Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS: The true sequel

This is the story of what happens after the end of the VRAINS anime. With the Ignis incident now behind them, everyone returns to their normal lives. But now Yusaku has lost his partner and has locked himself away in depression. Meanwhile, Aoi is dealing with her own troubles in the form of an overprotective older brother. Will the two become each other's hopes? Find out!

19. Chapter 19: Tag duel for freedom

"DUEL!"

Playmaker & Blue Maiden: LP: 8000, H: 5 each.
VS
Akira & Ghost Girl.: LP: 8000, H: 5 each.

The 4 duelists shouted in unison and the field appeared before them. Playmaker and Blue Maiden were going first while Akira and Ghost Girl were taking the second turn. Yusaku was the first one to make a move, and looking at his cards, he knew a good way to defend for this turn, and they needed it. Both Ghost Girl and Akira were good duelists, meaning he couldn't afford to leave openings. No, for Aoi, he had to make sure the 2 will be still in the game at the end of her brother's turn.

"My turn!" Yusaku declared. "I activate the Continuous Spell, Cynet Optimization. Due to its effect, I gain an extra normal summon during my turn. I summon using its effect and my normal summon for the turn to summon those 2 monsters. Come, Garbage Collector and Flame Bufferlo!"

2 monsters appeared on Yusaku's field, one looking like a trash can with mechanical arms and a sad face on it with multiple cubic objects inside it; 100/1900, LVL 2, Cyberse, WIND. The other monster looked like a black mechanical buffalo with blue energy lines, its horns, and tails made of blue fire which turned violet towards the tips; 1400/200, LVL 3, Cyberse, FIRE.

"I see. " Akira said as he checked the effects of the 2 monsters. "Using Garbage Collector to trigger Flame Bufferlo's effect and gaining extra cards while also summoning a new monster from your deck. A good move."

"Garbage Collector's effect!" Yusaku declared. "I return Flame Bufferla to my hand, then the effect of Flame Bufferlo triggers, I discard Armored Bitron in order to draw 2 new cards!" Yusaku slid the card in the graveyard, then drew 2 new cards. "Then, Garbage Collector's effect continues! I summon Code Generator!"

A monster resembling one of Yusaku's ace, Transcode Talker, but smaller and using a handgun appeared; 1300/500, LVL 3, Cyberse, EARTH. "Next, I activate the continuos spell, Cynet Codec!" Yusaku declared. "Appear! The circuit that leads to the future!" The link circuit appeared. " The summoning conditions are 2 effect monsters! I set Garbage Collector and Code Generator in the link marker zones!" His 2 monsters turned into whirlwinds and went into the circuit. " Circuit combine! Come, Code Talker!" A monster covered in greyish armor holding a blueish energy sword in its hand appeared on the field in the Extra Monster Zone;1300/LINK-2, Cyberse, DARK, LM: T, B.

" The effects of Cynet Codec and Code Generator activate! I add one monster with the same attribute as Code Talker from my deck to my hand due to Cynet Codec, and 1 monster with 1200 or less attack due to Code Generator since I used him on the field." 2 cards popped out of his duel disk, and Yusaku grabbed them.

His hand was now sitting at a good 5 cards with Flame Bufferlo in it. " Akira, I know you have doubts about me being able to keep Aoi safe, especially after what I am about to do."

"What do you-"

"I activate the field spell, Ignister A.I. Land!" Akira's and Emma's jaws hit the floor the moment that card was played. " Due to its effect, I can special summon an Ignister from my hand as long as I do not control any monsters in my main monster zones. Come out, Achichi Ignister!"

A little red monster appeared on the field, having no human-like characteristic whatsoever and looking merely as a red being; 800/800, LVL 2, Cyberse, FIRE.

" What's the meaning of this, Playmaker?!" Akira shouted, then pointed at Achichi. "Why do you have the Ignister deck Ai used? And why are you using it? That is the deck that Ai used to pick us like weeds once by one, the one he used to fight you! So why?"

"Because this is the last thing I have from Ai," Yusaku answered. "Akira, you weren't there when I defeated him, so you wouldn't know. No one would. But what Ai did was not out of ill will towards humanity. He did because there was no other choice."

"Bullshit!" Akira shouted. " If he wanted to do what was better, he wouldn't have betrayed us!"

"He had no other choice! " Aoi shouted, surprising Akira. "Yusaku told me about it...Just listen."

"Ai returned to the Ignis world after I defeated Bohman and found multiple simulations ran by Lightning. All resulted in humanity being destroyed if he was the only Ignis left."

"What?" Emma gasped. "But they could've been lies, right?"

"That's what he thought as well. But he ran multiple other simulations right after those. No change in the result. But what marked him the most was that he saw me getting killed in each one." Yusaku clenched his fist. "In the end, he did what he did so I would have no second thoughts on dueling him and winning."

