A/N: What's up CAM fans I'm back with the next to last chapter of this epic journey. And this chapter Carly will make the choice. So without further adue let's get going. This chapter picks up like right after the last one.
Choices in love:
Carly made her way downstairs in her sleep shorts and tank top. The smell of pancakes and bacon filling her nose. "Umm something smells good," she said. Smiling as her girlfriend made the perfect pancake flip.
"My world famous bacon pancakes," said the blonde cooking in only a sports bra and boy shorts.
"You know they're not famous if you steal it from Adventure Time" the dreadlocked girl said sitting at the center island.
"Well no seconds for you," Sam said placing the plate in front of her girlfriend. And standing between her legs.
"Who says its the pancakes I want seconds of," Carly said placing her hand just inside her lovers underwear.
"I thought you wanted to sleep," the blonde girl said. Leaning in for a kiss and letting out a low moan as her lover's fingers brushed her clit.
"I've slept now… I want to play," the dreadlocked girl said. As she slow started fingering the blonde.
"Ummm well then let's have a little play time with breakfast," the blonde said pulling Carly into a deep kiss as. She reached down her girlfriend's shorts!
"Hey I smell pan…..OHHH GOD!," Spencer said walking into the kitchen. Finding the two teenagers in sexual embrace and covering his eyes. "No sex in the kitchen! Sam try to wear pants! I'm gonna , OH GOD!," Carly's older brother said as he walked away red faced.
The two girls burst into a massive fit of laughter. But made no effort to move from their position. "So now that we've freaked out my brother. What do you want to do with the rest of our day?," Carly asked
"I say we play and eat then to the movies and get milkshakes," Sam said her hand still inside Carly's shorts.
"That sounds like an excellent," Carly said.
Some time later Sam brought her jeep to a clunky stop in the parking lot of the mall. "Fuck the breaks are going now?," she cursed. Hitting the stirring wheel.
"Maybe it's time you think about putting her down?" Carly said. Putting her hand on her shoulder.
"How," Sam sighed, "with my arm in this damn cast I've barley been able to make any money?," she continued. "So I'd be without a car"
"I mean if money is the issue I could loan it to you," Carly said. "I have the trust fund money. And I know if I ask him he'd let me…,"
"No cupcake that's money for school," Sam said, "If I need to get a new car I'll pay for it."
"Rowdy I want to help," the dreadlocked girl said.
"I know baby but this is something that I have to do on my own," Sam said.
"Stubborn," Carly said, "But I love you," she said.
"I love you too baby," Sam said.
"Come on lets go get some milkshakes before this movie starts," Carly said.
"Only you would want milkshakes in February," the blonde said as they exited the jeep
"You like bacon I like sweets," Carly said. As they walked the short distance to the door of the ice cream shop.
Once inside Carly saw something that made her instantly brim with anger. Their in a tucked in corner was Devin her other girlfriend. Kissing another college aged girl. Not being one to just be apprently cheated on without confronting the cheater. Stormed over to the two, and struck Devin with a hard and direct punch to the jaw. Knocking the older girl out of her chair. Drawing the looks of the other patrons.
"What the fuck Carly!," Devin said holding her jaw as she picked herself up.
"So this is basketball practice!?," Carly screamed.
"Breeze bae who is this!?," the unknown girl asked.
"Who am I I'm her girlfriend who the fuck are you?!"
"Girlfriend!No I'm her girlfriend have been since before Chirstmas!," the still yet unnamed girl said.
"Christmas! You know what sweetie ya'll go talk come on Row…..," she said turning and not seeing Sam. She quickly ran from the ice cream shop seeing Sam pull off in her jeep. "ROWDY!" seeing nothing but the jeep's taillights.
Feeling embarassed and down trodden by the whole situation Carly sat on the curb and pulled out her phone. "Hey could you come pick me up… yeah I'll explain just pick me up."
Forty five minutes later Carly got into the familiar navy blue impala. "Thanks Spence," she said.
"That's what big brothers are for kiddo," her brother said putting the car in gear. "So want to tell me what happened,"
"No," she said pouting.
"Ok but Sam doesn't seem the type to leave her girlfriend stranded at an ice cream shop," he said "But if you want me to keep bugging you,"
"Ok fine this is what happened," Carly said
"So you just left her!?," Cassie asked. Watching her friend do sit ups on the ground.
"Yep!," Sam said on seemingly her two hundredth sit up.
"Why?," Cassie asked
"I just told you why," Sam said.
"Yeah but why," Cassie asked, "Rowdy you and I both know it's deeper than that. So again I ask why?"
