Ch 24 - Defend the North

PLAY: Departure - Hunter X Hunter Opening

(The music slowly starts to build as the sun starts rising over the lands of Equestria.)

Stepping firmly on the ground,

(In a grassy land, A male bends as he stretches.)

You are awakening,

(The camera moves as it reveals Alan looking up at the sky with a bright smile on his face.)

With the smile of an angel,

(Alan pulls his book out as it opens with different symbols flying out.)

Take me away!

(Camera moves back as different monsters were summoned as they ran or flew away. The title "MLP: The Gathering of Magic" Appears we the elements of harmony flashed in appearance with the book at the top center.)

You are not alone, even in solitude,

(Rainbow Dash flies through the skies with a rainbow streak until landing at the library with the other mane six as they cheered and waved with the six elements of harmony floating above them while glowing.)

There is definitely a reason as to why we are born.

(The camera moves as Luna, Celestia, Cadence and Shining come to scene as they smiled. The sun comes to the left and the moon comes to the right with a crystal heart floating down from the center.)

You can smile again! Bathing in the sun!

(Scootaloo is seen skating on a skateboard until skidding to the CMC clubhouse with AB crafting something and Sweetie belle singing a song before they face the camera and throw a fist up with their CMC logo appearing above them.)

You can fly away!

(Alan and the mane six are seen running through the grassy fields as the sun started setting.)

The world is awaiting your brilliance!

(The scene is next with five beings in cloaks that held smiles until moving to a dark void with the camera passing a shadow being that smirked before red eyes opened up, radiating with dark energy.)

Stepping firmly on the ground,

(Twilight fires a magical beam as Rainbow flies over and does a sonic Rainboom and vanishes in the sky.)

You are awakening,

(Applejack kicks a tree with apples falling while Rarity uses her magic and levitates different varieties of crystals and gems.)

With the smile of an angel,

(Pinkie fires her party cannon with confetti flying while Fluttershy holds a few woolen animals with a smile.)

Take me away! (You can smile!)

(Celestia and Luna radiate the sun and moon's light with gold and blue aura flowing until they faced the camera with a smile.)

It is never too late for a new "Beginning"!

(The scene changes with Alan kneeling, and bruised while holding his arm. The seven cloaked beings stood by his side with different colored aura flowing around them. Alan glares up at his opponent in shadows as it smirks and motions a hand at him and his allies.)

No matter what happens, keep getting back up!

(Alan rises as his book floats in front of him and opens, blasting energy around and explodes. The scene turns to Alan opening his eyes and smiles bright before throwing a fist into the air as his friends around him cheer. The title appears over with the elements and the book until the screen fades into darkness.)

Morning dawned over Ponyville as sunlight peeked into Rarity's room. It settled on my face causing me to groan. "Grrrrrrr...never enough time…" Sighing in defeat, I slid out of the bed sheets and rubbed the remnants of sleep from my eyes. There was a soft snore behind me as I turned and saw a peaceful Rarity still fast asleep in bed. Quietly, I tiptoed out of the room and stepped into the shower. I sighed while the warm water rinsed over my body. It was crazy, I slept with Rarity, but I have no regrets. She's a beautiful and amazing mare, and I'm lucky enough to have her close to me.

While in my thoughts, I didn't hear the door open before a body pressed to me with arms wrapping my torso. "Morning, darling."

I blushed with a chuckle. "I thought you were still sleeping."

Rarity giggled softly. "I was, but you weren't there. It wasn't the same sleeping without you." She nuzzled my shoulder. "You feel divine, and so warm.~"

"Rarity, I just do what I can to keep you happy." I smiled and pecked her head. "Why don't I leave you to finish up here? I'll cook breakfast."

The mare giggled. "You're very sweet. But, let me give you a little wake up kiss.~" She turned me to face her, and pulled me into a deep kiss.

The kiss ended as I breathed sheepishly. "Why is it you girls always make it so hard for me to leave?"

