Chapter 22: Moving into the Dorms
We now begin Act 6: The Provisional Exam. A few months after the events of One For All, Deku and Uraraka discover that they will now be living in UA. In addition to that, they have begun training for the Provisional Exam. Does Deku have what it takes?!
Uraraka's P.O.V
A few months passed since the big fight against All For One.
Deku and I were walking around the city holding hands.
I was humming to myself.
Deku looked at me smiling.
"You're really enjoying yourself Ochako," he said to me.
"Why of course I am," I said, "Its been ages since we been able to have a proper date."
"A date?" He asked, "We just went and got some new clothes at the mall."
I chuckled.
"That's what people call a date," I said kissing his cheek.
Some people noticed Deku.
"Hey, its that kid who beat All For One!"
Soon people were starting to crowd us.
They also started asking questions and saying stuff.
"Hey, I was one of the guys you saved," one guy said approaching me, "Give me an autograph."
I was crowded by fanboys.
Girls were crowding Deku.
"You were talking about a date!" Said one of them, "Is she your girlfriend?!"
He was getting uncomfortable.
He dashed away and took my hand.
"Come on!" He said, "We have a date to finish."
We started to run and soon we lost them.
Later we were sitting at a bench.
Deku then looked to me.
"This place brings back memories," he said.
"huh?"
I looked at him.
"Don't you remember?" He asked, "Its where Mom use to take us to play. One day there were kids picking on you, and I scared them off."
I started to remember.
"Good times," I said.
"You know what else is a good time?" He asked, "This."
He kissed me by surprise.
I started to kiss him back.
I then looked and saw ghosts of my mom and dad.
They were smiling at us.
Later the two of us were heading home to see Inko playing with Eri.
"Mama, papa!" She said running towards us.
I picked her up and kissed her forehead causing her to giggle.
All Might was also there.
"All Might?" Deku asked, "What are you doing here?"
Later he was explaining to us what he was doing.
Apparently there was a new system at UA that was granting the students permission to move into UA in the dorms.
"A dormitory system?" I asked, "You mean we'll be living at UA?"
All Might nodded.
"At first I was hesitant about this because of all the dangers you two have been through," Inko admitted, "You kids are the most important thing to me. Izuku, you look up to All Might more than anybody and you wanted nothing more than to be a hero."
She looked to Deku.
"All I saw in the past was my sweet baby boy, and not the man you've become, and I'm sorry if you ever felt like I doubted you."
Deku looked back.
"Mom its ok, you worry because you love me," Deku said.
"Every day you come home injured, but that's only a sign that you've been working hard," Inko said smiling, "25% of me is still against this decision, but… All Might helped me see the light in this situation."
Eri was worried.
"Papa and Mama won't be living here anymore?" She asked.
"On the contrary Eri, you'll be coming with them," All Might said, "We have a special room for the 3 of you."
Eri hugged us both.
Deku was hesitant.
"But what about you mom?" He asked, "Will you make it by yourself?"
Inko smiled.
"There's another piece of news we'd like to share," All Might said.
"I've recently started dating again," Inko said, "I figured if you were gonna be busy with school and all that, I should get myself out there. I was almost against it because I didn't want you to think I was replacing your father."
Deku was happy for Inko.
"That's great mom, I'm happy that you're dating" he said, "Who's the lucky man?"
All Might gestured to himself.
Both of us were amazed and surprised at the same time.
"Mom this is… this is… incredible!" He said.
"Who would've thought?" I asked.
"You have nothing to worry about my boy," All Might said, "Your mother is in good hands."
"Same with your quirk All Might."
All Might chuckled and rubbed his head.
"Funny thing about that….."
He told him something about the quirk.
"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA….."
90 seconds later…..
"…AAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!"
I chuckled to myself.
"Those doctors have no idea how to work their own technology," All Might said, "They're just lazy."
Deku was surprised by what he just said.
"So that quirk… was really my own?"
