"Look who I have!" Evelyn exclaimed, shutting the door behind her.

"Oh God." Jeanine muttered.

Evelyn revealed a cage containing a small ball of brown and white fluff.

"What the fuck is that?" Jeanine asked even though she knew exactly what it was.

"A hamster dipshit, I thought you were meant to be a genius."

Jeanine rolled her eyes, "I know what it is but I want to know why you have it."

Evelyn carefully set the cage down on the table and sat next to her wife.

"A girl from my work's sister is going to Russia to help investigate Sagittarius A*-"

"Oh that's-"

"Jeanine I love you but I can't be bothered to even pretend to understand what you are about to launch into."

Jeanine laughed, "Okay, please do continue telling me about why we now have a hamster."

"Well it's her hamster and she needs someone to look after it for a while." Evelyn explained.

"You have been in that job for a grand total of two weeks and you are already looking after some girl's sister's hamster." Jeanine didn't know Evelyn could be that social.

"Hmmm?" Evelyn was preoccupied with taking the hamster out of the cage.

"Jesus." Jeanine muttered.

"Look how cute he is though." Evelyn held him delicately in her hands and outstretched them towards the hesitant blonde. "Come on, you know you want to."

Jeanine paused for a moment, looking between Evelyn's pleading eyes and the delicate animal that would have been killed in her house.

She nervously took him and attempted to stop her arms from shaking, out of fear of scaring or even dropping him.

He looked up at her and she melted, "He's adorable. What's his name?"

"Georgie." Evelyn replied as she watched the scene in front of her in awe.

Pets were banned in Erudite. They both knew that, they had both grown up there after all but things were always much stricter in Jeanine's life. Whether it was her parents, the home or Norton, Jeanine had always been kept to high and strict standards. This fact made accepting changes like this hard.

"At least he is a scientist's." Jeanine petted Georgie lightly on the head.

"Why does that change anything?" Evelyn questioned.

Jeanine shrugged, "Makes him seem more logical... I don't know... If we are looking after him so she can go and do something for the world than it doesn't seem so illogical."

"I suppose I see the logic in that. I'm sure Maddison will do great things."

"Yeah."

"He is definitely a cutie." Evelyn cooed.

"I suppose we can let him hang around for a while." she handed him back to Evelyn.

"Hang around." Evelyn laughed.

"Oh shut up, you know what I mean."

Evelyn petted him one last time before putting him back in his cage.

"Want to watch a movie tonight?" Evelyn asked, slinging her arm around Jeanine.

Jeanine smiled and quickly kissed her, "Sure."

"Fancy a horror movie." Evelyn wickedly asked.

"Fine."

"Really?!"

"If it's the only way to get you to stop nagging me."

"Yay!"

Jeanine didn't believe in ghosts but that didn't stop her from screaming at every jump scare in Annabelle Creation. Evelyn would protectively pull her closer and stroke her hair. It was a perfect night and they almost felt like a normal couple when Jeanine had her shaking hands draped round Evelyn's neck by the end.
