Dewey Duck's Abduction

Chapter 23

"We're with you."

J. Gander slowly walked up to Darkwing Duck and whispered something in his ear. Darkwing duck's eyes flared and was saying something to him while glancing over at Webby. Webby saw this and her heart sank and squeezed Dewey's hand tighter.

She knew what they were talking about. She had hoped they'd forget, or at least rewarded her in some way for helping capture over half of the F.O.W.L agents.

She looked back over at Dewey who stared blankly ahead, as he tried remembering what he had forgotten. If only they still had some of that memory juice that Huey drank back at the at one of the F.O.W.L's lair...

"Young lady." Gander began, ignoring Darkwing's protests and coming up to her. "It's time." He told her.Violet and Lena looked at each other then came up to Webby and stood in front of her. Mrs. Beakly looked at them in alarm.

"What do you mean, it's time?" She asked, darkly, glaring at one of her superiors.

"They want the girl in custody," Darkwing answered, glaring at Gander, "because of her ties with F.O.W.L." He told her.

"WHAT!" Mrs. Beakly fumed.

"Surely you can't mean that." Scrooge told Gander. He took had a look of anger on his face. "She's just a las and -."

"It, It's fine. Uncle Scrooge." Webby said, sadly. Her heart pounded hard against her chest as she pushed passed Lena and Violet. "A deal is a deal." She went to stand next to Gander who put a gentle hand on her shoulder.

"It's not me, mind you." Gander told the others. "But some feel that this is for the best." He glanced over at Mrs. Beakly who was cracking her knuckles, and glaring at at him. "They just don't want another genteration of F.O.W.L -."

"Stupid." Gosalyn said, loudly.

Everyone blinked and looked over at her, including Darkwing who had almost forgotten about the girl. She had been quiet this entire time and this was the moment she chose to speak.

"Exscue me?" Gander snapped, glaring at her.

"You are stupid." Gosalyn snarled back. "If you think that taking one girl away is okay just because of who her mother is. You are a bigger idiot then all of them," She jammed her thumb towards the van, "were thinking when they thought could get away with what they were doing!"

Gander narrowed his eyes at the girl. How dare she compare S.H.U.S.H to F.O.W.L? They were nothing like F.O.W.L.

Darkwing smiled warmly at the girl. She had spirit. That was for sure.

"Now, see here, young lady." Gander said. "You have no right -."

"You've got no right." Gosalyn interupted.

She took a step foward and grabbed Webby's hand.

"Some people would wish they had a family. It's not right to take someone who does away from theirs!" She exclaimed, and pulled her gently back towards the group.

"Well said, my dear." Darkwing said, his eyes twinkling.

Both he and Webby smiled thankfully at her.

"I suggest you leave," Scrooge said firmly, "you seen what we do to those who think they can mess with my family." He added.

Gander stared at all of them.

They stared back, glaring at him.

"F,Fine." Gander grumbled. "Agent 22 -." He began as he started to walk away.

"I'm not Agent 22 anymore." Mrs. Beakly said. Gander stared at her in disbelief. Mrs. Beakly couldn't believe they were about to take her granddaughter away. She wasn't going to stand for it. Webby was looking over at her with a look of hurt on her face. Mrs. Beakly ignored the stab of guilt as she glared over at him.

"Y,your renoucing your -." Gander began.

"Effective immidently." Mrs. Beakly interupted cooly.

Gander stared at her for a minute longer before sighing deeply.

"Y,You shall be missed. Greatly. Agent 22." He said, sadly, and went over to the van and got in. It pulled away first, as did the rest of the swat cars of S.H.U.S.H followed suit.

"T,Thanks. For sticking up for me." Webby said in a small whisper to Gosalyn.

Gosalyn smiled warmly and gave her a hug. Webby hugged her back while looked over at Darkwing, then an idea started to form in her head. She had to repay her for her help. If she was going to do something right for once, she was going to do this right.

"You know," Webby said, as they pulled away. "I bet it gets lonely up in that house of yours back at St. Canard. Doesn't it?" She asked Darkwing. Her eyes sparkling.

Darkwing stared at her, then looked over at Gosalyn.

"Oh, now. I don't know about -." Darkwing began, and backed up quickly into Launchpad who had been listening carefully to them.

"What?" Webby said, a smile slowly spreading across her face. "you scared?"

"I'm not scared of nothin'!" Darkwing growled at her. "It, it just might get too -."

"Dangerous?" Launchpad cut in.

Darkwing sighed and looked over at him.

"You are never going to let me fininsh that phase are you?" He asked.