Everyone was silent, the truth is brought to light. But Akira clenched his fist. " His reason might've been noble, but that does not erase his sins!"

" I know. But in his honor, I will use his deck, the only thing he left behind for me, and win this duel" Yusaku declared.

" Then I will take revenge for what he did to me and Aoi by defeating you, Playmaker! No, Yusaku Fujiki!" Akira shouted.

"Then so be it. Resume the duel!" Yusaku said. "Achichi's effect activates! When this card is normal or special summon, I can add one Level 4 or lower Ignister from my deck to my hand. I choose Bururu Ignister. Then, I activate the spell card, Un-Link! By sending one Cyberse Link monster back to my Extra Deck, I can summon the monsters used for its summon from the graveyard! Resurrect, Garbage Collector, and Code Generator!" Code Talker vanished, the monsters used for his summon taking its place.

"Appear!" Yusaku clenched his fist. "The circuit that guides the dark!" A shadow loomed over from his feet, extending towards the middle of the field. A Link Circuit appearing in the middle. " The summoning conditions are 3 monsters with different names! I set Achichi, Garbage Collector, and Code Generator in the link marker zones!" Yusaku's monster turned to mist and went into the circuit, lighting up 3 arrows. "The creation of dark shadows, gather in my hand, and become the source of rising vigor! Link Summon! Appear, Dark Templar Ignister!"

A new monster appeared on the field, and this one looked a lot like Decode Talker in some way. Its body was black with purple lines running along and was covered in deep purple armor with several blue crystals embedded into its body. It wielded a blade, and had 2 extensions that came from its back like wings; 2300/LINK-3, Cyberse, DARK, LM: B-L, B, B-R.

" Another Ignister…" Akira muttered.

"I set one card face-down, ending my turn." Yusaku declared. "Now, Akira, show me you can defeat me while I have Ai's power!"

"True, the Ignister deck is a powerful deck, and quite difficult to outdo, but not impossible!" He exclaimed. "My turn! I draw!" Akira drew his card and looked at his options. He couldn't attack during his first turn in a tag duel, so he had to work around that. "I activate the effect of Tindangle Jhrelth in my hand! I send another card in my hand to the graveyard along with a Tindangle from my deck to special summon this in face-down defense position!"

A face-down card appeared on the field. "Brother… "Aoi muttered looking at her brother. This all happened because she ran, but what was she to do? He was smothering her with his overprotective behavior ever since the AI incident, and she just couldn't take it anymore. Did she regret it? Yes, deeply. She regretted running, but not what happened after she ran.

She got to see a side of Yusaku she did not know he did. They were the same - lonely and just found each other, offering comfort and warmth where once was cold solitude. Now, her brother, angry at what she did, was trying to take her back, but Yusaku was not letting him. If she and he won, then Aoi might be freed, but what of her brother? What will become of him? Will he be happy for her, or…?

"I activate the continuos spell, Stairs of Mail! Next, I set another monster, and use the effect of Stairs of Mail! I discard a card in my hand to flip my monster face-up. Appear, Tindangle Angel!" A monster seemingly composed of weird pinkish tendrils with blueish round stones inside its body and brownish wings along with a strange face appeared on the field; 500/1800, LVL 4, Fiend, Flip, DARK. "Angel's effect! I special summon a Tindangle monster from my grave in a face-down defense position. I select Tindangle Intruder!"

Another face-down appeared on the field. "Then, I activate the spell card, Tindangle Infestation! Due to its effect, I flip as many Tindangle monsters on my field to face-up defense position as possible and draw 1 card for each monster flipped this way. Appear, Intruder, Jhrelth!"

2 monsters revealed themselves in Akira's field. The first being a green pyramid of sorts with triangle devices generating energy all around it while also having the white silhouette of a monster in its center; 0/1800, LVL 3, Fiend, Flip, DARK. And the second being a worm-like monster no eyes and a triangular collar of sorts around its neck; 2200/0, LVL 6, Fiend, Flip, DARK.

"I draw 2 cards, then their effects activate! Due to Jhrelth and Intruder, I add 2 more Tindangle monsters to my hand!" Akira drew 2 cards, then 2 cards popped out of his deck and he took them, adding them to his now nearly full hand.

"He is not holding back," Yusaku noted as he watched Akira. His moves were strong, and calculated, his defense as tough as he remembered. It is going to be just as hard as last time to defeat him. Especially now that he doesn't have...AI, by his side. But that is already in the past. He has his deck, so he can do this.

Aoi showed him he shouldn't be trapped in the past as well, not anymore, and instead look towards the future. Ai...he did all those things to prevent calamity, and Yusaku is going to make sure his sacrifice does not go in vain. But also, he will make sure he doesn't allow Akira to draw Aoi back into her loneliness.

