He's back here, back in Magnolia. How long has it been this time? Three whole months, perhaps?
"Thinking of your girlfriend again?"
Jellal's right eye twitched in annoyance upon hearing the voice of the most irritating member in their group. What possessed him to join this group again? Oh right. To redeem himself for his sins.
"Erza's not in town at the moment." His reply is succinct, straight and to the point. No use explaining too much to Sorano, she's just here to get a rise out of everyone and irritate the hell out of them.
"Whatever you say, loverboy." Sorano waved it off with a yawn. "I'm going to go find Yukino, you go and report to whoever. See you later."
"Erik had already disappeared on us. We are going to go find Gray and Juvia." Meredy said on behalf of her and Ultear from where they are standing at the entrance of the town. "See you later, Jellal."
And so, they split up and went their separate ways. Jellal walked along that familiar path that he had grown to love and associate as home. How long has it been since he had last visited the guild?
Too long.
It's been five years. Five years since their guild's last big battle at Tenrou Island and destroyed another dark guild that was part of the Balam Alliance. Things have changed within these few years, and a lot has to deal with how serious their new Guild Master and Ace are taking the threat of rampant dark guilds that are infesting Fiore like a plague that no one was willing to take the initiative to get rid of until Fairy Tail came into the picture. Nobody can simply dismiss the concerns of the Guild Master of the Number One guild in Fiore. With Fairy Tail's alliance with Blue Pegasus and Lamia Scale along with other guilds which they now have alliances with, pushing the Magic Council and the Royal Family to take this matter seriously got a little easier. It also helps that the current Ten Wizard Saints are made up of established and renowned mages who genuinely want to make their country a better place to live in.
He is easily recognisable especially with that tattoo on his face. Many of the townsfolk in Magnolia waved to him with smiles on their faces when he walked along these familiar streets. It's been five years, his probation is over. He is now a free man. It still feels like a dream sometimes, that he is actually no longer a criminal.
If it wasn't for his brother being there when his sins were being judged five years ago, who knows how long he would have been imprisoned. He really does owe him.
The biggest change in his life is that he is now a part of an independent group working for the Magic Council. Crime Sorciere, that is the name that they call themselves by. It is an idea put forth by Elden shortly after he became the Ace of the guild. Two of the three dark guilds that made up the Balam Alliance may have been forcefully disbanded but the total number of dark guilds that run rampant in their country still has not lessened. It is just a matter of time before another Balam Alliance will rise to take the place of Oracion Seis and Grimoire Heart. Thus, there is a need to address the root of the problem. As a guild under Fiore's Magic Council, it is also Fairy Tail's responsibility to protect and uphold the peace of their country and also the region which they are tasked to protect. In Fairy Tail's case, their designated area is the area around Magnolia.
However, not every guild has the manpower to spare and send in mages just for this sole purpose of combating and erasing dark guilds from existence. Hence, there came the idea of having a separate and unique entity whose only purpose is to eradicate dark guilds and has members who are all S Class in strength. However, S Class mages are hard to find and searching for such individuals who are willing to wholeheartedly devote themselves to this cause is near impossible. It was then Elden proposed having previous S Class dark mages who are sincerely looking to redeem themselves to be a part of this group. They will work for the Magic Council to eradicate dark guilds in Fiore and in return, they will have their sentence lessened depending on how well they did their job.
The moment Elden's proposition makes a turn into this direction, it does not take a genius to know that Elden went to all this trouble just to help him and Sorano. He can't help but make an amused snort at the thought of it. Who knew Elden had such a sneaky side to him?
It took a while to convince the other legal guilds to support this idea before they brought it up to the Magic Council. It helps that they have Makarov and Jura on their side at that time, who are members of the Ten Wizard Saints and have significant sway in the council. It got better when other powerful figures like Draculos, Wolfheim, and Warrod agreed to the idea as well. The threat of dark guilds has been a thorn on Fiore's side for far too long and it is time that something needs to be done about it. If it means fighting evil with evil, then it will be done as long as things do not get out of hand.