"Nope." Launchpad replied, and smiled.

Darkwing sighed, then looked over at Gosalyn.

"Well, how about it kid?" He asked. "How do you feel about living life on the wild side?" He asked her.

Gosalyn thought for a moment then smiled.

"Dangerously, of course." She answered.

Webby watched as Darkwing hugged her she looked over at her Granny.

"Webby, dear, I -." Mrs. Beakly said.

"Save it, Granny." Webby said, darkly. Mrs. Beakly blinked. She wasn't use to Webby using that tone with her, but she felt she had no right to call her out on it, just yet. "I, I need my space for awhile." She told her as she looked over at Lena and Violet. "Mind if I stay with you for awhile?" She asked, even though she knew she didn't have to.

Both Lena and Violet nodded, then looked apologectically over at Mrs. Beakly who gave them a small nod of approval of her own behind Webby's back.

She was right, she needed her space. Mrs. Beakly was going to give it to her. All the time she needed. Until she was ready.

Webby made her way back over to the boys. Della and Donald were telling them their life story. Leaving out the part about Edward of course. Webby felt they shouldn't, espeically, now. Once they remember on their own and hopefully they do, they'll be angry at them all over again.

"I, I can't remember!" Dewey howled. He was getting frustrated and couldn't focus with the two ducks in front of them talking to them at once.

He looked over at the girl in pink. She was staring back at them sadly.

"W,Why can't I remember?" She heard him whisper, and squeezed his eyes shut.

Webby walked up to him. The memory of when they first met was forever in her mind. It had to still be in their's. She started getting an idea.

"I may have an idea, on how we can get them back." She said. Come on," She took his hand and squeezing it tightly.

She looked towards Scrooge.

"Let's go home." She told him.

Scrooge nodded in agreement.

Yes. It was about time they all made it home.

Back at the lair where the boys had been held,

The smoke had just cleared and Falcon was the first wake up. He groaned as he got up. His head throbbed in pain and he had a sense he wasn't alone. He looked around and spotted two yellow eyes in the shadows, watching silently.

"I know you are there, Phantom Blot." He snarled at him.

Phantom Blot slowly came up to him.

"Some help you are." He growled at him. He didn't even want to know where the freak had ran off too. Graves heard a noise behind them and looked as Bulba pushed his way out of the rumble that had came down on him at some point.

Falcon Graves eyes narrowed at Bulba's even more bulk body, he no longer flashed different colors, but his eyes did randomly. He wondered how that happened.

"That stupid Darkwing Duck." Bulba said, as he staggered over to him. "I'm going to make sure he pays dearly for this. It's all his fault!" He pounded the table next to him making the steel break in two. The liquids have given him certain powers. But he felt them quickly fading away. He didn't have the means to make them again.

But he knew who did.

He spotted the blueprints to the laser that was still spread out across another table, right where the kids had left it, and a smile slowly spread across his face. He picked it up and put it inside his suit and walked over to Falcon Graves and Phantom Bolt.

"I believe, I may have what I need to bring him down." He glanced over at Graves and Phantom. "You guys wanna quit F.O.W.L and work for me instead? I promise you, you'll be treated be way better as employees then agents." He promised.

Falcon Graves and Phantom Blot glanced at each other.

"As long as I don't have to deal with kids. I'm in." Falcon Graves said, finally. He held out his hand to Bulba who shook it, as he glanced over at Phantom Bolt who nodded silently in agreement.

"Good, gentlemen." Bulba said. "Let's get going, we've got work to do..."

The ride to the mansion was a quiet one. Webby sat as far away from her Granny as she could, but also stayed close to the boys. They stared out the window of the plane in awe. Baloo, and Kit had said their good-byes and Kit even let Molly off the plane to hug Della goodbye.

Della's heart ached for Molly.

She was already missing the bear cub dearly, that, along with how her son's were, she didn't know how much more of this she could take, and Edward. How dare he? If he ever showed his face around them again...

Della shooked her head.

No.

She had to focus on her kids.

That was what was important right now.

As she and Launchpad landed the plane saftely near the mansion she wondered what Webby's plan was.

Webby was still holding onto Dewey's hand as they left the plan and into the mansion. The boys looked around in awe as Webby led them around back to Donald's house boat. Donald had a feeling he knew where this was going and went on ahead of her as they entered the boat.

"See?" Webby said gently. She pointed to the line of pictures along the wall of the boat as they came up to them.

Huey, Dewey, and Louie just stared at it blankly.