"I got some good cards…" Akira's eyes shot up at Yusaku, anger lighting up a flame in them. "I activate the spell card, Tindangle Shelter! I flip all monsters I control face-down, and for each monster flipped face-down by this effect you take 300 points of damage! Take this!"

As Akira's monsters went back in face-down, 3 flames appeared above each card, 1 from each, and shot at Yusaku, making him flinch and blue static ran over his body.

Playmaker & Blue Maiden: LP: 7100.

"I set 2 cards face-down, ending my turn. Now, at this moment, the effect of Tindangle Infestation would've dealt me 300 points of damage for each face-up monster I control, but since I control none I do not take damage."

"Phew! Way to go, sugar. You dealt damage without attacking and you have a nice defense to back you up. That's my hubby" Akira blushed slightly, averting his gaze from Emma. Aoi and Yusaku looked at the 2 with confused looks, before it clicked to Aoi.

"You are dating Emma?" Aoi asked.

"I, we...yes," Akira admitted, his head hanging down which made Emma giggle seeing him.

"Don't worry, I am taking good care of him. " Emma assured Aoi.

"Pretty sure he'd be afraid of Blood Sheperd," Aoi muttered looking at them. Yusaku stayed silent, stoic as ever. But in his mind…

"Akira is done for…"

"Can we return to the duel?" And so, the soon-to-be murdered talks.

"Oh...Right…" Aoi says putting her hand over her duel disk. "Come on, you cannot mess up. Not this time! This time, you are not being the one getting saved again, you are fighting alongside him, after all." She inhaled deeply and exhaled. "My turn! I draw!" She drew her card.

And what a card. Aoi smiled, then looked at the field, her gaze fixed on her brother. " Brother, watch closely, this is the power I acquired together with Yusaku by training alongside him!" Akira winched at that. First name basis? " I summon Marincess Delphine!" A female monster dressed in a simple grey dress with straps over her shoulders and long dark-grey gloves wearing a tiara with a blue crystal init appeared on the field; 1500/800, LVL 4, Cyberse, WATER.

" That monster's-" Emma gasped when she checked the effects of Delphine, and she knew what was coming.

"Delphine's effect! When there is a Cyberse Link Monster on the field, I can use it along with other monsters on the field or in my hand to Fusion Summon one Marincess Fusion Monster form my Extra Deck! Furthermore, if that monster is Link-3 or higher, I can declare the name of one Cyberse Link Monster that has been on the field, and use it from the Extra Deck!"

" You can Fusion summon using Marincess now?" Akira asked surprised. He knew the deck his sister received from the Ignis was powerful, but he knew for a fact it did not contain anything aside Link Monsters. This was...Surprising. Especially such an effect, using monsters straight from the Extra Deck.

" The summoning conditions are 1 Marincess monster plus one Link monster! I fuse Delphine along with Code Talker!" She looked at Yusaku. " Yusaku, lend me your strength." Yusaku nodded and put his arm forth.

"The brave ones wonder towards the depths of the ocean!" Yusaku began as their monsters disintegrated into a red and blue stream and began to spiral around one another.

"Surface to the sun, and dive into the world as a new legend!" Aoi continued.

"FUSION SUMMON!" they both shouted in unison, then Aoi continued. "Appear, Level 7, Marincess Tethis!" A larger female monster appeared on Blue Maiden's field, wearing a pure white dress with long gloves running up to her elbows, shoes of cyan crystal, and an ornament on her head revealing itself from under her hair on her forehead holding a black crystal in the center. Her hair was a flowing light blue like a clean river and a piece of silky see-through cloth flew around her, the ends being held under her armpits; 2400/2000, LVL 7, Cyberse, Fusion, WATER.

" Oh, my" Emma looked at Tethis, impressed by how far Aoi has come. She is not the same little girl she had caught spying on them using a butterfly anymore.

"The effect of Tethis activates upon being Fusion summoned! I target one Link monster on the field and special summon a Watery Token on my field for each of its Link Markers. I target Dark Templar Ignister for this effect! Meaning that we get 3 Tokens!" 3 small blobs of water appeared on the field; 0/0, LVL 1, Cyberse, WATER. "I set 2 cards face-down from my hand, and end my turn."

" My, you certainly improved since I last saw you duel." Emma looked at Tethis and Dark Templar, then at Yusaku and Aoi. If Yusaku hadn't summoned Dark Templar then Delphine's effect couldn't have been used, yet, he even let her use a Link monster from his Extra Deck as material. Those either planned this or were doing well as a couple. " But now it is my turn. I draw!"

Emma put her card with the others and licked her lips seeing her options. So much she could do if she could've attacked, but she had to make do with what she had. Akira was taking up 3 monster zones and spell and trap card zones, leaving her with little room to work with. It didn't help that their decks had little to no synergy with one another while their opponents clearly had that. Overall, there was little she could do, really. But they still had an Extra Monster Zone.