Upon further discussion, the Magic Council agreed to the proposal jointly put forward by the various legal guilds. That is on the condition that someone powerful in which the Magic Council can trust will watch over the entire project. Jura had volunteered to do so and so did Jellal. The council was skeptical about him at first and with good reasons too, but they agreed to this arrangement nonetheless.
Then comes the recruitment process. It was easy to convince Sorano and Richard since they both are eager to redeem themselves in order to reunite with their younger siblings. It wasn't too hard to convince the rest of the ex Oracion Seis members after that due to the bond that they share. Somewhere along the way Ultear and Meredy approached them on their own accord, expressing an interest to join Crime Sorciere as well in order to atone for their sins.
Thus, Crime Sorciere was born.
It has been more than three years since Crime Sorciere's founding and they have produced results good enough to make the Magic Council very happy. He himself is already a free man, the first among the eight sinners. In another two years or so maybe Sorano and Richard can join him as well since they were given a lighter sentence at the start due to them willingly turning themselves in during the battle to stop Nirvana. As of now, Crime Sorciere is still an independent group mainly made up of criminals, but maybe that will change in a few years' time.
He stopped by a shop when he saw something that caught his attention. His niece would probably love it if he bought it for her. Elden and Mira can scold him for all they want but hey, he is Mirel's uncle. It is his job to spoil her.
He entered and emerged from the shop within five minutes with a newly bought plush toy for his niece. She has too many plush toys to count because every adult just gave her one when she asked, but Jellal is very sure that she does not have a fox plush toy yet. This one looks pretty cute too.
His feet slowly brought him home. The edges of his lips curled up into a small smile at the thought of it. Home. That word was such a foreign concept to him when he first arrived at Fairy Tail but now he truly has a family and home to call his own. Unlike Elden and Mira, he and Erza are not yet ready to enter into the next chapter of their lives but that is okay. He doesn't mind taking things slow and neither does she.
He soon arrived, a quaint cottage at the edge of Magnolia, away from all the noise and hustle but not totally cut off from Magnolia itself. Before he became a part of Crime Sorciere he lived in a rented one-room apartment but there wasn't a point to continue to rent that place after he joined Crime Sorciere, because he is often outside Magnolia instead of staying in town. He is rarely in the guild ever since he chose to walk on this path of redemption that his brother had kindly opened up for him. Whenever he's back in Magnolia for a short while and needs a place to stay for the night he will stay at his brother's home. There's a room here that is reserved just for him and Mirel is always ecstatic to see him.
He was about to knock on the door when the door was opened by somebody else from the inside. Mirajane gave him her usual kind smile.
"Home sweet home, Jellal."
"I'm back." He replied with a nod of his head and a smile on his face. "It's nice to see you again, Mira."
"It's kind of late, but did you have lunch?" Mira asked as he entered through the door and left his shoes by the doorstep. Jellal nodded at her question, indicating that he had lunch before arriving at Magnolia.
"Jel?"
"El." Jellal greeted his half-brother when he appeared from his study, that usual sleepy look on his face.
"I will head to the guild for a while to help Laxus with some paperwork. Mirel is having her nap so don't wake her up, okay? I will be back in an hour or two. You two carry on with whatever you are supposed to do." Mira said with a laugh before she disappeared into the master bedroom to get changed. Jellal and Elden entered the study where El usually does his paperwork as the Ace of the guild because he said it's hard to get any work done in the guild itself when it is always so noisy and rowdy. The chairs and tables in the guild flying around every hour or so isn't exactly helping things too.
"We didn't have much progress." Jellal got straight to the point the moment Elden closed the door behind them and activated the privacy runes Freed had helped draw up in this room to prevent themselves from being listened in. "We still don't have a clue on where Tartaros might be and where they might be appearing next."
Tartaros, the third guild and last group that made up the Balam Alliance. After the downfall of Oracion Seis and Grimoire Heart, Tartaros is now the strongest and most powerful dark guild in Fiore. Like how Grimoire Heart had once acted, it is simply a matter of time before Tartaros turned their swords towards Fairy Tail, the strongest legal guild in Fiore. So before that happens, Fairy Tail needs to do everything it can to safeguard the safety of their members. That is their job as S Class mages. As the Ace of the Guild, Elden is the one in charge to handle this matter of grave importance.
