that feeling is starting to irritate me "Lili, Welf, follow me. Someone is watching us but don't act unnatural" Lili and Welf tried their best to not act uneasy but their faces said it all. Thank god that stare is coming from behind us.
We headed through the woods, before arriving in Rivera. We headed into one of the alleyways and hid behind some of the boxes that were right next to a turn to the right.
I started hearing footsteps heading towards us.
"Lili, Welf, Be quiet. They are coming, it appears to be 5 pairs of footsteps" I whispered to them, Lili got her crossbow loaded as Welf had his hand on his greatsword. I readied my Hestia knife.
"Yo, where the hell did they go?" A voice rang out, a voice that I didn't recognize.
"I don't know, maybe around that corner over there" Another unknown voice
"Good, that's a dead end, We can easily ambush them there. They looked like they were stuffed with loot" Typical, Adventurers that prey on weaker adventurers to get money. These people are complete and utter scum.
The bandits came around the box and I jumped over it and landed behind the group as Welf got his greatswords tip almost digging into one's neck. Lili had her arrows aimed at the entire group.
"Woah, Whoa! Take it easy will ya?" I growled
"You want me to take it easy when you were obviously trying to rob us? Tsk, you people are scum" Damn, I sound like Bete.
"Guys, ehh… Isn't that the Little Rookie? The one that beat the living shit out of Hyakinthos?" The look of fear that spread across the bandit's faces pleased me.
"Yes, my name is Bell Cranel, or better known as the Little Rookie of the Hestia Familia" One of the bandits decided that they should go for it and pulled his sword and charged at me.
"AHHHHHH" The rest followed suit, their mistake.
I easily dodged their slices and vertically cut their swords in half before kicking them all into the wall, creating cracks in it. 3 down, 2 to go.
The 2 in front looked back at me after beating Welf to the ground. That really pissed me off. I charged at them in an instant to their eyes, and kicked one of them right in the crotch, making him squirm. The other one drew an ornamental glowing red blade.
You've got to be kidding me! A magic sword? The Bandit swung it as fire seeped out of the blade. It was too fast for me as I got hit right in the chest… Weird, It barely hurts even though that magic sword is well made.
I looked up and saw that it shattered. I quickly took the opportunity to punch him straight in the face with all of my might, sending him flying into the back of the alley. The last bandit was on the ground whimpering in fear.
"Please, I-I didn't mean anything by it!" I walked towards him "Please! MERCY!" I grabbed him and threw him into the wall, knocking him out
"Scum" I growled. After the bandit fell to the ground, a red gem fell from his pocket. It looked familiar to me. I walked up to it and inspected it before gasping.
This- This is a Vouivre's tear. These are the guys from earlier that killed a Vouivre. Now I feel better since according to them it cried. It might as well have been a Xenos.
"Bell… That was pretty cruel you know" Welf looked worried "It's not like you" I sighed
"Welf, if there is one thing that you need to know, it is that I despise bandits. I'm taking this Vouivre's tear and giving it to you. You might be able to make some use of it. At least better then these scum" Welf nodded as Lili looked at me in awe.
I could understand why she was respecting my actions. She had been abused by bandits in her own familia for a long time, so seeing me doing this must have been satisfying for her.
Before leaving. I decided to check which Familias they were from and pulled their shirts up to see their Falna… wait, Ikelos familia? Then… that means they weren't trying to kill that Vouivre, they were trying to capture it, but failed. Damn, things are escalating way too fast. I can barely explore the dungeon without some new threat arising.
"Fuck" I muttered to myself. Things were not going to plan. I was supposed to be able to farm the dungeon for some time now after the war game. Now the Xenos are going to take up a large portion of time, and right after that I'm going to have to help Haruhime.
Well, nothing to do about it now but get started. Once I return to the surface, I will prepare for the Xenos, and handle the Ikelos Familia, and to do that… I'm going to have to talk to Ouranos.
That's chapter 16, The Xenos arc is the next one. The order of things happening is a little different. The Xenos is happening kind of at the same time as Haruhime's arc. Anyway, I hope that you enjoyed it and I also wanted to thank you all for the tremendous support on this story. It has blown my mind how many people are enjoying my work! Thank you all, and I hope that in the future, I won't disappoint you!
Itc: This story is interesting, but it kinda seems unlike Bell to hijack Lili's plan... Also, you changed the 'rules' of the war game, that being only 1 adventurer can assist Bell, yet multiple people did...