"I summon Altergesit Marionetter from my hand!" A monster with a slight female resemblance on its upper body appeared, its lower body consisting of a disk of sorts with lines of code running on the edges and a few strange appendages extending from behind the monster; 1600/1700, LVL 4, Spellcaster, LIGHT. " Due to her effect, I set Altergeist Haunted Rock from my deck!"

"Why say the name of the trap you said out loud?" Aoi asked.

"Because I can activate the turn it was set, that's why." Emma winked. "I activate my trap card, Altergeist Haunted Rock! Due to its effect, I must send one Altergeist monster from my hand to the graveyard" She slit the card in her graveyard, but then smiled. " Next, I use Marionetter's effect to send her to the graveyard and summon another Altergeist monster which is there."

Ghost Girl's monster let out a sinister chuckle as it went inside a portal that appeared behind it, then the shadow of a new monster appeared. " Come out, Melussek!" Another female-like monster emerged, this one resembling a mermaid in shape; 500/300, LVL 1, Spellcaster, WATER.

" Meluseek? But due to the rules of a tag duel, you cannot attack during your first turn." Yusaku pointed out.

"Maybe, but I can still do other things." She pointed up. " Appear! The circuit that connects to the unknown parallel universe!" The circuit appeared. " The summoning conditions is 1 Altergeist monster. I set Meluseek in the Link Marker zones!" Meluseek flew into the circuit, sinking into the light it produced. "Link Summon! Come out, Altergeist Gleipnier!" A monster appeared from the portal, its upper body being of deep blue while the rest turned into a shadowy form which split into 3 tentacles at the back, giving the monster the appearance of a serpent of some kind; 1000/LINK-1, Spellcaster, DARK, LM: B.

" That monster is new…" Aoi muttered.

" And look at this. Gleipnier's effect! Once per turn, I can send a spell or trap on my field to the graveyard in order to add one Altergesit spell or trap card to my hand, or simply send it to the graveyard. Hubby? Do you mind if I send Stairs of Mail to the grave?"

Akira sighed a bit, but then he replied. "If it will earn us victory."

" Yay!" Emma exclaimed as she got the ok from Akira. "I send Stairs of Mail to the graveyard in order to add Altergesit Failover to my hand. Next, the effect of Meluseek activates, giving me yet another card. I set a card, ending my turn."

They all looked at each other, the turn being Yusaku's once again. Now, since everyone had a turn, they could attack, meaning that it was time to go full out or give up, and Yusaku was not giving up on Aoi.

"My turn! I draw!" Yusaku pointed at Tethis. "I use the effect of Tethis! Once per turn, I can tribute one WATER monster on the field in order to increase her attack by 1000!" A blob of water went from the field up to Tethis, who held it gently in her hand as her attack increased 2400-3400. "Battle! I attack Gleipnier with Dark Templar!"

"Sorry, but I cannot have that. I activate the effect of Kunquery in my hand to-"

"I activate my face-down card! The counter trap, A.I. Shout! If my opponent activates a spell, trap, or monster effect while I control a Ignister monster that was summoned from the Extra Deck, that card is negated, and you cannot use the effect of cards with the same name until the next turn's end phase! Furthermore, if this card negated a monster effect, you take damage equal to its attack!"

"Kunquery has 0 Attack points, so I take no damage!" Ghost Girl said, but Yuskau smirked.

"But the battle now continues unhindered."

Emma put her arms up as Dark Templar slashed Gleipnier in two.

Akira & Ghost Girl: 6700

"That was a nasty trick…"

"Dark Templar's effect! When I destroy your monster in battle, I resurrect a Cyberse from the grave. Return, Code Generator!" Yusaku said as his monster appeared back in defense mode.

"But why didn't they attack with Thetis?" Akira asked, pointing out the obvious. "If they did, the damage would be higher, yet they used Dark Templar. It couldn't be the trap as it only required them to control the Ignister monster."

"Correct" Aoi chimed in, looking at them. "The reason being that we wanted to make full use of Tethis's effect. During the battle phase in which her previous effect was used, if another Cyberse monster destroys an opponent's monster by battle, we can add one monster card from the graveyard back to the hand." Aoi smirked while Yusaku recovered a card from his graveyard - that being Achichi - and added it back to his hand.

"Then you fell for my trap. I activate my face-down, Unexpected Infection!" Akira shouted as he revealed his trap. "When my opponent adds a card to their hand outside the Draw Phase, we can select 1 monster on the field and make it unable to attack! I target Thetis for this effect!" tendrils shot out from Akira's card, going straight for Thetis which was ensnared by them, causing her to yell out.

"Furthermore, this card remains on the field for as long as the monster it targeted does as well, meaning that Thetis' ability to attack was sealed!"

Aoi clicked her tongue, but Yusaku was not going to let Akira get away with it easily. "Aoi!"

"Do it!"

