Charley's POV:
We finally made it to California and Spencer took me to the house. It was an old beat-up house and I honestly thought he was joking but he wasn't. Spencer is horrible with jokes and I learned the hard way.
I walked up to the door and held my hand up into a fist and was about to knock but I couldn't do it. Something was telling me not to so I walked back to Spencer and said, "It's not time yet."
He nodded and took me back to the hotel. We both fell asleep but I woke up at 3 AM struggling to go back to sleep. Something was telling me I needed to go to the house alone.
I fell back asleep and was shaken awake by Spencer saying he was going for a walk. I told him, "Okay, I am going to go to the house again." He looked at me and asked, "Are you sure you don't want me to come with you?" I shook my head because I knew I had to do it alone. He reluctantly agreed to let me go and before I knew it I was back on the doorsteps of hopefully my parent's house."
I knocked on the door and a little girl opened the door. I bent down to her level and said, "Hey is your mommy or daddy home?" She nodded and yelled for her mom. I heard from upstairs, "Sofia you know better. Do not open the door to anyone. Wait for us," as she walked down the stairs. She came to the door and it looked like she saw a ghost.
I say, "Mother?" She said nothing just stood there and then I heard a man's voice, "Cathy who's at the door?" Then he came up and said, "Oh my gosh Charley," and gave me a hug.
Cathy didn't say a word but I knew my dad was excited. He let me in and said how much he missed us and how he felt bad being separated but at least we had each other. I agreed and just looked at my mother who was speechless.
John then said that I was an older sister and said, "Charley meet your younger sister Sofia."
I said hello and asked for her age and she said happily, "I am a whole hand," and she held up five fingers. I said, "Wow that's a big number." She just nodded and laughed. Cathy finally spoke but it wasn't what I really wanted to hear, "Charley may I speak to you, Privately."
I said yes and followed her upstairs. She went into a room and closed the door locking it and said, "How did you find us?"
I sighed and said, "Gosh mom your not even happy to see me after 5 years. I found you by a friend who has connections. I found out in a not so happy way. Why didn't you tell us you guys were alive and HAD a child?"
She looked at me and said, "It's complicated-," But I interrupted and said, "No I am not taking that as an answer. I was kidnapped and went through four days on the road to see you guys. I want answers."
She was hesitant and just walked away leaving me alone in that room. All I felt at that moment was an emptiness inside me.
Hotch's POV:
The new agents were okay but not good enough. I went through so many new agents within the past four days than I had in my entire year. I regretted everything that has happened the past weeks and knew I had to make it up for everyone. I didn't know when everyone would be back but I did notice that Emily and Nina pulled their letter of resignation and said they will return but I didn't know when.
I pulled out my phone and called Nina, but it went to voice mail and I left her a message, "Hey Nina it's Aaron... Look I know you're mad at me and you have every right to be. I want to make it up to you and put this team back together but I need your help. Please give me a callback."
I hung up and called Spencer. He picked it up and said, "Reid here."
I said, "Hey Spencer, I don't know where you are right now but I want to get the team together to discuss the future of the BAU with the team. Do you know when you'll be back?"
Spencer said, "I don't know when I'll be back because I am in California with Charley because she found out her parents were alive and she asked me to take her to them."
I was shocked how did she find out, "But how did she find out. Who told her?" There was a pause on the phone and I said firmly, "Reid did you tell her?"
He stuttered, "I- I- I didn't mean too. When we were at the hospital she said she knew everything and I thought she was talking about her parents so I tried to confirm what she was talking about but then she was shocked and said you were Nina's father and possibly hers too."
I sighed and said, "That's okay that was one of the things I was going to tell them when they got back. I now only have to tell Nina." Then I hung up.
Nina's POV:
My phone rang and I looked at it and saw that it was Hotch and I ignored it. We landed in California late last night so we decided to visit my grandmother in the morning as a surprise.
The next morning we went to her house and I rang the doorbell. No answer. I tried again but still no answer. I looked through the window and saw the house was dark. It was 9:30 in the morning and normally she is awake, but maybe since it's been a while she changed her sleep schedule. We decided to come back around noon because for sure she will be up.
At noon we stopped at the store and got my grandmother's favorite snack and flowers. We roll up at the house and rang the doorbell, still nothing. I started to worry and looked at Emily, "What if something is wrong with her?"
She tried to calm me down but I started to panic. Just then her neighbor came out and recognize me instantly. She said, "Little Nina is that you?"
I looked over and smiled, " 's it's so good to see you," and walk over to her house. I introduced Emily as my friend but knew everything about me and said, "Oh pish-posh don't hide your girlfriend from me." We both laughed nervously and she looked at me and said, "Oh... so you two aren't together but are thinking?"
Emily said, "It's very nice to meet you 's," and stuck out her hand to shake it and she said, "Please call me Gina."
I asked, "Mrs.- I mean Gina. Have you seen my grandmother lately?" She looked at me sadly and said, "Oh you haven't heard."
"Haven't heard what?" I said scared and grabbed Emily's hand.
Gina looked at me and said, "Your grandmother died about two weeks ago. She had a heart attack. She and I normally play chess together on Wednesday and when she didn't come I knew something was wrong. I called the police and they found her dead on the kitchen floor."
Tears started rolling down my face and I couldn't stop them. Gina then added, "I am to blame for this. She complained about having chest pains and I told her to go to the doctor but as you know she is hardheaded and stubborn. I should of push more than letting her suffer." I saw tears coming down her cheeks and I ran up to her and hugged her.
I said, "We all knew how stubborn she was. This is not your fault. It was just her time," I said with despair.
I was about to walk away when she pulled me close and whispered in my ear, "That woman over there is a keeper. Please don't be hardheaded like your grandmother, and tell her how you feel." I pulled away and said, "Don't worry 's I am never letting her go."
I was walking away with a little smile while I walked towards Emily and in the distance, I hear her said, "Call Me Gina! And always remember that I am there for you my sweet Nina."
We laughed and waved goodbye and went into the car and drove back to the hotel.