Rarity giggled. "Because we care about you, darling. Now, get going before I do something very unlady like.~" I started to pull back...until I got a full view of her perfect breasts. After our fun "fooling around" in the shower, I left her to freshen up. I dried off, and pulled my clothes back on before heading down stairs. In the kitchen was a dense cloud of smoke. "*cough, cough* Good grief, is there a fire?" In a flash of bluish light, the smoke vanished to reveal Sweetie Belle standing by the stove. "Sweetie Belle?"

The young mare turned to me and blinked. "Alan, what are you doing here?"

I cleared my throat. "Well, I spent the night with your sister, and now I thought I'd make some breakfast for you mares."

"Oh." Sweetie smiled. "I was actually making breakfast for us."

I arched a brow and glanced at the burnt pan on the stove. "You know, I could teach ya a thing or two about cooking if you want." I offered.

The young mare frowned at my remark. "I guess I have to work a little more on my cooking huh?"

Seeing her downcast expression, I stepped beside her and patted the mare's shoulder. "Hey, no one becomes a master chef overnight. Once you learn what to do, it gets easier." Over the next hour, Sweetie Belle we managed to assemble an edible breakfast together and served it on the table.

Moments later, hoofsteps came into the room as Rarity gasped softly. "My my, you two were busy."

"Seems your little sister and I had the same idea." I smiled. "It took a little time, but I think she managed to learn a thing or two."

SB blushed a bit. "Yeah, he did help me a lot. My first attempt went up in smoke."

Rarity sighed. "At least the house didn't go up in flames." Sweetie winced a little bit.

"She'll improve, I'm sure of it." SB smiled a bit and hugged my waist. "Hehe, go on and take a seat before your food gets cold. You too, Rares." Both sisters smiled as we dug into the food.

After breakfast, Sweetie went off to school while I was relaxing on the sofa. "Wonder what the others are up to." Suddenly, my phone went off. Funny enough, it was Twi who had sent me a text. "Grab Rarity and meet us at the train station. Urgent!"

I blinked before turning to the white unicorn. "Come on, Rares. Twilight needs to see us for something urgent." Surprised by the sudden request, Rarity proceeded to lock up her home so we could rondevu with the others.

At the station, the other five were already there. Twi was the first to spot us. "Alan, Rarity, thanks for coming here on short notice."

"What's going on, Twi?" I asked curiously.

The lavender mare's face was full of worry. "There's been a disturbing incident to the North. We'll talk about it once we're on board." She spoke as the train screeched to a halt behind her. We filed inside and sat in a large booth. Now enroute, Two picked up where she had left off. "We're headed to the Crystal empire."

AJ arched a brow. "Okay...but why duh rush?"

"My brother sent me a message. After he and Cadence returned home yesterday, the outer walls came under siege by a horde of black clad ponies. With them...came an army of hideous and terrifying creatures."

I hummed in thought while tapping my chin. "Did they get a description of what they look like?"

Twi pulled out her phone and read the text. "He said they had...heads covered by a blank, white sheet of bone, arms that split into two at the elbows, and moved around on a mess of tentacles."

I paused for a moment to process the information. "Hmm...blank boney faces...two sets of arms...tentacles...but that could only mean...!" My body trembled as I came to a horrifying conclusion.

"Alan?" Fluttershy asked in worry. "What's wrong?"

Taking a deep breath, I looked up at the girls. "I pray that I'm wrong, but from the description you just gave me...I think I know what those creatures are."

RD leaned closer. "Well, what are they?"

I gulped. "...eldrazi."

AJ arched her brow again. "Eldra wut now?"

"Eldrazi, beings that lurk in the blind eternities. The void that exists between the different planes of the multiverse." I breathed.

"What do they do?" Pinkie asked.

I shifted in my seat. "Putting it simply, they eat. They feast on mana. From stories I've heard, they migrate from plane to plane, attracted to surges of mana. Once there, they roam the entire world, draining every ounce of mana they come across. The land, the creatures...people." A green tint spread across their faces. "What makes it worse is that these specific eldrazi seem to belong to Ulamog's brood."

