Six Episodes before the opent the tomb in canon. This season will be very different...I am happy to accept that my canon is just different then the OG series.
Ever notice that Caroline is neglected pretty badly by her family, I didn't till I read a fanfiction that pointed it out bit holy crap her jealousy towards Elena made so much more sense when I thought about it like that...
"Are you sure it's this is the image?"
The sound of Damon's voice made Stefan shiver, though he avoided looking at his brother as a wave of guilt over took him. Internal plans to betray his brother did not gel with the overwhelming happiness his brother was literally glowing with. Even his sarcasm seemed uplifted, happy and close to bursting.
At the moment, his brother was talking to Samantha who had her eyes closed as she allowed her fingers to dip into the blood of the dead bird before her. " Yes... it's like laurels wrapped around something... and I see a corpse, holding the book... a body, in the woods I can't... " She opened her eyes, sighing with a hungry look. "I can see a lot but it's fuzzy. It is buried with someone, and when I tried to focus on them, I got that symbol... it looks so familiar, I can't just..." She bit her lip, looking at Damon...
None of them looked at him, and the aha moment that blossomed in his eyes. No one but Elena and Lexi, who knew him well enough to almost sense his sudden shift. He recognized the symbol and he knew where it was buried.
'Our Family's coat of arms and a corpse... Father, you have the Grimoire. Even in Death you are trying to stop the vampires of this town from reeking havoc.' Hatred for his monstrous father aside, he could not help but admire his perservence and conviction. It was something fierce, something Stefan wished he had more of. Much as Damon would hate to admit it, he had a lot of their father in him, including the single minded conviction.
Plotting began before he could stop it and he knew what he had to do.
"That does sound familiar, could you draw it?"
Samantha's laughter, no matter how sweet, seemed a cruel reminder of the evil deed Stefan was planning. "Not even a little. There's a pointy bit at the top and what looks like tassels on the bottom. I can't get any more specific then that, not that the spell would allow me."
"Wait... my ring." Vicki's words, soft as they were, drew everyone's attention. "It has no design, but I asked Damon why his did... that symbol, it's your coat thingie you said your dad was really proud about."
'Damn!' Stefan froze, turning to Vicki with an ounce of annoyance, knowing his plans were foiled.
The bright look in Damon's eyes only drove home how screwed he was. " Our coat of arms... like this only without the D." Damon turned, helping Samantha up as he showed her his ring.
'I can't let him get it...' He turned to Lexi, eyes wide as he nodded to Damon. She understood and in an flash Damon and Vicki's necks were snapped and Samantha was unconscious.
Elena looked around, terrified. " What the hell?"
"I know where the Grimoire is, we can't let him get the tomb open, Elena. Twenty Seven vampires Elena. The town would burn."
Her eyes wide and filled with pain, Elena nodded. " Alright, let's go get it."
"You two go ahead, I'll keep them down." Lexi kneeled next to Damon, knowing he'd wake up first due to age and strength. "Do what you have to, I'll enjoy this." Her smile gave wings to his legs.
"Thank you." Was all he said before he grabbed Elena close, vanishing as quickly as he could, but not before taking Samantha's talisman. " Her magic is half powered without this. That should keep her from hurting you or turning off your ring."
"You think they are walking around during the day... well that... that beats my theory, but how." Logan Fell sat back, tired and kind of pained, looking at women before him. Liz Forbes was a hard women to argue with, passionate but calm she was not the kind of person you just argued. She was usually right and she knew it. "That'd explain how we aren't finding any with out night trips. I thought they may have just left town already."
Liz tipped her head from side to side, considering his words. " That's also possible but I can't shake the feeling that they are still here. Regardless we have to be vigilant, keep the compass on you at all times. Check it randomly... and I need you to meet up with Samantha Gilbert. If she's the one to give us that watch, then maybe she knows something we don't."
"Are we sure it's her, I know what I said before but she's a kid."
"A kid who has been training hard, getting into shape and training others just as vampires have started coming back to Mystic Falls. I saw her the other day, when going by to check up on Caroline's cheerleading practice, her arms were twice the size they used to be. She was outpacing some of the football kids and half off the track kids." Shaking her head, she sighed. " Even if she didn't give us the compass, she knows something. We need to know what. Your the only one in a position to ask her."
That made him sigh, irritation spiking. "She's the reason I'm not dating Jenna at all, she told us both in no uncertain terms that I was trash before and I'll always be trash. She actually dragged Jenna and away and slammed the door in my face." That there was a slight glimmer of appreciation in Liz's eye annoyed the reporter far more then he wanted to admit.
