"Would any of you mind givin' a explanation as to why these assholes took us?!" asked Kenny, as he paced around the back of the moving truck, trying to find a way out.
"I'm guessing they followed us." added Clem.
"These bastards ain't gonna stop until we're all fucking dead," said Zak, still in pain from the bullet shot.
"I don't understand, two years living in the community and now they're raiders and kidnappers?!" asked Mika, shocked.
"Ridgedale was the cover up. They had a nice deal going on there, but on the side? They have a camp, where they plan to build a new community. That's why they destroyed Ridgedale," said Mike.
"Lee and Derrick are still out there, they might be able to help us," added Kate, who was always hopeful.
"They don't even know where we are, how's that going to help?" added Christa.
"I hate to agree," Omid said.
"There's a good chance Lee might save our asses along with that boy, but there's no leads, no trail, no shit." replied Kenny.
"They need us, for something. If they didn't, they probably would have killed all of us back there," replied Rosie, worrying about her unborn child.
"These assholes are fucked up. Remember the last time someone locked us up, Clem? Let's just hope it ain't for the same reasons," Kenny said, remembering the St. John Dairy.
"I'm sure they aren't like them. If Mike is right, they need us to help build their new place, makes sense when you think about it," Clem replied, wiping the sweat off her hat.
The truck stopped, as they opened the back door. Several men with guns were waiting. From what Clem could see, they were still in the woods.
" If any of yall need to use the bathroom, nows the time," one of them said.
Clem and Kate headed out several feet into the woods to do their business, but they stayed behind for several minutes to try to come up with a plan.
"Your Kenny friend, the only person he seems to listen to is you and Lee, but since he's not here, it's up to you to convince him of a plan,"
"We don't even have a plan, what should I tell him?"
Kate looked behind her to make sure they weren't being watched.
"The camp they're taking us to, it's reinforced. Not like Ridgedale, but it's well guarded by the best of Clay's men, according to him. We all need to stick together, no matter what."
Clem nodded. She was aware that they were in danger, regardless. They headed back onto the truck as they continued down the road.
After some time, they once again opened the back door, this time they had backed into a old warehouse.
" Alright, yall just follow me. Don't try any stupid shit," one of the men said, as they were escorted across the warehouse to a larger area. They saw several men and women, even some kids, about Clementine's age, looking them down, as if they were a rare species.
"I know you don't know these people," said Clay over a intercom.
"They are survivors of Ridgedale, they'll help us make this place, a better one. They have debts to pay, so they'll be in the pen for some time, until they realize what they've done,"
"Why is he lying-"
"Another word out of your mouth fucking mouth kid, and I'll kill you myself," said Marshall, one of the guards, as he pushed the tip of his rifle against Clem's back.
The group were lead to a back area, that had a bonfire in the middle, and was fenced in, with no clear way out.
"Clay's got some work for yall tomorrow, so rest up," said Marshall, as he closed the shutter.
"Great, now we're some fucking slaves!" said Kenny frustrated as he sat on the ground.
A man, who was already in the pen, rolled over on his bed to face the rest.
"Some of us are trying to sleep, so keep it down," he said, as he put the pillow on his ears to keep out the sound.
"Jeez, what a jerk," said Clem under her breath.
"Clem, keep your preteen mind to yourself," whispered Rosie.
"We've had a a long day, so don't judge," another voice, piped up from the other side of the beds, which belonged to another man, who seemed to be in his early forties.
"Everyone has had a long day, you're not the only ones," replied Mika, as she took off her glasses to wipe her eyes from dirt and exhaustion.
"cmon, you guys just got here, no need to act all hostile," said another man, who was sitting at the bonfire, who was missing a arm.
"And who the hell are you?" Asked Ken.
"The names Reggie. That guy over there is Jaylan and Julius. We're not in a bad spot, we just got to earn our place back in with the rest,"
"From what I remember, these guys basically kidnapped us and took us by force!" added Kate.
"We just need contributions-"
"Fuck that. You don't just get to take people. But I guess that's how it is in this world," added Christa.
Clementine looked around the area. It was all sealed in. There was a ladder that led to the roof, but it had been cut off, and it was too high up for anyone to reach.
The group came to the conclusion that they should rest, and make a plan the next day. The bunk beds weren't as nice as the bed Clem had back in Ridgedale, but she'd slept in worse places.
"If Duck were here, he'd be all over the place, touching stuff. I miss the boy. Always will," said Kenny, as he sniffed his tears away.
Even though he wasn't dead, she deeply missed Lee. He was always there for him, he always gave her advice on what to do, and now she felt like a stray dog, with no current path. Only thing she could do was hope, that he'd be back soon.
"Hey, wake up." Marshall kicked into her stomach.
She quickly opened her eyes after some seconds.
"Don't do that," she replied, slowly getting up.
"Huh?"
"It's not nice." she gave him a death glare.
"Whatever."
The group was escorted towards a large area, where a man, who didn't appear to have a name was giving out orders.
"Okay, listen up. Clay has all of your names and he's assigned you all jobs for the day, so pay attention," he reached for a clipboard on the desk.
