Lisanna froze while tears kept rolling down along her cheeks. She couldn't find her voice nor energy to move her body. She just stood there, her eyes wouldn't leave Natsu's who were looking at Lucy. With a gaze that Lisanna desperately hoped would be able to possess one day.

But, that kind of gaze would never be hers. It wasn't supposed to be hers from the beginning, anyway.

"Lisanna, the orders are—Lisanna!" Wendy worriedly said as she stared at her crying best friend. "What is it? Are you hurt?"

Wendy's voice pulled Lisanna back. Lisanna quickly wiped her tears away and forced out a smile. "N—no, it's okay. I just got some dirt in my eyes."

"Are you sure?" Wendy asked.

"Yeah. No worries." Lisanna took the tray from Wendy's hand. "I'll just take a quick break after this. I need some fresh air."

"Sure." Wendy nodded. "This place is getting quite cramped after all."

"Thanks, Wendy." Lisanna nodded back and took a deep breath. She then made her way to Natsu's table and let out her best smile. "Here are your orders."

She placed Gray and Levy's orders first, but her hand trembled when she reached Lucy's. She took another deep breath and managed to put her orders down. But the trembling went back when she reached Natsu's. She remembered the way he treated and looked at Lucy and her eyes were getting blurry from tears again.

"Lisanna?" Lucy worriedly eyed her student. "Are you okay? Why are you crying?"

"I—it's just dirt." Lisanna forced her tears to stop coming to her eyes and in one quick move, she placed Natsu's plate in front of him. But she didn't have any courage to see him. She quickly placed down their drinks and bowed down, then turned her body around and scurried away.

"Look at her, getting all embarrassed like that." Gray teased.

"Don't tease her!" Levy slapped his arm. "Poor girl. She must have been so nervous and embarrassed. She looked like she's about to cry."

"She just needs some more practice." Gray shrugged. "Anyway, let's dig in because I'm starving!"

The four of them returned to their assigned posts after lunch. This afternoon, Lucy had the duty of patrolling while the rest of them had been stationed to different posts. They didn't see Lisanna when they went out from the class-café, but neither of them gave too much thought about it. Natsu stealthily caressed Lucy's cheek gently, a silent sign of him saying 'be careful'. Lucy parted with them in front of Lisanna's class.

Lucy visited a few classes after that, making sure that the students didn't have any troubles. She then walked towards the back garden to catch some fresh air before resuming her patrolling duties. By the time she got there, she was surprised to see Lisanna was there already. The white-haired young girl was leaning her back against a tree, folding her knees and placing her arms on top of them. She buried her face inside, and she sobbed.

It was only a faint sobbing, but Lucy could see how hard her shoulders shook.

"Lisanna!" Lucy called as she ran towards her. She crouched in front of her. "Are you okay? Did you get hurt somewhere?"

"Don't touch me!" Lisanna yelled and quickly lifted her head. Her eyes were red and puffy, and tears were strolling down. She swatted Lucy's hand away hard.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Lucy asked confusedly.

"Go away!" Lisanna spat, anger filled her eyes.

"Lisanna?" Lucy blinked in confusion.

"I said, go away!" Lisanna swatted Lucy's reaching hand once more. "I hate you! Go away!"

Lisanna glared at Lucy for some more seconds before burying her head back in her arms and quietly sobbed again. Lucy was stunned for a moment before annoyance slowly crept onto her face. What did she do that made Lisanna so angry?

"Look at me." Lucy said.

Lisanna obviously ignored her.

"Lisanna Strauss, look at me." Lucy repeated, her voice was getting sterner. "I am your teacher."

Lisanna lifted her head again, this time she glared at Lucy not only with anger but with hatred as well. "So, you think you can do whatever you want just because you're a teacher?!"

"It's not that." Lucy let out a sigh. "You're obviously angry with me. Did I do something wrong?"

Lisanna's patience seemed to snap. "Did you just ask me whether you did something wrong?! How blind can you be?!"

"Hey, that's impolite, young lady!" Lucy warned.

"Do I look like I care whether I'm being polite or not?!" Lisanna shouted.

"Lisanna, if I did something wrong, tell me what is it." Lucy said patiently.

