Chapter 22: Preparing Buu's Ultimate Warrior
Goten and Trunks had been waiting to use this technique again for a long time. It had been several years since they had to resort to the Fusion Dance, but now was a better chance than ever. "Hey, Goten, you remember how to do this right?" Goten nodded. The two kids each took six paces from each other equally, and stood upright. "Now, we gotta equalize our power levels, Goten!" Trunks said as he lowered his power level down to where Goten was; right above 150,000. Both boys put their arms outwards, sweeping in opposite from each other, and stepped inwards towards each other. "Fuuuuu…." They stopped when there were two steps in between them. Then, they put their arms out again. "...sion!" Finally, they came together, pointer fingers touching each other. "HAAA!" A bright white light flooded the sky around them and the two boys were fused together using the power of the Fusion Dance. The bright light grew in intensity, and the wind blew like crazy. Once the light and wind died down, a new fighter stood in its place. He had black hair with purple stripes down both sides. He wore a dark blue Metamoran jacket, with puffy yellow sleeves. The fighter wore a light blue belt with two long ribbons hanging from them. He wore white baggy pants and black boots. "DUH DUH DUN! I am The Hero of Justice! A fusion between Goten and Trunks, behold the mighty Gotenks!" Gotenks was pretty frail looking. He was kinda short, although Sonic and friends could sense his power level and it was through the roof! "Oh, look! It's Gotenks! What do you know? Are you planning on fighting Buu this time? What new attacks have you thought of?" Goku asked. He was clearly excited to fight. Gotenks looked slightly confused. "Uhh… I haven't really thought of any new attacks. I was just gonna use my old ones and hope they work this time." His voice was a mix of Goten and Trunks' voice.
"Tch. You idiots. Let me train you. If you want to fight Buu this second time, you need expert help. Come with me. Kakarot, you can stay behind with Sonic, and look for Buu. If you find him, immediately come to me. I'll help you." Vegeta said. "Alright, whatever. Let's get this over with." Gotenks followed Vegeta very closely. Soon, they were out of sight. Vegeta did not know Planet Mobius very well, so he made a few wrong turns along the way. He ended up in Hydrocity, Carnival Night, and even Lava Reef, somehow. He finally reached his intended destination. The Ice Cap Zone. "Wow, it's pretty c-cold here. Why can't we go anywhere else, Vegeta? I don't even have a jacket." Gotenks whined. Vegeta looked over his shoulder while Gotenks continued to complain. All of a sudden, he snapped. "GOTENKS! Stop your childish blathering and focus. Just go Super Saiyan. You'll be warm then. You don't see me complaining, now do you?" Gotenks stopped talking immediately. "Oh, sorry Vegeta. I'll try to go Super Saiyan. It's been a while." Gotenks bent over, and began to power up, yelling mightily. "SUPER GOTENKS! HAAAAA!" Gotenks' hair flapped in the wind, and the Super Saiyan aura surrounded his body. Suddenly, his hair flashed yellow. The transformation was finally complete. "Whoo… that feels good. Power flowing through my awesome body! At least now I'm warm. So, when do we get started, Vegeta?" Gotenks asked. He looked around, and couldn't find Vegeta anywhere. Suddenly, a massive hit from behind. It was Vegeta. "Starting right now, old man? Game on!" Gotenks prepared to fight. Vegeta went Super Saiyan as well, and the training session began. MEANWHILE… Goku stayed behind with Sonic and Tails, as they contemplated what to do. Suddenly, Tails had an idea. "What about we go to your planet, and collect the Dragon Balls, and we'll revive Knuckles. Then we'll bring back all the people Buu killed!" he said. Goku perked up. "Well, that would be a good idea, but the Earth Dragon Balls can only bring one person back to life at once. On the other hand, we could go to Namek and use those Dragon Balls! I'm sure the Namekians wouldn't mind! And while we're at it, we could maybe pick up Gohan! He'll be of some help against Buu!" Sonic nodded. "Yeah! We could do that! We'll revive Knuckles, and everyone else at the same time!" Sonic put his thumb up. "Goku, take us to Earth!" Sonic said. Goku put his hand on both of their shoulders, and used Instant Transmission to whisk them away. They disappeared from Mobius, and reappeared on Earth. They were in the middle of a city park somewhere. "Wow, I haven't been to Earth in a long time. Nothing's really changed much. So where's Gohan?" Sonic asked. Tails flew high up into the sky to survey the surrounding city. "I don't know where we are, but Capsule Corp is over there.