Author: Well, Bell is kind of OCC in this story, he has been through a lot and changed. He was trained in strategy mostly by Finn but also by Lili since both are incredible at it. This means that Bell uses plans that Lili would come up with and saw that the previous plan was very well thought out and 'hijacked' it. Also I didn't change the 'rules' of the war game. It specified that the Hestia Familia could have one adventurer from outside the familia for help (Ryuu) The only ones otherwise that were a part of it were Bell, Lili and Hestia who are all members of the Hestia familia (Hestia is the goddess, so she is technically a member). Otherwise, thank you for the review!
Ca1piggy: lol the slaughter. Hopefully bell trains with Ais again for the first time since they both leveled up but this time Finn and Loki execs show up. Then Finn vs. Bell after Ais gets a lap pillow! May be some choice moments for Bete. and some choice comments by Lefiya.
Author: Well, no training with Ais for this chapter. He will be training with here some time soon though but Finn and the other Execs wont be there since it would ruin their plan to investigate him. It just doen't fit in with the narrative, sorry. But you may be getting some lap pillows, just maybe, depends on my mood when writing it ;)
Great Chapter! The early release is a very pleasant surprise indeed. Hopefully Bell and Ais moments will be more plentiful in the future (yes I'm still waiting for some lap pillow action LOL). Next step is probably the expedition or the Ishtar Familia arc right? Here's a thought that occurred to me: what if Bell somehow got involved in the Melen arc (from Sword Oratoria) (its where the girls in loki familia encounter Kali familia and Ishtar Familia before the Ishtar familia arc in canon). Well considering Bell wasn't aware of it previously (or I think he didn't know about it) I dunno how its gonna happen. Well its just a thought anyways. Now I do wonder how the "Finn asking Bell to join the expedition" scene is gonna play out? Will Ais even know about it before the expedition start? Well whatever it is I'm looking forward to it. Oh and I do wonder about the Heat Tempest thing, is that like a direct upgrade where Bell now had an elemental enchantment magic? will Bell still have his firebolt? (well if its spoiler I won't pry further, and just wait for it to appear later in the story I guess) Regarding your idea of the prequel, To be honest I am quite interested, but I do worry how that will affect this story's release schedule if you also work that on the same time. Well anyways keep up the good work, and I'm looking forward to the next chapter. Oh and good luck for your finals, It's nearing finals season too from where I live now LOL

Author: Damn, another long review :) as usual, I won't be able to answer all your questions since some answers would spoil the story. Now for your first comment, Bell and Ais will have more moments, and more plentiful at that as the story progresses. The next step in the story is an arc thats kind of a mix between Ishtar and Xenos arc, meshing them together. You will understand more as the arc progresses. I can confirm that the arc after this one will be the expedition arc, also Bell never found out about the Melen arc except for some few mentions that will be explored in the sequel story once I have more time. Well, you also asked about Heat tempest. You are correct with the assumption with it being a self enchantment type magic, but like ais' Ariel, it can be used in multiple creative ways since it is very versatile, also since it is an evolution of Firebolt, he can still use Firebolt as it is still a part of the spell. About the Prequel, I do plan to start writing it when I feel like I will have enough time. I don't know when that is but I will make sure that it won't affect the release schedule of this story, if it does, I will prioritize this story since it is the main focus, the prequel is just an added treat. 1) So when will Welf and Mikoto join the hestia familia?
2) So will Bell save haruhime straight away when he meets her for the first time or follow like the original plot when he manage to prevent the ritual with the killing stone?
3) Does that mean that cassandra and Daphne will join the Hestia Familia? Since in the original they did not join their Familia after finding out the debt between Hestia's deal with Hephaestus.
Author: I will list the answers I can give in the same manner as you asked them
1) Welf will join at least before chapter 20. For Mikoto, She will join shortly after that if not at the same time. The reasons will be revealed with the story
2) The plot will be relatively the same, apart from added details as well as connections to make the arc fit better. I can't answer more than that or I risk spoiling the entire Arc alongside some of it's plotlines.
3) Well the Debt is still there, after all its 200 million Valis. Bell has around 103.2 Million in total at this point in the story (money from the war game), that still leaves 97.8 million Valis in debt if he used all of his money. It may not be a lot, but it's still a substantial amount.