"I don't know," Sam said.
"Well bro that's what you have to ask,"Cassie said.
"Soo you punched out your other girlfriend in the middle of an ice cream shop. For cheating?," Spencer asked his sister.
"Uhuh," Carly said.
"And Sam just left you?," he asked.
"Yeah," she said
"Wow," Spencer said, "You fucked up bad,"
"Huh!," Carly asked shocked.
"You massivly fucked up," he said. "Carly you couldn't have excpected this arrangement to work., Devin is in college and you're a junior in high school. And as far as Sam goes you we're on a date and the second you saw Devin she she became invisible. And your second choice. Hell I would've left you too."
"Shit," Carly cursed slumping into the passenger seat. "What do I do?" she asked
"Well you have to decide that," her brother said.
"Damn," Carly said.
"Yeah I know," Spencer said as he pulled into the driveway, "Uh Carls isn't that your friend Belle?," he asked seeing a semi curled up ball on their door step
Carly sensing something was wrong jumped out of the car. "HOLY FUCK BELLE!," she said seeing her friend. She had been beaten judging from the black eye and split lip "SPENSE HELP!" she said scooping the girl up in her arms feeling blood on the back of the girl's shirt and jeans "Belle sweeetie talk to me come on what happened," she asked as Spencer picked her friend up,
"C...Carly," Belle gasped.
"I'm here sis I'm here,"
"Columbia take me to Columbia," Belle said. As Spencer and Carly laid her in the back seat.
"Carly keep her awake!," Spencer said speeding away
"Belle babe what happened," Carly said trying not to cry
"I… I got jumped by Donnie," she said fighting to stay awake. " They … they" she said passing out.
"SPENCER DRIVE!" Carly yelled
"Carly!," Kaci said. As she Mandy and Taylor ran into the ER waiting room.
"Guys!," Carly said grabbing her friends in a group hug. "Where's Rowdy and Scotland ?,"
"On the way what happened," Kaci asked tears in her eyes.
"I don't know she got jumped. Said Donnie did it all I know is we found her in bad shape," Carly said. Still shaking.
"SON OF A BITCH!," Taylor said punching a wall.
"Easy baby," Mandy said wrapping her arms around her girlfriend.
Just then a stocky middle aged man in a camo shirt and blue jeans. Burst into the ER waiting room followed by a short yet slightly chubby woman. And went to the front desk. "I'm Bobby Grimm We're here because our son Kyle Grimm is here," the man said.
"Sir we have your daughter in with the doctors," the nurse said angering the man.
"I have a son not a daughter!," Kyle's father said. Venom in his voice
"Sir I checked your child in under their preferred gender," Spencer said walking over to the couple.
"And who are you anyway," Kyle's father asked.
"I'm Spencer Shay," Spencer said, "I'm the older brother and guardian of one of your child's friends, Be... I mean Kyle was on our door step when we found him."
"Well thank you for coming but you and these kids can leave now his family is here," Kyle's father said. Glaring harshley at Carly and the girls.
"Sir with all due respect Kyle didn't call you he was against in fact," Spencer said not liking the older man's tone. Or shady looks. "Fact of the matter is he came to my sister and only asked that Carly call his other friends these girls, and I are your daughter's family," he said.
"Damn right we are," Charlie said. Walking into the waiting room flanked by Regina Cassie, and Sam.
Kyle's father looked at the new entries with the same disgust.
"Let 'em stay Bobby," Kyle's Mother said.
"Fine," Kyle's father said. Bitterly.
"Did you get a hold of Dave?," Carly asked Charlie as she came to sit by her.
"Yeah but he can't get back till tomorrow afternoon," Charlie said. Noticing Carly looking at Sam.
"I take it you two need to talk?," Charlie asked seeing the tension between the two. "So what's the heat?"
"I don't want to talk about it till I know Belle is ok," Carly said. Her hands shaking because of anxiety towards hospitals.
"Well hopefully we won't have to wait much longer," Charlie said.
The group of people waited for what seemed like hours. At times exchanging glares before a doctor finally emerged. "Is Belle Grimm's family here," The doctor said prompting her parents and the group of friends to stand up.
"I'm his father how's my boy," Kyle's father said. Almost angry.
"Well sure your daughter is tough," The doctor said in difiance of the man. "She has a concussion four broken ribs. A cracked orbital bone and she's been…. Sodomized by an object the police are on their way."
"SEE THIS WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED IF SHE WOULDN'T RUN AROUND WITH THAT DAMN FAGGOT AND THESE DYKES!," Kyle's father yelled.