"They probably have a mobile stronghold then, like how Grimoire Heart had an airship as the base of their operations. That makes the most sense." Elden concluded.
"That is what we suspect as well." Jellal agreed. "But knowing that their goal is to "return to Zeref", they will probably strike at wherever allows them to locate their creator. Hopefully, Zeref is still on Tenrou like what Master Mavis had told us."
"Nobody can stop him if he really wants to leave." Elden sighed. "Why on earth is he even on our guild's sacred island anyway? Master Mavis' explanation of "We used to be friends" wasn't very helpful."
"It's Master Mavis, just roll along with it." Jellal snorted. "Let's just hope that Zeref remains hidden on Tenrou. The longer he stays there, the better. It would be bad if Tartaros caught a whiff of his location."
Elden remained silent before speaking up again.
"You know, I've been thinking. If I'm a demon from Tartaros and I want to "return to Zeref", what would I do?"
"Search for him, or make him appear before you." Jellal answered without a second thought. "But considering that it is impossible for anyone to locate Tenrou Island while the magical barriers are active, then the only possible option for Tartaros would be to lure Zeref out somehow."
"So it all comes back to what Zeref wants, huh? That's the problem. We don't know what Zeref wants." Elden furrowed his brows in thought as he said that, as if trying to dig something out from his memories. "Urgh, I don't think I can remember anything useful that might point us in a direction that might help us. None of the things Mest had helped us dig are of any use at this point."
"Don't push yourself too hard." Jellal reminded his half-brother. "This is Tartaros we are talking about, it won't be easy to topple them. Besides, we have other guilds helping out as well. If they find anything useful we will know."
"Hopefully they will find something soon. The sooner we get rid of Tartaros, the sooner we can deal with the dark guild problem once and for all."
"By the way, have you considered the offer from the Magic Council?"
"You mean accepting the title of a Wizard Saint?" Elden rolled his eyes as he said that. "I honestly have no clue."
Jellal can understand Elden's hesitation. To be a mage recognised as one of the ten strongest mages in the whole of Fiore is a great honour and also a heavy responsibility to bear, so Elden's reluctance in accepting the title is understandable. Makarov had agreed to take up the title in the first place many years back because it is easier to protect the guild from the Magic Council as a member of the Ten Wizard Saints, but now that Makarov had officially retired from that position and also retired from the position of Fairy Tail's Guild Master, there is no one left to protect Fairy Tail from the Magic Council should they try once again to diminish the guild's strength because of their paranoia. Fairy Tail is indeed growing to be too strong to be controlled by the Magic Council alone and that is not considering the alliances the guild has with other notable legal guilds in Fiore. The nail that sticks out gets hammered down. As S Class mages, they understand this logic better than anybody else.
However, to be a Ten Wizard Saint is to also be answerable to the citizens of Fiore, people which the mages who had held onto those titles had sworn to protect. To be a Ten Wizard Saint is to not only protect your guild, but also the whole of Fiore. There are times where you have to choose Fiore over your guild. Thus lies the dilemma which Elden is now facing. He doesn't really have an ambition to protect the whole of Fiore. All he wants is to be the Ace of the guild and protect its members and also to be a loving husband and a doting father.
In the end, Jellal found that he has no words of wisdom to offer. Still, he tries.
"Just do what you think is best. To accept the title of a Wizard Saint is a huge responsibility. Even Gildarts didn't take it up when he was clearly strong enough to be one."
"If only those idiots would stop destroying public property willy nilly then maybe I would not even need to consider the Magic Council's offer in the first place." Elden muttered darkly and Jellal cannot help but let out a laugh at that. Well, that's Fairy Tail for you.
There's a knock on the door.
"Daddy? You in there?"
