The next morning, Dillon and Aurora head back to the Pokemon Center to check on Granite as well as letting him know they're alive. Aurora wants to invite him to dinner after they challenge Lt. Surge that afternoon. Since it is a Saturday, Aurora's siblings do not have school, so they are excited to watch the battle.
"I wasn't worried." Granite states nonchalantly while eating his toast in the Pokemon Center cafeteria.
"Really?" Aurora questions him. The man nods.
"Yeah. I knew you were with your family, and I don't exactly know Dillon as someone who is where he's supposed to be." Granie smirks at the teenage boy. Dillon rolls his eyes.
"Whatever. Let's train." he tells the group.
"Wait." Granite interrupts. "Did you two do anything last night?" He asks the teens teasingly. Their faces turn bright red.
"She's a scrawny cry baby!" Dillon exclaims.
"And he's an asshole!" Aurora proclaims. Granite bursts out laughing.
"What are you two talking about? I meant like any interesting battles." he winks at them, but all three knew what he was really referring to. The teens shoot glares at him before getting up to train outside. "This is too easy, and too much fun." he laughs to himself before getting up to join them.
As Granite makes his way to the open field outside, he notices his travel partners bickering. "This is how dad said Uncle Ash and Aunt Misty flirted." He thinks to himself.
"I am not scrawny, you asshole!" Aurora exclaims to Dillon.
"You're weak regardless! At least I can accept that I'm an asshole!" Dillon retorts.
"If I'm so weak, how come I beat you in a battle? And you had the advantage!"
Dillon glares at her. "Fine. Right here, right now, Lightfield. Rematch!"
"Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Children. Calm down." Granite interjects them before Pika and Pachirisu can zap their trainers. "If you battle now, your pokemon will be too tired for the gym later."
"I don't care. I'm tired of her rubbing in my face that win last week!" Dillon says angrily.
"Same! Tomorrow is Sunday! There's no school on Sundays. My siblings can watch me then!" Aurora glares back at the teenage boy. Granite looks at the electric mice and all 3 roll their eyes.
"Fine. Suit yourselves." He walks over to officiate the battle.
30 minutes later
"Pachirisu is unable to battle! Dillon and Pika win!" Granite announces. Although Dillon won, it was an intense battle. Coal had managed to beat Venus, but Venus had already dealt a lot of damage to the fire type. It didn't take much for Pachirisu to finish the job. Without the surprise irontail move this time, Dillon was able to barely defeat Pachirisu. The group returns to the Pokemon Center to heal their pokemon, and Aurora calls her family to let them know that she will be challenging the gym tomorrow. Duke still invites the group for dinner, so the trio head out to Aurora's house while leaving their pokemon to rest at the Pokemon Center.
"At least I'm not butt-hurt, like a certain asshole. Butts and assholes are right next to each other. They suit you perfectly, Dilly Boy." Aurora sticks her tongue out at Dillon. He rolls his eyes at her.
"You're just jealous I have a butt, scrawny kid."
Aurora glares at him. "I too have a butt!"
"Guys." Granite interrupts.
"Mind your own business, Granite!" the teens exclaim to the man. Granite sighs and continues walking.
"Gosh I wish Pika and Pachirisu were here to shock them." He thinks to himself.
Granite drowns out the sound of his bickering friends when he hears Aurora say, "Screw you, Dillon! I can't wait for you to pay me back for my bike!"
"Same here!" the boy exclaims back. Granite rolls his eyes at the teenagers' childish behavior.
The rest of the walk is in silence. Granite meets Aurora's siblings and helps Duke cook dinner. Fortunately, he had inherited his father's great cooking skills. Aurora helps her brothers with their homework while Dillon hangs out with LayLay. The teenagers continue to ignore each other.
"So what happened to them?" Duke asks Granite. Granite smiles.
"Lovers quarrel." The man responds. Both males laugh.
"They say they're not a thing." Duke responds with a smirk.
"Yet." Granite states.
"You're right. Anyway, Aurora has a lot of siblings. She knows how to compromise. They'll be talking again in no time." assures Duke.
Granite smirks. "You don't know Dillon. He is really an ass. And very selfish. He only cares about himself. It doesn't matter if Aurora gives in because Dillon won't do it so easily."
Duke thinks to himself before responding. "Aurora can fight her own battles. I'm sure it'll be alright." Granite looks at the boy and agrees.
"Yeah. If anyone can change that asshole, it's her." Granite acknowledges.