"Then prove that you've changed, start with Samantha and get the information from her if you need to... now, I need to get going. Damon Salvatore has some Vervain and I need to pick it up early. I had to pick up another shift today so I can't get to our meeting."
With that, Liz booted him out of the office and all but charged away, acting like she owned the world... which she kind of did.
"How am I going to get someone as judgmental and bossy as Samantha Gilbert to think I've changed? Be easier just to kill the vampires and get it over with." Frustrated and annoyed, Logan toddled off, trying to fix his situation and figure out how to make the impossible happen. "What the..." The flitting sound of the compass broke through his annoyance. Looking down he watched at it turned flitting between two spots... "Huh... maybe there's a start."
"Ow... my head..." It was the pain that woke Samantha, it was the emptiness that came from lacking her talisman that brought her to full attention, standing in shock and looking about in horror. "Vicki!" She tried throwing herself at her almost girlfriend, only to be stopped by Lexi. "What's wrong with you, she's unconscious... what did you do!"
Lexi actually cringed, sighing. "Twenty Seven Vampires."
"In a tomb!" The urge to stab the girl in front of her was intense, almost as much as the urge to dispel her daylight ring... something she couldn't do without her talisman to extend her range. "They are trapped, don't you find that horrible. As long as Stefan and Damon have been vamps. They deserve to be free. No crime should have an eternal punishment."
Honestly it seemed at if her words were getting to Lexi for a minute, after cringing she actually seemed to be digesting the words with some sadness. "I can't-Wait, someone's coming." Her eyes were wide and she vanished, leaving Samantha to fall to the ground and try to wake up Damon and Vicki.
"Snapped Necks, damn it."
"Samantha, what did you do?" The voice was only a little familiar, making her look up to see a very handsome and annoying Logan Fell. "How did you get both of them."
"Both of wh- you have the compass!" The words spilled from her lips before she could stop them, making her curse herself inside.
He blinked, a smug smirk crossing his face. "The Mayor gave it to me, said I was the one in the field the most. Bet you didn't figure that when you gave it to us."
"Gave it to..."Her eyes widened and a plan fell into heart. "I didn't give it to you. It was supposed to go to Liz Forbes, she has a gun on her and she had combat training. She'd be the most likely to survive." She fit her lip for a moment. "How do you know about vampires. I get the others, but how do you?"
"Family story and looking our history. There is a long history of vampires in this town, I think they came back more the once, not just in the civil war era." His smirk turned meaner. "And who said that I have no gun?"
With a swagger he pulled out a gun, then screamed as Lexi returned, biting into his throat for a moment before throwing him across the forest, right into a tree.
"Stop!" Charging forward, Samantha socked Lexi in her gut and turned while grabbing her arm. She almost heard a stunned Lexi choke as she was flipped over by a tiny human. "Enough!" Quickly, she lashed out with a harsh kick to Lexi's temple, faltering slightly when Lexi grabbed her ankle and literally tossed her away.
By the time she looked up, Lexi had vanished with Damon and Vicki in tow.
"Shit... "
"How did you do that, ugh." Logan, who was slowly sitting up against the tree he was thrown into, managed to groan out. "That was incredible." He muttered, coughing painfully into one hand while the other held his gaping neck wound. "Your dad must have trained you well."
Deciding to go with it, even if she wanted to kill Lexi and Stefan for what they just did, she marched over to Logan and started patching him up, tearing her clothes to do so. " He never did. I only learned that they existed before he died and even that was an accident. No one else in the family knows, so keep quiet."
"I'll try... how did you know about the compass."
"Dad told me... figured it would be better in the hands of the council, when I found it. Now be quiet, I need to focus so I don't let you bleed out."
As she fixed him up, she could not help but think to her self.
'Lexi the second I see you again, you are losing your ring and so is Stefan. Your so grounded... why would you betray us like this? What do you get out of it? Why do you hate Vampires so freaking much Stefan?'
"Are you sure Stefan?" Elena, shovel in hand, looked at her lover almost unable to really believe they were doing this. That it would come to this. "He's your father... and Damon would never forgive you. I am positive Samantha is never going to forgive me."
He turned to her, eyes cold and serious. "Then why are you helping me Elena?"
"Because it's worth it and because this town doesn't deserve to be destroyed. It's my home."
"That's why I am doing this... for my home."
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
Short but fun, I liked this chapter a lot.
