Chapter 19th

Just when Bishop was going to shut down the recordings on the computer terminal. A new call was coming in for which Bishop needed to listen in...

"Brighton, Chow and the others were unsuccessful. Now we need to put plan B into action with my own men to go after Vance and Gibbs at the hospital. I need to keep Fornell away from the both of them getting him involved with another case."

"Than do so Jerome, too much money is involved with this operation and I will be damn to have Vance and Gibbs get in the way of it." Captain Brighton said over the phone from his office of the regional office.

"I will survey the area of the hospital to have my men figure out when will be the best time to take him out. There won't be no further contact for at least a few days." Jerome ended his conversation from the hallway of the hospital for where Gibbs was located in ICU.

Meanwhile ...

Eleanor Bishop was scared. She replayed the call to Mcgee and Torres in the bullpen. "I just don't believe this Mcgee to have the F.B.I.
behind it?" She stated trying to calm her nerves with hearing Mcgee say that he was heading up to speak with Vance in his office. "Wait! We need to let Fornell know all this now."

"I will call him Elle, while Mcgee goes to talk with Leon Vance.

"What did you just say to me Special Agent Mcgee?" Director Vance was mad as hell that his team was keeping secrets from him.

"Sir, Special Agent Fornell asked us to check into his suspicious about his regional boss that has turned out to be true all along. Captain Errol Brighton has been behind the executions of killing Phineas aunt and uncle, along with the shootings of Gibbs, Loreile and the tampering of Ducky's brakes. And now we have found out with a new call that they will be going after Gibbs at the hospital. Besides yourself sir with another hitman going after you."

"Damn it! This is really crazy now to have everyone at NCIS being targeted accept for Lt. Baskins of the Evergreen safehouse. I will contact everyone to have agents sent to the hospital to keep an eye out on Gibbs and Lt. Baskins in case they decide to take her out as well. And in the meantime I need to speak with agent Fornell right away. Understand the order Special Agent Mcgee?" Vance shrugged now standing up from his chair. The tension was beginning to overtake the director of NCIS.

"Torres will be calling him to give him all of the details of the phone calls and including today's. He's not going to be happy to find out that his partner Jerome is behind it as well." Mcgee said with slight anger in his tone and overall demeanor.

"Go and get moving Mcgee, while I make those calls right away." Vance replied with watching Mcgee leave his office.

Hospital

Special Agent Gibbs was restless while laying in his hospital bed. His right thigh and shoulder was beginning to bother him again with the painkillers wearing off. He needed to press the button to call for his nurse to help him with the request.

It didn't take long for a young nurse came in with a syringe and his chart. However Gibbs noticing that there was two agents outside his ICU for which he knew them.

"I have what you need Mr. Gibbs. Doctor Taft is next door making rounds and will be giving you the shot himself in a moment." She stated with placing the syringe back into her uniform for now.

"What's with the guards outside my room nurse?" Gibbs needed to ask with his curiosity kicking in at high gear.

"I don't know agent Gibbs, however Doctor Taft will explain." It was a moment later when Doctor Taft walked in by himself leaving his three associates outside his room.

"What's going on Doc?" Gibbs asked calmly the best he could with his training.

"Orders from Director Vance, you're going to be protected 24/7 until the emergency is over. But for now deal with it while I give you the painkiller that I know you need."

The nurse had taken it out of her uniform pocket handing it to him into his right hand. He had filled it himself earlier making sure everything was going to be alright without anyone trying to kill him once again.

"I will leave you doctor to check on other patients while you speak with your patient." She says with leaving the unit to head down the hall.

Gibbs tried to turn slightly to face Taft checking the amount of the syringe that he was going to inject into Gibbs vein of his right arm. "What's going on Doctor Taft to have guards outside my door?"

"I believe it has something to do with hitmen trying to kill you. Actually I understand that certain agents of the F.B.I. is behind it with Agent Fornell trying to figure out a course of action with Vance and Fornell needing to protect you and Lt. Baskins while you're here."

"Just god damn great Doc! What else is going to happen to me ?" He exclaimed with his temper flaring as with his heart rate and blood pressure.

"Jethro, you will need to calm down or you're going to wind up in cardiac arrest for which we don't need to happen now with the situation." Cyril takes off his glasses to wipe them before placing them back on his face.

Shaking his head in sheer disgust. "Alright I will calm down doc. Please give me the syringe before I tell you to forget it." Gibbs threatened his doctor to have Taft slightly chuckled at him.

"Just be quiet Gibbs while I plunge the painkiller into your vein. Afterwards we will see what I can do with getting something wonderful to eat. Hopefully your friend Fornell will be here to discuss his plan further to protect you in this room."
