"How's the ring coming along?"

Link looked up from his work to see Mayor Bo standing next to him, peering over his shoulder at the silver ring. He took a deep breath, wiping his forehead as he moved to put the ring into the water to cool it off. It was his third attempt at it. His first two tries had ended badly and he had become concerned at one point before calming down.

"It's um… coming along the best I can do," Link replied with a slight laugh.

Mayor Bo nodded as he watched him bring up the ring to examine it. It looked much better than the other attempts. He chuckled as he remembered Link's father, Drustan's work with Evie's ring. It looked very much like that same engagement ring. He wished he still had it; but it had gone missing long ago.

It sucked considering how Link could've given it to Zelda, following in his dad's footsteps. But he was still following in Drustan's footsteps by crafting his own ring.

"It looks better!" Mayor Bo grinned, patting him on the shoulder. Link smiled back, gazing at the ring with slight nerves and doubts growing in his mind.

"Do you think she'll say yes to me?" he asked shyly. He never felt like this towards someone else before; Zelda managed to make him feel like he was on top of the world before anyone else.

"Hmm? You're in doubt? Son, I don't think I ever heard you speak so highly of someone before. I don't have a doubt that she'll say yes."

Link smiled softly as he looked at the cooling ring. "Thanks, Mayor Bo."

Mayor Bo nodded before stepping back to watch as Link looked down at the ring, his tongue between his lip and teeth; almost like a kitten. He chuckled, remembering how Drustan would act like that as well. He couldn't help but wonder what Link was thinking until he watched him pick up a skinny nail to carve something into the ring. He blinked, peering over to see what he was writing until he realized he was writing in Hylian.

You're My Everything

He was taken aback at how Link knew how to write in the ancient language before remembering he worked at the castle where there was a huge library; he must've taken a book to learn about the language. The phrase was simple but he could tell by the look in Link's eyes that it meant a whole lot to him.

No doubt it would mean a whole lot to Zelda as well.

"When did you learn Hylian?" Mayor Bo asked, arching an eyebrow.

Link shrugged. "I had some free time back at the castle. I took a look in the library and found a book on the language," he explained.

"Certainly came in handy," Mayor Bo mumbled. "Looks well, son. I'm proud of you. Drustan would be prouder than anyone else in this village! That's for sure."

"Thanks."

With another sharp nod, Mayor Bo left to leave him to work until he was satisfied with the ring. Link took a huge breath before deciding it was as good as it would ever be, hoping Zelda would like the effort he put into it.

He slumped down after placing the ring on the cooling table. The sun was hot and everyone else was at the water, playing away or chatting to cool themselves off. Epona was drinking the water while Ilia and Fado brushed her mane and tail; he was the only one working hard and all he could think about was finishing up the ring.

His mind wandered over to what Zelda had said. She had agreed to a Ordon wedding. A small wedding with no nobles, no big announcement to the whole Kingdom; nothing. It would probably be a first. He couldn't help but feel pride over it, but he also questioned if the Hero of Time had a small wedding.

Link bit his lip softly as he thought about what type of dress she would probably wear and smiled softly. He could see the simplest of a dress making her standout than anyone else; because sometimes the simplest of things was enough.

Yes, he'd loved to see her in a simple Ordon wedding dress.

He hoped it would be good enough for her.

"How's the ring?" Colin asked shyly as he walked to him, making Link look up at him.

"Comin' along fine," replied Link. "It's just coolin' down now."

Colin sat next to him. "I can't believe you're going to be marrying Princess Zelda."

"If she says yes."

"She will," Colin replied with confidence. "If she's with you now— I don't doubt she'll marry you. If you're making a ring for her; she must be really in love with you like my parents are. Like Ilia and Fado are too."

Link froze.

"Ilia and Fado?" he repeated. "They're…?"

"Yeah," Colin nodded. "But it's only been for a few days. You didn't miss much with them. We missed more with you and Zelda together than anything. Nothing compares to your love story."

Link chuckled as he ruffled Colin's hair. "Thanks, kiddo."

Talo came running over, tugging on Colin's hand to get him to his feet with a smirk. "C'mon, Colin!" he tugged. "You're on my team!"