With one swift motion, the runes disappeared, allowing Mirel to open the door and come in. A sleepy looking Mirel opened the door with a bleary look in her eyes, obviously having just woken up from her nap. She brightened up immediately upon spotting him.
"Uncle Jellal!"
With a run, hop, and a leap his niece ran up and jumped into his arms. Jellal caught his niece with practiced ease.
"You're back! You're back!"
"Yup! I will be able to stay for a little longer this time."
"Yay! So this means we can play!"
"Uh huh." Jellal nodded gesturing towards the paper bag that he had left at a side. "Guess what I bought for you on the way home?"
"Jel." Elden deadpanned. "We talked about this. You really need to stop pampering Mirel."
"Daddy~"
"Guilty as charged." Jellal said with an unrepentant grin as he brought out the fox plushie and waved it at Mirel's face. "Guess what? A fox plushie!"
"So cuuuuuute!" Mirel squealed in delight as she hugged the plushie close to her.
"What do you say when someone gives you a gift?" Elden looked towards his daughter and gave her the look. Mirel pouted but not before facing Jellal again with a bright smile.
"Thank you Uncle Jellal! You are now back to being my best uncle again!"
"Wait, what?" Jellal reeled in a little from the shock as he looked at the little demon in his arms. "Back to being best uncle? Since when have I dropped from the No 1 spot in the Best Uncle Rankings?"
"Uhm." Mirel looked upwards and stroked her chin in thought with a very serious look on her face. "About a week ago uncle Laxus was the best uncle because he brought me out to play. Then uncle Mystogan became the best uncle for one hour because he bought me sweets, but then uncle Elfman gave me those rare and super tasty chocolates from Bosco so he was the favourite uncle until you came back! So right now you are the best uncle, then No 2 is Uncle Elfman, No 3 is Uncle Mystogan and No 4 is Uncle Laxus!"
"And it will forever remain this way." Jellal said sternly. Elfman and Laxus, he can understand, but like hell he will let his Edo lookalike usurp the position of best uncle from him.
"Buuuuuut…" Mirel begins to trail off, her eyes starting to look around and Jellal has no doubts that the little demon is cooking up some devious plans in that smart little head of hers but everyone just falls for her plans anyway. "What if… I mean what if, someone else, let's say… Uncle Natsu? Or maybe Uncle Gajeel? Give me something better than a plushie and then-"
"Let's go to town and find you some more plushies, okay?" Jellal cuts his niece off as they start to walk out of the door, ignoring the look Elden is giving them. Elden and Mira had a lot to say to the entire guild when it comes to spoiling Mirel and giving her gifts out of the blue but nobody in the guild ever listens. Mirel really has the entire guild wrapped around her little finger and everybody just willingly let themselves dance in her little palm and fall for her devious schemes.
Well, can't blame them. Mirel is just too adorable and smart.
"Yay! Bye Daddy! See you later!" Mirel happily waved at her father, who merely sighed tiredly and waved goodbye in return but not before telling her one last thing.
"Only one plushie."
"Okie!"
"And then Uncle Jellal give me this reeeeeeeaally big bear plushie-"
Mirajane Tyrell doesn't know if she should reprimand her daughter for finding loopholes around her father's words or be amused at the fact that she is smart enough to do so. Her husband had only allowed her to pick one plushie and then their little demon got her uncle to buy her the biggest plushie in the shop. Technically, still one plushie.
"What? Jellal pulled off such a manly move?! Argh! Don't worry, Mirel! Uncle Elf will-"
"You will not." Mirajane cuts her brother off before he can go around spoiling Mirel again, a big bowl of soup in hand as she lays it out on the dining table. It is a rare occasion today for everyone to be here in Magnolia, so they will be having dinner together right here at home. Lisanna and Evergreen are helping out in the kitchen. Jellal is catching up on some lost sleep in his room because he had just returned from a mission. He should have just slept instead of bringing Mirel out to buy the enormous plushie the size of a full grown adult that now sits in the corner of the living room, simply because there's nowhere else to put it.
"Mummy~"
Mira gave her daughter a look and that shut her up immediately.
