Jamie and Eddie were awake in bed at 11pm taking turns trying to soothe a fussy baby, they were both just exhausted and wanted to go back to sleep.
"You sure she isn't hungry?" Jamie said over the crying, standing at the foot of the bed, rocking the baby back and forth in his arms.
"Yes I tried 3 times now, she's tired." Eddie said, she was running on a short fuse with the lack of sleep and the fact that neither her or Jamie could know right away what she needed.
"Okay sorry I asked." Jamie said annoyed at Eddies snippy attitude toward him. He kept trying. Eddie got up and went to get a swaddler and hat from the nursery.
"Let me try this." She said and laid it out on the bed. Jamie put her down and let Eddie swaddle her up with a hat. The crying slowed to a whine. Eddie scooped her up and walked around with a slight bounce to her step. Jamie watched as her work her magic and the crying stopped. She fell asleep in Eddies arms finally.
After she put her into the bassinet she sat in bed and Jamie laid down to go to sleep.
"Jamie what if something happens to us." Eddie said randomly.
"What are you talking about?" He replied.
"Like what if we both die." She said.
"Honey don't do that." He told her.
"No I'm serious. Who's going to take care of Alaina, we're the only two people who know her and her little quirks?" Eddie said.
"Well I know, that's something we still have to talk about with the rest of the family." Jamie told her and sat up.
"Wait but isn't that a decision we as her parents make on our own?" She asked confused.
"Of course but I think their input could help us a lot." He expressed.
"Okay...how though?" She questioned.
"Okay. Think about it this way. If you and I talk about it and come to a conclusion on who we'd want, who's to say they'd want the title?" He said. Eddie pondered it, understanding what he was saying.
"I guess you're right. Can we figure it out at dinner tomorrow night with them though?" She asked.
"If that's going to make you feel better of course. Besides we do have to start planning a baptism too, and godparents go hand in hand with that." He said.
"Yeah, forgot about all that." She said.
"We'll figure it out, don't stress about it. We can sit down and talk to everyone at dinner alright?" He kissed her after she agreed and then they went back to bed.

At dinner Eddie came back from the kitchen with a bottle and handed it to Jamie who was sitting at the table with a hangry baby. Jamie got it right in her mouth, trying to stop everyone's ears from ringing asap.
"Wow, shes got a set of lungs on her." Danny said.
"Oh but it's music to their ears I'm sure in the middle of the night." Frank smiled and said.
"Oh yes." Eddie said laughing at his joke.
"So Jamie, your back at work...how's it been?" Erin asked Eddie.
"Good actually! If he wasn't home for the nights I would probably have a different answer." Eddie said.
"Right, nights are just...a whole different game." Erin said agreeing.
"So wait you work all day and then are up most of the night? How aren't you tired?" Jack asked Jamie.
"Oh well most times Eddie takes care of it but I do wake up when I hear her, most times all I do is bring her to Eddie to get fed." Jamie said.
"Yeah I know he works long days and it's not fair to make him pull an all nighter too." Eddie said also defending him.
"Yeah, which is why I'm feeding her right now and not Eddie." He said and laughed, everyone else did too. Eddie shrugged her shoulders and kept eating enjoying the free hands.

After everyone was done eating dinner Jack and Sean were going to go throw a football outside with Joe. Everyone else started clearing the table and going their own ways. Eddie gave Jamie an eye.
"Hey wait, everyone just hold on a second." Jamie said, everyone stopped and listened.
"What's going on?" Pop asked.
"Me and Eddie had something we wanted everyone's opinion on." Jamie said.
"Alright well shoot." Danny said. Jamie initiated everyone to sit back down, so they did. Confused and concerned looks spread around the table.
"You guys can relax it's nothing bad" Eddie laughed looking at everyone. They all stopped holding their breath relieved.
"Ha yeah don't worry. So me and Eddie were talking last night about..." Jamie stopped and looked at eddie to finish his sentence.
"Godparents." She said.
"Oh." Frank said.
"And?" Erin asked holding Alaina.
"And we didn't make any decisions because we wanted to hear everyone's opinions first." Jamie said.
"Well I think it's safe to say me and pop aren't the smartest choice given our age..." Frank said and everyone nodded agreeing.
"I'd say the same for myself honestly." Erin added even though she loved her niece so much.
"Yeah I'm kinda out of the game too." Danny also said. Jamie and Eddie nodded along agreeing with everyone so far.
"Alright so that leaves us cousins." Jack pointed out.
"Right." Eddie said looking at all their faces thinking hard.
"Thoughts? And be honest, it's a big deal so don't feel obligated." Jamie told them.
"The idea of being responsible for someone so helpless like that scares that crap out me, not gonna lie." Jack said kinda laughing looking at the baby across the table.
"Hey that's okay, we understand!" Eddie told him so he wouldn't feel bad for nicely saying no.
"I can't. I wouldn't be good enough. Jack should be in line before I am!" Sean said shutting it down right away getting freaked out about the idea.
"Kids got a point, I mean he is the one who pointed out that babies start from goo...I mean can you blame him?" Danny said shrugging his shoulders making everyone laugh remembering that hilarious memory.
"Well I would be honored and take it very seriously if you were to choose me." Nikki said confidently, Jamie and Eddie both appreciated that.
"We kinda figured you'd be on board." Eddie said and winked at her, happy they had the godmother spot filled at least.
"what about you...Joe?" Jamie said anxiously waiting to see what he had to say.
"...well I mean, yeah. Babies don't scare me at all honestly. I look forward to having kids some day and wouldn't be opposed to the possibility of one that wouldn't be my own, obviously that would be tragic and we wouldn't want that but I'd try my hardest and give her the best life I could offer, my kid or not." He said in all seriousness, Eddie started crying and smiling. Jamie laughed at her and rubbed her back liking what he said.
"I can't. I can't. Come here." Eddie said crying her eyes out she got up and walked around the table to give Joe a big hug, she was so grateful about what he said and how he said it. The rest of the family smiled at the sweetness of the moment.
"Yeah I think he's gonna be your best bet." Sean said realizing him and Jack really had no prayer and couldn't top that speech. It made everyone laugh thinking the same thing.
"Alright so I think you got your answer?" Frank asked them.
"Yeah I think we did." Eddie said and smiled at Jamie. He smiled back and grabbed her hand.