"Why? Just so you can say 'sorry'?" Lisanna hissed. "I don't need your 'sorry'!"

Lucy's annoyance meter went one level up. "I won't say sorry if I didn't feel like I did something wrong."

"YOU LIED!" Lisanna screamed and she stood up in rage. More tears were flowing down her eyes, and her glare turned even angrier.

Lucy blinked in confusion. "What are you talking about?"

"You're still denying it?!" Lisanna said.

Lucy also stood up and stared back at Lisanna. "Like I said, what are you talking about?"

"NATSU-SENSEI!" Lisanna yelled at the top of her lungs. "I saw what he did to you back at the class-café! I saw how he looked at you!"

Lucy was getting even more confused. Did Natsu do something weird back at the class-café? Didn't seem so. And the way he looked at her? That was the same look as ever. How come Lisanna was so angry about it?

"I'm not blind!" Lisanna shouted. "The way he looked at you said it all! He loves you, doesn't he!"

Lucy widened her eyes a bit and cursed inwardly. Of course she didn't feel Natsu did something weird or looked at her in a weird way, because that was how he always acted around her for a long time! Of course Gray and Levy didn't find it strange either, because they knew about their marriage already.

But for outsiders, Natsu's eyes showed his feelings out loud.

Lucy started to get panic. How could she calm Lisanna down? She couldn't risk having her announcing the romance between her and Natsu, or the two of them would have to say good-bye to their teaching careers in this school!

Okay Lucy, chill., Lucy commanded herself inwardly. You've been in this situation before, so let's chill.

Lucy took a deep breath. "Okay Lisanna, I think you're reading way too much into this matter again."

"No, I don't!" Lisanna glared. "I know what I saw!"

"Do you know how misleading someone's sight is?" Lucy asked.

"I'm not stupid!" Lisanna retorted. "Anyone can see the love in Natsu-sensei's eyes when he looked at you!"

Lucy was still trying to be rationale. "Lisanna, listen—"

"That's why neither Levy-sensei nor Gray-sensei found it strange for the two of you to hang out all by yourselves!" Lisanna cut. "They knew, didn't they?!"

"Well, no—"

"That's why you and Natsu-sensei were annoyed when I'm pestering you two about the nature of your relationship, isn't it?!"

"Lisanna, you know what you did isn't—"

"YOU LIED! I HATE YOU!"

Lucy's patience finally snapped. "Fine!" she hissed. "Yes, you're right. Natsu loves me and I love him."

That was more than enough to choke Lisanna's breath. She stared at Lucy in disbelieve, her anger was now mixed with more hatred and hurt. Her tears couldn't stop anymore.

"And I can understand now why you're so angry." Lucy sighed. "But Lisanna, we—"

"You…" Lisanna infuriatedly fisted her hands. "You lied about not being in a relationship with him…"

"No. I didn't lie about that." Lucy spat in annoyance.

"You're still saying that nonsense?!" Lisanna suddenly grabbed Lucy'c collar, surprising the latter. "How can you still say something like that when I saw Natsu-sensei's—"

Lisanna's breath hitched once more as her eyes caught something glinting around Lucy's neck. A ring.

Lucy's heart thumped faster instantly, and she shook her body away from Lisanna. She quickly gripped her collar tight. Lisanna's hand slumped weakly onto her sides.

"Not in a relationship…" Lisanna muttered weakly. She knew what ring that was. It was a wedding ring. "You guys… You guys are married…"

Lucy cursed inwardly. How could she be so careless?

"Ha… Haha… Hahaha…." Lisanna started to laugh. "I… I love someone who already has a wife… Hahaha…"

Lucy's annoyance was replaced with guilt immediately. She hugged Lisanna tight. "I'm sorry, Lisanna…"

"Hahaha…" Lisanna were still laughing although she didn't shove Lucy's body away. Instead, she hit her back repeatedly. "Hahaha… I love someone else's husband…"

Lucy kept her hug tight. Lisanna's laugh and her hits on Lucy's back died down as pain struck her two-folds this time. She hugged Lucy back and cried her hearts out in Lucy's warm hug.

"UWAAAAA!" Lisanna wailed.