"What did I say about accepting gifts from your aunts and uncles?"
"Say thank you…?"
"You don't manipulate them to get you to give you gifts." Mirajane corrected her daughter as she pulled on her ear lightly, knowing that her daughter is definitely smart enough to know what she meant. Mirel is using her smarts to keep getting everyone to give her presents to be on the top of her "Best Uncle" and "Best Aunt" rankings. Mirel's aunts are still okay, but the so-called ranking system that Mirel created for her uncles and the men's egoistic pride is what fuels Mirel's toy collection. Everybody is determined to be Mirel's "Best Uncle" and outdo everybody else.
"Dinner is about to be ready soon, go wake your Uncle Jellal up." Mira instructed her daughter. Her daughter's face lit up into a smile and she quickly bounced towards Jellal's room.
"You really need to stop spoiling Mirel." Mira chided her brother the moment Mirel was out of earshot. Elfman gave her a sheepish grin.
"But nee-san-"
"But?" She questioned, eyebrows quirked up in challenge and daring him to complete his sentence.
"But nothing." Her brother wisely took the hint and ended the topic of discussion. The silence was broken in the next second by that rowdy daughter of hers.
"UNCLE JELLAL! WAKE UP! IT'S DINNER TIME!"
Mirajane does not need to be on the scene to know that her daughter just woke Jellal up by screaming into his ear.
"MIREL TYRELL! Where are your manners?! You don't wake your elders up like that! Come over here right now!" Mira found herself shouting across the house when her daughter started to misbehave again. She and her husband sure as hell didn't teach her to act so rudely towards her elders. Seriously? Will there ever be a day where this misbehaving daughter of theirs stop making her blood pressure rise? Their daughter is going to be the death of her, she just knew it.
"We are here~"
The front door was opened just at that moment and Yukino poked her head in. She looked around before calling out once more.
"Where's my cute little Mirel~"
"Aunt Yukino!"
Mirel emerged from Jellal's room in a blur and latched onto Yukino. Sorano entered the house right after Yukino did.
"Oh, hi Aunt Sorano! Hi hi!"
"Hello Mirel." Sorano greeted her with a smile. "We could hear you waking Jellal up from outside."
"Mirel." Mira growled. "I haven't forgotten what you just did. Come over here."
"She's just a kid, Mira-nee. Give her a break, she's only four." Yukino came to Mirel's defense as per usual while lifting her up in her arms.
"All the more we need to instill some manners in her before it's too late." Mirajane gave her daughter one last look, the we will talk later clear in her eyes. She is going to have a loooong talk with her daughter later on how to properly talk to and greet her elders. Waking her uncle Jellal up by screaming into his ear is definitely a no go.
"Where's El-niichan?" Yukino asked after she looked around.
"He went to the guild to take some paperwork home to complete later. He should be back soon." Mira replied as she ordered her daughter to go help set the table. If this little demon has so much energy to spare then she might as well put it into good use. This time, Mirel didn't protest nor did she put up a fuss, knowing that she is already in big trouble.
"Good afternoon everyone, or is it evening?" Jellal emerged from his room with a yawn.
"Hi Jellal! Long time no see!" Yukino greeted cheerily. "When are you going to put the ring on Erza's finger?"
The face of the ex-Wizard Saint turned beet red within a second, much to the amusement of everyone present.
"W-W-What r-r-ring?!"
"Erza would be so sad if she heard what you just said, you know." Lisanna lamented as she emerged from the kitchen, a plate of chicken in hand which she placed on the dining table. "Oh, woe is her. Right, Ever?"
"I'd thought Alzack and Bisca were bad enough when they were dating, and then now we have Jellal and Erza." Evergreen gave her two cents on this issue and Jellal's face turned even redder. "The bet is still ongoing, you know?"
Mirel perked up immediately.
"There's a bet? Can I join? Pleaseeee~ Please Please Please-"
"Mirel."
"But mummy-"
"No. Betting. Until you are eighteen."
"But Aunt Cana said-"
"Said what?" Mira let her demonic side show a little and her daughter wisely kept her mouth shut. She's only four. Where, how, and who did she learn betting from? Some of her guildmates really are bad influences.