We could go there to ask Bulma for his address." Tails floated back down. Sonic nodded. "Great idea, Tails! Come on, guys!" Sonic revved up a Super Peel Out, and dashed out of the city park. Goku and Tails followed suit. They zoomed out of the park entrance, to the surprise of many passersby, and headed straight for Capsule Corp. Out in the front yard, Bulma's father; Dr. Brief, and her mother, sat in beach chairs on the lawn. Suddenly, Goku appeared in their faces. "Hey, Bulma's dad! How's it going? I'm here for Bulma, do you know where she is?" Bulma's dad was in shock, but he managed to stutter out an answer. "Y-yes, Goku. Sh-she's inside. Go on ahead…" Goku smiled cheerily, and walked inside the huge lab. Sonic and Tails just followed him. Sonic waved nervously at Dr. Briefs, who was in disbelief that an anthropomorphic hedgehog had just walked into his Capsule Corp. The lobby of Capsule Corp was huge. The Brief family photo hung on the far wall, surrounded in a gold frame. "Wow, they really built this place up since the last time I saw it." Sonic said. Tails, on the other hand, was looking around the lab in awe. "Whoa, so much sciency stuff! I wanna explore with it all!" Tails laughed and stared at each and every thing they passed. "Hey, Sonic? Is Tails okay? He seems a little bit sick to me." Goku asked. Sonic shrugged his shoulders. Then, they rounded a corner, and a huge machine stood in the middle of a giant room, being worked on by at least five employees. "Hey, Bulma! It's Goku! I've gotta ask you a question!" Bulma looked down at him from atop the machine and smiled. "Oh, Goku! I haven't seen you in ages! What are you doing here?" she asked. "Well, a lot has been happening lately in Sonic's world," he told her. Bulma looked slightly confused. "Um, who's Sonic? I don't think I've ever heard of him before." Bulma said. Goku slapped his own forehead. "Oh, that's right. I never even introduced you to him. Silly me. Sonic, this is Bulma, my longtime best friend." Sonic waved. "Well hey, Bulma. I'm Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog. It's nice to meet you." He put out a hand for a handshake. Bulma grabbed his hand, and shook enthusiastically. "I'm Bulma! It's nice to meet you too! So, Goku, what brings you here again?" Goku then proceeded to explain the situation. "Well, that doesn't seem good. It's great that I already have the teleporter ready to go! Here, take the Dragon Radar while you're at it! It might be of some help." Goku grabbed the Dragon Radar from Bulma, and hopped into the teleporter. Sonic and Tails hopped in right after. "I'll see ya in a bit, Bulma! It won't take long." Goku said. Tails smiled and waved. The teleporter sparked with electricity, and sent Sonic and co. zooming towards Planet Namek. MEANWHILE… Back on Mobius, Vegeta and Gotenks continued their training together. "Hahaha! Really, old man!? Is THIS all you got? I'm falling asleep here! Gimme a real good fight!" Gotenks mocked Vegeta. "Listen here, punk! The only reason I am not absolutely destroying you right now, is because you are our only hope, and you are undisciplined! I've got to train you, so this is your discipline!"