"I activate the trap, Marincess Journey!" As soon as the trap was activated, the field became flooded. "I banish any number of WATER Cyberse monsters on the field in order to target just as many cards on the field and destroy them! I banish the tokens!"

"How about not! I activate the effect of Haunted Rock, sending another copy of Meluseek to the grave to negate your trap and destroy it!" A ray of light shot from Emma's card, striking Marincess Journey and destroying it.

Yusaku clicked his tongue seeing as his moves were countered. But at least both him and Aoi still had options in their hands. Yusaku's and Aoi's hands were sitting at a nice number each with Flame bufferlo being one of them.

"I am moving onto my Main Phase 2, and from my hand, I set a card face-down! I end my turn with that."

"You did well, Yusaku," Aoi said looking at her partner. True, that went well, managing to deal a lot of damage in the process, but still...It was Akira's turn.

"My turn! I draw!" And he was not waiting around. "I flip up all my monsters!" All of Akira's monster revealed themselves. "Then I use their effects to add a Tindangle card, a Flip monster, and resurrect Tindangle Hound from my grave in face-down defense position." A new face-down appeared on the field as Akira's hand up to 4.

"I activate my face-down, the quick-play spell, Breaking Point Codex! Due to its effect, I can flip up one monster on my field to face-up attack position." Akira stated. 'Come, Hound!" The face-down card flipped up, revealing another strange-looking monster 2 legs in front ending in 4 claws, one being longer on each, making it resemble a blade and a long body sustained by 3 pairs of blade-looking legs. The creature itself having no eyes, except for one in its mouth from where a long tongue was hanging out; 2500/0, LVL 7, Fiend, Flip, DARK. "Furthermore, his effect comes into play, making every monster lose 1000 attack points for each monster it is linked with! Hell Howling!" Hound howled at Yusaku and Aoi's field, and their monster's attack points all went down. Dark Templar: 1300. Tethis: 1400. Code Generator: 300.

"Then, the rest of Breaking Point Codex's effect resolves, forcing me to Link Summon!"

"Link Summon?" Yusaku echoed.

"It's coming, my brother's ace monster."

"Appear! The circuit that betrays the gods!" The link circuit appeared. "The summoning conditions are 3 Tindangle monsters! I set Intruder, Jhrelth, and Angel in the Link marker zones! Circuit combine!" After the 3 monsters entered the circuit, flames poured from it, descending on the field and leaving behind a gate. "Show yourself, Tindangle Acute Cerberus!"

The gates opened to reveal 3 red lights staring through the dark, then a wave of fire erupted from within, revealing Akira's ace monster. Similar with Hound, but with a bigger body and 3 heads as well as 2 wing-like appendages on its back; 0/LINK-3, Fiend, DARK.

"Acute Cerberus…" Yusaku muttered looking at the 3-headed hound before him. He knew full well that Akira was not going to give up easily, and this was proof of that.

"I discard Tindangle Base Gardna from my hand in order to activate the spell, Mirage of Crux! Due to its effect, my opponent cannot activate trap card effects during the battle phase this turn!"

Yusaku narrowed his eyes at Akira. "Then, since I have at least 3 Tindangle monsters in the grave, including Tindangle Base Gardna, Cerberus gains 3000 attack points!" 0-3000. "Battle! I attack Dark Templar with Cerberus! Acute Math Blaze!" Cerberus opened his 3 mouths and fire came out of them, going straight for Dark Templar and incinerating him on the spot.

Yusaku screamed as the force from the flames reached him, sending him falling on his back.

Playmaker & Blue Maiden: LP: 5400.

"Yusaku!" Aoi cried out to him, the hero of Vrains slowly getting up. "Are you alright?"

"Yes, just shaken up a bit." He turned his attention to the field. "I activate our face-down!"

"But you cannot use trap cards during the battle phase!" Akira reminded.

"The quick-play, Cynet Crash! When my Cyberse Link monster is destroyed by battle or card effect, I can target spell and traps on my opponent's field up to that monster's link rating and destroy them!"

"What?"

"It is not a trap either, so I cannot negate it with Haunted Rock's effect." Emma pointed out.

"Dark Templar was Link 3! So I destroy Haunted Rock and Unexpected Infection!" 3 arrows appeared from where Templar was eliminated, destroying all cards listed in one swell swoop.

Akira clicked his tongue in annoyance. Something similar happened before, where Yusaku destroyed 2 of his cards at once, but now he had no counter.

"I activate my face-down trap! Altergeist Failover! Since another card we control was destroyed by a card effect, I can special summon an Altergeist from my hand!" Emma stated. "I select my Fifinellag!" A new monster appeared it's red body standing out in contrast with the colors around along with its strange body that the other monsters shared, this one having an orb in its stomach while the lower part seemed to resemble a bee's abdomen in some way; 0/1000, LVL 2, Spellcaster, Tuner, DARK.