"Ulamog?" Twilight asked as she calmed her stomach.

"One of the known titan class eldrazi. Known as the "ceaseless hunger". Anything that he or his brood drain of mana turns into dust and the landscape is changed into a white, wasteland husk." My explanation of the monsters made the girls pale and tremble in terror.

"That's...horrible." Rarity gasped.

"It's their sole purpose in existence. Consume any mana they find." I nodded. "They can't be reasoned with, and desire nothing but satisfying an endless appetite."

"Yeh? Well if one comes along, I'll knock it out in ten seconds flat." RD stated while punching her palm.

My head shot up towards her. "You cannot fight them alone. They are not like any other creature you've come across, and extremely hard to kill."

"How can ya kill them then?" Applejack asked this time.

I sighed. "Most magic, especially what ponies of this plane use, won't be of much use. If you try to cast a spell to harm them directly, they can simply absorb the mana you used to cast it and nullify the spell. The best way is to cause it fatal harm...with weapons. Only magic that manifests as a nature force like fire or lightning can actually work against you can get past their bone like armor, and do serious harm, they should fall."

"That's a problem since only unicorns and Alicorns can use magic. Not many spells can be used like that here." Twilight pointed out.

"And the fact that none of you girls are proficient in any type of weapons." I breathed before turning my gaze outside to the snow covered lands beyond the train. "Lets just hope Cadence and Shining were wrong about these things being eldrazi."

Twi dipped her head. "There's one other thing. I got a message from Celestia. Luna has gone missing."

My eyes widened. "Luna's gone too?"

"She stayed in the Everfree forest to study the Tree of Harmony, but never returned to the castle." Twilight spoke. "Celestia is going out of her mind in worry." Man, this is becoming a very crazy and concerning day.

The rest of the train ride was silent as a sense of dread hung in the air. Exiting the train, we found ourselves in the snowy tundra of the Crystal Empire. "Twily!" Called out a stallion who rushed over to great us.

"Shining!" Twi called out before the two embraced tightly. "I'm so glad you're okay."

Her brother nodded. "Barely, we pushed them back for now, but they are bound to return." Shining pulled back and immediately escorted us to the outer wall. Snow and wind howled around us while we tried to push through it towards the city.

"How bad is the damage?" RD asked. Shining pointed to a section of the wall. All around were slashes and missing chunks of rock, however that wasn't the worst part. In the center of the wall looked to be a massive crater, like someone had been drilling their way through.

"That hole...is the work of those squid like creatures." Shining breathed. "They just touched the wall and it began eroding like dust in the wind."

The marks and craters around the area were more than enough proof of what did this. "...The eldrazi…" Before Shining could ask, I repeated what I knew about them. When I finished, I glanced at the damages again. "...how long till they return?"

Our stallion friend shook his head. "Not sure, perhaps dusk." That was when we heard howling in the distance. Shining groaned and turned to the horizon. "Oh don't tell me…" Across the icy landscape, an army of monstrosities and dark armored ponies was charging straight for us.

"Shit…" I gasped. "Shining...everyone...through the barrier ...NOW!" The others made a break for it as I ran in front of the hole. The horde approached as my book glowed. "Stay back, freaks!" I shouted as my mana began pouring into the book. They didn;t seem to care at all about my warning and ket charging at full speed. I growled and began summoning thopters, automatons, any artificial creature I could think of. Many of my forces ran up to engage the enemy, but it wasn't enough. I watched as a few eldrazi broke past my defenses and jumped into the hole in the wall. In desperation I flung my kunia at them, but a few of the dark ponies moved in front to intercept my attack. "Damn you, you fu-" My lack of focus allowed one of the monsters to throw a punch into my face, knocking me flat on the ground.

Shaking from the impact, I crawled to my hands and knees with my mind dazed and ears ringing. Then, a new voice cut through my mental fog. "Well well, looks like we have a wannabe hero trying to fight off my servants." A shadow loomed over me as I managed to lift my gaze with a groan. Said voice's owner was a tall female clad in black armor like the invaders. Unlike them however, see was very clearly an alicorn. Two large wings sprouted from her back and a needle sharp horn sat atop her head. "That was just sad." She licked as a faint crash of stone was heard. "Ah goodie, they finally broke through." With a snap of her fingers, the dark ponies rushed into the opening.