I was happy for him finding this out.
"That's right," All Might said, "You had your own quirk and it was just having trouble showing. a special skill and helped you pull it out."
Deku was happy.
"I really did have a quirk," Deku said thinking about what happened years ago, "I really could've…"
I held his hand.
"Deku we've talked about this," I said smiling, "Besides they're up there watching over us."
Deku smiled knowing I was right.
Eri giggled.
"What's so funny?"
"You are," Eri said, "You were surprised by what Mr. Mighty told you."
She mimicked his face being surprised and Deku chuckled.
"You know what else is funny?"
He grabbed Eri and started to tickle her.
She laughed loudly.
"Papa!" She cried out between laughs, "Mama help!"
I pulled Deku back and sat him on the chair.
"Get him Eri!" I said.
We both started to tickle him and Inko and All Might joined in.
He tried to escape but soon relented against it.
"Ok ok I give up!" He said laughing, "You guys win!"
After everything we've gone through, we really needed this.
Deku's P.O.V
The next day we were heading to UA with Eri.
Mom hugged us both.
"Call as soon as you get there," she said, "I love you both."
Ochako bowed before my mom.
"Thank you for everything you've done for me over the past 10 years," she said smiling.
"Of course, I always will," mom said, "Now get a move on."
We started walking to school and soon joined the others.
Mina was the first to see us.
"Hey you guys made it!" She said.
Eri ran to her.
"Auntie Mina!" She said giving her a hug.
"Well hi sweetie," she said smiling.
Kirishima rustled her hair.
"Hey squirt," he said.
"Hi Uncle Shima," Eri said smiling.
It made sense to call Mina her aunt, to be honest.
If she had a mama and papa, why couldn't she have uncles and aunts.
"Nice to see you all have made it," Aizawa said, "And welcome to UA Eri."
"Thank you Mr. Scarf man," she said.
Aizawa chuckled.
He was showing us the wonders of the new Dormitory system of UA.
"Each of you gets to choose a dorm from one of the various rooms, while the first floor is a common space," he said, "This room contains dining areas, bathrooms, the works."
Ochako was amazed.
"Its like a mansion!" She said.
She fainted in my arms.
Mineta was surprised.
"The bathrooms and other areas….. are a shared space?"
"They're separated by gender," Aizawa said.
"Dang it," Mineta whispered.
It was incredible.
"They really outdid this for us," Momo said.
"Based on the rooms you've picked your luggage has been placed in those areas," Aizawa said.
Eri was amazed by what she's seen.
"Use the time today to unpack, that's all for now," he said, "I'm gonna go take a nap."
A few minutes later we were finally finished unpacking.
Eri had a special room that was right next to mine and Uraraka's.
"Man I'm beat," I said.
Bakugo patted my back.
"You certainly surprised me by going up against All For One," Bakugo said.
Iida was doing his usual thing.
"This is a great way to build discipline," he said.
"Chill out Iida," Kaminari said.
The girls came by.
Ochako was playing with Eri and gave her a new hairstyle.
"So you guys finished with your rooms?" Mina asked.
"Yea we just got done."
Toru approached us.
"So we were al thinking and we had a great idea."
"Let's go around to see who has the coolest room," Mina said.
My room was the first.
"NO!" I said, "Don't go in there please!"
Kirishima and Bakugo held me back while everyone else barged in my room.
"Whoa!" Ochako said, "Its all might from head to toe. You're such a fanboy."
"Well I admire him," I said with a red face.
Eri tugged on me.
"Papa?" She asked.
The next room was Tokoyami.
"No way," he said.
Mina and Toru pushed him away and barged in.
It was a dark room.
"Who, its a mad banquet of darkness!" Mina said.
"You fiends," he said.
Kirishima saw a necklace.
Everyone with the exception of me was looking around.
"Please leave…" Tokoyami said.
I saw a sword.
"Whoa, so cool!" I said.