"Then since a trap was activated, I summon Multifaker!" a new monster appeared, this one's body magenta in color with the lower part showing multiple extension emerging from it; 1200/800, LVL 3, Spellcaster, DARK. "Then Multifaker's effect summon and Altergeist from my deck! I summon Silquitos!" A third monster, this one resembling a harpy-like being, appeared; 800/1500, LVL 2, Spellcaster, WIND.

"We managed to destroy 2 cards, yet they brought out 3 more monsters…" Yusaku muttered.

"And it is also still our battle phase!" Emma pointed out. "I use Silquitous' effect! I return Failover to my hand in order to get rid of Tethis!" Yusaku's and Aoi's Fusion monster disappeared before their eyes. "Now they are open, hubby."

"Yeah." Akira nodded. "I attack Code Generator using Silquitous, then Multifaker attack you directly!" Emma's monsters went forth, striking both the monster and Aoi and Yusaku at once

Playmaker & Blue Maiden: LP: 4200

"I end my turn," Akira said. "It is not too late, Aoi, just come back with me.!" He was trying to convince her to come, seeing as they were at a disadvantage it was no wonder he expected her to accept, but what followed next surprised him deeply.

"No...I won't" Aoi said, her eyes looking right at him. "I won't go back, and you want to know why? Because I am done being lonely, imprisoned in my own home! That is why I ran because I couldn't bear it anymore. Ever since the AI incident, ever since you became CEO, you became too protective. So much that I…" Tears started rolling down her cheeks as she talked. "I just couldn't bear it anymore."

Yuskau couldn't say anything, only listen to her. What could he say? He had no right to intervene in their relationship as brother and sister. "I was just trying to make sure you were alright! I didn't want to lose you again like I did when Hanoi attacked, or when Bohman did, or-"

"No!" Aoi interrupted him, shouting. "I understand that, but...You wouldn't even let me get out of the house, and I...I couldn't bear the loneliness anymore." Yusaku looked at Aoi with sad eyes, then went to her, offering a hug she took.

Akira tightened his fist seeing this. "But then I went to Yusaku, he is no better than me...Losing Ai, having to defeat him, left him empty, lonely...We found each other" She smiled, a weak and rare sight on her lips. "We got rid of each other's loneliness and…" She blushed. "Got t-together."

Emma was listening closely, but Akira was trying not to explode as any brother would. He did know that what he did was jumping the gun, he realized that a while ago. But finding out his sister was dating a boy that might be taking advantage? Oh, hell no! Even if that person is Yusaku, Akira couldn't let his sister be so, so...reckless.

She was too young, too inexperienced to know about stuff like love. From what she knows, what she feels is not love but need. The need to be with someone just so she is not alone. He had to show her that.

"My turn!" Akira snapped out of his thoughts as Aoi took her turn. "I summon Marincess Sea Horse!" A female monster wearing a blue dress with golden bracelets and long golden shoes appeared on the field; 1400/1000, LVL 3, Cyberse, WATER. "Appear! The circuit of love and bonds!" the link circuit appeared. "I set Sea Horse in the Link Marker Zone! Circuit Combine!"

A splash of water fell on the field as Aoi's monster appeared. "Appear, Marincess Blue Slug." A younger female monster in looks wearing a blue dress with yellow spots appeared on the field in the Extra Monster Zone; 1500/LINK-1, Cyberse, WATER, LM: B. "Blue Slug's effect adds a Marincess Monster from my grave to my hand! I select Sea Horse and use its effect to special summon it!" Sea Horse appeared on the field once again.

"Appear once again! The circuit of love and bonds!" The link circuit manifested once again. "The summoning conditions are 2 WATER monster! I set Sea Horse and Blue Slug in the link marker zones!" Her 2 monsters went into the circuit turning into jets of water. "Circuit combine! Appear, Marincess Coral Anemone!"

Another Marincess Link monster appeared, this one female like the rest wearing a white dress which split into multiple sections like the tip of an anemone at the wrist, hair reaching to her shoulder blades with the color orange held by a headpiece nicely decorated; 2000/LINK-2, Cyberse, WATER, LM: L, B.

"Coral Anemone lets me target one Marincess with 1500 or less attack in my grave and special summon it! I select Blue Slug!" The smaller Marincess reappeared on the field. "Appear again! The circuit of love and bonds!"

The circuit appeared for the third time, her monsters going in it. "Appear! Marincess Marbled Rock!" A female monster wearing a red costume that exposed her belly with long, sharp nails and a crown of pointy spikes took the field in the Extra Monster zone; 2500/LINK-3, Cyberse, WATER, LM: L, R, B.

"Silquitous' effect!" Emma shouted. "I return my tuner to my hand in order to-"

"I activate the trap, Marincess Wave!" Aoi interjected. "Due to its effect, I can activate it from my hand when there is a Link 3 or higher Marincess on my field."She smiled. "I negate the effect of Cerberus!"