Screams began to ring out from the kingdom as I watched troops and eldrazi enter the city. "N...no…" I grunted and tried to get up, but the alicorn pinned me with her hoof.

The mare shook her head. "You honestly think you can save them? Don't make me laugh." At the hole, her troops were already starting to climb back out. Behind them were innocent ponies bound in chains. "Well, hope you enjoyed the preview of horror to come, Alan." She grinned before knocking me out with a blast of black magic.

Everything was a haze after that mare attacked me. My vision was a blur, but I made out a few faint colors around my sight, as well as muffled voices.

"...n...an...Alan." The voice came more clear as my vision came back. "Alan, come on." A gentle hand from Twilight slapped my cheek a few times as I gasped and panted. "There you go...easy does it."

"Yeah...thanks." I groaned and sat up. "Oh god...my aching head…"

"Don't try to move too much." A familiar voice assured me as the princess of the sun kneeled to my side.

"Celestia…?" I breathed difficulty. "...w...where am I?"

"The infirmary of the Crystal Empire." She smiled.

"We found ya unconscious when those things hauled flank outta here." RD mentioned.

I breathed again while trying to process what I remembered. "...what happened?"

"I'm afraid that those eldrazi invaded most of the empire." Twilight sighed sadly. "We tried to stop them, but their numbers overpowered us. They took almost a third of the kingdom."

"We were able to save a few…" Fluttershy frowned.
The news they offered did little to comfort me. "Dammit …" I also noticed...someone was missing. "Where's Rarity?"

Twilight frowned. "She got kidnapped with the rest."

My eyes widened in horror. "No...no, Rarity!" I tried to get up, but pain shot in my body as I groaned while clutching my chest.

AJ pushed her hands to me. "Yer in no condition ta go anywhere, sugarcube. Ya need ta rest."

"I'll be fine." I grunted as a single orb of mana shot into my book. A second later, a glass bottle of golden liquid was spat out into my open hand. I pried off the cork before chugging the contents. A warmth spread over my body as the pain raking my body faded. "Much better…" I sighed.

"Was that some kind of healing potion?" Twi asked.

No longer gripped by the pain, I eased back on the bed with a sigh. "An elixir of immortality, actually." I finally manage to pull myself to my feet. The others stepped to give me space. "I should have been more careful around those things. If that mare didn't knock me out, I could have stopped them."

"A mare was with them?" Celestia asked.

I nodded. "It was hard to make her out when I was in a daze, but she wore black armor...uh...black fur...and was an Alicorn based on the horn and wings I saw." My description of the mare caused Celestia's and Twi's eyes to widen in shock and horror. "...you two know her?"

Twilight breathed while Celestia held her hands over her mouth and walked away. "Alan...the mare you just described...was Nightmare Moon."

"Nightmare moon…" I remembered her. She was...Luna's dark counterpart. "But...how is that possible? I thought she was destroyed from the Elements of Harmony."

Celestia sniffed and shook her head. "Nightmare Moon is basically her alter ego. Something like that can't simply be destroyed, but her influence over Luna was suppressed. Some one must have...broke the seal from the elements."

"Dark magic…" I shook my head before summoning and drinking another elixir. "I have to find her." To my surprise, my escape from the infirmary was halted by my marefriends. "What are doing?"

"You can't go." Twilight stated. "Nightmare Moon is too dangerous. She doesn't listen to reason. If you're right, if she was revived by dark magic, someone must have also altered her ego and memories."

"You don't know that." I spoke back. "I'm the only one out of the group that can talk to her. Luna is still there. I know it."

Celestia shook her head. "You're not going anywhere, Alan."

I was surprised by Tia's answer as well. "But, Celestia…"

"No buts about it. She made the call." Twilight spoke.