Vegeta unleashed a sudden burst of extra power, and overwhelmed Gotenks. His fists rushed at him. "YAAAA! Do you feel it now, Gotenks? Do you feel it?" Vegeta asked. Gotenks was struggling to shield himself from Vegeta's attacks. "I've been waiting to pull out this form, but now seems like better a time than ever!" Gotenks said. He gathered his Ki into the very core of his body, and let it out all in one burst. "HAAAAAA! WITNESS MY TRUE POWER! THIS TIME, I'M NOT PLAYING AROUND!" Super Gotenks' aura expanded, and fluxed with sparks of lightning. His hair began to grow, and sparkle with a bright golden light. One final powerful yell completed the transformation. "Yeah, Super Saiyan 3! Wow, we really broke the land around here, didn't we? The ice is all melted, and the ground is cracked all over! We really should slow down a little bit." Gotenks said. Once again, his eyebrows disappeared, and were replaced with a sharp, monkey-like brow line. The Ice Cap Zone was a shambles. The loops made of clear ice were falling apart. The snow was missing in huge patches all over the place. All in all, the Saiyans' massive brawl had completely wrecked the Ice Cap. MEANWHILE, FAR AWAY… Super Buu had been exploring the now desolate Planet Mobius. He flew through towns, cities, plenty of Zones, and was getting pretty bored. "Hmmm. Maybe I shouldn't have killed everyone here. I need something to do until that ultimate fighter is ready. I wonder what on this planet is good to eat…" Buu flew full speed toward one of the nearest towns, which was South City. He landed in the town square. Shops and stores surrounded him. As it just so happened, Majin Buu absolutely loved chocolate. So, the first thing he did was search for a candy store. As he walked down the deserted streets, an ominous wind blew. "Where's all the candy stores? Buu need chocolate NOW!" His scream was so loud, that all the glass windows nearby were blown out. Buu looked around for a few more minutes, but he could not find any candy stores. Then, Buu got really angry. "This city is USELESS! I WILL BLOW IT UP!" he said. Majin Buu held his right hand high up into the sky, and produced a small pink energy ball. He put a little more energy into it, and it grew into a massive sphere. Pink lightning flashed all around, and the wind blew furiously. "THIS CITY IS HISTORY! PLANET BURST!"
Super Buu wound up his arm, and launched his attack at full power. It leapt from his hand and tore through the sky, headed dead center toward the middle of South City. The city had already sustained damage from the previous Flying Battery assault, but that was nothing compared to what the city was about to experience. The energy ball made an impact on the ground, and for a split second, it stood still. Then, it exploded. A pink flash in the sky, then the full potential of Majin Buu was realized. The entirety of South City was decimated in an instant. But, the explosion wasn't done there. It expanded, and with size came strength. Even in the Ice Cap Zone, thousands of miles away, Gotenks and Vegeta felt it. Gotenks stumbled and fell. "Whoa, what's going on, Vegeta? It's an earthquake!" Gotenks fell flat on his butt. "Get up, Gotenks! It could be a nearby enemy!" Suddenly, a vicious gust of wind that blew through the various mountain passes. Majin Buu's attack was breaking the ground nearby, revealing the molten mantle of Planet Mobius. Finally, the attack wound down and disappeared. "Stupid city. The next one better make sure they have some chocolate." Super Buu flew away from the ruins of the once-lavish South City, headed for the next town. "Wow, that earthquake sure was strong, wasn't it? I think it was pretty close to here." Gotenks said. Vegeta sighed. "I don't think that was an earthquake, Gotenks. I think it was Buu preparing to fight you. Listen to me. When you fight him, do not hold back like Kakarot does. Go at your full strength right off the bat. Do not hold back. Your fusion is about to run out. You trained well." Vegeta said. Gotenks looked confused. "What do you mean my fusion is about to run out? I just started!" Suddenly, a bright blue light, and the two boys were thrown in opposite directions and landed on the cold ground. "Aw man. That was fun! Trunks, can we go Super Saiyan 3 while fighting Buu? Please?" asked Goten. Trunks nodded excitedly. MEANWHILE, ON PLANET NAMEK… Sonic, Tails, and Goku had just stepped out of the