I moved from the roof to the cliffside of that overlooked the Emerald Forest as the sun started to set. I was preparing myself mentally, for the war that was coming. That was until I feel a presence coming towards me, one I recognized with my heart.
"Hey, Velvet," I said to her.
"Nothing can get passed you, does it?" she asked jokingly.
"I'll make sure that it won't anymore," I said to her with a smile.
She sat down next to us as we look at the sunset.
"So... there's going to be a battle against this Cinder," she started.
"I fear so. And this isn't going to be pretty, I can tell you that much," I said as I carefully climb out of my wheelchair and sit next to her.
"(F/n)... I know that you're already dead, but... are you going to be okay?" she asked in a worried tone.
"I wish I could say yes, but then I would be lying. In all reality I'm not sure myself, Velvet," I said to her.
She looks to me with even more worry.
"You see... There is a part of my past I haven't told you. Fifty years ago, just after I died from fire and ice. I lost control of my emotions when I left the hospital and made my way towards the church where I was burned. There... was Lilith, the bishop who burned me alive, my mother who just stood there and watched me burn, and a third person. This third person was different. She wasn't human, she was the Queen of the Grimm. She... was the one who turned me into this monster you see now. But what she didn't expect was that I overpowered her and she fled away. But here is the part that I fear the most, I think that this 'Queen' will be in this war as well," I explained to her.
I look over to face her and saw that she was on the verge of tears. I leaned towards to hug her and she started to cry openly against me. I knew that she knows what I feared.
"I-I-I... I don't want t-to lose you!" she said, hugging me tightly.
"There, there... Velvet, look at me," I said to her.
She slowly lifted her to face me, and I leaned in to kiss her. She shriek first, but soon leaned in to kiss back. After about a minute later, she broke the kiss.
"(F/n)... just... promise me something," she said in a quiet and shy voice.
"What is it, my dear?"I asked her.
"Come back alive," she said, bursting into tears again.
"I'll try my best, my shy rabbit. With all my might," I said, caressing her rabbit ears.
"C-can we stay like this till the B-Bullheads comes?" she asked.
"Of course," I responded.
I gently put her in my lap and we continued to hug each other, enjoying the time we have left together. Two hours have passed until Glynda spoke through the speakers, calling all the students to go to the Bullhead Landing Station. I look down and saw that Velvet had dozed off, and I gently woke her up. She slowly opened her eyes and look up to face me.
"Hey, sweetheart. I fear that the Bullheads have arrived," I said to her.
"Oh..." she said in a disappointed tone.
"Come on, I'm sure your friends are waiting for you," I said to her, gently lifting her.
"(F/n), can you walk with me? I'm sure our friends wish to say something before you go to war," she said as I climb in my wheelchair.
"Of course," I responded with a smile.
Moments later, we went to meet the rest of our friends at the landing docks. Their belongings, behind them.
"Hi everyone," I said to them.
"Hey (F/n)," they said.
"I... can't believe we're actually doing this," said Weiss.
"It's for everyone's safety," I explained to them.
"I can't understand why we can't help you in this fight," said Jaune.
"That's because I don't want any of you to get hurt," I said to them.
"And we appreciate that, but there has to be something that we can do, right?" said Pyrrha.
"I fear not. All I wish for you is to be safe," I said to them.
Everyone went silent for a moment, looking unsure of this decision. But then Ruby started to make her way towards me. Once in front of me, she hugged me.
"(F/n), make them pay for messing with us Hunters," she said.
"Don't worry, Ruby. I'll make sure to bring hell on Remnant," I said to her, hugging her back.
She then released me from her hug and went back to her friends. Next was Yang who went to hug me.
"(F/n), go out with a Yang," she said, making everyone grunt.
"*Chuckles* I'll try my best, Yang," I said, hugging her back.
Next was Blake to hug me.
"Let the White Fang pay for what they've done," she said.
"I'll make sure of that, just for you," I said, hugging her back.
Following her, was Weiss.