Marbled Rock shifted her gaze at Akira's dog, sending 3 spikes taken from her shoulders at it and making it cry in pain as they punctured its side, but its effects were gone, making its attack drop to 0. "Why not Silquitous? Marbled Rock will be returned to the Extra Deck!" Emma pointed out.

"She won't!" Yusaku shouted. " Since Aoi controlled a Link 2 or higher Marincess, her monsters are unaffected by card effects until the End Phase!" Emma clicked her tongue.

"Furthermore, the effects of Marbled Rock and Anemone activate, adding 2 cards from my grave to my hand. I choose Marincess Journey and Sea Horse." Aoi added the cards back to her hand. "Battle! Marbled Rock attacks Acute Cerberus!"

Aoi's monster leaped into the air, then came down upon Akira's monster, slicing its 3 heads clean off before returning to Aoi's field.

Akira & Ghost Girl: LP: 4200

"Akira!" Emma cried out to him seeing as Akira was sent flying back by the explosion, but he managed to catch himself mid-air, landing on his feet.

"My own sister...Aoi…" He got up and straightened himself. "I activate my trap card, Gorgone's Curse!" The last of the cards he had first set on the field revealed itself. "When Tindangle Acute Cerberus is destroyed and send to the graveyard as a result of battle, I can banish it from my graveyard along with Tindangle Base Gardna in order to special summon Tindangle Typhon from my Extra Deck!"

"Tindangle Typhon?!" Aoi gasped in shock. Her brother never had a card like that before, so how did he?

"You are not the only one with new cards. I Summon Tindangle Typhon!" the ground before them started to shake and crack, red hot glows sneaking through the cracks as thick black smoke raised to the sky. Then the earth split open and from it arose the monster, a creature unlike any other. Its body was covered in black plating with his lower body being made of multiple snake-like creatures crawling around colored purple with no eyes. Its hand had 4 fingers each, and where the middle finger was supposed to be a long purple blade extended. Finally, its face resembled a human one with shoulder-length black hair, but its eyes were covered by a purple plate, a singular red eye covering the entire middle of its chest staring down at them; 3500/LINK-4, Fiend, DARK, LM: B-L, B, B-R, T.

"What's with that monster?" Yusaku asked as his link sense was going off. Something was off about that creature, and he did not like it one bit. Why his link sense was going off, he did not know.

"Typhon's effect! When he is special summoned, I can declare one monster type, the effects of all monsters with that type are negated on the field as long as Typhon is in play! I declare Cyberse! Retribution of Gaia!" Snakes detached themselves from his bottom half, crawling to Aoi's monster and bitting her ankle, causing it to yell out in pain and kneel.

"Next, I use his other effect! I can declare the name of a Link monster in my opponent's Extra Deck, then they have to send monsters from their hands and/or field to the grave equal to its Link Rating and summon it ignoring summoning conditions!"

"Summoning a Link monster just like that?" Aoi asked.

"I declare...Altergeist Memorygant!"

"What?!" Yusaku and Aoi cried out in shock, but Emma only smiled.

"I accept Typhon's effect and send Multifaker and Silquitous from my field, Fifinellag, and Pixiel from my hand to the graveyard, and summon Memorygrant!" Emma took a bow, and a scythe fell upon the field, only to be then picked up by her own Link 4; 2800/LINK-4, Spellcaster, DARK, LM: R, B-R, L, B-L.

"You were able to do all this during my turn…" Aoi muttered, then she looked down at her field. There was still a face-down there, but...It was something Yusaku needed. "I end my turn with a face-down."

"Then it is my turn!" Emma drew her card. "This was fun, sweetie, but it is time to turn off the lights. I attack using Memorygrant!" Emma's monster threw its scythe forth, slashing Marbled Rock in 2 in the process. "Then the effect of Altergeist Poltan in my hand activates! I send it to the graveyard when my Altergeist destroys a monster in battle, you take damage equal to my monster's original attack!" Emma's monster put its hands up, suddenly, a spectral sphere appeared and it got launched at Aoi, but it was blocked at the last possible second...By Encode Talker's shield.

"I activate the trap card, Code Dive!" Yusaku interjected. "This card can be activated from my hand when a Link 3 or higher Cyberse is destroyed in battle. It allows me to banish monsters from my graveyard to Link Summon! Furthermore, Cynet Codex's effect activates! Since I special summon a Code Talker, I add one Cyberse from my deck to my hand with the same attribute as it. Encode Talker is LIGHT attribute, so I add Lady Debug to my hand."

Emma clicked her tongue. "So you summoned a Code Talker...But you still take damage! Including the effect damage!

Playmaker & Blue Maiden: LP: 300

"I attack with Typhon!" Emma declared, and the monster's faceplates opened, revealing its empty orbits as it screamed out and send its snakes at Encode Talker.

