Sakura wanted to thank Doma for everything he had done for her. The last few years had been simply amazing, and she never thought she'd once day be so happy. Now, any normal person would consider being a demon's future snack quite unfortunate, but she didn't mind one bit: her life truly was a measly price for six full years of joy and freedom. And, even if it was merely because of their deal, Sakura really wanted to express her gratitude toward her traveling companion. He had, unfortunately, refused when she offered him one of her fingers, so she had had to look for more usual methods of thanking.
After a while, they stumbled upon a rich estate, which agreed to take them in for the night. Sakura instantly took a liking to the young heiress, and the feeling was reciprocated, so Doma agreed to go hunt elsewhere for his food. And, while he was gone, the young heiress taught Sakura how to make flower crowns. She didn't think it could fully express her gratitude, but she had a feeling that he would like it—he always liked pretty things, after all.
So, when he came back, she didn't waste any time in giving it to him.
"What is this?"
"A gift. As a thank you, for everything you've done for me."
A tad hesitantly, Doma grabbed the flower crown she was handing him. It was quite delicate and it was made out of cherry blossoms, fittingly enough. It also had her scent all over it, and he couldn't really feel anything other than genuine surprise at the gesture. Many of his followers had given him offerings and even sacrifices sometimes, but a gift was something new.
"Do you like it?"
After a moment, he smiled lightly and put the crown on his head. "It's wonderful. Thank you, Little Blossom. I'll cherish it."
She simply offered a bright, warm smile at that, and the warmth seemed to spread throughout his chest until it reached his supposedly dead heart. The feeling was quite foreign, but not disagreeable, so he simple let it be.
He'd think it over later.