"Again?" Colin stressed. "I thought I was suppose to be on Beth's team this time."

"Na!" Talo shook his head, puffing out his cheeks. "You're on mine."

Link chuckled as he watched Talo tug Colin along, making him stand up with a smile before he glanced over to the ring. He picked it up with his bare hand and nodded with happiness when he realized it was cool off.

Perfect.

He placed the ring back in his pocket before waltzing to get his tunic, placing the ring in his pouch before heading out. He wanted to cool off before anything.

"Oi," Rusl called from the water. He had jumped in due to his son's pleading along with Jaggle pulling him in. "Come on in, Link!"

"Give me a moment," Link nodded, pulling off his shirt, leaving him in his pants before he took off his sandals before jumping into the water, making a huge splash happen before he came back up.

Talo laughed as he jumped onto Link's back, sending him slightly back underneath the water before he steadied himself. Link chuckled as he watched the others kids play with Jaggle and Rusl, climbing onto their backs the best they could. Malo was next to his mother who was next to Uli and Lexi, watching them all play.

Lexi's eyes never left her brother as she watched him play with his friends and their brotherly figure. There was the slight wish she could join in but she was far too young to go into the water without an adult helping her, getting her used to the feeling.

Ilia watched with laughter as Link and Talo tried knocking Colin and Rusl, Beth and Jaggle down into the water. She wouldn't admit it, but Link looked good with kids and couldn't help but wonder if he and Zelda would have kids themselves one day. She glanced over to Fado and bit her lip; would he want kids one day too?

No, she couldn't be thinking that ahead; they had only begun to date a few days before.

"Feel better?" Uli asked as Link and Talo knocked Colin and Rusl out of the game.

"It beats being near fire in the hot sun," Link smirked. "I feel better already."

Rusl chuckled. "Well, ye ain't going to the castle covered in sweat."

"That's a plus," agreed Link.

He couldn't wait to ask Zelda to marry him.

Zelda had just finished up her paperwork when a cup of water was placed next to her. She nodded her thanks to the staff member before leaning back in her chair. Link had been gone all day at Ordon. Egil had said it was for a visit; so she didn't worry about him, but she missed him.

She had spent her breaks at the gardens, talking to her deceased grandmother like always as she watered the flowers. If the Silent Princesses died, she knew where to get some more; but they were growing on their own.

It made her happy to know Link had remade her gardens, even if she did command him to stop. She could bet her ancestors were happy to see their gardens restored to the former glory; even if it wasn't by royal hands. She didn't care that much as long as she had her sacred haven to go to whenever she needed to clear her mind.

"Hey, miss me?" Zelda's eyes snapped towards the door and she smiled when she saw Link coming through the door.

She stopped when she saw his hair.

"Your hair is soaking wet," she laughed.

"The kids dragged me into the water," Link chuckled. "Gotta say, it was nice to feel the coldness in such hot weather. I'm happy I did join them."

Zelda giggled. "How was Ordon?"

"Perfect but hot," Link sighed with happiness as he sat down next to her on the desk, ignoring the look she sent him. "I missed ya, darlin'."

"I missed you, too," Zelda replied.

Link smirked as he planted a kiss on her cheek. The ring in his pouch but he wouldn't bring it out yet; it had to be perfect and just the right moment where he would ask her.

"How was the day with the nobles and Christopher?" he asked, enjoying whenever she would vent about them.

Instantly, Zelda groaned. "Terrible," she explained. "The nobles are starting to talk about marriage for me— they act like Christopher! They can't understand why I turned down Prince Andrew."

"I'll make 'em understand," Link offered. "I'm sure they'll listen to me."

"Let them talk, I know who my heart belongs to."

Link's smile grew in size as he winked. "Good, darlin'. I hate if you didn't know who the heart belonged to."

"Oh, very funny," Zelda rolled her eyes.

Link chuckled before he stood up, kissing her softly before heading towards the door with a grin. He couldn't wait to ask her to marry him when he felt like he was ready; like she was ready for the big step. Did he know they still had to come out to everyone else? Yeah, but that would come soon enough.

But he couldn't wait to make her officially his wife, and to officially be her husband.

Neither could his wolf.