"GET THE FU….."
Ochako covered Eri's ears before the word could be heard.
Each of us had a special room.
Ochako and I played with Iida's glasses.
Koda let us play with his pet bunny.
Kirishima had a den of manliness.
His was pretty cool to be honest.
Satou had a room with baking stuff and allowed us to have some of his cake.
It was so fluffy i thought I was gonna die.
We also got a look at Tsu's room.
It looked like somewhere a frog would be at.
Bakugo left because he didn't want anyone seeing his room.
There was a tie between me and Satou who had the best rooms.
A few minutes later I was gazing up at the stars.
"Deku, hey," someone said.
It was Ochako.
"What are you doing out here?"
"I was just having a nice chat with your parents," I said, "Your dad is hilarious."
She sat by me.
"You two seem to get along well," she said resting her head on my shoulder.
"He did make a joke about….. keeping it inside," I said blushing, "At first I didn't get what he meant but…"
Ochako laughed.
"My dad was quite a joker about boys," she said.
I smiled.
We were walking back inside.
"Ochako," i said, "I wanna thank you."
"For what?"
"If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't even be in UA," I said, "I was about to give up my dream, but you helped me see the light. You helped me realize that I could become a pro hero, whether I had a quirk or not."
"Well you had a quirk all along," she said, "But its me who should be thanking you."
I looked at her.
"You made me realize that I had what it takes, and if I wanna be a true hero, I gotta do what benefits the whole, not the individual," Ochako explained, "You also got me to realize that we could handle things together as long as we believed in one another."
I smiled.
"So everything that's happened so far, let's just laugh it off and embrace what comes next," I told her, "We'll pull through it together. Me, you, Kirishima, all of Class 1-A."
"Right," Ochako said, "The two of us will keep getting stronger, and we'll fight together."
We shared a kiss.
"Mama, Papa?"
Eri was behind us.
"What are you doing up?" I asked.
"I had a nightmare," she said, "You were walking away and I tried to catch up with you, and then the room got all dark…. And then you….. you…"
She had tears in her eyes.
Ochako picked her up.
"Its ok sweetie, it was just a dream," she said, "Your papa and I would never leave you."
"Really Mama?"
"Of course Eri, we'll always take care of you and love you."
Eri nodded but was still looking sad.
Ochako rocked her gently and began to hum.
She then started to sing to Eri.
Beautiful dreamer,
Wake unto me
Starlight and dewdrops
Are awaiting thee
Sounds of the rude world
Heard in the day
Led by the moonlight
Have all passed away
Eri smiled and so did I.
I knew she was the caring type, but I had no idea she could sing.
Beautiful dreamer,
Queen of my song
List' while I woo thee
With soft melody
Soon Eri found herself yawning.
Gone are the cares of
Life's busy throng
Beautiful dreamer
Awake unto me
Beautiful dreamer,
Awake unto me
Eri started to fall asleep.
We gently put her in the bed.
"Good night Eri," Ochako said smiling.
We were walking into the common rooms and greeted with smiling faces.
"I think you two make a great Mommy and Daddy," Mina said grinning.
We were blushing.
Tsu looked at us.
"Earlier I felt like these situations were tearing us apart," she said, "People tend to grow apart over the years and….. and I don't want that to happen to us."
She looked at me and Ochako with teary eyes.
"Midoriya, you always help people see the better in them, and if we lost you, I don't know what I'd do," she said, "Which is why we wanna help you out any way we can."
She hugged me.
Ochako smiled.
"So if something is bothering you, or if you're fighting a big time supervillain, don't you dare do it alone," Tsu said, "Because you have people who are willing to help!"
I smiled.
Everyone agreed.
Kirishima patted my back.
"Yeah man, I mean it was manly what you did, but don't make a habit of it," he said, "You've got friends in high places you know?"
I smiled and said, "I'll try to remember that."
I was happy knowing the fact that my friends had my back.