"MAYBE IF YOU LOVED YOUR KID THIS WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED!," Sam said jumping up ready to use her cast to bludgen the man.
"ENOUGH!," the doctor said raising her voice. "Sir I am the head physician in this ER further more I am the mother of a trans teen. That means I will not tolerate your bigoted attitude. So since I by law only need one parent here for the cops. And I feel you're a potential threat to your child's well being. Security esscort this man out."
"We'll leave on our own come on," Bobby said motioning for his wife to come on.
"NO!," his wife said, "I'm staying with our little girl because she needs her mama," Kyle's mom said. Tears in her eyes in diffiance of her husband.
Mr. Grimm leered at his wife. And left t with the large security guard watching him leave.
"Umm now that's over is there a Scotland Scarlet, or Enigma here?," the doctor asked looking a bit confused.
"That's us," Charlie said standing up. With Carly and Kaci. "Nicknames," she explained.
"She want's to see you," the doctor said, "But I have to warn you her face looks bad and she's sedated but you can see her."
Charlie looked at Kyle's mother. Getting a nod of approval. The doctor then took the three young women back to the small cubical like room.
The three teens gave audible gasp upon seeing their nearly totally disfigured friend. The left side of Belle's face was a purple swollen mass. With her left eye swollen shut. Her lips were swollen as well. With the bottom one having visible stitches where it had been split in half.
"Mama?," Bell said in her doped up state. Looking over at her friends.
"We're here girl," Charlie said. Going over to the bed and taking Belle's hand carefully.
"Where's daddy?," Belle asked weakly.
"He'll be here tomorrow. Right now you just rest," Charlie said.
"Scarlet?," she said. Asking for her co girlfriend.
"I'm here girl," Kaci said. Coming closer to the bedside.
"I guess you're girlfriend number one now," Belle said. Managing a half smile through the numbed pain.
"No way girl one look at you and DAB is gonna have you on a leash. And spoiled," Kaci giggled through her tears.
"Belle?," Carly said, "Umm your real mom is outside," she said nervously.
"Ughh my dad too?," Belle groaned.
"Not anymore baby girl," Charlie said, "the doc her put em out. And your mom stood up to him and stayed. She even called you her little girl."
Belle let a tear fall from her good eye and said, "I'll see her in a bit but right now I want to rest,"
"Ok but I'm staying till they check you in," Charlie said.
"That's all fine and good but right now I think you all should wait outside a bit," the doctor said. Ushering the girls out of the room.
Once back in the waiting room Charlie informed everyone else of Belle's status. She then told Regina she'd be staying until Belle was moved to a private room.
Carly for her part went over to Sam and wrapped an arm around the blonde. Only to have her pull away. "Carly no," she said
"Sam why not!?," Carly said.
"Carly I love you! And I know you love me too it's just…," Sam said. Pausing to gather her words " I don't want you to choose me because you have no other choice."
"Sam I was always going to choose you!," Carly said tears starting to flow.
"Carly… In my mind I know ….. but I have to know it in my heart," Sam said her own tears starting to form. "And until I know that I can't be your girlfriend." she said walking out of the hospital into the night.
"You ok Carls?," Spencer asked.
"Take me home Spencer," Carly said dropping her head.
That night Spencer drove home. And Carly went upstairs to her room. Where she stayed the rest of the night. And all day Sunday. She laid in bed all day. Sometimes crying sometimes looking at the pictures of she and Sam. Only getting up to eat. Until she got a late night text from Kaci saying she was outside and that there as an emergency family meeting.
Reluctantly she quickly threw on sweats. Before making her way downstairs. And quickly to Kaci's car. "Where are we going?," she asked as Kaci seemed to speed in a direction.
"School parking lot. Dave's already there," Scarlet
"What about Rowdy," Carly asked.
"On the way, " Kaci said. "Look I'm not to sure what exactly happened between the two of you. But I will say this you and Sam will be back together. It's just right now her pride is hurt"
"How can you be sure," Carly said. Leaning on the passenger side window.
"I'm sure cause I've known Sam Puckett for a long time. And I've never seen her as happy as she is with you. But right now it's gonna take time," Kaci explained.
"Yeah but how long?," Carly asked.
"That's up to you two," her friend said.
"Great," Carly said with a sigh.
Soon the two pulled into the parking lot. Finding there friend's there already. David pacing angrily in front of his car. Tears in his eyes. "HE'S DEAD!," David said.
"Calm down big guy!," Taylor said.
"TO HELL WITH BEING CALM!," David yelled. "He hurt my baby girl! Your sister! He dies this ends!,"
"David I know this runs deeper than Belle. But we have to think about this." Mandy said.