"I send Rescue Interlacer from my hand to the grave! We take no damage! Furthermore, the monster summoned by Code Dive cannot be destroyed until the End Phase of this turn!"

Encode Talker put his shield forth, the snakes hitting hard, but failing to reach the monster behind it. "I end my turn"

"Rescue Interlacer summons itself during the end phase since I use its effect." A female monster with a white body and flash sirens on its wrist appeared on Yusaku's field; 1000/1200, LVL 3, Cyberse, LIGHT. Yusaku put a hand over his deck and inhaled.

If he didn't win now, then he would've failed Aoi. He couldn't afford that. "Akira. I want to say that I am sorry for not calling you about Aoi and hiding from you."

"What?"

"Yusaku?"

"I know what we did was wrong, and I know you have reasons to hate me now. But there are 3 reasons I cannot lose here, no matter the outcome: 1. If I lost here, then that meant I never gave it my all to protect Aoi's wish. 2. Despite being her brother, you went too far, so I cannot allow Aoi to return in solitude. 3. It was only because of Aoi that I was freed from my loneliness...That being said…" His fingers tightened. "I won't lose here and lose her!"

"Fujiki!" Akira exclaimed, surprised by the younger boy's fire.

"Yusaku…"

"I draw!" Yusaku exclaimed with strenght and drew his card. "Appear! The circuit which reveals our future!" The circuit opened, but this time on the ground, covering the entire field. "I set Rescue Interrlacer and Encode Talker in the Link marker zones!" His monster turned into 4 tornadoes, each going in one arrow. "Circuit combine! Appear, Firewall Dragon!"

Yusaku's ace monster, Firewall Dragon, took the field, appearing in the Extra Monster Zone with a mighty roar; 2500/LINK-4, Cyberse, LIGHT. "Next, I summon Swap Cleric!" A monster resembling a priest-like monster appeared; 500/1000, LVL 2, Cyberse, EARTH.

"Due to Typhon, the effects of all your monsters are negated!" Akira reminded.

"Only while on the field." Yusaku countered with a smirk. "I Link summon using Swap Cleric!" The monster went into the circuit. "Link Summon! Appear, Link Disciple! Then, its attack lowers itself by 500 due to Swap Cleric's effect, allowing me to draw another card!" Yusaku drew and looked at it, now the pieces of victory were in place. 'I activate the spell, Link Mayhem!"

"Link Mayhem?" Emma echoed.

"I tribute Link Disciple in order to move Firewall to the main monster zone on my field, then I can summon one Link Monster from my Extra Deck next to its links by negating its effects and making its attack 0! I summon Link Bumper!" A new Cyberse took the field; 1400-0/LINK-2, Cyberse EARTH.

"Why summon it if you cannot use its effect? No, why summon THAT monster in particular.?" Akira asked.

"Battle! Firewall Dragon attacks Tindangle Typhon!"

"What?!" Akira shouted at Yusaku's attack. "You are up to something, I know it…"

"The effect of Prohibit Snake in my hand activates! Typhon is sent back to your Extra Deck by sending this one card to the graveyard!"

"So that's what! But, unfortunately, that will not work! I activate the last effect Typhon possesses! When my opponent activates a card effect in their hand, that effect is negated, and they take 500 points of damage!"

Typhon shrieked out, sending his snakes. 'It's over, Yusaku."

"You think so?" Aoi said, grabbing his attention.

"What?"

"I activate the effect of Marincess Surgeon in my hand! When we are about to receive effect damage, that damage is negated!" A barrier formed around them, blocking the snake.

"Why didn't you use that against my card?" Emma asked.

"Because, when we negate more damage then we have life points, I can banish Surgeon from the graveyard and target one monster on the field; the target is destroyed and my opponent takes damage equal to its attack points! I destroy Memorygrand! And before you try anything, I chain my trap card, Marincess Judgement! I banish Marbled Rock and Blue Slug from my graveyard, then target Link monsters on my opponent's field with Link rating equal to the combined rating of the banished monsters. The total is four! So the effects of Typhon and Memorygrand are negated!"

"But that means!" Akira caught on to their strategy. Link Bumper and Firewall Dragon were co-linked, and since Typhon's effect was negated, that meant they recovered their effects.

Memorygrand went up in flames, the first victim of this combo. "Since Typhon's effect is negated, I activate Firewall Dragon's effect! I send him back to the Extra Deck!" Typhon vanished.

"No matter," Emma said. "Next turn, we can-"

"There won't be another turn!" Yusaku shouted. "I activate the quick-play, Firewall End! When I return a monster from the field to the hand or Extra Deck using Firewall Dragon's effect, my opponent takes damage equal to its original attack!"Firewall Dragon flew up in the sky, its wings folding into multiple devices, but this time, instead of red color, it was light blue. Then the dragon fired, taking the LP of Akira and Emma to zero.