"Huh, everybody's here already. Did I miss anything?" Elden got back home right at that moment, a stack of paperwork in hand that is neatly bound together.
"Your daughter not only lacks manners, but is learning how to gamble. Do something." Mira glared at her husband, who like her, gave Mirel a look.
"I'm disappointed in you, Mirel."
And just like that, Mirel's facial expression visibly crumbled and looked down at her feet, giving off the vibe of a kicked puppy. Somehow, a single sentence by her husband can easily discipline their misbehaving daughter. Somehow, her husband's words are always much more effective than her scolding Mirel for her misbehaviour. If this ability of his is a form of magic then she really wants to learn it from him.
"I'm sorry, daddy. Please don't be mad, please~" Mirel tugged on Elden's pants, who merely shook his head and gave a slightly exaggerated sigh as he walked towards his study to put down his paperwork. The rest of the adults present all watched on in silent amusement as Mirel obediently trotted after her father, pleading for forgiveness the entire way.
"Well, El-niichan sure knows how to keep Mirel in line."
"Can't argue with that."
"El is a true man."
"Mira-nee annoys El, he keeps Mirel in line, and Mirel frustrates Mira-nee?"
"Apt description."
"I'll just pretend I never heard anything." Mira spoke up before letting her demonic side leak out a little, silencing everyone else.
"Now sit down at the table, the whole lot of you. Dinner is starting."
"Yes ma'am!"
After dinner it is pretty much chill time for everybody. Mirel used this time to pester him to learn more about his brand of magic and so like the doting uncle that he is, Jellal gave her a quick rundown on Heavenly Body Magic from where they are sitting on the couch in the living room.
"Heavenly Body Magic is a unique form of magic, being both a form of Caster and Holder magic. Do you still remember what I taught you about the differences between Caster and Holder magic?"
"I know, I know! Caster magic is when you release magic from your body! Like, uh, you don't need the help of other objects and stuff like that! Like mummy's Take Over! Holder magic is when you use magic through something else! Like, uncle Mystogan's staves!"
"Bravo!" Jellal ruffled his niece's hair with a laugh. If there is one thing Mirel took after her father, it is his interest in magic. While Mirel had not unlocked her ability to use magic yet due to her young age, it is not hard to see that she will grow to be a powerful one. Already, they all could sense the latent magic power within her. It is a very big reservoir of magic for a child so young.
It is not uncommon to see Mirel asking the adults in the guild questions after questions about their magic. Not only is she always curious, she learns extremely fast. There's no hiding her intellect and she's only four. Even an ex-Wizard Saint like him could not foresee just how powerful a mage Mirel will grow to be with her rate of progress.
"Heavenly Body Magic is classified as both Caster and Holder magic because there are two ways you can use this magic. What I usually do is to generate and manipulate the power of the stars from my body, that part of my magic is the Caster side of it."
"Then when you do things like calling the giant piece of rock from the sky is Holder? What's the name of that spell again? Se..."
"Sema. Yes, that is one way I use the Holder aspect of my magic. Heavenly Body Magic is unique in the sense that it also requires the user to rely on astronomical objects and use their properties for battle. Like when I use Meteor to fly, I use the property of speed from real meteors. That side of it is the Holder side of it."
"So cool! If only my magic is like Heavenly Body Magic, both Caster and Holder!"
"You don't want to use your daddy's Barrier magic or your mummy's Take Over?"
"Both their magic are cool." Mirel agreed with a sagely nod of her head. "But I want to be something different! I know! I will learn both their magic and add it on to mine!"
"Don't be too greedy." Jellal lightly poked at his niece's forehead to get her to focus. "There's a reason why most mages only specialise in one type of magic in their entire lives. Learning more than one branch of magic is not as easy as it sounds."
"Why?"
"The type of magic you use shapes your magic container." Jellal patiently explained. At this point, he is explaining the more advanced concepts of magic to his four year old niece but if she can understand what he is talking about, why not? Mirel's a little genius anyway.