"No I'm with DAB on this Donnie need's an ass whoppin bad," Kaci said. "Scotland you know he's right!,"
"Vote! that's how this family handles these decisions we fucking vote," Charlie said, "But let me say this. If we do this and it goes tits I can be deported. Sam you can go to jail and at the very least we can all be expelled. David you are putting the lives of ourselves and our family at risk."
David leaned against the hood of his car. He then let out a deep sigh. "We take our payback but no one makes the first move. Donnie does all in favor," he said getting a round of up raised hands. "Good now go home and get some rest for school."
Carly walked over to Sam's jeep. "Uhh Rowdy can I get a ride?,"
"Get in," Sam said opening the passenger door with a sigh.
Carly got into the jeep and fastened the seat belt as Sam pulled off. They road in silence. Both looking out the side of their eyes at each other. Both wanting to say so much. Both not wanting to say the wrong thing.
"I need time Carly," Sam said. Breaking the silence
"I know," Carly said, "But I want you to know I never meant to hurt you."
"I know but you did," Sam said. "But I also know that I care about you and want you around but right now I can't."
"So where does that leave us?," Carly asked. "Do we just see other people?,"
"Well I don't want to see anyone else," Sam said. "Do you want to see anyone else?"
"No," Carly said.
"So I guess that leaves us in a holding patteren for now," Sam said.
"Two star ships in the neutral zone," Carly said as the jeep came to a stop.
"Exactly," Sam said. "Umm do you want me to pick you up for school?,"
"Umm no I'll have Kaci pick me up," Carly said getting out of the jeep.
"Well see you in a few hours," Sam said.
"See you soon ," Carly said going into her house.
The next day went by at school seemingly like normal. The family went about their day going to there classes. All be it with a thick cloud of sadness, anger and paranoia. As they sat down to lunch. Everyone seemed on edge and uneasy.
"I'm just gonna say it I'm not really hungry without Belle," Taylor said toying with her food.
"Same," Cassie said. "Are we still going see her after we get out of here today?"
"Duh wolfie," Charlie said. Just as she felt her chair kicked. Causing she and everyone else to look up and see Donnie and his girlfriend. "Easy Dave," she said placing hand on David's shoulder. "Don't let him get to you."
"Yeah DAB, don't let me get to you like I got to your little 'girlfriend'," Donnie said prompting David to stand up and get in his face. Drawing the attention of the other students.
"DAB not yet," Charlie said she and the others bracing themselves.
"So you did jump Belle," David asked knowing the answer already.
"Yeah would've done more but the little faggot ran. I'm sure I'll get another chance." Donnie said giving David a shove.
"Scotland?," David asked through gritted teeth. Balling his hand into a tight fist.
"Beat his ass!," Charlie said.
David threw a punch connecting with Donnie's jaw. Before tackling him to the floor of the cafeteria. Punching him repeatedly making everyone in the cafeteria take out there phones. Charlie seeing Donnie's girlfriend trying to interfere. Charlie jumped up and speared the girl with her body. Soon Donnie's other friends moved forward prompting. Sam to swing her cast and strike a couple. While Carly and the others went on the attack. Causing the entire lunch room. To go into chaos.
And as soon as it had begun it was soon over. Both groups of teenagers being pulled apart by the school safety officer and members of the faculty. Before taking both groups to the principle's office.
All the members of the Vaniitys involved in the brawl were in the principle's main office. Each nursing their wounds and waiting for their sentence.
"You ok?," Sam asked seeing Carly rubbing her bruised knuckles.
"Yeah just one of those Sunny's had a hard head," Carly said. "What about you?"
"Fine just not looking forward to getting put in jail," Sam said looking at the blood on her cast.
"Relax we're not getting expelled," David said. "And you ain't going to jail," David said.
"I wouldn't be so sure about that," Principle Suber said as he entered his office. "I warned you bunch of delinquents that you were all on probation. One slip up and you all go down. Now I'm finally rid of you."
"Actually no they're not," Spencer said bursting into the principle's office. A well dressed black woman behind him.
"Mr Shay you have no right to," Principle Suber said being cut off.
"Actually I have every right. Not only as my sister's guardian and as the attorney of all of these kids,"Spencer said.
"Attorney?," Principle Suber said. Shocked
"Yes you see David informed me that something may happen. So I dug into there records and found an inconsistancy. Every time David or one of his friends get into any altercation with your nephew Donnie. He and his friends seem to be the only ones punished. Also David has informed me that you have a vendetta against him regaurding his being sexually assaulted by your wife," Spencer said.