"That's you, Huey, " Donald tried, "and, and Louie with his first trip to the dentist, and Dewey..." His voice trailed off as Huey stared at himself in the photo.

He didn't know why but he felt angry that the grown duck was talking to him, and as he continued to Huey slowly felt something inside him start to grow. LIke a red fog sworming inside his empty mind. He saw small pictures inside the red fog. He and Uncle Donald, his brother's, Webby, the adventures with Scrooge, his Mom...

He blinked then looked over at her eyes widen.

Della's heart skipped a beat.

Did that mean?

"M,Mom. W,What's going on? How, How did we get back home?" He asked.

Everyone cheered as Della fell to her knees and hugged her son.

"Honey, it's all okay, now." She said. Huey looked over her shoulder at his brother's. They still had that blank look on their faces.

"The memory juice." Webby whispered. Huey looked over at her. "It, It must still be in effect with you somehow..."

"What I don't get, is why F.O.W.L erased their memories." Donald said, darkly. He looked over at Scrooge, angerly. "As usual, it's your fault -."

"No the time Donald." Della snapped at him. Donald turned to face her and opened his mouth. "It doesn't matter why, the fact is they done it, and gotten away with it, and we deal with it like everything else. Because that's what we do." She continued quickly.

Donald closed it, and sighed deeply.

Yeah.

That's what they do.

Webby was looked into Dewey's face, not understanding how she could get him to remember if the pictures weren't working. Sure, she had gotten him back after the whole Phantom Bolt inncodent, but this was his memories, it was totally different then his soul...

Mind, body and soul.

She looked over at Louie who was staring at them. If his family and pictures weren't enough...

She dug into her backpack and found a crips twenty-dollar bill and brought it out. Mind and Body won't work with Louie, so perhaps his soul... He was the evil triplet after all. She floated it laizily in his face.

It has to work. Please. Let this work. Webby thought.

"Webby! Stop it with the teasing already!" Louie suddenly shouted. Louie He snatched the money out of her hands, making Webby smile with relief at him.

"Louie!" She shouted and gave him a hug, knocking him down him down.

Louie grunted, but secretly liked the fact that he was being smothered by his friend. He hugged her back tightly.

That left just one other brother.

Dewey.

"Come on, Dewey." Webby said, she went over to him and studied his face. "You have to remember who you are! Who we are..."

"I, I'm sorry. I, I don't -." Dewey stammered. He started to back out of the house boat. It was all too much for him. He turned and ran.

Webby's heart pounded hard against her chest. She looked back at his brother's who both nodded at her, urging her to race after him. She did, she ran passed everyone and after Dewey. She saw him skid to a stop at the end of the driveway, almost frozen in place.

Webby slowed down her pace as she walked up to him.

"Hey," She said.

"Hey." Dewey replied in a small voice. He looked over at her and she saw tears in his eyes. Her heart sank. She couldn't stand seeing him this way. "I, I remember something." He said finally, making her blink.

"Y,You do?" Webby asked. Her continued to beat rapidly against her chest.

Dewey nodded, then heisitated.

"i, I remember you." He said, finally.

Webby's heart lifted. Out of all the people he could have remember. He remembered her? Something clicked just then. She knew it was a crazy thought, but after all they've been through, after everything that's happened with them, it just felt right to her somehow.

Webby took a step towards Dewey who still hadn't moved. She took another step, then another until she was so close to his face that she saw the smokey vision in his clouded eyes.

She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and kissed him.

Dewey, felt his muscle tense for just a moment, then relaxed as he felt Webby's bill against his, and all at once his memories started coming back to him in a million small fireworks. He saw his Mom, his brothers, Uncle Donald, Scrooge, Edward and what had just occured with him.

He quickly pulled away from Webby who stared into his face hopefully.

"W,Webby?" He asked, blinking repeatedly.

Webby felt tears in her eyes and flung her arms around him.

"You're back." She whispered.

"I didn't know I left." Dewey admitted apologectically. "W,Where are we? How'd we get home? What happened -." He stopped when he stared passed her.

Webby looked back, with her arms still around his neck and watched Huey, Louie, Lena, and Violet coming towards them with smug looks on their faces. So, they saw them kiss. Perfect. One less thing to hide from them.

"Well, didn't take much to get his memory back did it?" Lena asked, eyeing him teasingly.

Dewey rolled his eyes.

"Knock it off, Lena." He said.

"Yep. He's back alright." Violet added.

"So, what are you guys doing out here?" Webby asked quickly, changing the subjects. "Shouldn't you be with your family, letting them know you are alright?"