My fists clenched. "Then what am I supposed to do?"

Tia sighed. "For now, you should at least rest. Cadence and I are working with Shining to find where Nightmare Moon's hideout is." I was about to argue before she held her hand up. "You're not gonna be part of this ... I'm sorry." The mares passed me and exited the room as two guards shut and locked the door behind them.

I sat at the side of my bed, stunned. They wouldn't let me even go out and find them. Out of anyone, I was the best equipped to go searching and yet they insist on keeping me here out of the loop. "No, I refuse to sit on the side lines." I know this is gonna bite me later, but better than staying here. My mana channeled into my book while I stepped to the window. After about a minute, six thopters the size of german shepherds materialized outside my window. Each of them held five surveillance cameras under them. They flew around the area, confirming my escape route was clear.

"Now, go. Track down where Nightmare Moon is." They flew out into the open snow field as I opened the window and jumped out. With the coast clear, I ran off with my cloak keeping me invisible to everyone until I entered the snowy wastelands. "Luna...I'm coming."

(POV: Rarity)

I stirred in a room of near total darkness. The floor I lay sprawled on was cold, damp, and stone. Utterly despicable, seriously, copplestone is so outdated. I managed to stand to my knees while holding my head. "Oww…" No sooner did I awake, my ears were filled with the screams of ponies. Accompanying them were the terrifying sounds of groans and growls. "What is going on here…?" Shadows loomed at the end of the room through my cell door. There at the entrance were two terrifying creatures with sickening looks. They must be those eldrazi Alan mentioned. I was very scared as they just looked at me. "W...where am I?" They only snarled and left before two stallions in black armor came by.

"Ah, the Element of Generosity is finally awake." One of them grinned.

"About time you did. Was looking forward to this." The second smirked. Keys clanked in the lock of the cell before they stepped inside.

"W...what are you talking about?" I asked them. They only smirked before yanking me up and slammed me to the wall. "Ow! Let me go!" I yelled and squirmed.

The first one smirked. "Well, she sure is feisty, I heard she was more lady like.~"

"I like feisty. Gets me so hard.~" The second licked his lips and grasped one of my breasts.

My heart raced and my blood turned cold as I knew what they were planning. "No! Let me go! Help! Somepony!" I screamed, but they laughed and started yanking at my clothes.

"SOLDIERS!" A booming female tone yelled from behind them.

The mare growled. "You dare lie to me, maggots? I saw everything. I tasked you two to watch her, not rape her!" Both males flinced and sweated in terror. "Now, get out of my sight before I feed you both to the eldrazi myself." The two quickly sped past her in a dust trail. I began to rise again while coughing as the mare approached me. "Did they hurt you?"

My gaze finally fell to the mare before me and widened. I recognize those cyan dagger eyes anywhere. "N-Nightmare Moon…" I trembled and backed up against the wall.

I sniffed while trying to wipe my eyes. "W….why are you doing this? Why spare me?"

The dark mare grinned slyly. "Why? Because I want your sexy, slutty body. All. For. Myself.~~~" I blushed again and hugged myself in worry. Seeing my reaction, Moon giggled. "That fear is adorable on you.~"

My drones finally got a location to where Nightmare Moon was staying. The raging blizzards that ravaged the icy wastelands made the commute rather difficult. Nevertheless, I trudged forward as quickly as possible. Far beyond the borders of the Crystal Empire was a large an black castle with guards all around. Concealed by my invisibility cloak, I carefully made my way up to the front gates. The guards were oblivious to my presence even as I cast auras over them, lulling them to sleep. With the guards dealt with, I pushed my way inside and began scouting out the building.

I'll give credit to whoever built the place. Despite having only a short amount of time to build, it was certainly impressive. My thopters stayed out of reach over the castle as I slipped inside the main structure. I was passing by a room before I caught a glimpse of two stallions. One wearing guard armor was talking to another who wore heavy duty, well crafted metal armor, had glowing green eyes and a curved red horn.

"The eldrazi and troops will be ready for the next phase in a short while, my lord." The stallion spoke.