"Sexually assaulted!," principle Suber yelled enraged. Turning red
"Yes sexually assaulted," the well dressed black woman said. "This boy is seventeeen the incedent happened when he was sixteen he's still a minor."
"And just who are you ?," principle Suber asked .
"Detective Cynthia Henderson," the lady said taking out her badge. "I'm her to question you as to why you didn't turn your wife in and to arrest your nephew. And his friends"
"Arrest Donnie! On what charge!," principle Suber stammered. Some of his bluster fading.
"Well let see assault and battery and sexual battery of one Kyle Grimm. Charges that are being filed by her mother," Cynthia said.
"You have no proof of that, And Kyle Grimm is a boy" Princple Suber said turning pale white.
"She identify s as female. Which makes the assault a hate crime," Spencer said. "And as for proof," he said looking over to David with a slick smile.
" Ohhhh that's where you're wrong Jimbo," David said taking out his phone. And playing back his recording of the confrontation between himself and Donnie. "I also have some interesting footage of your wife and I,"
"So Principle Suber here are your options," Spencer said in his best calm yet forceful lawyer voice. "Option one you let these kids off with a warning. And let them go home and rest for the day. My friend here arrests you nephew quietly and you drop this vendetta and you let my sister and her friends go to school in peace. Or option two you expell them and I make you front page news in seconds. Publically arresting your nephew exposing your history with these kids and your donations to certain anti LGBTQ organizations. So I suggest you take option one because either way I have your redneck balls in a vice."
Principle Suber slumped in his chair. Defeated and said, "Arrest my nephew and go home for the day,"
The teens and Spencer all walked quietly out to the parking lot seeing Regina waiting by her and David's cars. Causing Charlie to run into the older woman's arms.
"Reggie!," Charlie said kissing her. "Thanks for calling Cyn."
"Anything for you babe I'm just glad I could help the family and Belle get justice," Regina said.
"Okkk soo anybody want to clue the rest of us in?," Taylor asked.
"Yeah straight shoot what's up?," Mandy asked.
"Well children knowing I would do something. I your dear father wanted to make sure all our bases were covered so I made a few calls Spencer and Regina took care of the rest," David explained
Carly looked at her brother, and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks Spencer," she said.
" No problem kiddo," Spencer said. "Now come on let's goo see Belle,"
Valentine's Day:
"What the fuck do you mean you're not going to the gathering! Belle said. As she stopped applying make up to her still bruised eye.
"It's just that with Sam going it will be all awkward," Carly said from her bed. "And shouldn't you be home resting anyway,"
"No way," Belle said. " After being stuck in that damn hospital then at home with my mom getting to know her little girl I need to have fun," she said.
"Plus DAB tried to get her to stay home because of her ribs," Kaci said coming for Carly's bathroom in a towel. "Anyway Enigma you're going," she said.
"Scarlet no," Carly said.
"Listen you basically saved my life so I owe you," Belle said. "So straight shoot no kayfabe. Rowdy and you belong together and I'm gonna make sure you get back on track now get your ass dressed!,"
Carly let out a sigh and said "alright."
A short time later Carly found herself dressed in a pair of skinny tripps that were red on one side and black on the other. A sheer black top and her leather jacket flanked by Belle and Kaci on each side of her. As they walked into the gathering.
"Bout time you girls showed up," said David. He and the others posted by the bar.
"It takes time to look this good daddy," Belle said wrapping her arms around David. She was dressed in a black faux leather and lace cat suit and a wist length red faux fur coat. Her look rounded out by a long custom made blood red and black wig. And a pair of red riding boots and sun glasses to cover her still damaged eye.
"Well it's time well spent," David said kissing her.
"Umm careful of the lips daddy," Belle said her lips still healing .
"Yeah and her ribs big guy," Charlie said standing between Regina's legs. "No sex for you two tonight remember."
"Yeah yeah we know," David said.
"Lucky for me I love to watch," Belle said with a seductive purr.
"Well sweet sister we will certainly give you a great show," Kaci said. Giving her co-girlfriend a deep kiss.
"Enough you three," Sam said. She then looked passed them and locked eyes with Carly. Instantly feeling the familiar spark pass between them.
"Ummm guys let's go dance," Cassie said.
"Good idea," David leaving the two lovers by themselves.
Carly and Sam staired at each other. Searching the moments for words. Both wanting to say so much. But not knowing what to say. Or how to say it.
"I missed you!," both girls said at the same time. Making them both smile. Before both embraced in a hug and deep kiss.
"I love you Carly,"
"I love you too Sam,"