"We already did." Lena said. "They said it was alright."

Webby blinked.

"Alright?" She asked, confused.

"We still got one more thing to do. Remember?" Violet asked her gently. She looked towards Huey, and Webby finally remembered.

"The Stone of What Was." She breathed. She slowly let her arms drop from Dewey's neck.

The whole reason this have happened to her in the first place. Why Huey was kidnapped in the first place. How could she have forgotten so easily? Did she even want to know anymore? It was pretty clear her mother had made her choice.

"I, I don't think I even want to know." She whispered.

"And waste Huey's talent in finding that out for you?" Louie asked her. Webby blinked and looked at him. "Come on, Webby. That's kind of selfish don't ya think?"

"Like your one to talk about being selfish." Webby snapped back at him. "This was all your fault in the first place -." She stopped short as Huey gave her a sharp looked.

Louie glared at her, not saying a word.

"I, I'm sorry. I, I just -." Webby stammered. Dewey's face soften and pulled Webby close to him. "I, I guess I'm a bit exhausted about all this..."

"Yeah. So are we," Huey agreed. "But we still have work to do." He told her. Huey looked back at the mansion. Webby had a feeling that Huey was holding something back.

"Huey? What's the matter?" Dewey asked. Huey looked back over at him, his eyes blazing with anger. Not at him, but at something else.

"Just not warming up to the grown-ups just yet." He told him.

"You mean, Uncle Donald?" Dewey asked.

Huey nodded.

Something had happened between those two while he was out of compision with his memory. He wanted so much to ask what it was, but, he his head was throbbing from the pain of memory loss, and he felt he shouldn't push himself to hard.

Not after what all he remembered.

"So, what now?" Violet asked.

They all looked over at Webby. This was her call. Her own personal adventure.

Webby looked around at all of them. Ready to be there for her, no matter what. Just like she was there for all of them. She looked over at Dewey who smiled at her and took her hand.

"Whatever you decide. We're with you." He said, squeezing her hand.

Webby nodded, took a deep breath and said.

"Okay. Let's go find the Stone of What Was." She said finally.

She, and the rest of them quickly got back on the plane and before any of the grown-ups could stop them, they were up in the air once again...

Nancy Vanderquack was glaring over at Edward as the van zoomed down the high way. She was the first come to, then it was Bradford, his partners, the egg headed employee's, then lastely Edward. All that time Nancy had a revalation and she said it out loud once Edward groaned and sat up, rubbing his head and looking around at all of them.

"You saw it, didn't you?" She seethed, narrowing her eyes at him.

Edward cocked his head at her.

"Saw what?" He snapped. His head was throbbing and dots exsploded in his eyes.

"That flare gun." She said.

Bradford squinted his eyes at him. He never trusted this man who was the boys father. He had only made him an agent so he can keep tabs on him in case he decided to intervine when he learned his children were in trouble.

"I, I did not." Edward said, avoiding her eyes. Even as he said it, Bradford knew he was lying. He always knew when someone was lying. He snickered at him which made Edward turn his attention to him.

"You think I don't have other agents out there?" He asked him.

Edwards eyes widen and his heart pounded hard in his chest, making Bradford confirm his suspision about him all along.

"There is a lot more to F.O.W.L then you realize, Eddie." Bradford told him.

Edwards eyes narrowed at him.

"Don't call me that! Only -." He stopped.

He was about to say, only Della calls him Eddie.

"I'd say, that's the least of your problems. Eddie." Bradford said, ignoring his glare.

"W,What are you talking about?" Edward asked.

Bradford's smile spread across his face as the van came to a sudden hault

"I mean, those kids of yours better watch themselves from here on out. I've already predicted this would happen, and have someone already tailing them." He told him.

Edward quickly stood up and made a move at Bradford but the doors opened and a handful of S.H.U.S.H agents were standing in front of them.

"Okay, you lot." One snarled at them. "Out. All of you. Nice and steady..."

Edward stood there, as the others followed out of the van. He had tried his best to keep F.O.W.L away from his family, but in the end it didn't even matter. Bradford knew all along about Edwards intentions on protecting them from F.O.W.L.

What was he going to do now?

He had hoped Della could see passed his persona. But with her being gone for about a decade, she had lost any faith she had in him, any reconizition...

His only hope was that the kids could handle whatever F.O.W.L had in store for them, now, and maybe, just maybe he'd have a little bit more hope left in himself for just that. Because right now, all he had waiting for him was an empty jail cell, and his memory of their little faces staring at him in horror, never once smiling at him.
