Scott In Name Only

Chapter 28

6 Months Later

It's March. In the span of three months. Summer will be here. And the school year will come to a close. It feels like nothing is the same anymore. Which is the point i guess of life. Things change for the better and the worst. Depending on how you look at it.

I'm still grappling with this diagnosis. This is a lifelong situation. I have to face but i'll admit it's a relief to know what's wrong.

Tristan stopped reading his latest journal entry and looked up.

The therapist looked up from the notes she was writing and focused on Tristan.

"How did it feel writing out you're feelings.? I know you are one who doesn't normally express emotions outwardly." She asked.

"Weird and it was hard to do at first. But once i got started it was easier. I feel closer to my mom in a way. Which probably sounds strange." Tristan replied.

"Not at all Tristan. You're mother's connection and love for you was pure and honest. Finding out that you share the same mental illness she had must have brought on multiple feelings at once." The therapist stated.

"Honestly it was a relief. To finally know what was wrong with me. I had been so up and down with my feelings for years and could never figure out why. But i know that my mom's fate will not be mine. I'm doing what i have to do to manage my illness. Which is therapy and taking my medication." Tristan.

"That is the best way to handle disorder is manageable with the proper care. You have a loving strong support system. Which is a gift. I hope you appreciate."

"Now onto a topic i've been wanting to dive into since you brought up you're mother. You're father's girlfriend Brooke Davis. Why is there such a wall up between you and her. I mean you don't even call her by her first name. You call her miss Davis. It's respectful but formal as if she's new to you're life and keeping her at arms length. Is a way of protecting yourself."

"Unless that is you're goal to protect yourself and keep her away.?" The therapist asked.

"My dad is free to date whoever he wants. Brooke makes him happy and that's all i care about." Tristan replied.

"You are deflecting Tristan. What is you're issue with Brooke.?" She asked.

Tristan remained silent and stared down at his phone.

"You're assignment for the next time i see you is this. To spend quality time with Brooke. Just the two of you. We meet again in a few weeks. Tell me how it goes." She proclaims.

"What did i already agree to young lady.?" Brooke asked. As she entered the dining room

"Me going to the movies with friends." Angela said.

"It's a date." Asher interjected.

"We have a rule about dating. Not until you're 16 only group outings for now." Brooke replied.

"But all my friends are going out on dates now. I can't be the only one who isn't.!" Angela exclaimed.

"That's those parents problem. We have these rules for a reason." Lucas stated.

"You're father is right. This is what's best for now. Trust us." Brooke replied.

"I'm eating dinner in my room.!" Angela announced storming off.