"Shape…?"
"You know how Natsu uses fire based magic, right?"
"Uh huh."
"What is the very opposite of fire?"
"Water? Or ice! Like uncle Gray's ice- oh. I see! Water and fire don't go well together! That's why it is hard to learn both fire and water magic at the same time! They just don't get along, so there's no space to put both of them in your magic container! Same for fire and ice!"
"You got the gist of it. Smart girl." Jellal nodded in approval, accepting the super simplified and somewhat flawed explanation. He will correct her mistakes when she gets older because he doubts she will be able to understand any further explanations on his part at her age, genius or not.
"I know I'm smart!" Mirel crossed her stubby arms across her chest and looked up at him proudly with her chin up high. "I already memorised the multiplication table all the way to 12 x 12! 12 x 12 =144!"
"6 x 6?"
"36!"
"7 x 8?"
"56!"
Huh, his niece really did learn her multiplication table. But still, multiplication table. What is Elden teaching Mirel at four years old? No four year old should be learning the multiplication table at their age.
Then again, this is Mirel he is looking at.
"But, uncle Jellal! Isn't magic supposed to do the impossible? In that case, I will learn all the magic in the world! If there's no space in my magic container I will make space to learn every single magic ever! Or learn uncle Mystogan's Repeater Magic! Then I can use everyone's magic!"
"Heavenly Body Magic is better." Jellal quickly diverted Mirel's train of thoughts away from his Edo lookalike. He can accept losing the title of Ten Wizard Saint, S Class Mage, and even the title of Mirel's Best Uncle, but there is no damn way he is losing to Mystogan in Mirel's Best Uncle Ranking System.
"But Repeater Magic can use Heavenly Body Magic too?"
"But it will never be as good as the original. Heavenly Body Magic uses the power of astronomical objects in space, the potential is as limitless as what the universe entails. Repeater Magic can never replicate that. So, learn Heavenly Body Magic."
"What if I learn your Heavenly Body Magic and uncle Mystogan's Repeater Magic?"
Jellal took a brief pause. It seems that there's no shaking Mirel's idea of learning everyone's magic out of that queer little head of hers.
"In that case, you learn Heavenly Body Magic first before learning his Repeater Magic. Okay?"
"Okay!"
He held out his pinky finger to Mirel.
"Pinky promise."
"Pinky promise!"
There, one for him, zero for Mystogan.
Take that, Mystogan. Jellal Fernandez is definitely the better uncle out of the two.
AN: I know this is a long awaited chapter for you guys, so here you guys go. In case it still isn't obvious enough, the timeline now is at five years after Tenrou.
On a side note, while I'm glad that many people like this story, please do not spam me PMs to hurry with my updates, be it TAOFT or any of your favourite stories. For one, I am doing this for free, because writing is a hobby I indulged in only when I am free. Secondly, I have my own life to lead. My life doesn't revolve around fanfiction alone. Thirdly, I do not have any obligations to answer to your every whim and want. There is a fine line between asking and demanding. Sending me PMs that demand me to hurry and update do not get you chapters any faster. If anything else, it kills my mood and motivation to write whenever I read those PMs sent by self-entitled brats that thinks the entire world revolves around them and them alone. I do not want to blacklist anyone but if the situation continues to persist, I will for the sake of my sanity.
Onto a lighter note, the story is now heading towards the remaining three big canon arcs. Namely, GMG, Tartaros, and Alvarez. I will try not to disappoint. Personally, I am trying to hurry and complete TAOFT as soon as possible so that I can focus on my other works, but we will see.
If anybody wants to talk to me in person, you can come find me on a discord server that I joined some months back. It is a server for writers, betas, and readers to come together and discuss their ideas, or just chill in general and have fun. At the very least, communication is a lot easier on discord than using ffnet's PM function, so if you guys want to talk to me and come say hi or are simply interested in seeing what the server is about, I will leave the link below for you guys.

Other than that, hope you enjoy this chapter. Hopefully I can get another chapter out by tomorrow. Hopefully.