The red horned male grinned. "Excellent, make sure the cargo is loaded up. By the time they realize what I plan to unleash on them, it will be too late."

What were they talking about? And who is this guy? Well, whatever it is, it's not good. Another soldier ran in and passed me before kneeling. "My lord...The dark one...he wishes to speak with you immediately."

The stallion growled. "Very well, see to it that the final preparations are made. We shall strike in the next few days." He turned before leaving the room, again he passed me unnoticed. I wanted to tail him to find out more, but I had a job here first. Again, I resumed my search for Nightmare moon, but lady luck seemed to be ignoring me. When I turned a corner, I could hear wild horse screams of pleasure down the hall.

I can't be sure why I ended up tracking the source of the screams, but my gut was urging me onward. Soon enough, the sounds led me to a dark set of doors. When I opened the door, a flush burned my face. The mare I saw before, Nightmare Moon, was with another dark colored mare. Both of them were on the bed, butt naked and scissoring each other like wild animals.

I took a deep breath and noticed the cutie mark emblazoned on the unknown mare's flank. It was three diamonds, and only one mare has that pattern. "...Rarity…" I whispered. Quietly, I pushed the door further open and stepped into the room. My entrance didn't phase them as they continued to rutt each other. My face burned red. "I need to put them to sleep before trying to save them." I thought as my mana began to build. Before I could cast my spell, The dark mare resembling Rarity shrieked, which startled me as I dropped my book as it gave a oud 'THUD'. ...fuck me.

Both mares paused and snapped their heads in my direction. "WHO IS THERE?!" Snarled Moon. "Come out, or I will force you out!" Man...if Rarity didn't scream I wouldn't have botched up. Might as well try negotiating with her. Taking a deep breath, I removed my hood and revealed myself. Upon seeing me, Moon blinked with an arched brow. "You?"

I stared right into her dagger like eyes. "Surprised?"

The alicorn glared at me as she stood. "I don't know if I should be infuriated or impressed you trespassed into my castle unnoticed."

I arched my brow before hiding my book in my cloak. "I have my talents." My eyes wandered between the two mares. "I've come to rescue Rarity...and you, Luna."

Moon remained silent for a period of minutes. Then, she and Rarity shared a light chuckle. "You sad little boy. I am not that weakling "Luna" you speak of. I am her stronger dark self, Nightmare Moon."

"Bullshit." I stated. "You and her share the same body and with it, the same power. Both of you are two sides of the same coin."

Moon growled. "How dare you. I can simply kill you if I so choose."

"But you didn't." I countered. "Back at the Crystal Empire, you didn't kill me. You could have easily killed me right then and there...but you didn't. Why? Because you're still the same mare I fell in love with. The same mare I care about who creates a night of wonder, beauty and majesty." For a moment I saw her eyes soften, but only for a moment. I took a leap of faith and approached her. "You are Nightmare Moon, yes...but you're no different than Luna. Dark or not, you're still the mare I love."

She placed a hand on her hip. "Is that a fact? Then I don't suppose you'll let me test that "heroic" heart of yours?"

I breathed. "Whatever it takes to show you I still love you."

The dark Alicorn grinned. "Well, here's what is going to happen. You're going to keep me and my slut company over night while my lord is away. Then, in the morning, if you proved to satisfy my needs, then we'll talk more.~"

Sex huh? Well, not the first time I got laid. "As you wish." Moon cooed before taking my hand and escorted me to the bed while Rarity smirked with lust. Both females began to undress me. I gave in and began my long threesome night with the dark mares. I pray I can bring them out of this...for all of Equestria.

Well, things certainly took a dark twist. Rarity got kidnapped, Sombra had been paired with Nightmare Moon, and some dark force is tampering with the events of this plane. To all those who are unfamiliar with the game of MTG, the beings known as eldrazi are perhaps the scariest monsters in existance and one of the nastiest blights in the back story of the game. I must apologize if this chapter seems off in any way, shape or form. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the original document for this chapter was deleted.
