Link, clutching his Master Sword, makes his way down the pyramid and is met with a flurry of tough enemies. The worst of these is the Hinox, a one eyed giant who throws bombs at random. After nearly dying from the enemies, Link collapses at the side of the pyramid, exhausted.

"I'd stay clear of those Hinox if I were you. And the Snapdragons. In fact, I wouldn't risk tangling with any of them," a familiar voice calls out.

Link lifts his head weakly and sees a tall black fox sitting in front of him. Her floofy tail is wrapped around her feet.

"And I also wouldn't advise sleeping out in the open," the fox continues.

"Are... Are you the one who helped me find the Master Sword...?" Link asks.

"Are you the lost soul I helped? I suppose it is fate we finally meet, then," the fox says.

"I honestly didn't expect you to be a fox. I know you said you used to be a Hylian, but still, I don't know... I didn't expect a fox," Link rambles on.

"Neither did I," the fox says.

"You know, there's got to be a way to get you out of here," Link says.

"It's far too late... I've been stuck here for a long time... By now, I bet even my grandfather has forgotten me..." the fox says, looking sad.

Link sits up suddenly.

"Oh! I know who you are!" Link says.

"Y-you do?" the fox asks, looking surprised.

"You're Ahgama's granddaughter!" Link says.

The fox gasps and stands up.

"Oh! Then he hasn't forgotten me!" the fox exclaims.

"He's been looking for you, he misses you!" Link says.

"I wish I could see him again!" the fox says.

"Well, come with me. I don't intend on leaving you behind," Link says.

"Where to, though?" the fox asks.

Link holds open his map and points to the diamond marking.

"The Palace of Darkness!" the fox gasps, "N-no... It's far too dangerous there!"

"I have the Master Sword, though," Link says.

"Right, you do... But it's still dangerous. A huge scorpion named Helmasaur King lives deep inside that palace!" the fox says, "And you'll need more than just a sword to get past his armor!"

"I've got to do it. Princess Zelda told me that one of her sisters is trapped there," Link says.

The fox sighs and shakes her head.

"If you insist... Then I suppose I could guide you once more," the fox says after some time, "Just be really careful or you'll die and your body will never be returned to the Light World!"

"Thanks!" Link says.

Link gets up off of the ground and the fox scurries forward, looking around cautiously.

"New monsters will be arriving shortly. If you want to make it to the Palace of Darkness in one piece, you better hurry!" the fox says.

Link follows silently, fighting off monsters that happen to cross paths with them. Not long later, they come across a tangled mess of roots and leaves.

"Oh yeah, I forgot, there's a maze you have to cross to reach the entrance of the Palace of Darkness!" the fox says.

"How will I know the correct path?" Link asks.

"Kiki knows the way, but be prepared, he will expect a payment," the fox says.

As she says this, a little purple monkey emerges from the tangled mess of plants.

"Why, hello! Kikikikiki!" Kiki calls out excitedly.

"Hi, my friend here says you can help me get through here?" Link says.

Kiki looks at the fox and nods.

"I sure can! Kikikiii! Just pay me!" Kiki says.

Link digs through his belongings and pulls out a red Rupee.

"Will that be enough?" Link asks.

"Ooh! Shiny! Kikikiki! Follow me!" Kiki cries out after taking the red Rupee from Link.

"You will be coming with me into the palace, right?" Link asks, nervously glancing back at the fox.

"I have important business to take care of elsewhere, actually... But I will return!" the fox says.

"Okay... Don't die," Link says.

"You neither," the fox says.

Link turns and follows Kiki down the correct path through the tangled mass of plant material.

"Oh, you wouldn't happen to have more Rupees on you, would you? Kikiki!" Kiki asks after emerging on. The other side of the maze.

"I probably do, why?" Link asks.

"If you pay me, I'll open up the palace for you! Kiki-Kiki!" Kiki says.

"So now I have to pay to enter dangerous locations? Okay... That's weird..." Link says.

He hands over 100 Rupees anyways.

"Thank you! Kikikiiiiiii!" Kiki cries out.

Kiki then leaps up a tree and onto the roof of the Palace of Darkness. A secret button that was up there causes the doors to the Palace of Darkness to open up.

"Well, good luck! And thanks for the Rupees! Kiki-kikikiiii!" Kiki calls out.

He jumps off of the roof and disappears into the undergrowth. Link sighs.

"I guess I'm all alone again..." Link mutters.