"Clementine, you're working the ammo with Bonnie. Mikaela, Kate and Christa, are separating the food from good and bad in the next area. Omid, Jaylan, Mike and Kenneth are going to fix the gate outside. You'll receive orders from Marshall out there,"
"Julius, back in the kitchen,"
"just fucking great," Kenny mumbled under his breath as they were lead towards the gate.
"and you, Clay wants your help with something, so head on up," he pointed towards Rosie.
"So.. Where is my job at?" Asked Clem.
"How am I supposed to know? Look for it!"
"You gave me the job, so you should know where it is!" she growled back.
He slammed the clipboard onto the desk and reached for a pistol and aimed at her. He expected her to get scared, but she didn't even flinch at the sight of the gun mere inches from her face.
" Aren't you a tough one? Look, I know your daddy ain't here to save you, so acting all sissy ain't gonna get you anywhere. Down the hallway, now," Clem didn't hesitate as she walked down the hallway towards the ammo area. Once she opened the door, she met Bonnie.
" Wait... Aren't you..." Clem was shocked.
"Yes, I'm Ms. Susan. Look Clementine, I'm sorry things went down the way they did. I truly am," she said, in a heavy southern voice.
Clem took a seat next to her as they started to load magazines with bullets.
"You knew the whole time, and you didn't save any of the kids. I saw Justin die and turn within minutes," she added.
"I know I wasn't truthful with you, or anyone from your group. I truly regret it, if I could have done anything different, believe me that i would have."
"Now Ridgedale is gone, so I believe, but you're still here. You were always such a bright, intelligent student. I'm glad you're still alive,"
"You know Clay is evil. You're aware of it, I know it!" she replied. Bonnie, or Ms. Susan, had a look in her eyes.
"I can't lie Clem. But there's nothing I can do. Evil as he may be, he's kept everyone at this camp alive ever since the walkers started, so you can't blame him,"
"We don't belong here. Let me and my group go, and you'll never see any of us ever again."
"There's a large walker horde, forming north of here. Clays been preparing for it, but I don't know... It's big. Bigger then I ever seen. Yall need to keep a low profile, I'll do what I can,"
Clem gave her a honest smile, as they continued to fill the many magazines for the next few hours.
After finishing their labor, they all met back at the pen, after being closed in, they all started to talk.
" The fence ain't that sturdy, anything could break through it," said Kenny.
"Well, we didn't see anything useful that could help us escape, just alot of food they grow here, from the greenhouse. But they do have alot of guards," added Mika.
"Look, as much as this idea of breaking out is fucking crazy, I'm in. I can't stand this shit anymore," said Julius, as he sat next to them.
"Welcome to the club," said Omid.
"Hell, I'm in too," said Jaylan.
Anothe woman, who had short, blonde hair approached them. She smelled really bad, and Clem recognized the smell.
"I'm all for leaving."
"Since when do you talk?" Asked Jaylan.
"Ever since you started cooking up a plan to bust out."
"Well, we got more manpower, but we ain't getting anywhere, unless we get a lead," said Kenny.
"Kenny's right. We might have more support, but we'll just get killed unless we have a idea," said Mike, backed up by Kate and Christa.
"What did you find Clem?" Asked Mika.
"Bonnie, the lady I was helping with the ammo, she's all for helping us out,"
"Hallelujah," added Ken.
"Did you find anything else?" Asked Ken.
"Dude, chill, let the girl breathe," said Jaylan.
"She said that Clay and his people are preparing for walkers. That there is a big horde, north of here. We won't have time,"
"Shit... Then that means.." Kenny went into a deep thought.
"Means what?" Asked Omid.
"We can't go north! If we escape these assholes, we'll just get eaten!" added Ken.
"No. She's right. We're going to run out of time. I've seen the horde. It's massive, and it's going to pass through here eventually. This place won't survive," said the girl, by the name of Jane.
"So when you disappear, you're checking out Walkers?" said Julius.
"So what's the plan then if there's a horde coming?" Asked Kate.
"I don't know. If Derrick and Lee are still out there, they might be able to distract them, while we get away, said Mika.
"It's too dangerous for them. We can go right through," added Clem, remembering the Marsh House.
"Go through walkers? That's suicide!" said Kenny, shocked at the idea.
"No, it's not! It's how me and Lee got out of the Marsh house in Savannah. He covered me in walkers blood. They didn't attack us when we passed through a small horde in the street,"
"She's right. If you have their guts and blood on you, they can't tell you from one of them. You'll be able to go right through, if you don't draw attention," said Jane.
"That horde will take weeks to form and get here. We need something big, and loud to attract them all," said Mike.
"This place has a old intercom system. If we can get it working and make some noise, this place will be a walker beacon," added Julius.
"Alright, here's the plan. We get the speaker system working, once we pump out enough noise, we get the hell out," said Kenny.
"What about Bonnie? She said she'll help us, she told me about the horde, she can help with something else," suggested Clem.
"Fine, talk to her again tomorrow, and once you get anything out of here, we'll meet at lunch break, to set it up." said Julius.
They all agreed and headed to bed. Clem couldn't help but think about Lee. Where was he? Was he okay? Better yet, was he alive? She knew he wouldn't go down without a fight, and that he was looking for her. She didn't want to leave or do anything until she found him. What if they left, and he's still out there? So many things boggled her mind, and she was worried about him, and the group, which was like her family.