"You... you've shown me that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover because no matter what they went through, all that truly matters is how they are by their heart. Thank you, (F/n), for everything you've done for us, and thank you for giving us safety from the dark times that's ahead," she said, hugging me tightly.
"I'd do anything to keep my family safe from danger, and I can only hope for the same for the rest of you," I said, hugging her.
Next up was Jaune.
"(F/n), thank you for all those times I've trained with you. You helped me become a stronger person, bot physically and mentally," he said, shaking my hand and then pulling me into a hug.
"I'm glad I could help you, Jaune," I said to him.
'Also, maybe you should go after someone that's closer to you, someone that looks after you,' I said to him.
He looked at me with a confused look but smiled as he walked back to the rest. Pyrrha then walked towards me.
"(F/n), for someone without an Aura or a beating heart, you've shown a lot of kindness to us. More than we ever expect from someone who was isolated for half a century, and I wished we could be next to you during this fight. But I guess we should thank you for giving us this chance to bring us to safety," she said hugging me tightly.
"I should be the one thanking you for giving me a chance to show me the world again and showing kindness to a monster like me," I said, hugging her back.
Next up, was Nora, who nearly knocked me out of my chair from her speed.
"Break some legs for us, alright?" she said, hugging me so tightly that I would probably be choking.
"*Chuckles* Of course, you hyperactive girl," I said, hugging her bag.
Ren came walking towards me, trying to break Nora's grip on me. When he managed to release me, he then shook my hand and pulled me into a hug.
"Try not to lose yourself during this fight," he said.
"Out of all of the things, I can't promise that, hehe," I said as I returned his hug.
Yatsu was next to come with a bro hug.
"You've always been a tough one to defeat in training, and from what I saw when we rescued Velvet, I have no doubt that you'll come out victorious," he said, giving me a pat on my back.
"I'll try not to disappoint you guys," I said, giving him a pat on his back as well.
Following him was Fox.
"May lady luck be with you during this fight, (F/n)," he said as we shake hands with a smile.
"Thanks, Fox, and let's hope for the best," I said to him.
Next up was Coco.
"(F/n), you were... an interesting person when we first met. You looked like that you came back from the grave, and yet... you weren't bothered with how others thought of you. Instead, you showed us that you were completely different. You weren't evil, you were just raised by darkness, you may have been alone, but you created your own family. And more importantly, you showed that no matter where you come from, or how you were raised, friendship can come in all shape and sizes," she said, hugging me gently.
"Thank you for your kind words, Coco. It means a lot to me to hear that," I said to her, returning the hug.
And last but not least, Velvet.
"(F/n)... please, come back to me, alright?" she said, hugging me for dear life.
"I'll try my best, my shy bunny. You've shown me kindness, compassion, and something I thought I lost so long ago. Love. I'll go through Hell and back again to be by your side, one more time. I'll make sure that I'll win this war for you," I said, hugging her tightly as well.
When she loosened her grip around me, and I lifted her chin to face me. We soon kissed each other, like it was the last time we would see each other. After a minute, we separate.
"Is everyone ready to go?" asked Ozpin from behind.
"Yes, I am," said Velvet, slowly returning to her friends.
"All of us are," said Blake.
"Alright then. Please go wait inside the Bullhead. We'll be there shortly," said Glynda.
Everyone soon entered the Bullhead, everyone but Velvet. She gave me one last look before she joined her friends.
"(F/n)... Thank you for helping us in times like these," said Ozpin.
"No need to thank me, Ozpin. I'm just doing what is right. Now... go board the Bullhead, and go to safety, I'll make sure that they won't come back alive," I said to him.
"Take care of yourself as well, (F/n)," said Glynda.
"May we see each other after this battle is done," said Ozpin.
"Likewise. Now, go. I'll take care of things around here," I said with a smile.
They soon left me behind, and I watched the Bullhead flying away to a safe location.
"*Sigh* Time to prepare myself," I told myself as barbed wires started to come out of my body.
The barbed wires started to carry me towards the tall tower in the middle of Beacon. Once near, my wires started to scale me up to the top. As I arrive at the top, I look over the landscape, waiting for them to arrive.