teleporter on Planet Namek. "Ah, Namek. I've heard of this place before! Is it true that a guy once blew it up, but you brought the planet back with the Dragon Balls?" Tails asked Goku. "Yep! The guy's name was Freiza. He was some sort of space emperor, and he killed almost everyone on this planet, until I came along, of course! Then he killed Krillin, I turned into a Super Saiyan, and I beat him! The end." Goku said. Suddenly a voice from behind. "Hello, Earthlings. Welcome back to Namek. Long time no see." It was a tall Namekian who wore a dark blue cloak, with a sash around his waist, of the same color. The Namekian also wore white baggy pants, and brown moccasins. "Nail! It's been a while! How's the Grand Elder doing?" Goku asked. Nail nodded. Sonic assumed that meant he was doing well. Nail held out a large, lumpy brown sack. It was pretty heavy. Sonic reached his arm out and grabbed it. He was dragged down almost instantly. "Whoa! What's in this?!" he asked. "The Grand Elder heard about your intentions on coming to Namek, and he told me to gather the Dragon Balls for you. You're welcome." said Nail. Tails smiled, and had tears in his eyes. "Does this mean we can wish back Knuckles?" he asked. Sonic smiled, and put a thumb up. "You betcha! Now let's find a large open space, and summon this dragon!" Sonic quickly took off at full speed, in search of a suitable place to summon the dragon. As he zoomed through the luscious blue grass fields, the wind whipped through the air. Sonic looked around the surrounding environment. "Now then. Where are we gonna find us a good spot?" Sonic asked himself. Suddenly, a bright patch of grass flashed by in his peripheral vision. "Hey, what was that? I'd better check this out." Sonic made a U-turn, and dashed over to the area in question. It was relatively clear of trees; just a plain old grass patch. A few shrubs, but those would just be collateral damage. "Yup, this is the spot. Now I need something to mark it with. Sonic found a large branch, and shoved into the ground. "There we go. Now I just need to tell the others."
Sonic ran in roughly the direction from which he came with a heap of good news to tell. MEANWHILE, BACK ON MOBIUS… Vegeta had finally finished training Goten and Trunks, known collectively as Gotenks. "Thanks Vegeta. I think I'm ready to handle Buu now. He won't know what hit him; because I am the Hero of Justice, the Savior of Goodwill, the almighty Gotenks! DUH DUH DUNN!" Vegeta's cheeks turned bright red. "S-stop doing that! We already know that you're Gotenks! Now get ready to fight. He's coming." Vegeta said. Gotenks stopped right in his tracks. "Wh-what? He's coming?! I'm not ready for that! I was just joking earlier! I'm just the same ol' Gotenks from before. Vegeta, you've gotta promise to tag in if I get overwhelmed, okay?" Vegeta turned around and crossed his arms. "Fine, I'll help. ONLY if you get overpowered. And even then, I won't be putting my all into it. It isn't my fight to win. We have a deal?" Gotenks smiled. "Yes sir! I promise to try my very best." Suddenly, Vegeta sensed a massive power level approaching his location. "He's here! Gotenks, on your guard!" Super Buu dropped to the ground near Gotenks and Vegeta with a smile on his face. "Your time is up. Where is my ultimate warrior?" Buu asked. "Nuh-uh! Our time isn't up! We still have two hours left!" Gotenks said. Buu turned his gaze from Vegeta and fixated directly on Gotenks. "Excuse me. Who are you? Where is my ultimate fighter?" Majin Buu asked him. Gotenks balled up his fist, and said: "He's right here! I'm your ultimate fighter! The fusion between Goten and Trunks, the Defender of Justice, the Hero of Goodwill, the Wrath wreaker, I am Gotenks!" Gotenks posed in front of the confused Majin Buu, only to be met with uproarious laughter. "BWAHAHAHAHA! You think two tiny children can defeat me? C'mon, gimme a better joke than that! I'll crush you to a pulp without even exerting myself. But, if you wanna die so badly, Buu can help with that. Then, I'll take care of the one with the crazy hair over there. And then, I'll destroy this world. All these places with the insane colors. It's too much!" Gotenks raised his chin. "Oh, really? You're gonna destroy the world? You'll have to get through me first! Come at me!" Buu smiled creepily, and put his fists together. Prepare for the biggest battle Mobius has ever seen! Gotenks vs. Majin Buu!
